  1. It's not like its useful in PvP, after the tohit check, its got what, a whole 6 seconds duration on that target after the range nerf. Though I will say if the taunt acted more like a stun status effect it would be a hell of alot more useful(at least from pvp p.o.v.) .

  3. Same points getting raised again and again. The choice is entirely dependant on play style and Powers/Primary set decisions. From there it'll involve you're knowledge of the game mechanics.

    I have a Dark Melee/Ice Armor tank near level 35 without taunt, holds agro just fine, probably won't get taunt for a while on that one. Invuln tank I've planned to take taunt, but not till much later and most likely after a respec, I can hold agro fine, as long as you talk to your team and explain what you are doing and what they need to do, to help you do it there shouldn't be any problem.
  4. I know what you mean, playing me dark melee/Ice Armor tank this weekend, we had 3 defenders, 1 empath, 1 Ice and 1 Forcefields. Just about every attack was deflecting.
  5. Indeed quickness is one of them necessary things, I think i'd rather be the nasty AoE brute anyways ^_^

    Quickness imo is basic to boost your DPS and will make you build fury faster.

    Cycling attacks will be the way forwards I agree. Was easy enough to time attacks and build a suitable attack chain in WoW, it'll work here ^_^ thanks for your comments guys.

    Thanks for advice mate, thanks to everyone who posted too. Unfortuately when it crashed again thursday night that was the last time. After that the graphics card would no longer start and I could tell from the boot up that it was knackered now, text was all over the place and scrambled in parts. Replaced today with Nvidia 9800GT. However I will most likey be upgrading again soon as I've found a great deal on the 9800GTX+.

    Sorry guys I gave the wrong impression, I was talking about the Nvidia whql driver set that came before 175.19 on the driver details it was listed as version 6.x.5822.

    I don't run any third party skins or mod's for the windows interface as there's too much to go wrong.

    However I tried logging in again late last night as one of my brute's, with reinstalled driver's for 175.19 from nvidia. This time the colours didn't go mental, but the game still hangs and takes the system with it. Driver's have finally stopped corrupting so there's some good news.

    I've been running tests but I think part of the issue will be down to the windows updates, but they all keep failing.
  8. Indeed I guess I can probably drop tentacles and pick up midnight grasp, but there's always the issue with the rest of them, dropping something important to make up for attacks. There just seems to be nowhere between for it to meet.

    Hopefully the boosted damage from soul drain, fury at maximum and all the little recharge bonuses are going to make up for fewer attacks by pushing them out more often. I could always do away with taunt. Of course people then complain.

    If push comes to shove I guess it will just have to be that I replace taunt, soul tentacles and quickness with attacks. I'm just not that keen on gives up quickness.

  10. Good point about the Miracle +recovery, I will change that later when I have a chance. I figure most times I'm going to be in SG teams, so they'll offset the small amount of single target attacks. The accuracy I have been bad and left down to Soul Drain, but there's also tactic's to help with tohit. I know there's about 25 seconds without SD, but in Big Teams should on need that a few AoE's.

    The tentacles on the other hand I didn't choose for damage, merely there to immobilize mobs before DO. It's not likely to be a build I use till its level 50 anyway and have more then enough vet. respec's available

    After looking at this I am going to replace the 2xRechrgRed. with 2xHealing as the recharge time is fine now thanks to other set bonuses. The "Numina's Convalescence - Heal: Level 30" was a mistake it is going to be changed to a Miracle set IO, I was up kinda late fixing my graphics after the latest Blue screen error.

    Hey I've been having a real pain with this, since the newest patch was released on the 23rd. I've only been trying to get on as my Dark Melee/Ice Armor Tank, will try others after work.

    The Issue doesn't come with any warning, just the screen turning a funny shade of green, yellow and black in some places. The game then hangs, subsequent reboots after this will cause computer to reload to the same garbled screen. Seems that when this problem occur's it also corrupts my graphics drivers. It's happened 4 times now always after about 5 minutes of logging in.

    I spent about 2 and a half hours last night checking the integrity of my HDD, later I'll clean up registry. Unfortunately I haven't got any logs from this.

    Imagine the only advice i'll hear is uninstall the game, then install again, and spend all evening patching
    though any advice would be welcome.

