What does this mean in terms of a timeline? Is i16 close or still a few months off?
-
Quote:This is even better! I wish I would have thought of it. This way you don't have purple "mez" taking priority over red "low hp"Changing the color of the status bars might not work for everyone. So you can tell the relative level of a foe by what color they "con", with white=your level, Yellow=+1, etc., but for the color-blind there is the option of using the little triangles under the target's name.
Instead, I propose something different.
Remember how dead teammates have thier AT symbol in the team window replaced by a skull? Replace thier AT symbol with the "Confused" emoticon when mezzed. Like this:
Should be easy to spot in battle without having to deal with the full stack of buff/debuff icons that string across the screen. -
Quote:Epic post. All he wanted to do was let Rommie pound on him...
And you took that away from him!
Perhaps his whole family was watching behind him do great acts of Truth, and All that is Good. A rite to become a Man, by tanking Romulus in a video game.
Then, the Scrapper appeared. The Scrapper stole the glory to Manhood, and all of the family cried tears of Blazing Shame. And will still cry, for a thousand years. Because of the Scrapper.
... Unless the sacred ritual of pressing the Kick-button is commenced, which will cure everything like the beak of the golden phoenix with emerald eyes from the heavenly moors. -
Shameless bump to keep my topic from falling into oblivion.
Also, that build I posted looks rather ugly and hard to read. This is the first build I've posted and I'm not familiar enough with Mids... is there an easier way to spit that out so it's readable on these forums?
I got the link working so you can open it up yourself, but is the "data chunk" helpful to include too? -
-
Quote:I'm not saying I didn't see it coming, but only because I have absolutely no faith in humanity.Well if all he asked was to tank Rom you shoulda let him.
I, too, saw the kick coming.
ITF usually takes how long? Maybe in that amount of time, a single mention of "let me tank romy" could have been forgotten? Especially considering that our perhaps less than friendly scrapper missed the comment in the first place? Doubly so when by the second mission the team is clearly following the scrapper as though he were the leader and the "star" doesn't say a word to establish his role?
My point I keep driving is this: If you want to be the leader, then lead the team! -
Quote:Ooh ooh! *raises hand* I can answer that one!How about the third option? A banter filled team that takes its time while the scrapper is off enjoying all the slaughter/banter he can handle?
Why do so many players feel it necessary to keep their scrappers on a leash?
Scrapper envy. -
Quote:Excuse me, but who wasn't being the team player here? The scrapper that can handle his own? Or perhaps the tank with "star-syndrome"?Heres what I read:
"I ran ahead and I tanked this and then I ran ahead and I tanked that, and then I gathered these and I tanked them, and then I went on and I tanked this. Yes there were team deaths but they weren't my fault. I obviously never died. Then I saw Romi and I tanked him, then I was kicked, man was I suprised"
How about this next time?
"I am a team player. I help achieve team goals, in a way we agree on, so that we all have fun. I enjoy helping other players, rescue teammates in trouble, hate it when anyone dies. I was with a team leader that was much slower than I enjoy. But I still wanted him to have his fun, after all he did bother to put in the effort to make the team. Yes his team makeup wasnt optimal, he had no kin to help him overcome his speed deficit, but I was still happy to help him out. We achieved success by playing like a team even when everything wasnt as perfect as I liked it, and we all left the TF successfully, with a buncha merits, and I made a few new friends. "
I'd like to think the tank was the team "star-holder," very much not the team leader. I believe he gave up his leader role when he told Pine to do what he wanted. He further enforced this as he continued to allow everyone to follow Pine while he never spoke through the entire TF.
People follow aptitude and they follow people who lead. If you have "taken charge" and there are no complaints, it's likely that you are regarded as the leader by everyone in the group.
This is clearly a case of a subpar tank with an overly-bruised ego and an inability to cope with it.
The entire team suffered because of his rash decision to kick Pine. Again I ask, who wasn't being a team player? -
This is a genuinely good idea. The little bubble already changes color with the health bar, so it should be tintable purple or something else under a mez condition.
Until then your best option is to expand the icons by each teammate, cluttering your screen and watching for little hold attack symbols.
You're probably going to get a bit of flames in the form of "If you're going up against carnies, CM everybody before hand" or simply "CM everybody beforehand." I know that's not realistic as it would take a lot away from your ability to properly buff the team, but nobody likes to be mezzed and preventative CM is better than reactive CM in that you can keep offensive toggles on. -
I'm kinda in the middle here. There are a few points I'd like to bring up.
If the scrapper can handle himself and accepts responsibility for his actions, let him do his own thing.
People will follow the leader. If you have the star and you want to be a leader, act like it. If you say "Whatever, just let me tank rommie." you have given up your role as leader. People follow the one who actually leads.
I can understand why the tanker was pissed. He wanted one time to shine, and he was denied. This does not excuse him from overreacting by kicking. Standard practice is a polite tell, then a public warning, then *vote* before kick. What if the team needs him (which they apparently did)? The tank, by way of ego bruise, ruined everyone's evening. -
This is my current view of an endgame build, but I'm no guru so I've come here for tweaking. It seems like it's very close to softcap with hover running... Prot bots should give me 11% which Mid's can't show.
The important part is that I have 137% recovery full time without stamina, and 162% recovery perma as long as I'm dropping triage beacons. I don't want to drop any of my recovery. I might be willing to sacrifice detonator if I can get something awesome for it.
Goals: I'd like to be softcapped. I want to be able to steamroll most of the time. I don't need to be able to solo AV's, but it'd be nice if I can handle them. I'd also like the build to be PvP viable.
It's expensive as hell, but not unatainable. To me, it's a matter of when, not if.

