Quote:No - EVERY map is stored on your computer. Every zone, every instance, every mission map, it's all there. Granted, XYZ coordinates in one city do NOT equal the same thing in another, so if you stand in one place in one zone and record, and just copy the XYZ coordinates into a DIFFERENT city, you may find yourself underground, 20 feet in the air, in the middle of nothingness...And I shall consider this as close to gospel as it gets. A note on the clientside storage if I may? Does that mean that I every map I've ever been on is already stored on my computer?
Demofiles, however, can be delightfully customizable. Some dufus in-shot that you want to remove? Edit him out. People don't understand the "TURN OFF YOUR BUFFS, MORONS!" request? Delete the buff FX. Recording at night but you want it to be daytime? Change the time code.
And if you ever thought that Cimerora would look better with the zombie apocalypse sky? You're right...

I've not personally tested it, although the range is fairly impressive from what I can tell. Even a 10-second demorecord in someplace like IP can capture quite a bit.

A quick bump to keep this visible - please preview the OP and let me know if there's additional info that I'm missing or a name that should be included.

A Trial story arc called "It's What We Do."
Minimum league size: 12, but much better with 48.
Arc contact: The City Hall representative.
The Villains: They look a lot like the MIB types from Crey.- Mission 1: The Heroes' Tale. Placed around Atlas Park are several NPCs to talk to, each of them holding a torch. Each relays a story of how they are trying to protect Paragon City from a catastrophic threat. As they tell it, however, ambushes arrive, trying to stop them.
- Mission 2: Fundraiser. Instead of your usual 'defeat X' mission, utilizing the 'earn favor with the crowd' tech from Time Gladiator, the PCs 'street sweep' (of sorts) to 'raise influence' for the Heroes. Defeating purse snatchers = 10 inf. Putting out fires = 50 inf. Stopping car vandals = 25 inf. Taking on a GM = a lot. And so forth. Taking a page from the Numina TF, these must be done across a minimum of four zones.
- Mission 3: Endorsements! Time to rope some of the big names in... except now they're all missing! Positron, War Witch, Dr. Aeon, Protean, Viridian, Synapse, Dark Watcher, and Manticore have been kidnapped to keep from lending their support to the Heroes. They've been banished as far from Paragon City and the Rogue Isles as you can get... so it's off to the Shadow Shard to retrieve them.
- Mission 4: Public Awareness. The PCs want to get the word out about the Heroes' story, but 'forces are at work' to suppress the news. A mission a la the TPN trial to rescue reporters, broadcast it on TV and the internet, etc.
- Mission 5: Fight the Power. The Powers That Be are really not happy about the Heroes' efforts - and they are going to shut things down whether anyone likes it or not. The instanced Atlas Park map. Generators must be kept running, heroes need to keep City Hall protected, stop statues from being destroyed, etc. You get a 'public favor' bonus for each reporter you saved in the previous mission, as they join you here... but you'd better keep them alive!
(Reward temp power given: 3 random heroes are summoned, a la Phantom Army)

Quote:I'm not giving 5 years off my life for the game. I said I'd give 5 years off my life for true artistic talent.Ok whoah, whoah.... just stop. Whatever it is, nothing related to NCSoft, Paragon Studios, and City of Heroes is worth dying 5 years sooner.
It's ok to be sad but come on...
For the GAME, I'd... well, I wouldn't kill anyone, but I'd happily throw some all-too-deserving schnook down a flight of stairs.

Quote:Whereas the other day I logged in to film the sunrise. Took a bit of doing to find a good place but I managed to score a beautiful sequence in Peregrine Island.Last night, for only the second time ever, I watched a sunset.
(in-game; I've seen the real sun go down a few more times than that)

Quote:*sighs*That's it in a nutshell, basically. I get to the character select screen and start crying. It's ridiculous. I'm 42. Even reading the forums breaks my heart.
Best computer game ever made.

I know exactly how you feel. I logged in earlier to get some filming done, swung the camera around so I was facing Tava to set up a shot... and just sat there looking at her and feeling my heart breaking all over again.
Right now I think I'd cheerfully give five years off my life to have syrusbliz's talent for art so I could draw or doodle all the little scenes I want to capture in ways that I just can't do in a demofile.

