If ever there was a good example of the saying "damned with faint praise," I think that was it...

Sorry, Psy, those jokes have already been done.

Oh, my character Andrea Blake so has to memorize that list. She's the resident blurt-it-out-and-the-hell-with-the-consequences co-leader of the Star Patrol with a dim view on Longbow to begin with, and she's due for a conflict with Ms. Liberty and Longbow in Book 2 of THE COURSE OF SUPERHERO ROMANCE.
Thanks, H_B! *hugs*

Damn, that's too bad. I'd encourage you to follow up with your interviewers - hopefully they'll be able to give you some more info on what to work on to improve your chances!

4) Of all the zones in the Rogue Isles that Longbow could have established in a base in, what the hell possessed them to choose NERVA?! Grandville, I could see... Cap, I could see... but NERVA?!
[/ QUOTE ]
Nerva Archipeligo technically isn't part of the sovereign Etoiles. They're disputed territory and "overseen" by the UN right now. So Longbow has a leg to stand on when they set up shop there, as opposed to secret bases and submarine pens around the Rogue Isles-proper.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ahhhhhhhhh. Okay, that I can sort of buy.
Of course, it doesn't exactly help my opinion of Longbow that they're skulking around Mercy and got Agincourt over in Nerva when they've proven incapable of protecting the Paragon City Hall parking lot. (Unless those are the Longbow that REALLY screwed up elsewhere and that's Ms. Liberty's ideal of lavatory-detail for Longbow.)
*goes back to surfing the Swiss Colony website for a gift basket to send to Sean*

Nope, sorry, only one videographer is allowed on hiatus at a time, and I called that one back in I-14 closed beta. You'll just have to carry the banner for me.

I had specifically asked him who at NCsoft I would need to contact to pitch them publishing TCoSR as the third CoH novel. The relevant part of his PM'd response was (this is paraphrased per vaguely-remembered forum policy about not quoting PMs from rednames):
"third novel's half written but we're not looking at publishing new novels"
I did PM him back asking if there was a way for me to get the license to publish it myself (rather than having THEM do it), no response on THAT yet. Somehow, though, I'm not holding my breath on him saying "yes" to that, either.
*sighs*

That's it, Sean, you are getting a gift basket all your own, even if I have to WALK to Austin to deliver it.
1) Does Arachnos exist in Praetorian Earth?
2) Are we ever going to learn more about Red Widow?
3) Can Positron actually have children now?
4) Of all the zones in the Rogue Isles that Longbow could have established in a base in, what the hell possessed them to choose NERVA?! Grandville, I could see... Cap, I could see... but NERVA?!
I have so many more that I could take a whole thread on my own, but instead, I'll ask you now if you'll be at HeroCon, and if I can steal you away for one hour for just you, me, a laptop, and a non-stop one-on-one Q&A session.

Damn! Well, you got farther than I ever did, so good on you!
And do try again (hopefully before next year)... did they at least tell you what you can do to improve your chances?

Yep - in my story THE COURSE OF SUPERHERO ROMANCE, Sorina Tavarisch goes on assignment to Portal Corporation, doing that mission. When she comes back, she confesses her fears to Raymond Keyes (aka Positron) about that being a world where she actually DID finally gain true powers - and lost control both over her power and her sanity.
Since then, the two have not yet really talked about what happened to her there, but Sorina's due for another Portal Corp assignment... and she's afraid.

I wish I knew who wrote that one - I'd love to know more about that world (among other reasons, because I reference that mission in a story of mine).

Well, if you do, I am SO not responsible for you getting no sleep. "Unexpected Results I: A Slight Glitch" is a relatively fast read, but "The Sword of the Soul" is LONG. Good, but long.

I totally forgot about that performance.Damn it, I almost wish I didn't already have Synapse's video partly done.

For BABs, if he started fighting crime in the late 70s/early 80s, that means he spent his childhood growing up in the age of soul funk and motown. Which means he was definitely listening to some Temptations as he was cracking skulls. And I think Ball of Confusion was plenty relevant during his heyday.

*grins*
This is totally showing my age, I know, but the moment I read your post, I remembered watching "Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever" on TV. I might have to go back and see if I can track that down, give it a listen, and see what strikes for BAB.
Michelle

You'll need time - they're both LONG. As in full length novels.

One of which, by the way, is told ENTIRELY in dialogue.

And the true purpose of the Web in Grandville becomes known...
It's SPDR-mobile! 5 bars? Hell, we BLANKET the world in signals, day and night, broadcasting 24/7...
Oh, you mean you want to be able to control who you call and what you say? Sorry, that's not available in your area, please try again.

I think of the MA as the answer to "I've played all the dev's content, what's left?" (Incidentally, I personally haven't come anywhere NEAR playing through all the dev's content, but I know that people have.)
And as many others have said, it's a chance to flex creative muscles, to tell the stories that they wish were actually part of the game. The Powers That Be simply don't have enough people to write missions for ALL the backstory stuff they reference in the game, so giving the players a chance to do their take on it was a nifty idea. Help the Regulators put the fear of BAB in the drug cartels? Create an arc. See how Astoria fell to darkness? Create an arc. The possibilities are numerous (I'd say endless, but not quite.)
Sure, it could use some finetuning, and with luck, one day we'll get the level of control over it that some of us would really enjoy. In the meantime, though it might take some work, there are several diamonds amongst the rough.

PS - for those who are looking for actual 'story' arcs, yes, She Who Makes Vidz did two - "Dyne of the Times" and "Hell Hath No Fury". The third is strictly for fun... search for Samuraiko and you'll find it. -

Well, I did the TF one and a half times (couldn't make myself finish the first time with the team I was on, went back with a new team and actually completed it).
I saw enough in the TF to tempt me into doing a teaser for I-15... I'll have to try my hand at the SF to see if redside does the same.

The one of Lady Grey shaking her fist at the sky is... I wanna say Serpent Drummer's arc, where Nemesis crashes the diplomatic conference and you go to help her stomp Nemesis into the floor.
