I would certainly be interested in a team that does all the SF's. Whether I could find the time to be a regular member... well, I could hope

Vade ad formicam, o piger!
[/ QUOTE ]
Proverbs 26:14 or at least, a similar sentiment sensu lato -
[ QUOTE ]
Given that the proverb is of american origin, not roman, is it wisdom to translate it into a dead language?
[/ QUOTE ]
The wisdom of the act of translating it does not reduce the wisdom of the phrase, so in the end it is still wise. After all, Si tacuisses, philosophus mansisses -

[ QUOTE ]
Si fractum non sit, noli id reficere!

Quoted for wisdom with added showing off.

If there were a T-Shirt or hoodie that was subtly CoH/V then I would be very interested. Something along the lines of the arkham asylum inmate t-shirts I have seen about.
Saying that it would have to be utterly fantastic to make me actually get one rather than just say; they look cool. -

COX would grow from a small 20.000 players to around the 5 mill players.
[/ QUOTE ]
also, the 20.000 is just an estimation per server, nothing actual.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am confused now; does this mean that each server will have 5 million people on it? -
I shall also add my farewell, it is sad to see you go and I am sure we can all agree in wishing you the best in your next position, wherever that may be.

If you need references, I'm sure we could provide some...

Be careful, some posters references are very, very obscure -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh yes. We must do everyting we can to prevent the evil of power levelling. I don't even see why anyone cares, it's a big brother mentality that I just can't cope with, especially considering I was raised in a socialistic hell where the politicians thought they knew better than everyone else. If people wanna PL let'em, go ahead and mind your own business and play the game the way you want to. Sorry, I don't mean to poke anyone with a pointy stick. But the "stop people from PL" makes me tired.
[/ QUOTE ]
My one issue with PL'ing is one which stems from my impression of other games (and as such may be totally inaccurate).
In some other games it is suggested that the game starts at the level cap. This would lead me to the idea that someone from one of these other games could come in, get powerlevelled to the level cap, discover that the game doesn't start at 50 and leave with a bad impression of CoX which is then spread amongst friends and guildmates.
That is my issue with PL'ing. Saying that I don't really understand it, personally. PL'ing seems to be a way of NOT playing your character... surely if you don't want to play a character you ...em...just don't. But then I am sure I am missing something there.
Anyway, despite this long reply it is a different debate from the one the OP started. As for that debate; I, personally haven't ever found the current SK system to be a problem and, as such, feel a change as suggested would be very low on my own personal priority list. -

Lesee... did I forget anyone? Oh, yes: Seed. It was kind of a euro-comic Metal Hurlant without the sex and gore. It wasn't my thing.

And if it had had the sex and gore...? -

The thing about WAR that attracts me is the playing as a group in the whole RvR setting which I haven't experienced so there is a chance I may still get into it.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is exactly what attracted me to WAR in the first place. RvR seemed to have a point, which is something I haven't found in PvP in any other game. I am sure that if CoX gets base raids sorted out properly I would try and join a SG that is involved and give them a go, hopefully even enjoy them as the idea of them appeals.
[ QUOTE ]
However, I can always see myself playing CoX because of the community (im a member of a couple of brilliant SGs) and that each of my characters is completely different to somebody elses.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would also have to agree. I haven't found a more friendly community that is willing to help out with random missions or even just with advice. erhaps if Ihad experienced this in some of these other games Imay have played them longer... -
City of heroes was my first MMO. At the time that it started I thought the idea of continually paying for a game was a rubbish idea... then I tried it (well, to be honest I tried the costume creator) and was hooked.
Recently I have tried a few other MMOs and almost always come away dissapointed.
I tried WoW and found myself lost completely; the game apparently started at the level cap and that was so far away and there was noone seemingly interested in helping a newcomer to the game (and I don't mean with a PL).
LOTRO was fun, but only while I was with a few friends happily playing together in a group. Without them I was dissilusioned with the fact that groups tended to appear for one particular mission (in which everyone charged off with the presumption that you knew what was expected) and then once the task was completed, the group just dissolved.
I considered Age of Conan, but fortunately waited to see how launch went and was totally put off by what I heard about it, I considered EVE but am given to understand that you need to dedicate significant periods of time to do anything. Most recently I considered WAR but, after getting quite excited about it, the mess GOA made of open beta launch meant that I had little enthusiasm for it by the time I finally had a go and it failed to grip me.
Also in none of them I felt unique. If I am a barbarian hero I look and dress like every other barbarian hero (perhaps with a slightly different face and differently coloured hair). If I am a female elf I dress in exactly the same way as every other female elf (and have the same vital statistics too) and further, I seem to have the same story as everyone else.
CoX lets me play for a tiny period of time and get a reward for it. It lets me play solo and achieve something. It lets me join groups where people chat, have fun and help each other when necessary. It lets me improve my character or not as I choose. And wherever I look I can find new character stories or looks to catch my interest. I recently encountered a Spanish SG who were all 'classic' villains. The good old fashioned stereotypes of villains. I was DELIGHTED!
I have looked at CO and DCUO but they have yet to show me anything that makes me think I would have more fun there.
Has it just been the fact that this was my first MMO which has shaped my perceptions of what I expect from a MMO that has made me fail to enjoy these others? But saying that, surely CoX can't be THAT different from everything that I have looked at, can it? Or is there something that I have missed, some other game that I might get further enjoyment from? Or is it the case that CoX is just the game for me and I should give up looking? -