I'd give a great deal to be the fly on the wall during that dinner, just to hear the conversations...
*looks down at herself*
On the other hand, being rather Rubenesque, I'd probably be more like the bull in the china shop...

How can I increase the 'density' of heroes placed in a crowd? I'm doing a shot similar to the Paragon one, but the heroes are spaced a bit farther apart than I'd like.
EDIT: I think I have an idea... gonna test the theory.
EDIT: Nope, theory did not work.
EDIT: Never mind, found it!

I swear, if we manage to save this game, I will head to Mountain View, take over Arbiter Fabulous' kitchen (or someone else who lives in the area), and make at least a dozen trays of my "Speed Boost in a tray" brownies. Alcohol flavorings I have used to good effect include creme de menthe, Kahlua, Chambord, cherry brandy, and Frangelico.

(Of course, if she'd been wearing her spandex outfit, you could just as easily say that he's behind her for the view...)

Does this mean that we can finally squelch, once and for all, Black Pebble's grousing that nobody ever buys him food?

Quote:I know someone else has posted an alternate download link, but I just woke up so I'm not sure offhand where it is.Unfortunately, they've removed the download for the game (from my understanding) and I know someone with a VIP account who hadn't played for a few months who can't log in because it won't update.
Naturally, I have not read through the entire thread, yet, so I apologize if this is repetitious or has already been disproven.

I don't know... a Kickstarter for these might not be a bad idea. But then I'd need to figure out how much it'd cost to get all the gear needed for location shoots, plus permits for the locations, etc etc etc...

