I didn't blame the refs. The NHL playoffs are officiated differently than the regular season. It is unfortunate because the playoff games can often become a grind and it isn't as fun to watch. Playoff time gets a lot of exposure but the games aren't all that entertaining so I would prefer to see the same officiating all season long and not have a different version in the playoffs. It would result in a much better product
Not to speak on 2-head boy's account, but he wasn't referring to you. There is a laughable claim on this thread that reffing would have made a difference in 4 games with a 21-4 margin, but you didn't make it.
  2. I would probably rate that list as the 48th best top-10 ranking of comic book movies that I've ever read.

  4. Capt and Jaz, I'm glad to see some reasoned responses from the Vancouver side.

I certainly can relate to the disappointment of losing a championship after a great regular season run (see 2008 Super Bowl). You absolutely have the raw skills to win a championship and now your team has seen what being in the championship is like and that can provide a great learning opportunity for the next go-round.

Thanks for the info... now if I can just figure out what the thing with sonic cage was all about.
The Sonic Cage thing (and FF Detention Field) is that the Acc/Mez will increase the increase the accuracy and mag. Yes magnitude, not duration.

Dunno, I'm fine with deleting the entire thread if that's how it is. That's not my issue though. Nor do I feel compelled to share my issue with you.

Thanks to Zombie Man for the answer.

One last question, just a shot in the dark... are the mods, at least the generic Moderator_x ones, trained to not respond to e-mails?
  7. Championships in any sport are not won by who has the most skill. Otherwise we could have just had a fantasy draft and declared Vancouver the winner without even needing the playoffs.

No, championships are won by displaying some toughness and a desire to win. The Miami Heat were unable to win an NBA championship because they did not possess this toughness. Heck, even my New England Patriots lost their last playoff game to a "lesser" team that played tougher.

Vancouver simply does not have this characteristic. This isn't video game hockey, this is 6 men getting on the ice to defeat 6 other men that have exactly the same objective - to win the highest stakes event in their league. Part of that is to gain whatever type of advantages they can, physically, psychologically... If Vancouver thinks they can just get on the ice and "outskill" the opponents, I'll say right now they will never win a Stanley Cup (not a bold statement, I know, given their history).

Luongo needs to not care that Tim Thomas isn't "pumping his tires". I could go on with many other things that made me say "what? there's no way this team can win a championship". I was proven right.
  8. I think it's hilarious that the destruction caused in Vancouver is just disregarded as "an unruly unsupervised teen."

Hey, here in Boston, with significantly more people with significantly more to celebrate, there was no destruction whatsoever. Just people in the street having a good time. That's in no small part to a police force that has had a LOT of hands-on experience dealing with championship celebrations and they did a great job of subtley defusing sparks before they could ignite. I definitely tip my hat to them for how they kept order.

  9. Does anyone happen to know who the various moderator_x accounts report to? Is it Avatea?

I like to use the Acc/Mez HO (or 2) in Dual Pistol's Suppressive Fire, so the mez effects are enhanced regardless of ammo.

I also like to use a Dmg/Mez when 4-slotting Basilisks Gaze in a troller/dom ST hold.

Dmg/Mez is interesting in that there's not a corresponding IO to combine those 2 attributes. I think in general that's where some HOs still shine, when they enhance things IOs can't.

Par for the course, they did this the last time they were in the finals... where they lost... in game 7. So this is just what they do when they don't get their way (look in other posts in this thread for similar examples).

I have no doubt Vancouver is a lovely city with pretty parks, nice weather and easy to score pot. Sports-wise though, it's 3rd-tier. They don't even know that you're supposed to riot when you win, not lose.
  12. You should give me stuff only for the irony of giving to someone that can't log on to claim it (tech issues, so I too am just biding time on the message board before pre-paid time runs out).
  13. Some may see a pattern that the home team has the advantage. I see a pattern that the Bruins take the "MUST WIN" games (to avoid 3-0, 3-1 and getting closed out) and Vancouver takes the less urgent games. Can't get more urgent than game 7...

This bug happened outside of Khan too, on Train missions. One time I was on a team with mixed alignment where the rogue was targetable to everyone else and vice versa. We tried to see if we could go for some pvp drops, but no rep was awarded.

