OK? So??????
I took the time to earn accolades early on quite a number of characters. Nope it wasn't easy and Yes it was a pain in my fanny. But you all think you should just get the acc's at level one BECAUSE you want them at level 1? LAWL!
If a character has a legitimate reason for skipping an accolade at the earliest possible lvl I am all for THAT player getting an accolade use at lvl1( you know? like there werent villian acc's at the time I made my character) The rest of you are a big bunch of cry babies and don't deserve anything you didn't work to achieve.
If you all want to join a REAL issue? ASK the dev's to please reconsider the current structure of io set bonuses when maled. That's alot more detrimental than flippin accolades. -
Thank you SOOOOOO much for posting the great guide, Snow. Small things make a world of difference and I applaud you for hitting up this niggling irritant and taking the time to let people know about rent cycles so they do not overpay. I wish I had thought of writing a guide on the topic. You rock !!!

Woohooooo..... double or triple....... try quadruple or a sixtuplet? Fun times
THIS is exactly what I didnt want to happen with the thread and why I posted a dummie guide to derail the interest.
On the other hand? Villians have 5 compared to Hero's whatever the number is.14? I doubt they can give it a KH nerfbat swing. At least without providing more sf content villianside.
OP,
I know people that run these easily 4 times a day times 6 times 3 seperate groups having at it and it hasn't made a whit of difference in the bm yet. Even if people run more sf's those same people will keep their drops for down the road and whatever character they have currently in the works.WHY? Because villians are more poor than hero's enfamy vs influence. A villian will think " If I sell this what are the chances I will have the enfamy to procure my drop again later when I need it?"a hero says " I dont need this and have plent of influence if I need one down the road." THATS why there are fewer recipes on the BM than the WW.
very nice and well thought out guide and thank you for taking the time to post.
Candle?
The runner needn't be a well built brute as you put it. I know stalkers that have the whole thing set up in 20 mins. Sometimes less.
Theoretical 'cat is out of the bag" Might as well be constructive -
Ummmmmm........ gah...... ack.......... /emote vomit.
Thank you op for taking the time to put together a guide but I have to agree with every post thus far that discredits the build. Not a good guide. In fact? A very poor character build. -
I like the increased attack rate buff on my doms.Get's my the final %'s I need for perma without slotting more io sets.

It doesnt matter if it's awesome or it isn't. Serp's started the guide in a sober moment and then got progressly sloshed as the guide unfolded. Serp's is Serp's. I personally find ANYTHING he writes highly amusing and enjoy the chuckles.OOOO and I get more chuckles and grins from all the comments from people giving constructive criticism or critiquing the writing style...... Giggle and grin and have fun with Serps!! He//She is a sarcasm guru.
Thank you,Serps!!Awesome guide !!!! You bad bad bad boy!!! -

