Quote:To avoid that issue entirely, I'm purchasing time before my account expires. I'm using PayPal for this, but I'm not sure if you have to. The idea is that prior to Feb 1, I'll have an account that's playable until the middle of May or so and I'll resume my normal subscription then.Quick question
I have my re-up due in the middle of all this, last year it stepped in the way of me getting the time active rewards. I wanted to make sure this is a smooth transistion (I pay my one year I have ordered next month...)
Is this going to be an issue this year?
Thanks,

Yes! Soon we'll all be able to make... catbirds! I can has wormburger?

Quote:This is probably best handled in another thread, but since I don't now where that thread is...When is Longbow going to get some love? I know of a LOT of characters who have their backstory or character development containing some association with Longbow, while very few if any I've seen have ever referenced Vanguard. I'd trade Lady G and her mini-onions en masse for a set of Longbow costume options.
Devs...please?
I'd also love to see some Longbow/Freedom Corps costume options. Vanguard has had theirs for awhile now and Arachnos has their own AT! Longbow you never hear from unless you one goes rogue, needs to be rescued or you are asked to hunt 30 of them just to get another costume slot. -
Quote:I suppose that's why they call it a loyalty program, rather than a just-cuz-we-like-you program.Cool.. new stuff is always cool! I will keep my account active for sure...
There is one logical thing I notice though and have to say here...
- Last time this happened (loyalty programm) was during the first months of start of CO. I can see it was partly meant to keep players from quitting COX and going over to CO. So those subs where still active if and/when CO would fall flat.
- Now its again... and strangely it falls in the months that DCUO is starting up. I don't believe in coincidence :S
But yeh! to free stuff... -
I am happy to see there are nearly zero players actually complaining about free stuff. It still baffles me there are any though.
WAITER: Sir, because you are such a good customer, management has decided to give you this slice of pie, free of charge. In fact, this pie will be free for you and your entire family and may be enjoyed each time you visit.
CUSTOMER: Why would I want free pie? I can PAY for pie! Cake is worth more to me. Can't I have cake? Or maybe lobster! I know you don't serve lobster but since you are giving stuff away for free why can't I have free lobster? -
I'm under the impression the loyalty stuff above is account wide. It's only the anniversary event badge that's per character and based on login. Hell, I assume that so long as you have an active (meaning paid for) account for the specified duration, you don't even have to log in and you'll get the free stuff.

