Now try this....enable Prints and see what happens! (I want a set! )

    [/ QUOTE ]

As soon as it's legal. I don't want to jeopardize my chances of working for DC by selling prints before I even work with them. But once I'm in the door, I'll be all over it.
  2. Looks like I need to update my 3D TA model in case I do more art of him. The tutu... the hearts on the boots... the cuteness...!

You might need a personal assistant man lol

    [/ QUOTE ]

Zoinks! You're right! I'm thinking 18-21, blonde, fit... let the interviews begin!

Having a hard time keeping up with the messages? lol

    [/ QUOTE ]

Haha, yeah. Over 1,000 messages so far.

This has really juiced me up to do more. I finished my Hawkman and Emma Frost models today and have had requests for Wonder Woman and Black Canary. I'm thinking I found me a niche.
  5. The whole 'Daily Deviation' thing is really paying off. Zatanna has had almost 7,000 hits today alone, and almost 9,000 since Sunday when I posted it.

I actually got to talk to him through DA too. Really nice guy. Total fanboi moment. I feel like i should squeee or something....

    Yeah...Total geek heaven...

    [/ QUOTE ]

While you're chatting to him, send him a link to my DC works and tell him we need to talk... ;p

    [/ QUOTE ]

hahahaha whats in it for me?

    [/ QUOTE ]

To know you're part of history? To help a bother out? Um... free art? Depends on the results, I suppose...

If he wrote me and was like "Doug, your friend TA sent us your way and we wanna hire you," then yeah, I'd throw you some artz =)

  8. Holy Moses! Over 100 messages in just the last 45 minutes! And 1,200 hits since earlier this morning. I guess I'm still a DA noob at heart - I had no idea there could be this much traffic.

    It's humbling.

*EDIT* - Oh, hey! They added a little 'Daily Deviation' tag on the piece. I hope that's like a badge and I can keep it past today.

    greats on daily deviation

    [/ QUOTE ]

Woah! I logged on this morning and have over 400 messages on DA! You mention a 'daily deviation' - did the piece end up on a front page somewhere?

    Heromorph

Careful about checking Heromorph from work. It's a fairly NSFW site.

I've stalked your stuff on deviant for a long time Doug but just had to finally comment on something you've done.
    It's fantastic.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thank you. About the comment, that is... not the stalking.

I also wanted to minimize attention on her legs by reducing the amount of detail in that part of the image, thus pushing the focus to her body/face.

    [/ QUOTE ]

LOL, I should have called it "Eyes Up Here!"

It didn't work.....I still stared at her legs.

  13. I went with the hose because my Black Canary has Fishnets and I wanted to show a different treatment. I also wanted to minimize attention on her legs by reducing the amount of detail in that part of the image, thus pushing the focus to her body/face.

But if DC wants the piece, I'll add fishnets in a heartbeat =)

...I mean clean in the sense of orderly and perfect, with no little flaws and bumps like you get from more hand-drawn stuff.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Interestingly, I think Zatanna is one of the more 'clean' characters in the DC universe. She always seems to have things under control, with perfect hair and a classy composure.

But I see what you mean.
  16. I've been working on this one for almost 2 weeks. Sometimes, you just gotta call a piece done and step away or 'd end up tweaking it for another week. It's mostly Poser, but I completely repainted the face because Poser faces are so lifeless.

Yeah Yeah... it's not COH. But it's a superhero, so hopefully that counts =)

Oh, and I've started on some Marvel pieces, so I'll be bouncing back and forth more.

I got nominated?!? I gotta get over there and vote for myself... I mean... uh, cool!

    Invincibelle.com

I still need to do an Invincibelle piece, someday.

    Someday...
  19. The Legos are always such fun and fresh versions of characters! They make me wanna build RL Lego versions of my characters.
  20. I refer to avoid computer-rendered hair. I have yet to find a program that can render it quickly, fluidly, and organically. I render my models bald and paint it on with Photoshop. The downside is that poorly painted hair can destroy a piece and it takes practice.

If you can get good hair from Max, I'd love to see it... and see your techniques!

Here's a cool tutorial I found on DA; TUTORIAL

    And another; TUTORIAL

Looks good! I'm looking forward to the day when I can get one of these, then get someone to run it through a 3D printer so I can get mah statue!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Haha, I've been working towards the same goal! I'd love to have access to a 3D printer so I could make my own statues for my shelf.

And FrozenDeath - good work on the modelling.

It was Metacreations for a while... then Curious Labs, then E Frontier. Now it seems to be held by a new group; MySmithMicro

  24. [ QUOTE ]
About how much does something like Poser cost and would it be decent to use as a program for myself to make references for gravity-defying poses? Is there a good cheap alternative? I want a program with very basic models that move realistically enough but can be put in the unpossible superhero sort of posing situations.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Poser is usually pretty cheap... in the low hundreds, I believe. DAZ also offers a stripped down version that might even be free called 'DAZ Studio'. It's definitely Poser-Lite, but it'll give you a chance to see if you like what you see.

*EDIT* - Yep, looks like DAZ Studio is currently free. ---> LINK

Hmm looks good. But did you make said image from scratch?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Define 'from scratch'? I didn't create the model of the girl, but I posed her, rendered her, and photoshopped the piece for weeks. I created the texture on outfit from scratch, and digitally painted the vine and her hair. I modelled the leaves in MAYA, the wall in Vue Infinite, and photoshopped the Arkham letter in there.

I'm planning to put a tutorial on my site that'll show all the steps.
