While he's spamming massive AoE damage the scrappers all run away for the 1 minute that he does it. Being scrappers they do a lot of damage and can easily kill him faster than a 'perfectly balanced team' so they could still down him within the 5 minute limit without being able to fight him for that 1 minute.

I've done the ITF several times including a 'master of.' We ignored his pets completely and tank and spanked him everytime. He's a unique AV in that my boredom of having to tank and spank yet another AV is amplified by having to kill him the same way 4 times in a row. It holds no risk factor or challenge in any way. Oh if you don't want to be stunned when he respawns then you run behind a wall after each death. That's the only strategy needed.

Blasters have only one function and that is to deal massive damage. My opinion is that such a focused class needs someone to take the aggro for them to really shine. If you have a good tank herding 2 mobs at a time then you just fire AoEs into them until they die. Or am I missing something? If you're saying you find it hard to solo with them then you've simply chosen the wrong AT for solo play. It's the same with most defenders and controllers needing a damage dealer with them because they are focused on control/buffs. I couldn't solo my human form peacebringer because he was just perma held/stunned until killed so I feel your pain.

My beef is against tank and spank boss fights. However even for those you need the Tank/meat shield and spank/blasters or scrappers. I don't see how my example is any different. You don't need anti mez you just need 1 break free and an ability to run around the room.

Yeah fair enough. Nice to discuss this stuff with you though

Hence why I said players would need to formulate a strategy/read a walkthrough rather than just tanking and spanking everything in the entire game.

And they could be ressed/use an awaken. Or they could read the walkthrough. God forbid that someone actually faceplants once in a while.

Which is why I said that a break-free would work. You wouldn't need an empath if you had the right inspirations.

You always want to beat everything in the game with your cookie cutter group of veterans on the first attempt using the same tank and spank all the time with no challenge whatsoever?

Which is why this wouldn't be a normal AV. Hence my comment that the devs would have to put a warning on this kind of content that easymoding players need not apply.

Also, if you re-read my description of the fight there isn't anything that requires a particular team make up. You could beat the AV with just a team of blasters if you learned how to kite effectively or a team of scrappers if you took turns getting the aggro. The problem is that the average CoH player is used to just jumping into/herding a mob, trouncing them all in a matter of seconds and then moving on. Having to learn actual boss fight dynamics would be a bitter pill to swallow for people used to mashing buttons on their keyboard whilst rooted to the spot.

Whereas people like me will happily team wipe a thousand times trying to figure out a tactic for a certain boss and think it's all worth it for the adrenalin hit of finally defeating the sucker. But i'm in the minority so there's no point the devs bothering to spend time creating this kind of content. Instead i'll take my own group of fully IO'd veterans and tank and spank my way through 18 months of Going Rogue development in 2 days

I just wish the devs would spend a month playing Guild Wars to see just how challenging and unique different missions can be made. Then implement a bunch of story arcs with warnings attached to them that they are hard so please don't be a whining, easymoding crybaby if you can't complete them.

Ask yourself, how many missions in CoH need a walkthrough to explain the tactics needed for victory? Yep, none. Now don't get me wrong, I love this game but it needs some variety, especially at the top end. Players, (I hope) would be much more inclined to stick around and slot their toons with IOs if they thought there was some top end content that really needed them to be at their best to complete them.

Imagine this. You get to the final AV and start the fight. All doors leading into and out of the AV room slam shut. Teleport is surpressed so team mates trapped outside cannot get in. Players inside cannot get out, (in other words you have to ensure your entire team is in the room before you aggro the AV). Seems tank and spank as usual until:

    1) 1 minute into the fight, the AV places a debuff on the whole team that 50% of all damage done to the AV will be reflected back at them. The debuff lasts until they have clear mind type power recast on them or use a break free. At this point, your empath will have a panic attack.

    2) 2 minutes into the fight the AV starts to spam an AoE attack that does massive damage. Only a tank having direct heals placed on them constantly will be able to take the damage. Players would have to kite him for the duration or stay out of range and directly heal the tank. At this point your scrappers have a panic attack. AoE spam lasts for 1 minute.

