Swings and roundabouts.
Issue 20 will launch MAA, or "Mission Architect Architect". Players can create their own mission creation and editing system for editing missions. Player-created systems will be listed for use by others players, who can rate and reivew the systems. Other players using your system will earn you "ticket-tickets" which can be exchanged for tickets and ultimately ticket rewards.
Issue 20 will also feature Invention Inventions - new enhancements that can be slotted into invention origin enhancements to imporve their effect on your powers. For example, you can slot a set of six "Positron's Metagaming" into one Obliteration IO, increasing its effect on your PBAoE power.
Finally, Issue 20 will introduce the "Flash-Forward" system in a new zone named Soroboruo, where players can play story arcs that the Devs haven't invented yet and won't normally be playable until players achieve level 60, 70, 80 and beyond. The arcs function like mini task forces, where players' levels are increased to the minimum for each arc. Completing Soroboruo arcs earns you reward debits that can be exchanged for invention origin detractions, which can be slotted into powers to decrease their effects. -
I must be tired today, I looked in the announcements and didn't see that thread.
Tomorrow! Kewl! Plus I get my next vet badge Friday so I should be on 969 by the weekend
Edit: Oh that also means I'll give away my last spare NPC code tomorrow when the event starts (the Ghoul one) on BMT. -

Has a start date been set for this year's Halloween event?

[QUOTE] Not relevent. New players cannot create heroes and villains and so cannot go thru their tutorials until after they have gone thru Praetoria. At that point the ability to team in the tutorial is moot. [QUOTE]
Wait...what? Since when can new players not make Hero and Villain characters? I made a villain a few days ago.
Can players who start with buying GR seriously not make real Heroes/Villains? Are they forced to play via Praetoria? If so, that's wacky. -
She downed my Mind/Psi dom the first time but only because I had no idea what she was about to do. Once I realsied "oh! she's like a mini-hamidon" I was fine and then didn't even need to be fine since she surprisingly gave up the fight early.
The "surrender" mechanic is very cool especially when it comes as a relief with a difficult EB. There should be more of this. There should also be the flipside where a boss/EB/AV stops to chat when they reach 25% then if you say the wrong things they regen back to 75% and resume kicking you around the room. That way, you'd never know what to expect during the talky bit
The only difficult fight I found in Praetoria was the mission where you walk into a big office and find Penny's Dad AND some other guy waiting for you and posing dramatically.
I was like "you gotta be kidding me...TWO EBs at once? At level 16?"
Then I confused one into killing the other and fought the survivor, tee hee. -
Awesome. I noticed this yesterday.
I usually count badges in terms of what people are missing. Looks like all you really need is the MoLRSF - where were you last night when we* got it?
You could hit around 983 before I19, leaving you just with a few explore errands on launch day to reach 1,000
Sigh, I wish I could buy the veteran badges with advance time. I should be in the top 5 villains in the entire game but have a constant -7 badge penalty
Still, it was fun racing to 900 and 950 last issue. And I still need MoSTF, MoCuda and Immortal (got close to Immortal but now am back to day job badges for three months)
(* = "we" being 5 people while 3 others held their coats and carried the luggage/camping equipment/golf clubs, lol) -
Thursday sounds good to me.
I'm not very experienced with the Cuda SF. I've done it twice before. I knwo the Kahn TF very well and if I recall there isn't a huge difference until you get to the end. -
Kahlan, TFury, Horus and friends sorta combined like a transformer into something monstrous. I vaguely remember a blur of colours while someone dragged me by the arm down some dark corridors. There was ice and bits of longbow everywhere and I heard some screams then the next memory I have is of seeing the sky above the Atlas statue and Kahlan handing me a Master badge.
I've had this same dream several times before over the past few years but this time I don't seem to be waking up...
Umm. Yes. I shall ponder this day. Moar pondering! -

Quote:I don't want my characters to lose their feet, have hideously wide faces and bodies that appear to be a right-angled triangle from above.Liefeld pack! (Ok maybe I would not buy that. I am not a fan of his art lol. I am sure many players here would like to be covered in more pouches than a marsupials wet dream.)
I would pay for a Liefield Pack if it solely consisted of a smoke aura that obscured the feet, lol -
Quote:And a good thing too!I play Masterminds, even in team content. Take two Masterminds on the ITF and see if you still scoff. The summoner Nictus at the end seems designed specifically to punish teams for having Masterminds.
The funniest thing is where some nutjob confuses the healer so it starts healing off all the pet fluffies and the roman ambushers -
On my stronger characters EB's are fine. I think any of my squishy alts would have a LOT More trouble if they couldn't stack Lucks when fighting EBs, but with the inspirations they usually have at least a 75% chance of winning. Even if you lose to an EB you've usually done enough damage to hosp, refuel and get back in time to finish them off before they've healed up again.
I dont tend to fight AVs or GMs solo. My MM once took down Scrapyard solo with some clever use of terrain and a lot of patience, plus I've duoed quite a few AVs in strike forces (Batzul and Archus are two that come to mind right away, they aren't really that tough).
Some EBs are much harder than others, but of course it depends on your powersets. My main (mind/psi) has an awful time wittling down Citadel or Nightstar, Scirocco for some reason always gives me trouble, Marchand and Aeon in their power suits always manage to hit me through stacked defences and you can never take Lord Recluse lightly when he falls to 25% or below, even at EB level.
The only real soloing I've done of AVs is confusing them to kill each other, like forcing Romulus to defeat his own healer fluffy. -
Issue 20 has a signed NDA because the new uber-incarnate AV is a Superman clone wearing a starfleet uniform and Defender's helmet, wielding a lightsabre with a droid sidekick named Conan-D2 who tosses "meuxhawk bombs" at enemies. Defeating him unlocks the temp power "Wolverine's Claws" and allows you to use fatalities but only if you dress *exactly* like Chun-Li. Superman comes from a planet split in two which ran out of energon. His faction symbol is the Eye of Sauron and he summons Eldar Avatar mastermind pets that can transform into bi-planes but they only fly for 30 seconds before falling out of the sky in disgust.
Completing his task force earns you the "Sued by Everyone" badge, the Metallica emote and a Mickey Mouse non-combat pet. -
The Brute event was funny because he joined a hero SG, which broke any attempt by the Devs and GMs to safetly move him back to redside. I remember seeing Ghost Widow literally chasing the guy around to put him back in the right world

