- Option to remove all color codes (between < and > )
[/ QUOTE ]
Never mind this one. I found the filter, silly me.
As to the reason this may be a useful program ... well, turn on 'Log Chat' in options and then some of us might have very interesting conversations they want a permanent record of, or simply a mechanism so you don't have to write down any email addresses that you may be given in chat, or to keep a record of anything your long distance gf or bf says. Probably dozens of other reasons I haven't thought of as well, but there is no 'technical' reason you have any need of this. -
Good job so far. I've been keeping log files and editing them using Word's Search and replace functions, but this is much easier. If you continue development may I make some suggestions:
- Option to remove all color codes (between < and > )
- List the name of the current log file in the title bar
- When saving, default to the name of the current file
- Have the app memorize user's standard settings. I ALWAYS edit out Arena, Broadcast, Help, etc except for certain character overrides in Fine Control
- Might be nice to ask as a user selects a character for Fine Control, whether they want the settings to apply in future log file 'cleanings'
Nice job in any case -

Im new to base building. How do I move the entrance to my base. Its the only room I have right now and I want to put it in the corner of my plot, but the editor won't let me move it at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
You don't. You go into Plot Upgrade, select the same size plot and put it in a new position. -

So, after an extensive effort to create a bind file which binds each key 4 times over (Key, Shift+, Ctrl+, Alt+), I loaded it up for the first time to test it out, only to discover a few issues, the most shocking of which is that there is a limit to the number of keybinds one may have!
Does anyone know what the maximum number of keybinds is?
Seperately and only partially related:
What is the maximum number of characters allowed in a keybind, and where do you start/stop counting?
Completely unreltated, I was trying to come up with a bind that would say hello to four different global channels.
Can anyone speculate on how the following bind (used in a bind file) might be fixed?
SHIFT+F1 "e Hi$$send "[Chan1]" Hello Heroes!$$send "[Chan2]" Hello, everyone!$$send "[Chan3]" Hi, everybody!$$send "[Chan4]" Greetings, fellow heroes!"
Lastly:
[color=yellow]What is the difference between beginchat and startchat?
[/ QUOTE ]
On the first part, how do you know there is a limit to the number of binds? I have quite few keys with binds on all the combinations of CTRL, ALT, SHIFT etc. and they all work. What error did you get?
On the second part, I believe that the maximum number of characters in a single line or bind is the standard limit of 255 starting right at the beginning and continuing to the end, although it's possible it's 254 depending on how they implemented it.
On your 3rd item, it is quite possible that it will not let you do the same command repeated in a file in the same way that it will not allow you to repeat a powexec_name command multiple times and have it work. I suggest simplifing to a single channel and testing it first, then add a second to see if that works.
And lastly from the /command list:
"beginchat - Starts chat-entry mode with given string"
"startchat - Starts chat-entry mode"
so you can use beginchat to have a string appear in the box before you start typing -
Well this works on all of mine:
/bind ENTER "show chat$$startchat$$afk Writing prescriptions..."
so if you're doing it in game then press / and then when the cursor moves to the chat line type in:
bind ENTER "show chat$$startchat$$afk Writing prescriptions..."
and press <ENTER>. That should work without problems and post that chat balloon everytime you press ENTER to send a message. -

Possible bug: When you place an item it locks the colors and symbol you have when you place it, and doesn't update when you update your settings.
[/ QUOTE ]
NO, I don't want this changed. It allows you to choose the colours of the SG, place some banners, and then change the SG colours so that any other banners can be the new colours without the old ones updating.
It may not make sense but I'm always in favour of more flexibility rather than less. You can always delete old banners and place them again in the new colours if you prefer. -

I am trying to bind my / on the numpad for deflection shield and i cant get it working does anyone know how to do it?
i'm doing /bind numpad/ "powexecname deflection shield"
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not certain on this since I haven't tried it myself and play on a laptop so I can't test it, but you may find that 'divide' works instead of 'numpad/' so it would be:
/bind divide "powexecname deflection shield" -

Thank you so much for the wonderful bind forum, Winza. I'm having troble on useing bind files so if any one can help me it is listed below. It's saved in Mybinds\team1.txt:
t "bindloadfile team2.txt$$ unselect$$ powexecname Deflection Shield$$ teamselect1"
t "bindloadfile team3.txt$$unselect$$ powexecname Deflection Shield$$ teamselect2"
t "bindloadfile team4.txt$$ unselect$$ powexecname Deflection Shield$$ teamselect3"
and so on till team member 8...
it seems to work untill it goes to a new member. It just keeps the same member selected. Any way to fix this?
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the most likely cause is that you have no path to find 'teamx .txt'. I put all my bind files in a directory C:\CoH so the path is C:\CoH\hero_binds.txt -

Is the advanced workshop/forge backwards compatible? Meaning can I build all items available in basic with the advanced version?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope.
Okay to be slightly more useful, people often buy and sell the tables required as needed so you don't have to have all three (or six) set up and operating at the same time since there is no penalty for selling them. -