Perhaps It wasn't really clear what I was implying. I will go on and state that player generated guides are great, yet developer provided raw data would certainly help in building a guide of any sorts. For me, if given the raw data and applicable use for any given game component, I can make my own decisions. It is through testing of application of those decisions which will generate guides on using or inability of using certain enhancements, powers, sets, combinations, et al, towards an intended result. Player guides could include things like: "Building perma hasten in a post I9 world", or "Resistance building for /SR scrappers in post- I9", or even "Knockback: Inventions and body tossing for you!". It should not cost me money to get a Prima Guide, which will be fully outdated shortly after release. Also, I may be wrong, but isn't that guide created by an outside party? If so, then inaccuracies, and misinformation through error or ill intent are just as likely as player generated guides. It is not a theory, but a PRACTICE for veteran SGs to discover unintended effects, anomalies, and even exploits, but not mention them to anyone until they have satisfied some internal timetable. Misinformation, intentional or not is possible. Also possible is editorialization instead of objectivity. I honestly do not like guides that recommend certain powers using a "star" system. You allow personal opinion to influence new players seeking some semi official comment on their build or idea, at that point.
I will give an example of community built informational resource gone awry:
Wikipedia
If you haven't heard about slander, misrepresentation, misinformation, and disinformation in wikipedia of late, I recommend you do some searching. While guides are very simple, inane player tools in theory, there will always be someone out there wanting to gently push their methods onto others.
Lack of up front, official documentation about %to hit and damage vs +level enemies has caused me to nearly quit this game in frustration because everyone thinks they hit +5/6s "just fine". Granted the individual is likely overstating, and lying to get that same XP they got being PLed for 20+ levels, but what of honest people that don't know the difference. What is it? -85% NET damage, and like -85% to hit at +5? Without developer provided numbers, in easy to find places, all we get is a void filled by players taking best guesses or best reverse-analysis. There are some specialists (arcana, for example), who are very good at this. It is noteworthy, however, that she advocates for defense based sets, and I swear she has it in for /regen. I understand the devs hate regen too, and all (kidding here.... or am I?....), but I would rather get raw data, THEN have someone compile that data, should they choose to. I personally would just look at the numbers given, and make my own evaluation. While things like Luck Of The Gambler being 7.5% get confirmed -by- developers or reps, it'd be better if you just caved in and published the numbers highly visible, so we could make opinionated guides/How To's based off of referenceable numbers, and descriptions. What in great googly goodness' name does does "short" mean in power recharge description?? In some cases 2 seconds, in some cases 2.5.... Lets suppose I want the shorter of 2 short recharge powers at level 5, to fit a theme? I pick one. As luck would have it I pick a few such short powers for themed animation times, and get told by an -informed- person that 3 of my 4 powers in my standard attack chain are adding 2 seconds to the full chain. Similar has actually happened to me. Animation times aren't listed, and exactly how many seconds of recharge, either. Player guides can CLAIM to have the numbers, but i'd really prefer to know the programmed/designed times. Honestly, even if they are wrong. This is when the playerbase will be right there to question the validity of the timings and ask for confirmation or reasoning, along with remedy as needed.
Player guides are great opinion pieces. Allowing us to dictate which powers are worthless/uber to neophytes is a bad idea. My opinion, of course. MoG, Flash, Unstoppable, ALL the tanker passives, /SR passives, Spectral Terror in PVE, Group Invisibility, the list goes on and on for powers that are considered great or useless, depending upon who you are asking. If the only way to get animation and recharge timing on Flash, for example(a "droppable" power that I personally always take), is to read an opinionated player guide that also informs you that it is essentially worthless due to -20% acc inherent, long recharge, and short hold duration. The accuracy and hold duration are fixable at early levels. All issues are fixable with HOs/IOs. Also my opinion of Illusion's intent is that of a multi tool kit. You don't need ALL of your tools available all the time, because you have very potent tools aplenty.
Bias is a concern to me. Since player made guides have already presented bias (Stone armor, ILLUSION, Kinetics.....), it would be best, in my opin, to give a neutral and objective pure data source for ranges , type, Area affected, damage, Animation recharge, etc. A developer produced one. Strategy guides will, and should be, biased. They are based upon one person or group's playstyle.
I realize that what we have is what we have, and the guides are largely helpful. I am advocating for change and justifying, as best I can, that the resources are there.

When has there EVER been an accurate developer based guide in this game? City of Data is continually incorrect.
If your point is to ask the dev's to create a guide then kudo's. I seriously doubt it will happen , thoughJust state your point concisely please?
For the record I posted to bump this thread. I think the poster above me has a valid point but perhaps people are missing said point because of the long windedness stuff that gives us all a headache.
I know I would love it if we actually had a numbers breakdown from the dev's that was ACTUALLY accurate. However, Cox hasn't had that for 3 years and I don't see it happening anytime in the near future. Especially when they have players more than ready to post this info for them and lighten their workload. -

As pretty much everyone knows, despite my best efforts to prevent this power from stacking from multiple users, it can still be stacked.
At some point in the future, I *will* get code support to eliminate the problem. In the meantime, if people are abusing this loophole (it's an exploit but not an "Exploit" -- GM's and petitions won't do anything about it at this time) I suggest that you blacklist their team and simply do not engage them in PvP.
For the PvE folks reading this, no, Vengeance is not meant to stack in PvE, either and the change, when it happens, will apply in those encounters as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then fix the damn RSF please. Better yet?? I DARE a dev team to go beat it using no " super dev" special powers. Let's see?? Didn't posi admit you all had yet to kill hami??
I apologize for my vehemence on this matter but this all came about because the pvp guys cried " boo hoooo!!! No fair!! That team stacked veng!!!"
You dev's continually refer to " balance" yet rarely provide a balanced scenario. As to the matter of stacking veng? Pulling off a 3 stacked veng in a pvp match would be a sight to behold. I would say to the people that were able to do it " Wow, good team coordination!" Then? I de practice my rear off to try and replicate the action. The pvp people should shutup. Vengeance? Admit pvp community .. its a case of haves and have not's. You either know how or you don't.You either practice to pull it off or you don't. It's available to everyone.
I may be in the minority because I run RSF frequently. If we didnt stack veng there wouldnt be multiple at's on our teams. Yes!!!! God forbid.... we take stalkers and dom's.If it's on your agenda Castle to nerf yet one more thing or fix yet another instance viewed as an "exploit"? I charge you to also fix the need for players to use what YOU view as a BAD bad thing.
Simple solution for veng in pvp has already been suggested for scheduled matches. Preveng in a match is definitely unfair but there are several suggestions for matches ( from what I have read in various threads) to prevent that from happening.

