Remember those 'As Seen On TV' packs you could put into the microwave, hot-up and put on sore muscles for warming pain relief? ...nothing more than a tubesock filled with rice. (LOL, the packaging said 'filled with organic material.) The heated rice retains warmth for quite a while.

If you drop a cell phone in water you submerge it in a bag/jar of rice and it absorbs the water , the device usually works after a day or two...