Three weeks, 4 weekends. I want this.
Oh, and I would really like a "snow day/week/entire event" which actually covers the zones in which would get snow if in reality, in snow. I don't want to have to travel to an alternate dimension to see snow. I live in Phoenix, so I already have to visit an alternate dimension to see snow so I shouldn't have to in the game. -
Quote:LOLThe accuracy nerf to purple drops are costing too much endurance in AE, which has completely wrecked PvP. Furthermore, now that no one plays tankers anymore because brutes can go to blue side, flippers have made it impossible to buy any recipes useful to stalkers, who can't go on TFs because they have too much single target damage. Unfortunately, because AE babies don't know how to access the new content without a server merge, CoH is doomed to buy Going Rogue, and badgers are spamming Atlas Park with questions about how to get to the ferry. The new Ultra Mode graphics are preventing people with Storm Summoning from getting on teams which is a problem because knockback is the best mitigation other than intangibility, unless you are fighting enemies with redraw.
p.s.: Also, the forums have no sense of humor.
No seriously, I LOLed. People in the other room heard me. -
Quote:Or when hunting Skulls and Hellions for badges in Perez when you are like, level 50.Or when the Rain of Fire will kill them before they can run out of its are of effect, which it will do with enough slotting, buffs and Fireball and Fire Breath beforehand.
But yeah, now that you mention it, few things get out of my RoF, but I attribute that more to also using Tar Patch, which on my build has the same recharge. -
Having run a level 50 Fire/Dark Corr for some time, having loved just about every minute of it, and having used Rain of Fire continuously while doing so, I have to say it is was of my favorite powers. It can be tricky though.
Only use it under 2 common situations. Either when all the bad guys are already grouped together and will stay that way (agro'd to the tank, under the effects of a hold/imm/slow, etc), or when you want them to run about randomly instead of standing there and attack you or your team.
RoF is not an alpha strike, it is not a panic button, it is not part of your attack chain. If you are on a team that is unable to keep the targets in a tight group, don't bother using it.
That said, anyone who gets kicked w/o explanation or warning is better off not being on that team. I've never found an exception to this, and on the few times its happened to me, I haven't bothered to try to ask for figure it out. It's really just a chance to get on a better team, which you can only do when not on a team. -
Quote:Mmm...Incarnate System: an insult to skilled players
1. Using the RNG (Random Number Generator) to distribute Incarnate Shards puts them in... reductio ad absurdum.
OMG!!! You are so right! I've always hated the RNG. It totally sucks and robs me of everything I deserve. I don't know how many times I, a highly skilled and worthy player, have been robbed of rewards like Numina++ and LotG+ by undeserving grinders who do nothing but sit at the door while I do all the real work.
So let me know when you are done writing YOUR MMO because I definitely want to play game with such a fair and balanced system of rewards. PM me when you are almost done because I just need to beta that.
It should be fun!
Or...
Bwuahahahahahahaha!!! That was hilarious. I haven't seen rich satire like this in a really long time. I especially loved where you suggested we replace the RNG you hate with a completely different RNG which you don't. What a great way to kick off the weekend. Thank you, Fritzy! Kudos to you. -
Thanks for the advise Mandu. While I consider myself a bit of a techie and computer nerd, I've rarely gotten under the hood of my machine for anything other than to clear out the dust once in awhile. I bought the 430 off the recommendation of a store rep, which I learned could be really really good (if the rep plays PC games) or really really bad (if the rep doesn't, like it turns out was the rep I had). The 430 was a much better card than what I already, but it was more like trading in my old Mustang for a brand new Hummer. Both are awesome but the one just doesn't do what I want it to do, at least not in the machine I put it in.
The 430 works fine in my wife's machine though. Different motherboard and processor, which is probably what made the difference there. -
-
Yep, those are definitely C, and I double checked with a 2nd application (SpeedFan) to verify the readings. Looking inside the case nothing is really obstruction the fan, but the way the card sits the fan is blowing into an empty cavity with poor ventilation so it may just not be able to do its job. This is one of the things I've never liked about HP products, is that they are really compact and don't leave a lot of room in the case for anything.
I've returned the card and replaced it with a different, older/slower card. It's not the performance I really want, but upgrading to a card which is likely to give it to me will require me to make other upgrades (at least a new power supply and case) I'm not ready to make yet.
Thanks for the help, discovering the overheating would have taken forever without otherwise. -
I have no idea how hot too hot is, but the GPU Temp usually sits around 65-80 C, and when the game is on it's more like 80-100+ C. After watching the temp while attempting to play, the temp rises really quick then crashes shortly after getting to 100C. I also tried the game in Windows mode, and it kept the temp down to 80C but it still crashed.
EDIT: I just found out that GPU-Z doesn't display updates unless it's on top, so I have no idea what the temp was while playing in windows mode. I had just kept it open next to the game window and marveled and how the temp didn't rise while playing. I guess I know why now.
What happens during the crash is the monitor turns off (due to signal loss, just like it does when I power down the comp or it hibernates. The power is still on with the comp, and I have to manually restart it to get any response from anything. The comp experiences the same crash in other MMOs I try to play.
Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.
Quote:quickly looking over the logs, I don't really see any system problems, the the drivers look good. nothing really sticks out.
try this real quick, download GPU-Z from techpowerup. run it, and look at the sensors tab while the game is running. see what the GPU temp is.
Load CoX in windowed mode and see if you can do anything different. (if your not already doing that.)
The monitor going dark and turning off is an indicator that the monitor has lost signal. it sounds like the video card is directly shutting down. so, my last question, do you have to manually reboot the PC, or is there something your able to do to recover without shuttingdown? -

I'm not sure why, but it has my massively frustrated. I just upgraded the graphics card in my PC to a NVIDIA GeForce GT 430 and I can't really play CoH anymore. What happens is I log in just fine, I can hop around town just fine and even smack around a few critters, but if I turn on too many toggles (or just one with lots of pixels), try to change zones, or attempt to adjust my graphics settings, the screen goes black and my monitor shuts down.
I have no idea why it's doing this, so I don't know if I just have a bad card, bad drivers, bad luck or bad anything else.

I wants it! NOW!!!
It would contain a full costume set of a skeleton body, a "ghost" aura with little ghosty things floating about, an emote of the "zombie walk" accompanied by the zombie groan sound which seems to spam during the zombie apocalypse, and the power would be Frightening Visage (click, PBAoE melee radius, enemies Fear Mag 2 for 8s, recharge 20 min). -

Quote:Well as long as there's a good excuse... but I'm still mad.Virtue and at least a couple of other servers were having major problems last night with lag spikes, people getting kicked, and not being able to log in. So I'm thinking there's some extra fixin' that needs to be done today.

Okay... so Thursday is server maintenance day. Even if the server status page hasn't updated for over a week I assume the scheduled maintenance still takes place. That said... does it usually take more than the stated 2 hours or is today just weird?
