In reply to @Madadh:
Your posts in reply to mine did i suppose have a valid point. I suppose in some instances we [as the EU] can be seen as "over sensitive" in that any small hiccup these days gets turned into a "why us?" thread. The only reason i can see this being is because of past experiences with this game and you are right, people telling us to stop complaining do pay their subs too and i shouldnt've stepped over the mark by telling them to stop telling us to.
So in that respect i will say sorry
Im just a passionate player who sticks up for my fellow EU players when i feel we are being treated poorly. I agree that i am perhaps too vocal about this ongoing situation but thats my downfall [one of many] and just feel strongly that these downtime situations could have been handled a lot better.
For example if we had even had a bit more notice at the start of the month saying that there will be multiple and long downtime to increase the server and hardware, then yes there would have been still "Are you kidding me!?" posts but a lot more people would have understood. To myself personally it feels a little "sneaky" that they have been posting these downtime notices VERY late in our night/early about the following morning.

To busy putting my outrage in the other thread sorry

Quote:Now you know theres going to be another one in the next few days to fix something it'll breakmaybe im reading TOO much into one word... but... the announcement today says
"This maintenance is to complete the City of Heroes server upgrades."
note the word "complete" indicating this is the last one and therefore server downtime should be back to normal after this one that "completes" the server upgrades!wishful thinking?
Really though, they should have stated at the start of the month that there was going to be numerous long periods of downtime for server upgrades instead of just going "oh btw your losing your play time tomorrow". -

Quote:How is one group of downtime more important than another group? Really, think about it. The whining is unreal, I'm embarrassed to think I play with some of you.
Outages are a fact life in ANY capacity. Nothing is finite or 24/7...except maybe the crying.
I feel the people behind the scenes are trying their best to keep the our game fresh and as well as keep most happy. I personally would not want to venture into work at some of these times these people are. Obviously, there is a fair amount of dedication on their end and a discussion about the down time will help them get better at what they do as far as how the downtime affects their core users.
Everyone's prime time is different and there is probably not too many people that can honestly say that they have not been affected by some of the recent down time.
Have a cup of tea, a biscuit, and chill
OR they could do it at their normal office hours and stay a few hours later to avoid the whole reason people are complaining on this thread? -
What you all complaining about? I mean we only lost 2 days worth of playtime
/sarcasm

Quote:Pretty sure the down time for NA was the same length as for everywhere else, but I am thinking you meant "prime playing time". My shift gets done at 1:00 am Mountain Standard Time here in the USA, which was just prior to shut down. I usually head home, swap into shorts and a T-shirt and play for 2-3 hours, head to bed and sleep until around 11-12:00. That gives me a couple hours to dink around before I head to work again. Guess the projected 12 hour upgrade did affect some of the NA players, since we don't all work the "normal" shift.
I just want to be able to log in and not get mapserved 3-4 times per TF, so if I miss a couple days of playtime, but gain the ability to not leave my teamates a man short during the Rommie/Reichsman/Recluse fight...seems like a small price to pay.
Sorry i did mean NA prime time in the quote yes -
Quote:Tell someone selling $75-100,000 cars that they should be giving away product when someone makes a stink.
Nope. I've got two.
And your telling me that I'm wrong simply because it suits your purposes and/or ego for me to be wrong doesn't mean that your opinion reflects the reality of the situation.
You don't like what I have to say? Fine. But please tell me why I'm wrong rather than simply saying "You're wrong".
"Because I said so" isn't a valid answer.
Your saying everybody in the EU is wrong to complain. You are yet to get a valid reason for EU players not to complain other than "because i said so" yourself. -
Quote:Ah. So if it doesn't inconvenience you, and is only a pain in the butt to us dirty colonials, it's not an issue and shouldn't be addressed right?
For somebody who keeps bragging about how they were in customer service you dont half forget/dont read nothing. EVERYBODY is saying they know its essential, they just would like it done during NA primetime once in a while!
You cant be that self obsessed that your blinded by your own . . . . well whatever it is your blinded by -
Quote:[/LIST]If you want to complain fine. Just make sure you know what you're talking about. Avoid baseless accusations. And for the love of Bob, try to hold back on the self-entitlement of "I should be complensated" demands.
Without access to actual subscriber numbers, you could probably say you're a portion of the community. How LARGE a portion is entirely debatable though.
Additionally, it has been spelled out, the downtimes during EU primetimes are still STATISTICALLY affecting the lowest number of players. This argues as to how large your portion is.
While I'm sympathetic (and please believe me, were I in your situation, I'd be annoyed as **** too). The devs have stated, several times now, that this maintenance policy isn't going to change in the foreseeable future.
Now, if you can bring on a couple tens of thousands of paying subscribers in your neck of the woods, I'm fairly certain the devs would have EVERY reason to reconsider.
[/LIST]Debatable. Especially since it is already spelled out that they're not required to compensate you for service outages, planned or unplanned.
Maybe have them give the game a try when it's NOT in the middle of an upgrade cycle.
1) Did you even READ what i posted? My post stated that i believed that the "i want money back" was over reacting imo.
2) I think i have a much better view of how many are EU players than you since you know . . . i myself am an EU player and know quite a large number of EU players.
3) Whatever that number of EU players is, its a number large enough to hurt their wallets.
4) The game had zero warning that the month of september would be "downtime month".
5) You, out of everybody in this thread, seem to have the least clue here about the actual situation. You say we dont have any idea what they're doing, how do you know i didnt watch the ustream too and just like you because of it know it all?
6) Because statistics show we are lower than NA primetime you saying our number of players is low? Seriously are you even remotely serious? The number could be 51/49 and we'ld be the lower number. You sir, stink of "elitist". -
Quote:Dear lord i hope you aint on about the server selection screen since that was an actual bug . . . . . . .
No. I'm saying that they saw the loads from the opening of i21 and did something in vaguely this order. -
-
Quote:Play during EU primetime and tell me theres an overloaded server. This "overload" you talk about . . . . . it never happens before midnight our time.
Sit on an overloaded server, waiting for your powers to recharge and then tell me there's "no benefit". -
Quote:Im pretty sure if they did what you say [since your an EXPERT it seems], then they would lose the EU playerbase and then we'll see just how impossible we are . . . .Perspective: Bull****
Having worked, directly and indirectly, with customers over the years, I can tell you that's a flat out lie at best. It's simply a platitude offered when making an attempt to retain business. At some point, the merchant STILL has to put a foot down and make a decision between retaining a possibly impossible customer and letting that person go and focusing on other customers who are easier to satisfy.
But geez get out of your own ***If you think EU players asking for less downtime in their primetime makes us impossible then you really are living in some fantasy world O_o

