    Same problem here.
  2. Sermon, I have no idea what booting into Safe Mode did but it seems to have fixed things. I've tried quitting out and reloading and even rebooted and reloading and it's fine now. Thanks for your help everyone.
  3. This is weird. Trying to log in now (after Safe Mode but without changing anything at all), everything goes fine. FSAA was already turned off, BTW.

    I need a drink...
  4. Managed to log in in Safe Mode but can't adjust the graphics settings to anything acceptable (tells me to restart game, I restart game, it restarts in exactly the same situation, ignoring any changes I've made).
  5. OK, I've just tried getting in in Safe Mode and that seems to work. Remains to be seen if that actually sorts it out.

Nope, slightly colder if anything. See above post though. Happens at exactly the same point each time, doesn't happen no matter what else I do.

Already tried driver cleaner. I know it's not a heating issue since it happens at the exact same point every time regardless of what or whether anything else is running, also happened back on test (which I didn't think anything of because it's test) but doesn't I get absolutely no errors while doing anything else, even thrashing it through benchmarkers.

I am not, but I have heard of others with some such as this. Try to update your driver if you haven't done so.
Already updated to the newest 8600GT driver.
  9. Downloaded i17 last night, created a demon summoner, played for a while with no problems. I try to play today and I get through the updater and log-in fine but as soon as I get to character selection, I get this massive graphics glitch (screenie below) that persists even if I log in. I've tried updating graphics drivers, etc. The only thing I can think of now is downloading a fresh copy of the client but I'd rather not spend the next two days waiting for it to download. Any ideas?

    Reformed Badge

    [ QUOTE ]
Personally, I'm all for side switching- and it has nothing to do with badges and everything to do with character evolution! I don't see much logic in limiting 'good' or 'evil' to the powers one ends up with, but rather how they use them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seconded. The face/heel turn is a staple of comic book stories. Personally, I have several toons that were designed to be less straightfoward good/evil and more morally dubious.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
It seems my dream of a mercs MM with a catgirl army, or a necro MM with barfing clown minions, will remain only a dream...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm still hoping for a Demons pet set. Imps for the low-level minions, something similar to the CoT succubi for the mid-level and then something similar to the CoT behemoth or Horny from Dungeon Keeper for top-level pet.
  12. FOR PONY!

    (sorry, couldn't resist)
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I kinda did a double take on this one... you do know this won the poll several issues back, and willpower got added first only because Shields were so hard to add, right?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oops I did know that, at some point although it kind of got lost in my mental file somewhere...

    [ QUOTE ]
Actually, they said there were several changes/improvements for bases, they just haven't said WHAT those changes are yet!

    [/ QUOTE ]

An overhaul for that diabolical base designer would be good. Also, some non-Tech/Arcane themed stuff.

    [ QUOTE ]
Personally, I love everything that we've been told thusfar, though I am quite eager to hear more about the mission creator (and how creative we can be with it) and base improvements.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Since I missed the base improvements, *whistles*. The mission creator is intriguing because for the life of me, I can't see how they're going to pull it off.

    [ QUOTE ]
I'm also keeping my fingers crossed that the base improvements will bring a prestige grant with it... those are all sorts of fun [edit] My assumption on this is that if there is one, it won't be announced until the last second, so people don't pad their roster too much. This is actually the delusion I'm going to hold onto all the way to i13 going live, unless a dev steps in and... lets me down easy [/edit]

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just started my first group (RP group for elderly/semi-retired heroes, inspired by Kingdom Come and the JSA) and right now, the base consists on one room so that would be cool.
  14. I'm somewhat ambivelent on this one.
    The good:
Mission creator (already plotting mission arcs in my head)
Pain Domination (will have to reroll one of my chars)
new costume parts (there can never be enough costume parts, just don't remove any existing ones)

    Stuff I'm kinda "meh" on:
Shields: I would have preferred psi weaponry or size control but ok, shields are easier to do, I get that.
Cimerora missions: Nice but not a huge deal
Day Jobs & Merits: Not so much a "meh" as a "how the hell are they going to make that work?". Still, the devs haven't let me down so far so I'll trust them on this.

    The bad:
Still no love for bases that I noticed!
Shields for stalkers just don't seem to fit the archetype at all.
Redside still needs about two dozen more contacts to get anywhere close to parity.

Purchasable costume sets: Do the half-dozen of us who suggested this years ago get a royalty on these? I'm kidding. Fantastic idea, you can never have too many costume pieces. My only hesitation is that I hope they're better value than the wedding pack was. OK, I paid for the wedding pack and I'll pay for these but I'm hoping for a dozen plus costume pieces, not just one or two. Still, I can see myself compulsively buying every one. Also, temp power? Intriguing.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
It's probably been suggested before, but what about Natural travel powers for natural based heroes. Bikes, Cars, Planes, etc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Vehicles are probably out but swinglines should be do-able. Or just let us keep the raptor pack.
  16. How about integrating the travel powers into the basic powersets?

OK, I know that would be a [expletive] load of work but it's an idea. Like, Ice Tankers would get Ice Slide as a travel power (ala Iceman), Fire and Energy would get something similar involving thermals or "positively-charged ions" (pure Star Trek technobabble), SS would get Superjump and so on. Dark could have either a Darkness slide or Teleport.

Not sure what you'd do for the Mind and Claw based sets but it's something to think about.
  17. He's right about one thing: The quickest way to tick off the entire player base is nerfing. Better to improve everything else than nerf anything.

(based largely on my experiance with EVE where the nerf bat came out for almost every update)
  18. You could, it's just nice to have the actual gadget on them.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
It makes no sense for a Natural Blaster with Assault Rifle and Devices to suddenly be able to leap 1,000feet, or fly through the air un-aided.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was talking about that with my SO a couple days ago. Her idea was to just make the temp travel powers available permanently. So your Natural character isn't suddenly doing anything that would go against that origin, they're just gadgeteering an equivelent.