It's going to depend way too much on what the demons ARE.
If they're fire based, which is likely, I'll go /thermal or /dark... maybe. I'd like to make use of /TA once...
But if they have some amazing synergy with a particular secondary, then I'm likely to make a concept for that. (AoE debuffs pair with thugs, Defense buffs pair with bots, and single target debuffs pair with ninjas.) -
Quote:Admittedly, I feel ashamed. I guess the new forums pulled a fast one on me and just looked different. I completely apologize for this oversight. You never looked properly. It's been under For Fun for ages.
EDIT: And since then a couple of suggestions HAVE been put into game, with 2 BIG ONES coming in issue 16. You OP is simply incorrect.
Although, power customization has been suggested since long before the "for fun" categorization. My opinion still stands that if it's a big/good enough idea, it won't be just in this forum. Good word travels fast, though not quite as fast as bad word... -

Attention everyone who traffics this forum regularly, especially those who actually post suggestions and ideas, but not to exclude those who reply to said discussions and ideas:
I direct your eyes to the top of the page. You will see the following:
City of Heroes Forums > English > For Fun! > Suggestions and Ideas
If you haven't noticed, Suggestions and Ideas is now in the category "For Fun."
This is no longer "for serious." Perhaps it never was. This is the devs hinting to us that they don't even look at this. All of your well thought out ideas may be heralded or flamed, intelligently discussed or trolled, but they will not be considered by the devs.
Thank you. You may now continue posting silliness in the hopes that it will make a difference.

EDIT: I am a moron. There, glad we got that out. I had not noticed the categorization myself until the move to the new forums. Maybe you have, maybe you haven't. I'm trying to make it obvious.
I am also a bit of a jerk with nothing better to do than tell you that you're ideas aren't going to be listened to. -
I just did a hami raid (my first one evar!) with a 45 MM on Sunday night and I got all 53 merits I was supposed to get.
Not intended. /petition it. -
Yes, and once we can set the difficulty to whatever we please it will be even harder for RMT'ers to make a living in CoH.
-
Don't get me wrong, I love the new forums. I'm glad we switched. I wouldn't go back for anything (even /rad and /cold for my MMs). I think the new features are great, I don't mind those wacky Britts (and other Europeans), and I'm happy that I don't get redirected to the first new post every time regardless of whether I want to or not.
I just wish they'd let my signature be longer than five lines!
I went to edit it but I couldn't save it because I was already over five lines, and thus had to leave it as is, or come up with something new.
BE WARNED! If you like your sig and it is over five lines, don't touch it! -
Quote:QFTFor every jerk that does this, there are atleast 7 normal people feeding more of <insert resource name> in to the market at reasonable prices. If you want those, leave an open bid out and be patient, then you keep your money for yourself. Don't want to feed the flippers? DON'T PAY THEIR OUTRAGEOUS PRICES! The market will fix itself once they get bored and run out of idiots to overpay. Nuff said.
I flip common salvage. I don't increase the price at all, I just find what it's normally selling for, then place hundreds of bids at one tenth the price. Eventually all the bids fill up, and I resell at the usual price.
Simply: If you have patience, you don't pay high prices. -
I'm pretty sure repair doesn't take heal sets, but I know triage beacon takes the miracle/numina unique, and I actually already have a miracle (lvl 24 really lucky random roll). Currently I have it in health because I thought I needed it in an auto power to effect me. Maybe I will take aid other instead of repair...
So far, all I notice is the fact that I recover quickly after summoning everything, but really don't seem to need it after that. Also, as I start adding sets I'll get accidental end reduction (currently don't slot ANY end reducs). I'm pretty sure at this point I can hack it without stamina or health.
Thoughts? -
/signed so hard
I like this idea, and I further compliment the OP's ability to present it. -

