But enough about me..
I kid, I kid.
Great job, D_R... I have to admit to being surprised to actually see City Of Oz on your planning list... I thought that was just an inside joke between you and I... oh... and a quick question about your planning list (since I have this little list-obsession-thing)... The PUG video... is that one based off that PUG play I wrote a while back? Or is it a script from a different source?
Once again, fantastic job!
Quote:Excellent work, Michelle. I may end up converting back to a gold name for a month now just to see some of that stuff.
I was REALLY impressed with the music. If that guy sells CD's then you probably sold one for him once I get the time to look at his website.

Ahhh, I was wondering how long it would take before someone would start taking potshots at me via the video's comments. Probably the same person who disliked it, too. Kinda like finding that first ding on your new car - now I can relax.

Coincidence?

Quote:I don't think they can actually do that. I could be wrong.Great job with the video. Paragon Studios ought to give you at least a complementary VIP membership for your efforts considering how much "advertising work" you're doing for them.

Um, Hit Streak - you need to fix the Google+ link in your signature. It goes http://https://plus... (yes, I'm an editor when I'm not making videos.)

It's also not the first time Psyche has died, either. During the Brawler/Protean comic arc, she dies while mindriding Manticore to figure out who attacked him (he goes into cardiac arrest while she's still in his head and they both die).
The doctors try to revive them, no luck - they're both dead, prepare to tag 'n bag, when in floats Numina...
And voila, a few pages later, the dynamic duo are back.
*****
That being said, I wonder if it's more related to the state of one's spirit, rather than one's body... sure, Posi nuked, but his soul was presumably still intact. Same for everyone else that died and was revived.
*****
If that's the case, then the writers should have set up something in WWD6 that her soul is being ripped to shreds, forced from her into the bodies of EVERYONE in Paragon (now THAT would have been an epic level spell), and being impossible to recoalesce, there isn't enough left of Psyche to bring back.
Otherwise, nope, she's now just "an ex psychic."
As much as I loathe "handwaving," I suspect that's what's going on here. Unless we find out in WWD7 that Wade deliberately set up some sort of spell to prevent her being brought back (or something to that effect), then it's just a matter of "she's dead and can't be brought back because we say so, so there."
*grimaces*

Quote:If Beastyle were still here, I'd ask him to put my video on the Facebook page (he's done it in the past with my teasers for Issue 21, even WITHOUT me asking!). But now that he's gone, I don't know who to ask. I'd PM Zwill, but I think he's kinda sick of me at this point.Brilliant as always, D_R. Watched it several times, and I love it. Your videos usually get me more hyped for an issue than I thought I could be.
Every time you release a video like this, I get a little bit more fed up with Paragon for not paying you. You deserve it, and who knows how much of an impact this could make on the main page, as an announcement, or on their facebook page?
Fingers crossed for you for the future.
But yeah, getting this on the launcher? That'd be sweet - even having a redname comment in here would at least get me in the digest, but I tend to be off the "redname radar" these days. Oh, well.
Quote:Awesome as always!
...though I wonder if your opening might be better suited for i23. I get the distinct feeling that when Statesman is removed, the shake-up might make the salute appropriate there as well.
I just wanted to bring home the immediate impact of WWD and the Valentine's Day return of Red Widow.

And thank you again to everyone for the kind words and the compliments - you guys are what keep me making these things.

Quote:At first, when I was beginning to make videos, shooting from behind was the only way I knew how. Then I forced myself to learn how to play with the camera at different angles - front, 3/4, profile, moving, etc. And it just opened up film possibilities for me. I can't do it for extended lengths - eventually I need to know what's in front of me - but shooting from near floor level looking up as two characters slug it out is FAR more appealing then just filming from the back.{several repeated viewings later of the HD .wmv file downloaded from Samuraiko Productions}
Wow.
I mean, I know I was there for some of the filming and all ... but it's interesting to see what things looked like from the camerawoman's perspective rather than from my own. I'm so used to seeing the backside of my characters that it's sometimes a bit of a shock to be able to see them (let alone see them fighting!) from other angles ... and what they look like "when next to" other people in group shots like this.
Since I was in the filming, it was a lot of fun to try and "look for my characters" in the various shots. The one thing I was worried about was the possibility of being a "camera hog" and standing out too much. I'm glad to see that *didn't* happen because of the way that Michelle cut the scenes together.
Last time, for the Issue 21 Trailer, Redlynne got a "walk on" role courtesy of a demorecord file that turned out really nice. This time ... for the Issue 22 Trailer (in order of appearance) ... my characters Ms Terry, Redlynne and Leggs all got a little bit of screen time (and not too much, thankfully!), and I'm really proud to have been allowed to be a part of this really sweet production!
And yes, Michelle, I still think that Black Pebble "owes you lunch" for all the work you do for this game.
(I've told people before, the best place to learn is in either a low level zone or in the AE. Get the hang of running around without fear of being attacked, and practice, practice, practice.)
And BP will never buy me lunch - my luck, at the Pummit, he *MIGHT* offer to buy me a Mai Tai... which I despise drinking.