Are you referring to the Canuck fan at the 1:10 mark who says "the city here has been fantastic, the people have been hospitality plus..."?
  17. Good job at demonstrating humor. It's just sports, good-natured ribbing is part of the deal. Maybe if you had more than the one team or even had any experience winning with the one you have you'd realize that.

  18. Those Boston meanies!

I hope you, Mary-Kate and Ashley enjoy your summer. Try not to flop on your way out of the arena.

I don't get the joke about TD meaning "Toronto Dominion". I've seen US companies in Canada so not sure what the big deal is.
  19. Oh HAIL no to the OP. Go Bs!

Thomas is god, he has his goalie T9 perma now it seems.

As for Vancouver, pulling for them means you pull for cannibals. Fact.

What's you favorite /Cold controller and why?
For purposes of establishing some bonafides, I've played every control set to 50 either on a Dom or Troller and also every Buff/Debuff set across the 4 ATs with those powers. I'm not pointing that out to say "look at all my 50s" but just to establish hands-on experience.

My favorite controller, regardless of secondary, happens to be a /Cold, Earth/Cold to be specific.

    "Why?" you ask...

Is it the awesome farming, like a fire/kin or plant/storm offers? No. I haven't earned any incarnates post alpha for this character, but I'm sure aquiring those would help in that regard. He can farm, it's safe enough, it's just not fast.

Is it the AV/GM solo big-game hunting like ill/rad, ill/cold or even some fire/rads can do? No, though again incarnate pets should actually make this achievable.

What it does offer though, is exceptional crowd control such that I find I've always got an aoe control available in reserve, just in case. 3 of these 4 aoe controls can be placed around corners (as can Quicksand). Then you've got aoe debuffs, including the great Freezing Rain. With Quicksand and/or Snow Storm, there simply are no runners to chase down (except War Wolves). The cherry on top is Stoney, who's quite tough before you add shields or hp, and he generates a good amount of threat to get and hold aggro.

Though damage from the primary is on the low side among the control sets, it's "good enough" with Stoney and epics.

So, bottom line, I haven't seen a group encounter yet where this character wasn't making substantial contributions.

Edit to add - With respect to Frostworks, it's a good power, but in Cold, is perhaps the first one to go when evaluating what to skip to pick something else you think is more valuable. To make the most of Frostworks, you would need a good awareness of your teammates to know who the best targets are. The Stalker? No. The Brute? Oh yes. It gets more complicated with Tanks and Scrappers because utility of FW can vary across powersets within an AT.
  21. I'm going to be "that guy" and point out that "Vogue" and "Can't Touch This" came out in 1990.
  22. If I were making a pixie I'd use a bald head, expand the waistline and make him a sonic/sonic (to be LOUD) and name him Black Francis (or Frank Black).

*This is for the 2 fans of the 80s band "The Pixies" out there in these forums (and I'm 1 of those fans).
  23. What I don't see factored in are the buff/debuffs from the buff/debuff set. Yes, there are some notable cases where the values are the same for pseudo-pets (Sleet, Tar Patch, FR), but when a defender debuffs resists, it's 33% higher.

Now, I'm sure that even considering that debuff would not get the defender's damage to equal the corr's with scourge. What I also don't doubt is that the defender debuffs will cause team (or league) damage to increase more than the corresponding corruptor. This is the scrapper forum so I'll put it in your terms, that Headsplitter will probably more than make up the difference of a corruptor's individual damage after Enervating Field and Shriek are used (50% vs 37.5% -res). Yes, I know there's additional factors such as purple patch, etc to consider, but bottom line, churning out attack chain numbers doesn't begin to tell the story of effectiveness of the buff/debuff classes. Yes it's sufficient enough for scrappers, that's all they bring is their attack chain, not so for Corr/Def or even MM/Troller comparisons.

    Sonic/Energy IOs

It's possible to build up impressive amounts of s/l/e and/or range defense on a Sonic. While doing so, you'll build up sufficient recovery bonuses. While you're right that high recharge isn't going to transform a sonic/ def, it does help to a degree so throw in LOTGs when you can.
