  1. Anyone else notice that the lead Tumbler has a modified passenger side?
  2. I am just happy that Amy will be back for series 7.

In terms of story, I think it is rather unfortunate that I saw what I saw online a while back. It may hold the answer to what happens.

Lets break this down. When Stargate SG-1 premiered, Michael Shanks was 26, Richard Dean Anderson was 47, Amanda Tapping was 31, and Christopher Judge was 32.

When SGU preimered, Louis Ferreira was 42, Brian J. Smith was 28, David Blue 27, and Elyse Levesque was 24.

They aren't the same but it isn't like the cast is made up of teenagers.

Also, in terms of the shaky camera being the Kinos, they aren't. The Kino footage only appears every now and then and is represented by a layer placed over the footage to frame it. The footage itself does not get the shaking treatment.

Edit: Didn't see the newer post while I was typing this.
  4. As probably my last real post on the forums before my account goes dark I thought Ii would point out that there are a number of fans that are now trying to get SGU some attention for a third season by purchasing the episode Resurgence on January 4th on iTunes. More info can be found here.

Personally I would love to see this work but I doubt it will. At least it would show that there is a fan base willing to pay for the episodes on iTunes but for Syfy, that doesn't really matter so much as it has no affect on how much they can charge for advertising when the show airs. I also doubt a dedicated fan base, unless larger, is going to get Syfy to realize their stupidity in moving shows to Tuesday since they love the money that Wrestling brings in.

Since I probably won't be able to post by the time SGU returns for the last half of it's now final season, I think it should be considered just to have a universal thread for the episodes if there will be one. After all, not a lot of posts really happened each week so it may be best just to unify them all.

    Sorry not buying that logic.
Where did you get that from?

My first logical guess at how the cancellation stops the SGA movie is that SGU being canned makes it look like interest in the Stargate series is dead so MGM won't put down the money for it as it starts going again.
  6. Syfy, while not the only network it airs on, seems to be the main network that gives it the go ahead before it is offered to other networks across the world.
  7. That pseudo Tardis from last season seemed like too big of a thing yet it was kind of brushed aside like it was a one episode thing. At least that is the impression that I got from it. Still though, I always knew it was something too big to not bring back in the end. Glad it was in the preview so I know that I was right about it coming back.
  8. My guide says 1 hour 20 minutes and then a 40 minute Christmas Special for Graham Norton with Matt Smith as a guest.
  9. To add to the Christmas Special airing, they are also showing Doctor Who at the Proms at 1 pm.
  10. For those of us that did enjoy SGU for what it was, there may still be a future. According the the producers, Syfy's licensing fee was only a small part of their funding and they are currently talking to MGM about possibilities for finishing the story.

    Quote:
“Obviously, it doesn’t look good,” he said. “But is this the end? Well, the Syfy cancellation makes it very long odds that we’ll be producing a third season next year. But is this the end? … The honest answer is: I don’t know.

“No, that’s not entirely true. The truth is I do know some — but only enough to say it doesn’t look good and it’s very log odds we’ll be producing a third season next year — yet still only enough to say I can’t say this is definitely the end. At least for now.”
Edit: To add to this, MGM announced that it has now completed the reboot and has secured $500 million funding to get operations moving forward once again. Source.

  12. Some of you may find some interest in this article, it is an interview with the screenwriters. They discuss things like the mythology as well as key decisions that they made. One thing they do say is that the club is a way to show evolution within the programs.

He did remain faceless other than in the flashback but the dual discs were partially meant to show that it was really Tron. There is even a T on the Rinzler's outfit that matches that of Tron.

Edit: Also, in Tron Evolution, Tron has the upgraded suit that Rinzler is wearing in Tron: Legacy.
  14. There has to be some conversion in the whole process because keep in mind that programs would partially corrupt when damaged while users would actually get injured. It isn't like Users were converted to be fully digital and back when going in and out of the grid.

Also, did I mention that I created a chopper variation of the light cycle for the contest IMAX is having on facebook? Sorry, just trying to get votes since tomorrow is the last day.

Sam's Identity Disc would have been the exact same or very similar to Kevin's and thus CLU, once again, could have just taken the his disc and left...

If you don't see any of the problems with that ooook...
I think it is more along the lines of Kevin's having the master code on it which is what Clu wants.
  17. I keep thinking about the film and I keep thinking that I really need to go back and see it again in case I missed something. Still seeing a lot of mixed reviews between people on the movie although I am going to continue to tell people to go see it.

I am going to side step a little bit in this thread. IMAX is having a contest on Facebook to design a Tron: Legacy inspired Light cycle. Now entries have closed but it is in the voting phase which is the reason for this. Could you wonderful beings vote for my design, the Light Chopper? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
  18. Just thought I would quickly point out incase anyone doesn't know; Tron: Legacy in 3D isn't another one of those conversions. It is a legitimate 3D film and gives purpose to 3D by having it in use when in the digital world.

Edit: Just recalled that someone in here mentioned that these characters don't glow like in the original. Regarding that, I don't think the actual intention was to have the entire characters glow. I watched an interview with Jeff Bridges and he said that for the original, it was filmed in black and white and then outsourced to companies that added in all the color frame by frame. For this, they did it the way it should have been done by actually having the lighted suits when it came to filming so the completely glowing look is taken away.

  20. Gateworld has posted an article with 6 reasons why SGU was canceled.

Edit: Fixed the link so now it goes to the first page of the article.
  21. I saw it this morning in IMAX at the local AMC in the mall. Good enjoyable film with great visual effects. One thing I thought was awesome about seeing it in the IMAX theater was that the theater would rattle from the sound.

Fun moment happened after I had already seen the movie. I figured that because I was at the mall during the holidays and I had a good parking spot, I should see if there was anything I needed to get for chirstmas. My mother asked me to go by Bath and Body Works to get a hoiday lotion for one of her co-workers. I go to get it and felt really out of place being about the only guy in there. There were a couple others who were there with someone else but I was alone. Don't know why but I mentioned why I was at the mall and that I was asked to go there to the cashier. The girl freaked out with the mention of Tron and then the cashier next to her realized I mentiond Tron. She then started freaking out.

If Syfy had given them a final season, they could have but from what I have been hearing on Twitter, this season is already finished. I don't think Syfy should have really called it quits on the series when there are still 10 episodes left. Especially considering that the series was finally going somewhere.
  23. One reason funding was pulled away from the movies was that sales indicated that the direct-to-DVD market was gone. Then there was the whole bankruptcy thing that MGM is now starting to pull out of. Maybe they still have faith and will try to sell SGU to another channel or they will move on to something else then bring back the SG1 and SGA movies when they have the funding.

It isn't and they even admit it. They just felt that they had to have something that passed for sports.