Quote:Don't the female Tsoo look AWESOME?!Damn, the trailer is so well done.
Best of all, its sells the I22 prety well, because after I see the trailer cant wait to play I22! Makes me want it NAO!
EPIC!
Congrats D_R!
Btw, who is that Tsoo woman at 2:18 sporting Tsoo tattoo shoulders on the female body and a new corset?
Me want!
That particular one, you get to slug it out with in one of the new mid-level arcs.
Deal.
Quote:The first few scenes focusing on Statesman's death made me really want a SSA trailer/overview. It hit me harder than I expected. Still kinda teary.

Quote:*grins*The one inside the midnighter club. Didn't recognize that one. The Tsoo fight one I recognize as the tech naginata or whatever it's called in-game.
That's a custom weapon, regrettably... but wait til you find out who's wielding it!
EDIT: And ironically enough, that segment was NOT meant to tease Staff Fighting.

Quote:Staves show up in two places - the first has a guy wielding one inside the Midnighter Club, the other has a guy wielding one against one of the female Tsoo. Which staff did you mean?Awesome video, nice work as always.
Quick question though. What was that staff used when showcasing Staff Fighting near the end? It's not one of the default models, so wondering if you just somehow demo edited that in or if it's a badge reward or something.

Quote:Awesome job, DR!
I always run your vids a few times in a row.
for initial impact
for rhythm and music (also part of editing)
for images and editing
As always, I think you've hit this one outta the park.
Quote:Another great trailer!
Just watched it, thought it captured the mood quite well, and I do like that you've included the Who Will Die stuff in there as well...I know there'll be no official memorial service just yet, but maybe you'd consider doing one for us, the player's benefit? And by that, I mean asking us to attend and just setting it to appropriate music, etc.
S.
Quote:Alice falling down the rabbit hole made me giggle for the rest of the trailer. I enjoyed that scene in-game, but the rabbit-hole aspect never struck me until this trailer.
Quote:Nicely done as usual.
Loved the falling down the hole bit, chased by tentacles!
... i've been in enough hentai to know where that is going!
Quote:Is it Tuesday yet?! Excellent job, as always, Michelle. I always look forward to these.

Quote:Awesome, as usual.
(Insert obligatory and oft-repeated "Paragon need to outsource their trailers to DR" commentary here as you feel appropriate.)
Really? Thanks!
Simply appreciated.
I just make videos, I do not control the calendar.
Quote:Really awesome job Michelle. *gives two thumbs up and huggles*
Quote:Bravo, D_R!
I can tell you put a little bit of your soul into that one. It was like watching a new flagship launch.
(Note to self: Do not enter Dark Astoria if already feeling depressed...)
Quote:Another great job! I love how you compose these... the Phalanx saluting the departed Statesman vs. the Arachnos elite saluting the returned Red Widow. Brilliant bit of juxtaposition there.

CITY OF HEROES: FREEDOM - Death Incarnate (YouTube Version)
High res version, as always, is available on my website's Videos page.

So I'm a couple days early - it's gratifying to know that even with all the technical issues I ran into, the last-minute errors I found, and so forth, this thing still got done on time, and I gotta say... I think it's one of the best ones I've done yet.
Here it is on YouTube (the link goes to the HD version - I'd suggest watching it in the larger player if you can).
And of course, you can always download it from the Videos page of my website. (If you want to share that version, though, please direct people to the page, not to the specific link to the video.)
Major shoutouts to:- The players on the Beta Testers channel for helping me film powersets, trials, missions, and all the good stuff you see in here, plus suggestions of neat things I might otherwise have missed.
- Composer Thomas Vo, who created "In Ruins" specifically for this video. (It says a lot that another project he was working on at the same time as mine... was for NASA.) If you are looking for a professional composer, I'd advise you to visit his website at http://www.thomasvomusic.com - hint, hint, Paragon!
- Beastyle, TheNet, Arbiter Warrant, and Alpha Wolf for redname help, level bumps, and answers to occasional weirdo questions.
- All the players at the November Plummit who saw the announcement about Issue 22, and who promptly came right over to me and said, "You ARE filming a trailer for this... right?"
I hope you guys enjoy this... as exhausting as it was to make this one (even with the new hell-fast computer and groovy new software), I'm proud of it.
One down, forty-nine to go...

EDIT: And the OFFICIAL video is also out now! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akUj6caicWM I like it! Good music, good pacing, some very nice shots, though I think the whole "now that he's gone" thing would be better for I23... -
I am probably the only person who is grateful for said delay, because it allows me to keep refining and improving my trailer for the issue.
Said trailer, with luck, will be done by EOD Friday. I think. Maybe. But now that Beastyle's gone, I don't know who to send it to at Paragon...