Damzs serious post of the month!
- For the people that mention the server list merge, that was a HUGE positive for the EU players as a whole. A large majority of us have made more friends and speaking on behalf of union, the server population did increase.
- For mentioning those costume competitions at early hours. Since there was only 3 costume competitions, either the EU or the NA would have to lose out on one and so i aint fussed that EU only got "1" costume competition in our primetime. Costume competition is a costume competition.
- For the posters telling EU players complaining to stop, no. As is said in many threads, we pay our subscription just the same as you and if we feel that we are being short changed in any shape or form then as a paying customer we have every right to voice our concerns/complaints.
- For the posters saying EU should just accept it, no. A lot of the posters who are telling the EU to be quiet are quite well respected people on these forums and i am quite shocked and dissapointed in those players who usually seem quite sensible. Yes we do complain a lot but we are a large portion of the community.
- In regard to people saying [including myself] that for once we'ld like to see NA downtime, there is a genuine reason for this. Its not something as petty as "punish" them and not us, no. The reason is we'ld like to proove to you doubters that these forums would explode [if they let you log in] from the NA players ranting about their playtime being gone. I do remember the one time not so long ago servers were down for you players and there WAS a lot of multiple threads full of rage and "omg!??!".
- Is it overreacting people asking for a days worth of free time added to their account? Not in the slightest. Asking for the money back would be childish, asking for the amount of lost time the EU has lost in the last few weeks is acceptable by a lot of paying customers.
- Finally a small story. My younger brother and friend both started playing this game about 2 weeks before i21. Both have quit now, their reason? They loved the game but didnt want to pay to play a game which is mostly down during their playtime.
Tuesday 20th sept: 3 hours downtime
Saturday 17th sept: 4 hours downtime
Thursday 15th sept: 4 hours downtime
Wednesday 14th sept: 2 hours downtime
Tuesday 13th sept: 12+ hours downtime [i21 we'll forgive!]
So since i21 launch there has been [note that they are the scheduled downtime, there was infact a lot more] 30+ hours downtime nearly all during EU primetime. -
Quote:OOOOHHHHHH I know!
Lets not do any server maintenance ever to interrupt anyone's game time and when the servers break really hard we can have no game for weeks, ya that's better. You all are so right!!!!
[read what people are saying, read that people are asking it to be done during NON EU primetime/daytime for a change]
-
Dear Paragon Studios.
Please do a 12 hour downtime during NA time ONCE.
Yours

You all have too much money

I really enjoyed and like the first part and it did a great job in setting up part 2 and making it already seem worthy of being a 7 part arc.
The unique arcs were well designed and i in particular enjoyed the final hollows arc map. The only downfall about the hollows map was that the lava seemed to have a "wall" effect going up which i wasnt sure if it was to guide the player to the finale or was a glitch.
On my first run with no idea what to expect i died 3 times, mostly due to the insane ambushes in the second mission. I can see being in a team that being handled quite well, but solo i stood no chance on my corruptor.
Verdict: Great maps and setup but ambush needs to be toned down slightly.
Looking forward to part 2! -
Yeah my billing date was yesterday, money already gone out of my bank account too.
-
Quote:Now where did the floating coin touch you?
Seriously, we're now complaining about a feature that telling new players "Hey Story Arc RIGHT HERE" as bad thing? You realize this is staple kind of thing of MMOs, something that people expect and would be criticized if it was absent when this game goes F2P.
Never heard anybody mention them as needed on CoH -
Yesterday i paid for my next months worth of play and as far as i know/understand, i'ld get the 550 [because tier 8] paragon points PLUS an extra paragon merit the day i'ld renew my sub.
As of yet i am yet to receive either and according to my plaync master account page my points balance is still the 200 left it was yesterday. I contacted support last night but apart from the automated response i have had no contact yet.
So im just wondering is my renewal too soon for the extra points/merit to be added to my account or should i chase it up more?
[confused by the situation at the moment].
Yours