    3) 3 minutes into the fight, the AV will let loose a cone attack that debuffs the resistances and defence of any player it hits. 100% resistance debuff to everything. Obviously this will be directed at whoever has the most aggro at the time, usually the tank. Clever teams will have to have their tank take the hit and click a lot of orange inspirations to counteract the effect or devise a strategy of having a scrapper taunt the AV at the 3 minute mark and possibly sacrifice himself. Debuff wears off after 45 seconds.

    4) 4 minutes into the fight, the AV will break aggro every 15 seconds and charge the player stood furthest away at superspeed and start pounding on them until taunted back to the tank. Blasters, defenders and controllers have their panic attack.

    4) 5 minutes into the fight, the team should have killed him by now. Slow teams will be punished by having all the AVs attacks become single target hits for 20,000 damage and his speed is buffed up to superspeed levels. You might be able to still kite him, but otherwise you are in big trouble and will all be killed. The doors to his room open and you can respawn at the hospital. You will need to try again.

The other complaint I have about this game is that IOs can be purchased from the market. I'd much prefer it if you could only earn them with merits and they were non-tradeable. It would give us all a reason to continue playing our toons after level 50. Whereas the current situation is this:

    1) Hit level 50
    2) Go to Wentworths, buy low, sell high, log off
    3) Repeat 2 until you have enough inf
    4) Slot your toon without doing a single mission and do it ten times faster than the poor farmers who stand with their imps outside Portal Corp.

If the Devs ever implement another method of giving toons a power hike then please make it something we can't just purchase. I'd much rather have to grind and feel like I achieved something for a lot of hard work rather than just put a few bids on.

    X4: The draws

It's my sisters 40th on Saturday 13th Sept so i won't be around. My team (Cannon Fodder) was kinda geared towards being available on Sundays for this if posiible.

I have to admit that was epic lol. Was a fun match, and considering the scores your entire team was nice about it at the end still, very good sportsmanship IMO.

Yeah I guess the common reaction to a loss is to scream that pvp is unbalanced and that x/y should be nerfed but our team has been around long enough to know that we were simply beaten by better players.

I think I'll take you guys up on the offer of practise, (so long as it doesn't end with a Rocky III style montage of us all running down a beach in knee high socks hugging each other).

Our new goal is to actually defeat someone in the next match.
  6. Nice music but i don't like the footage much

Big respect to the 'Not Team Pyroz' guys, you really taught us a lesson there. Your footage missed off the funniest part of the fight for us, where Psicho Nicky killed our entire team in the first 5 seconds of the fight using one blast. We knew the writing was on the wall right there.

You guys obviously put a lot of effort into your prep and you deserved to win. Congrats again fellas.

  8. I'd like to see the Exploration badges listed alphabetically and the two extra tabs added for Flashback badges and Crafting badges to reduce the length of the Achievement badges.

I also fully support Valk's difficulty selection suggestion.
  9. AH could be improved to speed up the process e.g.

    1) Currently we have to keep remaking and cancelling offers everytime we want to change the amount of inf offered or the amount of items we wish to buy. Would be good if we could click on a recipe to make an offer of 0 for each of the salvage required to make it so that they appear in the AH offer slot. Then enter an amount into the AH slot for the offer we wish to make and the number of items we need. (Hope that makes sense). If we then want to change either of these amounts at a later date we could type over the current offer and click a submit button instead of having to search for the item again and entering another offer.

    2) When crafting a standard IO at a workbench they are often lost in the list of recipes and you have to scroll down to find the one you want. A tab could be added that lists just recipes we have in our inventory.
  10. Uh oh, who am I gonna steal all my costume ideas from now?

I remember Spiritess holding my hand 3 years ago in my first week on the game. I'll keep your SG seat warm for you.

Although we've never met, i consider you a good friend and your help has been invaluable over the years. Best of luck with all your big plans and I hope you come back soon.