I would like most of these. The Team_AT is a bit... klunky? I dunno, I just don't like it.
How about:
$zone - Returns the current zone you are in.
$sgname - Returns the SG name of your target. Perhaps would be better as...
$faction - Would return faction of target i.e. Carnival of Shadows or Hellions or Supergroup name if it is a player -
I've managed to survive for quite a while without stamina in my bots/traps MM. I haven't ever really needed stamina, but there have been more than a few times where it would have been nice (Aggroing an extra boss or two). Regardless, I certainly don't feel that I need a slotted stamina, which lead me to consider dropping it if I can muster up enough +recovery from IO sets. I'd really like to free up the three powers it took to get stamina. It would give me room for taunt, detonator (Panic button), and recall friend or TP foe (fun times with trip mine).
Just to give you an idea, I run with Hover, Assault and Tactics on full time. I can summon all tiers, FFG, and equip/upgrade without bottoming out and dropping the three toggles. I have my acid mortar recharging in under 45s so I drop it every fight; seekers and proctrops are the same way. I do use repair instead of aid other because it's not interruptable, so I'm healing less often than most. I don't feel the need to be able to solo an AV. EB's pose little threat and I'm happy with that. (DXP weekend brought him up to 45, and I just picked up stamina at 44. He is now my highest level villain.)
So there's a couple questions:
Can I pull off enough +recovery from sets to replace stamina?
Does bots/traps really need added recovery anyway?
Am I doing this completely wrong and should need fully slotted stamina and +recovery? -
I know I'm only perpetuating the problem. I should just ignore it, because he's not going to listen anyway. But I'll bite.

If a level 3 gets sidekicked to 49, he's no where near as powerful as the 50 because of SO's and IO's in ADDITION to the lack of powers.
Quote:Quote:If everyone is the same, no one will have ambition, there will be no point to playing,
I believe you meant powers instead of player. Assuming that, I will attempt a response.
The point is that you are all getting the same rewards regardless of how powerful you are.
Finally, you argue that letting people PL is bad. Yet you want to force the AE auto SK system across the board. It is easy to show that AE has only HELPED PLing. You contradict yourself.

the context of what I was saying was meant to illustrate that street cleaning wasn't an effective way to try and power level anymore. Not to single you out.

Not everybody does things to power level, you know, right? Some people just like to level normally or find challenging fights.

You caught the point of I was talking about the quote in "context," right? We were talking about how powerful a higher level player would be against a lower level designed mob, and the possible rewards, at the time I wrote what was quoted.

I end my post with an obligatory QUIT YER [censored]!
Do like the rest of us: Wait to get invited, form your own team of 8 and take forever, form your own team and fly with 4 (fill as you are able), or solo. We all get annoyed with it, but we're not all about to destroy everything we love about this game so "everyone is the same." This is why communism doesn't work. A doctor shouldn't get paid the same as a garbage man. If everyone is the same, no one will have ambition, there will be no point to playing, and all the subscribers will leave. Then you will have MUCH LESS people to team with, and you will only [censored] more.