These are the scripts for the ads I always wanted to make for TV, or to show in movie theatres before the previews start, etc. If I had the equipment and the money, I'd have done it in a heartbeat - they're fairly low budget as far as 'sets' or whatever goes, but I wanted to shoot good quality footage (rather than just busting out a smartphone with a video camera or whatever).
Quote:THE COUPLE
[scene - a shot of an interior garage door leading from the house to the garage. A woman approaches it, tries it, finds it locked.]
Wife: Honey?!
[from off camera comes loud pounding sounds with a hammer and general noisemaking]
Wife (raising her voice): Come on, you promised you'd help with the chores!
[noises continue]
Wife: There's so much to do! You said you'd help me put up the shelves in the bedroom-
[noises continue]
Wife: And the lawn still has to be mowed!
[noises continue]
Wife: And we still need to go food shopping before my mother gets here tomorrow!
[noises now include a power drill or something louder]
[the wife slumps in dejection]
Wife: Fine...
[she turns away, and as she does so...]
Wife (in a lower volume): So much for getting the Statesman Task Force done tonight.
[wife turns and walks out of shot]
[beat as the noise abruptly stops]
[another beat]
[then the garage door practically FLIES open as the husband lunges through it and nearly trips on the doorjamb chasing his wife]
[cut to logo]Quote:ALTAHOLICS ANONYMOUS
[scene - empty classroom/conference room place, with chairs all in a circle, table with punch and cookies, big whiteboard, motivational posters, etc. At least a dozen people sit in the circle.]
[one stands]
John: Um, hi... my name is John, and... I'm an altaholic.
[everyone nods and murmurs sympathetically]
John: I didn't mean for it to happen! It's just... I try and focus, I really do, and then... then... it just... they come out with something new and I have to try it!
[people nod and look understanding]
RC as Moderator: We know, and we're proud that you've taken the step to join us. We all know what you've been going through.
Jeremy: Oh, man, remember when they made Shields available?
DeAnna: Or Pain Domination?
Rob: Dual Blades.
[EVERYONE groans and nods]
RC: So we understand. And we'll help you away from the idea that 'more is better'...
[shots of people looking sympathetic]
RC (voiceover): Little by little, you'll find yourself focusing more on the characters that truly have meaning for you.
[behind them, the door FLIES open, practically banging off its hinges]
Alisa (practically gasping): HOLY CRAP! GOING ROGUE is gonna have Demon Summoning and Dual Pistols!
[beat as everyone in the room looks at each other]
[then mass chaos as everyone leaps to their feet and dashes out the door... except John]
John: *single sob* I knew it...
[John slowly shuffles out]
[cut to logo]Quote:I'M A...
[scene - empty white space, featuring closeups of various people from all walks of life]
John: I'm a Dominator.
RC: Blaster.
Chris: Stalker.
DeAnna: Defender.
Rob: Corruptor.
Me: Controller.
Jeremy: Tank.
Someone else: Brute.
Alisa: Peacebringer.
Someone else: Warshade.
Someone else: Crab Spider.
Someone else: Fortunata.
Someone else: Scrapper.
Young kid: Mastermind!
[cut to everyone in front of the white screen in a line on either side of the kid, looking at him/her]
Kid: What?
[cut to logo]
[back to the line]
Alisa: Whose kid is that?
[someone else sheepishly raises their hand]
Jeremy: Oh, big shock there.
[back to the logo]
Kid (voiceover): Mommy, I want a Lich...
Woman's voice: Not until you're 26, dear.
Quote:CONVERSATION
[scene - the food court of a mall. A group of women are sitting around talking - you only ever see them from about the collarbone up.]
Woman #1: He did it AGAIN! He PROMISED me he wouldn't!
Woman #2: You're surprised?
Woman #3: I'm not...
Woman #1: He ditched me... to do Katie Hannon?
Woman #4: Hey, when everyone else does her... it's hard not to wanna join in.
Woman #2: Oh, that's nothing... my husband's given up on Fitness entirely.
[all gasp]
Woman #3: NO!
Woman #4: Doesn't he worry about his health?
Woman #2: Oh, he says health is important, but he thinks stamina is waaay overrated.
Woman #1: How does he expect to last?
Woman #2: Seems he expects me to wait while he rests...
Woman #4: God, that's rude.
Woman #3: And now my husband has caught the 'faster is better' fever... everything is speed, speed, speed. No more taking it slow.
Woman #2: But you can miss so much that way!
Woman #3: Yeah, well, he says that when you've done it all before, no reason to take your time.
Woman #1: But then it's just a grind!
Woman #3: That's what I told him.
Woman #4: And I just found out last night... my husband announced that he expects me to get new-
[makes the quotes sign in the air]
Woman #4: "enhancements."
Woman #2: Again?! Didn't you just go through all that like a month ago?
Woman #4: He says they're not as good as they used to be.
Woman #3: But you spent a fortune!
Woman #1: Although the new ones are actually kinda impressive...
Woman #2: Wait, you mean you already...
Woman #1: Yeah... don't tell him, he'll have a fit.
[at this point, a guy walks over to their table]
Man: Don't you women have anything better to do than talk about sex?
[they all look at him like he's insane]
Woman #2: Who's talking about sex?
[the shot moves back to show all of the women are wearing CITY OF HEROES t-shirts]
[they all point to their chests]
Woman #4: See these? Real women, right here, buddy.
[he looks like he's praying for the floor to open up beneath him]
[cut to logo]
Woman #3 (voiceover): Typical guy... they just never understand what we're talking about.

I actually auditioned for that one!
But I didn't care if it was me or someone else, I was so looking forward to that. It would've been RIOTOUSLY funny!
DAMNIT.
Can we at least get a script?
Quote:The Script for "The Most Interesting Man in Praetoria"
He has beaten his teams to Shadow Shard doors...using Walk.
He made the family an offer they couldnt refuse.
He translates Ricochet . . . into Swahili.
Nosferatu runs to him, not from him.
The Rikti invaded.... just to see him in person.
Nemesis is one of *his* plots.
He doesnt Taunt, instead he asks villains to discuss their issues rationally. They always do.
He is...The Most Interesting Man in Praetoria.
"I don't always play MMOs...but when I do, I play City of Heroes."
"Stay super, my friends."

Quote:Actually, at the start of the most recent TwitchTV Coffee Talk, Zwillinger did in fact get very choked up and was nearly in tears as he talked about how the community is mobilizing to save the game. You know, if I were a dev. right now, no matter what happens to the game I would be very choked up with the amount of effort that thousands of players have made to preserve Paragon Studios and its employees. It is simply amazing that so many people have banded together in such a fashion and I'm glad to be a part of such a great online community.
