MA/Dark vs. Dark/SR - My options?
I've always found Dark Aura to be a bit squishy, maybe because I tend to be slow on the trigger so my opinion is biased. Making it even more biased is the fact that I have a lvl 40 DM/SR. The one caveat that leaned me towards those sets was Siphon Life. I usually pick up Aid Self on my SRs and SL allowed me to have 2 extra power choices. I really can't think of anything negative to say about DM, sometimes lining up badguys for Shadow Maul can be annoying but that's about it.
Who do I have to *&^% around here to get more Targeted AoE recipes added?

Well.. I think both of those primary/secondary combo's can do both PvP and PvE =/
BUT I'd personally vote for MA/DA xP
I've had fun with mine =)
I have a little lvl 22 dark/sr and its SO much fun! i feel super powerful for a lowbie. I have very high ST damage, and some good AoE...I find it kind of fun setting up mobs for shadow maul. I imagine my aoe will be even better once I hit 26. I find I am almost always the last one alive in difficult situations. The only problem i've seen with SR in the past is the lack of a self heal. That's what makes dark melee perfect! (siphon life) Also I have been having a bit of end problems even with stamina, but then dark consumption fixes that. And lastly, the -to-hit works very well with SR's defense, just like you thought. I have no experience with DA or MA, so sorry, can't help you there.
DM/SR will be the better build late it is easy to soft cap I have one with tough weave and just a few IO's and he is softcapped
They can solo AV's easier and can do a lot more things you will need more + recharge in the dm/sr build but hey you get +20% from quickness
Pinnacle
Langar Thurs-Katana/SR 50; Hejtmane-DM/DA 50
Rogue Spear-Spines/DA 50; Hypnosis-Ill/Rad 50
Sir Thomas Theroux-DM/SR 50; Melted Copper-Fire/Shield 50
Byzantine Warrior-DB/ELA 50;Blade Tempo-50 DB/EA
Dark/SR is sounding pretty good...
I'm going to miss MA's animations though!
I'll eventually get around to leveling one up.
Thanks guys!
I'll check back here several more times so if anyone has some tips/advice for a Dark/SR feel free to shout it out! Any thoughts are always nice.
An interesting question, and a demonstration of the nice balance we have in scrapper combinations.
Dark Melee/Super Reflexes is a classic, and I believe widely considered to be a top end combination.
Martial Arts/Dark Armor was fairly recently voted the least popular scrapper combination by the forumites, if I'm remembering correctly. Thing is, we also concluded that it would be a great combination.
So DM/SR might be a safer choice due to its greater popularity, but either should work just fine.
Sounds like you've already decided though. OK, advice for DM/SR. Three slot your passives, four slot your toggles (one endurance). Not only is it good for defense, but it's also good for your defense debuff resistance and maybe buffs your scaling resistance (I don't remember). Shadow Punch, Smite, Shadow Maul and Siphon Life are all great attacks. Take Tough and Weave. Tough stacks on your scaling resistance, and Weave stacks on your defense, so both offer you a lot. And since you have Dark Consumption, you'll be able to afford the endurance. Soul Drain and Midnight Grasp are also must haves. I'd skip Touch of Fear and Confront, but lots of people swear by Touch of Fear, so if you can work it in and can afford a respec, I'd at least try it out.

MA/Dark and Dark/SR, concept wise, both work fine for my new toon! However, I want to know which one I will be better off. The "stronger" of the two, I suppose!
Dark/SR, as of now, is the one I'm leaning more towards.
The -Acc of the Dark powers working with the +Def of Super Reflexes sounds like a killer combo. The only weakness of a Reflexes Scrapper is their foe's accuracy. To me, it sounds like a great combo. OH, and Dark Melee has some sweet powers!
MA/Dark sounds like a "Disorient Heavy" combo but not sure if that entices me enough to make one.
Someone from experience can better speak on behalf of either of the combos... I'm just looking at the powers so far. Never taken these sets high enough to see 'em shine.
Also, this toon might engage in PvP but in no way will be "designed" for PvP. So if you PvP with either of these, tell me how you do, just curious!
Thanks for any help or advice you can give me!