Are we able to use this? I would love it if we were! -

[ QUOTE ]
Yes, because your friends list is going to tip the ratings of several thousand players...
[/ QUOTE ]
You really think that several thousand players are gonna play every mission?
I think I would like a 'random' button to take me to a mission that has either not been rated or has very few ratings. No idea how many people would use it, but it might increase the chance of every mission being played at least once! -
I daresay most people will almost exclusively use the 'quick pick' meathod of getting a mission. This could lead to people mostly picking those missions which manage to achieve 5 stars. Those missions with 5 stars will get played more possibly to the detriment of those missions which have not yet been rated. Unless someone is specifically looking to play a new, unrated missions, I suspect that the rule of the lazy could come into effect.
Yes, this is all speculation and conjecture but it is all building up to the time when I can say 'this is my excuse for not having a 5 star rated misison'(I seriously doubt even my best attempt at a mission would get 5 stars)
-
I shouldn't read these things, it makes me want to play about with it and I am an impatient bunny!
My one concern still remains that it will be possible (perhaps even likely) that you could create a mission/arc and noone would ever play it unless you specifically badgered them into it. t that point it could become impossible for some players to ever unlock anything (as I can't honestly see the devs taking the time to play through EVERY mission created) -
Wow, Jay is shorter in real life than I expected...

So I'm fronting the battle cry on behalf of this game.

But look what happened at Culloden. The battle cry and huge impressive charge was far too early and look who won... -
What a fabulous idea! I am certainly going to go watch that if I possibly can! Will be great to see what all those creative minds come up with out there.

So after the huuuuuuuge thread already discussing the same thing you had to infect this one with it Lionsbane?
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
[/ QUOTE ]
You know what, Gil? this isnt aimed at you but I'm tired of people calling doom whenever I state warning. I am not saying the gameis doomed. I am saying, if they dont get theyre finger out they are gonna get flattened by the DCU express train.
Now the flip side to that is that if they DO get their finger out they will be fine.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well thank goodnes they have you to tell them that because otherwise our game would be dead by now, I am sure.
You have stated your point previously and it is, indeed a valid one. However, if you really thin tha they need to be repeatedly told that something new is coming out so they had beter do something special to counter it... well.
Even then, I don't particularly believe they need to do anything that special, just cary on with what they have planned. The snippets released to us have been exciting enough to keep me more interested in the future development of this game than I am about the others. -
My dear, when are you ever serious?

Well, it's all I have to go on - and I know you're Scottish, so I tend to think "Braveheart" - or Groundskeeper Willie

Ahh, if you were ever to meet me you would be sorely dissapointed in that case. Not all Scots are haggis-eating caber-tossing Nessie-hugging Weedgies. Sorry to disabuse you of this notion.

I LOVE this idea. Anything that promotes detective work is a good idea as far as I am concerned.
