    Moving Day!

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I am sad to hear about the move. I applied for the Windows Administrator job, and got an initial interview. However the HR person indicated that they planned to hire the position in time to have them on board for the opening of the new studio. The new studio is now open which means, I suppose, that I didn't get the job. :/

    *sigh*

    [/ QUOTE ]
that's unfortunate to hear (especially since you're the 2nd person in this thread w/a story like that). i had a similar experience back in '04. i was working with hr and waiting on word about the decision, and...nothing. after a week+ of waiting, i gave myself my own word. advice for ncsoft: there is more than enough room for improvement in the hiring process that cryptic had. don't miss the opportunity to take advantage of it. leaving people out in the cold about hiring decisions after all of the effort it takes applicants to get there is...i'll just say it's not a good thing to do.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, it's becoming fairly standard from what I've seen, for companies to say "Only those hired/called back will be notified". It sucks, but when you are dealing with dozens, or perhaps hundreds, of interviewees... all those calls take time, which really, could be better spent elsewhere.

Or so, the theory goes. While I've not had to go through it myself, my wife has, probably a good 5-6 times the last few years. The waiting sucks, the not knowing sucks (especially up here, where some positions spend 6 months (!!) in limbo before a decision is even made), but... what can you do?

Man, I wish I had some, any of the skills y'all need...

Those job openings make me depressed every time I see them.

Congrats on the new digs, though!

    Cryptic article.

Oh - and I'd love to do a giant mech game. Love it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well since Microsoft Media has the rights to Battletech for the electronic gaming angle (Xbox, PC, etc), see if you can bring back a great series..

    [/ QUOTE ]

Like what was said above me, I would prefer an origonal setting to an old one.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd absolutely love to play a real mech based MMO (What I've seen of Exteel doesn't exactly do it for me), and if Cryptic did it, that'd just be a huge bonus. I'd love to see it so much, I really wouldn't care if it were Battletech, an original, Rifts (Though good luck getting the license for THAT), Robotech, hell, even one of the many other worlds that have been made already.

Now, I'd rather something new, but I'd take what I could get. Heck, I've been considering Exteel even though it's not my kind of game at all, just to get a giant robot fix.

As to the rest of it, I do hope that CoX sticks around for a long time. I suspect it will, though I think that MUO will hurt it pretty badly. Well, assuming Cryptic doesn't drop the ball with MUO and make something so bad that no one wants to play it. But while 5 years ago I'd agree that there weren't enough comic geeks to support more than one superhero game (Heck at that time, a lot of people thought CoH wouldn't make it because of the (then) superhero curse), these days Marvel in particular, and comics in general are actually more popular (mostly because of the movies that have been made). Well, maybe not popular, but more recognisable, and that's often enough. So, there's still hope.

And now, this has gotten far longer than I intended. Course, I'm not the one who has to suffer through the reading of it, so that's not so bad.

I'm not saying this just because I'm a "city of" fan, like most of us who post on these forums are, but..

I don't see how a marvel based mmo could succeed. The thing about "City of" is that the heroes and villains are completely original. With a game based on Marvel everyone will be clamoring to be Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, etc. The Originality factor goes to the wind.

I'll be sticking to "City of" thank you. The variety of costume options in this game speaks bounds for what this game is about-- ORIGINALITY. A Marvel game will never be able to top this game on that count.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are you serious? If what you posit is true, Hollywood would never make a sequel or remake of anything.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And really, for the most part, the world would be a better place...

Because few people like having NO progress to make all the time..

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course, this doesen't take into account that they are working on new content for the 50 crowd.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The important part of that sentense is "working on".

I'm fairly sure I read somewhere that they were gonig to add something in the 35-40 range before any level 50 stuff was made. So, we are looking at a minimum of 6 more months (2 issues). With that said, we don't know that CoH will be getting issues every 3 months or so any more, what with CoV needing them as well. And with the first CoV issue having levels and PvP stuff to 50, I expect that will cross over into CoH as issue 7. Thus, earliest I see for 50+ stuff is I9, in 9-12 months (depending on the problems they have between now and then).

Now, I could be wrong, but honestly, I would be shocked if there were meaningful, non-PvP, level 50 content in the next issue. And even that means another 3 months of waiting.

I mean, really, I did everything I could to avoid 50, short of deleting my character when he got to 40. Spent absolutely silly amounts of time in debt (all of 45-49, much of 49-50), worked off untold millions of debt (I'd like to have a record of it somewhere, it'd be nice to know). Did all my missions (finished them before 49, no less). Got most of the badges (Most, not all, since I won't use cheat sites for location based badges, or plaques). Now, I'm forced to hunt for Prestige (solo yeilds better Prestige than any team up to 5 for sure), or so Shadow Shard missions (which given fly time and the risk of getting killed...).

Really, is this the point of the end game? To endless camp the same dozen or so spawns, killing the things there over and over, just so you earn a few paltry Prestige?

    /rant

Honestly, I think there should be some slight reward for actually getting to 50. Thing is, I think the Dev's would rather punish us for managing it (Kinda like they did by handing us the Kheldian ATs...). And I don't see that changing any time soon.

    Working on it...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Jack..PLEASE DONT. This so called early game last 2-4 hours of game time.

If people are tired of the content for ALTs they can just street sweep and actually level faster...

Please direct your efforts on the HIGHER LEVELS. Maybe post-40 content as well?

    [/ QUOTE ]

While I'd love more higher level stuff, the fact is that the lower level game lasts 2-4 hours, per character, not 2-4 hours. For someone with 50 characters thats 100-200 hours total. For someone like me, with over 100 total characters (in CoH), thats 200-400 hours, more time than I've spent in any other level range (except possibly the level 50 crash zone). In CoH, it's bearable. In CoV, doing the same missions over and over... I'd like at least a bit more variety. Besides, it's not like it'll take that much work to pull off.
  7. Very cool.

Nice to know both my highest levels are among the rarest combos. And Mauve is actually close to 50 (well, more or less, hitting the debt cap will slow me a tad). I'll have to push eventually to finish off the last 2.2 levels.
  8. [ QUOTE ]

I have participated in 3 Hami Raids, all open on my server, all successful, all resulting in me coming away with the exact Hami O that I wanted through a liberal use of trading.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lucky you. So far, I've taken part in 2 raids, once successful, one not, and gotten 400k debt, and exactly 0 Hami-Os, despite using Jack at the last minute to generate an extra HO.

Considering, as far as I know, Protector has managed 2 successful raids, total, so far, I'm doing well on participating, and about average on the HO front. The team I was on managed a total of 0 HOs, and that included 3 controllers. Not a great record for Protector.

And no, I can't actually use them, but it would be nice to have them for once I can. Alas, that doesn't seem likely any time soon. Thankfully, PvP is not on my list of priorities anyway.
