In my ever to be humble observation, this is a game and the goal is to have fun and take our minds off of the "stuff" happening in our lives!
RWZ Ship Raids are utter chaos except for the pylons. Same goes for Rikti raids in zones. All you do is gather together and hit what you can. If the lag doesn't mess you up, something will. But the benefits to all the chaos are: Vanguard Merits, getting some xp and having fun teaming (even with the villains).
No boot camp required!