I'm back with some more bind questions.
I'm really loving that rolling bind where I say something new eachtime I hit a certain key. So i'm wondering is it possible to make it when I " Teleport Friend " each time I have a new target I say something different? and what would be the command to get that rolling? please and thank you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well if you understand loading a second file to make rolling binds, then all you need is:
<key> "group Teleporting you to me...$$powexec_name Teleport Friend$$bindloadfile C:\<path>\filename.txt"
and in the loaded file use the same command and key to execute and load the next. -

which base items are bugged currently?
Also can someoone explain how the teleporters work? I have the basic teleporter and a beacon, and it doesn't work. Second how do I get the "return to base" option when defeated?
[/ QUOTE ]
The Return to Base option is available when you have an Infirmary or Medical Bay built in your base, and also have sufficient Power and Control to operate it.
A little more explanation on the transporter problem would be useful; what part of the telpad doesn't work? The Tech one can be difficult to use so you need to zoom into first person mode before trying to click on the computer inside the telepad. Possibly this is your only problem. You also need to make sure you have enough Power and Control (seen in the red and green bars in the lower right when in the Edit Base mode) to operate the pads. -

In some of these, I see the secret entrance in the middle of the map. How do you reposition the secret entrance room?
[/ QUOTE ]
Possibly you just mean how do you get the Entrance Room to be in the middle of the map? Thats even easier, just move your plot so that the room is centered and you can build of in all directions. -

Well, it's not much to look at right now, but we hope to do more with it in time. We blew most of our prestige on the land, all we've been able to afford so far is a couple of couches.

1/ You can find a list for CoV HERE and for CoH HERE
2/ the command is /bind _save_file <path> so for example /bind_save_file c:\coh\mastermind.txt

Thanks for the links- although are the names as listed in those tables how the POWEXEC_NAME recognizes them? I thought that some powers had abbreviated forms of the name or strange spaces/no spaces in theoir POWEXEC_NAME incarnations-- is this not true?
I assume the "bind_save_file" command simply downloads and saves a copy of the current bind list on the server and makes a .TXT file with the name specified (mastermind.txt in your example, for instance). Right?
[/ QUOTE ]
As far as I know all the powers are accepted EXACTLY as written. I have always copied them (including spaces) from the Powers tab in the game with no problems.
And correct on the bind_save_file. Since I have different binds on each of my characters I save each one to a different text fie. To load them you use /bind_load_file <path><filename>. I also bind SHIFT+L to do the bind load so I can reload or reset them anytime (after the first manual one) just by pushing two keys. -

Quick questions (sorry if any of this is in the mammoth backlog of this thread already):
1. Is there a complete list of the actual POWER NAMES used with the "powexec_name" command? I'm creating a printable list of all of these binds and I want to incliude it.
2. How do you save a copy of your current toon's keybinds list from the server? I made up several manual keybind lists that I then sent to the servers via the "keybind_load_file" command, but I cannot locate my masters due to a HDD failure issue. Those binds are still working in-game, but I worry abut this bind bug I heard mentioned and would like to save an offline version of them just in case. My Mastermind's getting quite a huge list that I'd HATE to loose.
Thanks!!

WHAT??? All of my hard earned bind's have dissapeared!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
I sure hope everyone backed up their binds locally...Ouch. Just ouch.
[/ QUOTE ] I didn't discover the bug until after I did a /Bind_save
[/ QUOTE ]
In spite of their instructions it is better to do a /bind_save_file C:\<pathname> and then a /bind_save_load C:\<pathname> which gives you more control. I use a different bind file for each of my alts. -

I have to say that so far, I'm not finding PVP as much fun as I had hoped it would be. I know that it will get better with more testing and balance, but right now I'm having more fun levelling up alts than I am PVPing.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to agree with this but am not totally surprised by it. Playing an L35 Emp defender/supporter my experience is based on 3 matches all with no restrictions. A 4x4x4 and a 3x3x3x3 were just total mayhem with no strategies or team work as far as I could tell. As we went in I would cast Fortitude, Clear Mind (on each teammate), Adrenalin Boost, another Fortitude, finish with Recovery Aura and toggle on Tactics and Manoevers and then they charged. After that I spent the rest of the 10 minute matches dying and flying back to my teammates to turn on toggles and try to heal. I got held, slept, frozen, slowed, scared (fear), blasted by pets and blasters, and when I fell to earth ripped up by the melee AT's. Averaged about 8 deaths in each of these matches and only managed to cast 4 or 5 heals and renew AB once or twice. Also had terrible lag in these games. Team may have performed well but it certainly wasn't any fun for my AT.
I also did one 2x2 against a scrapper and controller in which I did a little better. Cast same spells on my tank teammate and hovered above him casting heals as required. Their controller would split attacks between me and the tank and when ever I went down the scrapper would take me out in two hits and then get back to attacking the tank. I think I died 6 times in this one. My tank teammate never died (and did thank me) but with my deaths they easily came out on top.
I never expected to beat an opposing player and don't care about the rankings but I had hoped it would be fun, and it isn't for me. In PoE my mission teams rarely have players go down and I have taken teams through TF's with no team deaths so I think I'm a decent healer. I love being able to keep teammates going against anything but PvP is a waste of time as far as I'm concerned.
