I'll prob delete it in a few days, i never had an archery toon, so just wanted to try it out. I am surprised that that name was available tho.
And no, he doesn't look like Hawk-Eye, nor, if i keep him, will be close to his bio. I just wish we had like a sniper rifle powerset, i'd deff keep the name for that. -
I literally just made a new corruptor, Archery/Trick Arrow named Eagle-Eye.
-
I got that Forbin, and that is something i did pick up with that ordeal.
-
Quote:So wait, if my toon is blonde, that would change everything? He's Staff Fighting/Energy Aura, which are the de-factor power sets for Gambit. The only alternative would be "Energy Weapon Throwing", which doesn't exist. If he also shares the hair, and the nickname? Yeah. We know what you were doing. This isn't even a Captain Erzats or a Proxy; you made Gambit.
*Change hair blonde*
So when my Raging Cajun toon was a red haired dual pistol/energy blaster it was ok? -
Quote:Why is it hypocrite?Nope. This whole thread is based off hypocrisy. Do not defend yourself with "B-But it'll be the first time onii-san punishes meeeee!"
Because i named a toon Raging Cajun, has red hair and a staff, it MUST be Gambit? It could not possibly be that Cajun referrers to the Cajun population in Texas and Louisiana? Trying to look like i have a French background?
This is what my Raging Cajun looks like:
Red/orange Barbaric hair, Face 1. Black Baron Jacket w/ dark goldish Magic print, dark grey shirt 2, no gloves, office belt. Dark grey Khakis, black w/ dark goldish baron print. Staff Wood w/ wrap. Now, set that up in your tailor, and tell me how much i look like Gambit. reason i have picked Energy as secondary, because most my melee toons have WP or regen, and i wanted to try something else. But you know what, if you think i look like gambit and made it so that it is Gambit, report me, they were saying they'd do that when the whole discussion started in AP with SnakeEyez, but i still have my Raging Cajun. So either they didn't report me, or CS didn't see enough ground to Gen the toon.
Anyways, like i said, if they Gen the toon, it would be my 1st Gen toon, and that is fine, at least i'm not being a repeat offender making toons who look exactly like, named as and include a bio like the character it is based off, and that is the difference. -
Also, if, and that is a big IF, a GM decides to Generic me, it'll be my 1st Gen'd toon in 3 years. That is much different than being new to the game and having 2 gen'd toon in a span of 3 or 4 days.
-
Quote:Raging Cajun doesn't even look like Gambit, well.. except for the red/orange hair. Not like i named it, made it look like, used the same powers and included the original's character in my bio. Not even the power color is like Gambit.I don't like posting here, ever, but one of my scouts led me here. If you're so upset about people making pre-existing characters in CoH, Dark Energon, then why did you make a Mutation stalker named "Ragin' Cajun" with staff fighting/energy aura? You even used Gambit's nickname. He's not even straddling the line between homage and imitation.

My opinion about what i just saw.
Nice touch for the Costume Contest winner. I remember him, he looked pretty decent in the contest. So props to him.
About the missions itself:
1st Movie, the Casino Heist seem a little confusing. This might be because i haven't played it yet, but the pop up power to help out your team mate with the phone call should get more attention drawn to it so people can use it. Also the class picking should be something that could be explained prior to picking the class.
Also.. WHIPS! I was looking at the guy with the Whip, looking for demons or his AT, couldn't see if he was a Demon MM, but yeah.. Whip Powerset anyone?
2nd Movie, the Gladiator battles.. nice touch with the crowd interaction, maybe an idea to add an animation like a show off to it to justify the crowd going wild?
Overall, i'm looking forward to doing these in person. Seems like they really did their best in making something very new, and it worked.
Great job guys. -
X Caliber, Dual Pistol/Energy Blaster.
Body of Darkness, Dark/Dark Dom.
Time of Death, Time/Beam Defender
Polly Ution, Radiation Troller. -
Zwill did say there was going to be a live aspect to this at a later date.
However, yeah, after the 1st few days, this invasion seems to get the ignore treatment. What a shame. -
Zwill said it best, give these guys some leeway, they are not set up like we are when we play.
I enjoyed the Trial preview, and i'll check the summer event out too.
Indeed, this is some great advertisement for the game. -