Doms and stalkers get invites all the time on Guardian server. Great guide and thanks for the big chuckle ;D
-
Can we stay on topic??? Wow!!! I didn't realize we 're all egomaniacs. Quit fighting guys and gals. I never thought I 'de say this about my dom's. But after playing test for 2 days in both pvp and pve I feel more disinheartened than when Ed hit. I feel more disenheartened than when they killed my fire tanker with i5 and all of those nerfs.I'm sure some of you remeber the horridness unleashed in i5. It might have been 4, I've been here tooo long to remeber.
I come here for a breathe of fresh air and expect Fish to make me feel better with a new testing tidbit.
I'm not a doom crier but I think doms are as the devs want them . Make the best of it and be happyOr cry like me!!!!!
-
Can we please all get along?
None of us that i can see are
happy with the changes 7 brought for doms.
1. Can a dom solo? Sure but a dom could solo before.
2.Is domination up faster in pvp now????? Yes.
I dont remeber who made the post about defenses and frankly I am too fatigued to scroll back.
I'm sticking with my point made a bazillion posts back.... Most of the people that are unhappy are unhappy over the pvp aspect.
I'de like to see dom's get love the same as all of you. But.... if you play COH you do not expect a defender to pwn solo or in pvp. Please dont flame me i pulled a random AT out as an example.
Perhaps the devs simply have a different vision for dom's than we do.
We are so off topic reguarding testing that it borders ludicrous. I think its hard for people that never actually played a toon to higher lvls to FINALLY be glorious to grasp.
I digress, if you want changes make suggestions and please do so politely. Personally, ide rather see more people out there doing things than in here typing away.
We all have suggestions...... maybe part of thre reason we arent taken seriously is the lack of cold numbers to send a devor whoever. Quit argueing and go make 7 facts to submit if you are dissatisfied with whats coming our way in 2-4 weeks. I am not a number cruncher but i sure as heck play often. I prefer practical experience over what most boards say.
Quit griping!!!!! Get out there and test -

Why do you feel compeled to be consistently rude, Vidszhite??
I think many of you are focusing on pvp and neglecting Pve in some respects. Domi's are a support AT y'all. Yes, a bit underpowered but I played today for about 6 hours using 3 different lvl 40 dom's. Overall, if this is what we get it's better than what we had before unless you live to pvp.
[/ QUOTE ]
The way I read it: "We're a gimped support AT, but since I played 3 of them at level 40 for 6 hours total that doesn't matter unless you factor in PvP. You should be grateful we even GOT something to begin with."
Yes, but the way I see it, if we ARE a bit underpowered, doesn't that mean the people asking for a boost have every right to say so?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure .. you can ask for a boost but you most likely arent going to get it. I think thats been proven.
Thanks Brad too for your input because you are 100% correct.
Fifteen? Many people plan a toon all the way to 50 solely for the benefits they reap upon achieving their goal. Many people were solely disgusted with Warburg and Sirens Call. Simply because its a lvl gimp for a 50.
If you want to pvp then make a toon to pvp in the zone you prefer. Don't pick a toon that blooms late.
Elemental really. I mean this isnt brain science. Fact is that dom is dom and will be dom and wont be boosted beyond for some time. Do i think a dom should have a more aggressive role in the scheme of Cov//Coh/?Heck yes!!! But that isnt what is happening to date.
Please refrain from flaming.
I'de rather read posts by people testing. Thanks -

Saddens me to read that people are going to abandon their dom's because they are unhappy with the changes.
Ironically ? Noone whohas posted that sentiment has a dom over lvl 37. Guess what?
Sometimes things take work. The dev's are on the right track. Personally, I think the changes made dom's easily more soloable. It's all in what you want guys and up to now according to you it's all DOOOOOM!.
IF YOU DONT WANT TO PLAY A DOM
THEN DON'T PLAY ONE.
Thank you to all of the people actively testing and posting in this thread. You know who you are aside from all the naysayers and doombringers.
On a testing note? Did anyone notice that dom once built but not yet activated has a longer sustainable duration?By that I mean i can build my dom to an arbitrary %, Ill say 70, and hold it there much longer than in 6. Yes it still drops a little but overall its much easier to put domination on 'hold". Easily long enough for an mm to set up or what have you. That was a complaint said again and again in these forums.
Again?Kudo's to all of you who are willing to stick it out and continue to try to find the rays of sunshine amidst the storm clouds
