  1. I'm level 26 as of now, and so far from thorn I have darts, fling thorns, impale, skewer, and thorn burst. It has made the experience easier, and more fun, moving in and out of melee. I wouldn't cross the room to hit skewer, but if I'm attacking something that's held, and ranged powers are recharging, it's easier to run in and use skewer. Is impale a good power to have from thorns? It has pretty okay damage, and the activation time is long, but not awful. I find the AoE immobilize works very well with carrion creepers. I know the creepers slow them down, but that doesn't stop them from running out of the way, which lowers the damage in the long run. Is it necessary to take all of the /thorn powers besides maybe thorntrops? (which I am taking anyway, but respeccing if I don't like it). Also, let me just say, seeds of confusion is GOD! (Also from my original post, what patron goes well with plant/thorn?)
  2. It also seems like thorntrops and carrion creepers with roots could do a lot of damage
  3. Thanks for the help. Another thing i was wondering about, are doms really not that powerful without domination on? I'm pretty new to them, so is it like okay i suck for a while then own? Also, is spirit tree a good power to use even though its immobile? And lastly, what are the more useful thorns powers for plant/? Are they the ranged ones of the melee ones?
  4. Hey everyone,
I recently rolled a plant/thorn dom just because it was one of my first villains, and decided to retry it. I was wondering what are the strengths? weaknesses? I've heard that they have lots of synergy together. By strengths i mean does it do a lot of damage? survivable?

Also, I wanted to know what the essential powers are. I would guess strangler, roots, seeds of confusion, vines, carrion creepers, and fly trap for plant. I wouldn't know about thorns though. Lastly, what patron pool goes well with it? Thanks in advance!

...and that limits your second set...i mean you wouldnt pick an elec..dev would you because the lower dmg wouldnt help you in elec cuz u couldnt drain them...so yes sucking a lil more would be nice...

    [/ QUOTE ]

You say you wouldn't pick /elec with elec/. That seems a bit odd to me. They work very very well together, especially with power sink combining with short circuit to completely drain groups of end. Also the melee attacks are very hard hitting, and do end drain as well.
  6. I have a little lvl 22 dark/sr and its SO much fun! i feel super powerful for a lowbie. I have very high ST damage, and some good AoE...I find it kind of fun setting up mobs for shadow maul. I imagine my aoe will be even better once I hit 26. I find I am almost always the last one alive in difficult situations. The only problem i've seen with SR in the past is the lack of a self heal. That's what makes dark melee perfect! (siphon life) Also I have been having a bit of end problems even with stamina, but then dark consumption fixes that. And lastly, the -to-hit works very well with SR's defense, just like you thought. I have no experience with DA or MA, so sorry, can't help you there.

    Which tanker??

    So i decided to make a ice/fire tanker...hopfully it'll work pretty well!
  8. I have an ice/ice, and an arch/mental....see the thing about arch/mental is it's like an unbelievably large amount of AoE, which don't get me wrong is awesome, but sometimes i feel like im only useful in missions with large groups....not always though.

My ice/ice is very very fun! It's quite survivable, with a massive amount of damage. (i'd recommend taking medicine though) I don't have any experience with fire/ice though. As ice/ice, you really have to play to your strengths...take all, if not most of the holds and don't be afraid to take melee attacks -- (ice sword, ice patch, freezing touch, etc.) Good luck!

    Which tanker??

So overall ice/ is very strong is what i'm getting. Seems like it would work with all of the powersets i suggested.. So what are the good patron pools? i noticed they're all pretty much the same --- immob, hold, blast, aoe...but whats the best in you all's opinion?

    Which tanker??

    Hey all....
So i have my mind set on an ice armor tanker, but i'm having issues with a secondary. This is my first actual tank, although i've played tank-like characters. I like the idea of ice b/c its ....i dont know unusual? you don't see it a lot, but it looks very strong. I made an ice/ice but the damage of /ice is very very low i've heard. I was thinking of maybe making an ice/WM. I initially thought of ice/fire but scrapped that idea. I mostly like to team, but wouldn't mind being able to solo. Thanks in advance for the help! (just want help deciding what fits better....ice/ice, ice/WM, or anything ice/*)

Not sure if you were replying to me or not (don't think I've ever mentioned Ice/Ice) but ....

I don't know if I'd recommend EM right now ... it's sort of an annoying secondary currently (long animations). If you're determined to go Ice, Ice/SS is a strong combo (EA nullifying Rage and Hasten crashes nicely). Also Ice/WM and Ice/Axe are fairly good builds. Ice/Stone is also a good one although I'm not as high on Stone lately (lack of AOEs).

    [/ QUOTE ]

How does ice/fire work? I'd assume it has fairly high damage ...much more than /ice at least..
  12. Hmmm i've only seen one ice/ice and he was saying it just cause he looked like jack frost!! i just made one ---- is there anything good about it or should i just make like ice/energy or something?