    I know touch of death isn't great for accuracy, but its not rubbish either, they just help to up melee defense. I slotted gaussian's Sync. fire control in Soul Drain, which will be one of the most used powers. So Smite goes from 121.1% tohit =&gt; 274.6% with 7 Foes hit.

    Honestly mate, it makes up some more chance to avoid being hit by stuff like Nemesis, CoT and the rest of them buffed monsters. You also overlooked the Endurance recovery aspect of the power, In my build if you've looked at the hero planner you'll see goes from 156% (2.6/s) =&gt; 353% (5.9/s). It is at the soft cap.
  15. With CJ active it's soft capped, reason i went with the patron set was for the 6 slot on blood mandate. slot 5 and 6 both other 3.75% one for ranged and one for AoE, not to mention a pet with the ability to slow attacks and tohit debuff further.

    Simply put Tough is for resistance, about 15% max which isn't worth getting on a toon thats only got defense. Weave relies on Tough, and maneuvers would drain to much endurance to be of any help.

    As for slotting the autopowers, You will never get more then 8.8% max defense from them and thats with 3 slots. Which is why I've put in 2 slots to get the bonus from luck of the gambler.

  17. Thanks for the input. I finished a build on MHD last night I'll post it after work. I have kept Elude and 6 slotted performance shifter. Might still need tweaking as I think my AoE defense worked out about 47%, either ranged or melee was just 1% short of the softcap.
  18. Ah cheers mate, now that makes sense. Wouldn't that soft cap suggest that odds are more stacked against defense as damage mitigation.

    Will Elude be worth getting after hitting 45% soft cap? Just seems like resistance is pushed a little more then complete mitigation. Did choose DM for soul drain, but the tohit-debuff was an added bonus.
  19. Whats the soft cap about mate? I keep hearing it being used but nothing about how you reach it. I did plan on taking the ghost widow epic set as more tohit debuff will help with getting hit less.

    I'm assuming you mean placing the defense sets when you refer to the soft cap. In which case i'll be trawling through the hero planner to set it. My other worry was slot placement. Is it reasonable to put 2 slots in the auto powers in SR? using 2xEnd.Rdx. and 3xDefense for toggles.
  20. Just after any comments that will help on this build, Sets for defense upto cap, not sure if its more worthwhile going for recharge though. I hear there's better ways to play then Perma-Elude.
  21. lol funny thing was I'd considered doing that. Hows the damage look on the attacks? When I was slotting it I was kind of tied between choosing one more damage IO on each or a recharge.

    Both work out the same I guess though, more damage and things die quicker, and being able to use powers quicker means less down time on some better powers.
  22. Finally finished it.

    What I've done this time is drop the epic pool for medicine, left PBAoE till after level 30 where it'll more likely help a group. This allowed me to pick up better resistance's earlier and also acrobatics is taken at level 22. Lunge I've left slotting till late in the build same with spine burst. Lunge doesn't cost much and it's not a massive hitter, Spine Burst is slowest recharge in that powerset.

  23. WP is supposed to be very good for pvp, there's a fair few resistance's/defense, enough regen to sit nicely below the regen powerset, good amount of def/resis. to psi and good perception bonus which is a must have for pvp.

    Lots of people will spec into stealth for pvp so they can get the drop on you, +perception takes away their ability to do that so you can focus on smashing their face's in ^_^

    Forgot to mention knockback protection in WP which is a great help since acro. got that nasty nerfing.
  24. Personally speaking I'm always for speccing taunt, even if it's just for occasional use to pull agro back off the squishy one's. From the moment I rolled a tank I knew it wasn't going to top damage metre's or for that matter have many people in teams listen.

    What does matter is how aware the tank is of the rest of the team and their agro. Knowing the sets you've chosen and how capable you are of using these abilities to manage the given situation.

    After playing as long as some of us have you'll see people do crazy things, if it goes wrong then you put it down to experience and if it works then great

    We won't change people's playing styles by posting here sadly, but hopefully its somewhere to start for anyone that wants to be a tank in the true sense.

    It's not something I'll be using as a main for a while. Already have claws/SR scrapper on the go. Respec'd at level 14 so I could slot it with DO's, So I'll probably post a spec for that too.

    Part of the problem with acrobatics is just where to fit it in. Before level 20 I'm often trying to get fitness and travel powers, so it would probably mean dropping something from level 18 which means loosing either defense/resistance or an extra attack before getting Stamina. Is it acceptable to get this somewhere after level 20?