Quote:They fired nine guys who do Jay's makeup each morningSo how was Paragon Studios not focusing on CoH?
Or does the top secret project mean something else?
Or, War Witch decided she didn't need the harem of Harley Quinns that Posi used to keep in his office cupboard.
Or, they fired the team that used to do work on City of Villains. It's okay though, those guys were put in an air-tight room back in late 2006 and were long dead anyways.
Ocho's statement needs to sound more corporate. Not nearly corporate enuff! Moar!
Layoffs should be the theme of an issue update. I'd love to see Citadel and Black Scorpion get fired then set up their own detective agency. That's a Party Pack right there. -
[QUOTE=Creole Ned;3271147]Regarding what the monthly fee for the game covers, NCsoft has this in their Support Knowledge Base:
Question
Why should I have to pay a monthly fee?
Answer
The subscription fees you pay for City of Heroes, City of Villains, Lineage, Lineage II and Aion are used for the following:
A full-time development team that is constantly updating the game with new features to make gameplay more exciting
The availability, maintenance and up-keep of multiple servers for players to choose from, and the addition of new servers as needed
An expanded support team to address any in-game, technical, or billing and account questions or issues in an expedient manner
A full-time Quality Assurance Team to test bug fixes and new features
A network team to minimize downtime caused by any connectivity or server issues that occur
[QUOTE]
I love how the PR team isn't on this list, lol. -
[QUOTE=Bill Z Bubba;3265201]You sound like you run slowly at level 4.
I don't have the mac/valkyrie pack nor the dance pack. I'm glad I've purchased the others. I hope that the devs lost money on the dance pack so that they don't pull that crap again.
[QUOTE]
I'm not sure that's even possible, unless they created the pack by paying a necromancer to raise Michael Jackson for 5 minutes and used motion capture on him for the pop dance.
More likely they *found* the party pack under a coaster left behind by Lighthouse, who was messing around one evening with animations in an attempt to impress BaB.
Or it just grew naturally out of the Cyborg pack, like a piece of fruit. -

They said the powers bit was about creativity. I thought spamming a million zillion temp powers was pretty creative
I didn't expect to win. I should have been DQed when I used the Bio Nuke, since it caused a 5 minute effect on everyone nearby which messed with their costumes (I forgot it ddid that, oops).
I did like Mercede's bio, which was cute. It was the Mis Libery-esque trend that stuck out for me. Also, I thought this contest was about more than just the character's look. I guess I'm still stuck with the old concept where you had to apply in advance, submit survey answers and produce a player pic. Where the chosen server winners were supposed to "represent" their server like mascots
-
Dammit, setting an AE arc up as a mystery with a hidden solution is so great an idea that I should have thought of it!
Sounds awesome, I will wanna play.
Bud will be visited by the ghost of Champion Past (Lord Stryker), the ghost of Champion Present (Cherry) and the ghost of Champion Yet to Come (a Nemesis pony dressed in black) -
I will appear for 8pm
(busy trying to hit Ambassador rank in some other daft MMO atm but can take a break from that. Scanning non-coporeal life forms all day sucks anyway). -
I'd like a go at this. It's been the elephant in the room of my badge collection for some time now. I've definitely been on teams that beat the LRSF with no deaths but that was before the badge existed, which is part of why this badge annoys me.
The other part is just bad memories of how wrong this SF can go and how a lot of players ridiculously under-estimate how difficult it can be.
My Dom can spam mass hypnosis in the final mish but isn't quite perma.
You need good people for this. The sort that race each other to and within missions plus compete over kills and bragging rights. The sort that stay alive and defeat a huge ambush after their entire team has been wiped around them. The ones that think the LRSF is easy and the MoSTF is a piece of cake. Who always grab more Inspirs before going into the next mission.
I also need the STF and Cuda SF. I have the other three (yay). -
Quote:Whenever PERC judge a female CC the winner is the person who looks like a clone of Miss Liberty. I wish I had the screenshots on me to prove it but seriously the past 4-5 CCs I have been to the female winner has been a blonde woman with fat hips wearing a red and blue spandex/miniskirt costume. I still feel dirty from winning the Party Pack competition by creating a blonde "Miss Liberty goes partying" costume, lol.Thank you so much for posting! Sorry I didn't sooner. It was a great turnout and you guys rocked the server! We had some amazing semi-finalists too! I cannot remember them off the top of my head but I will get with our Secretary and get those posted too! Maybe even some screenies! Thanks all for supporting PERC and our events! We love you!
Meh, Champ will never win the overall prize so long as we send clones to the finals, especially clones who only have 57 badges total and 3 exploration badges, no accolades at all and no set bonuses whose name is a jokey pun and whose global was something like "pimpstress".
At least you didn't choose Santa this time
(I'm just bummed since I burned something like 42 temp powers during the arena demonstration round, including an HVAS and nukes but also the original limited blackwand, clockwork connection and the old rikti rifle).
More seriously, with no "villain" categories, it will be rare for an evil-looking character to win and represent their server. It's quite an "all-or-nothing" situation for a judge to choose a villain over a well-made but stereotypical heroic costume.