Nice to see people on both sides on the fence regarding this issue.
Let me clear a few things.
I do not want people perma banned for 3 Gen'd toons in a short amount of time, maybe i should have used the term suspension.
I also understand that there is a difference between ripp-off toons and homage toons, and i do not know how the Generic process works, but there has to be a difference between them regarding punishments.
Rip-off toons know they will eventually get generic'd, while homage toons have much less chance of this happening.
That said, i have reported a few toons for violations, mostly because they look, are named, have the bio, and have the powers. I don't report people for just a name, and the amount i reported is countable on one hand. The thing is, when i reported a Simpsons rip-off toon that had all these things, even weeks after i reported him he was still in game, this just made me wonder how much CS really cares.
I do not know if accounts are being flagged atm for a violation, and if so, how flags are being seen and such.
I do would like to comment about a reply:
Someone mentioned Probation after being Gen'd, and i like that idea. -
Is it just me, or are more people getting sick and tired of these people that have no imagination when creating a toon?
last week.. Wednesday was my 1st day in game that week, i made a new staff fighting toon, swept the street to get a quick level. I go to Miss Lib, and who do i see? a toon names SnakeEyez, dressed as Snake-Eyes, dual Blade power set and even a bio stating he was from a top secret military unit.
All i said was: "Pleased to meet you mister soon to be known as Generic 847 924 6722, because if someone reports you, that will be your new name." He went off on me that i should leave him alone, because i had his toon Gen'd a few days prior. A whole discussion about copyright infringement started with people giving their two cents.
10 minutes later, a toon named Generic ### ### #### starts yelling at me that i should get lost because i got his toon Gen'd, his second in a few days. Again, a whole altercation followed, and he said he was going to report me for harassment. Only thing i said: : "Good luck."
Now, obviously if he has two toons that got Gen'd in a few days, this player has no imagination. His reaction, albeit a little, just a little, understanding, was directed at the wrong person. I never reported him prior, or even after the incident, all i did was laugh.
Would it be a smart policy to not only protect the game, but also the players from these type of people that could potentially hurt the game, but also drive people away because of the repeat offender's attitude because he get's angry about the fact his toons get Gen'd.
One way i see is a simple ban for a period after your 3rd Generic in a set amount of time.
Now i hear people say: "hey, i have been playing 7 years, and i had 3 toons Gen'd in that period, i should not get banned!" And i agree.
But i do not agree with the fact that people get to oust their frustrations after a 2nd Gen'd toon in less than 1 week, and this has to stop.
People should get banned for being a repeat offender in a short amount of time. These people will add nothing new to the table, and will only cause harm to the game in the long run, and the player base.
As i stated, i got his full wrath, because he thought i got two of his toons Gen'd. If he went off on a newer player, that new player might just quit the game in order to not deal with these types of people, where as i merely laughed in his face because i knew i did nothing wrong.
Anyone who has any suggestions or feedback regarding this? -
Thnx Sentry for the link and info.
I love PvP, and i'd prob join if it wasn't on a diff server.
Anyways, i hope you guys have fun!
And again, we should revive the PvPReps!
PvP is still done on a few servers, some are more PvP heavy than others, but PvP is PvP, and like me, some do not want to transfer their toons to a diff server, even if it is just for an event.. -
I understand that part, it has been said a few times.. what not been stated... What Server this is on.
-
I understand about making things more fair for everyone, not complaining about that part. It's not the deal breaker for me, the server transfer is the real deal breaker. However, i rather, not demand, have my own team, esp if we are going for prizes that are this big.
-
What server is this on?
And i rather bring my own 3 man team.
So i guess it won't be on Guardian, Test or Beta, meaning a server transfer, this combined with the team aspect.. count me out.
Nice idea tho, i hope you guys have fun, and good luck!
We should get new PvPReps, host these types of events on each server, and have the server winners battle it out on Test/Beta.
I'll even volunteer to be a PvP Rep for my home server. -
Quote:I do not see this as a complaint, i see this as constructive feedback, and i like this idea..Its actually rather suprising at the rate of complaints from people about free items in so many different forms though.
Nearly all of it stinks of a "i want better quality free for my own purpose" whereas very little could be taken as constructive feedback.
For example i myself would have 3 items up for "sale" each Friday, however you can only claim one as being free. This at least gives the players that sense of choice or diversity that seems to be the theme amongst them.
If it was possible, then for this week you could have a choice of the following three
- Windfall
- XP Booster
- Prestige Booster
Then another week can have it as [again as an example]
- Warwolf Charge
- Holy Shotgun Charge
- That baseball bat power!
That would be my constructive feedback to a system like this anyway
however, looking at certain people, they'll still complain:
Not enough choices, 3 items i do not want, too much choice, 3 items i want, why can't i get all 3... and the list goes on.
Regarding the random generator issue that someone brought up, that one will get a team insp and the next will get the black wolf pet. That could be bypassed in a simple manner, select randomization by class. Just like, say, the random bronze/silver/gold roll to get salvage with Reward Merits. Yes, people could still get something a little more valuable, but it won't be like getting a Dual Insp while you friend will get a Purple recipe. -
Devs: We will test out a new system we want to implement.. Freebie Friday, you get something for free every week.
Playerbase 1: YAY!
Playerbase 2: Free? How much will that cost us?
Devs: This week it's an XP booster
Playerbase 1: Test worked, looking forward to next week!
Playerbase 2: WTF? I do not need this, why this, what's wrong with you? I wanted (fill in the blanks)!
I'm in the 1st group, i do not care what group you belong too.
Hit Streak said it best, so did Black Pebble: You do not have to 'buy' it if you do not like it.
They understand that they can not please everyone all the time, even with a fully free item, people will find a way to complain. -
Best part was when spider-man got bullied out of his lunch money, while in the lunch line, by Maria Hill... Fury saw it, and could barely control his laughter.

Quote:T9 are the repeatable rewards.. T9VIP is the VIP rewards, and again, atm, it is discriminating between VIPs.And, I ask again, why should T9, out of all the tiers, be exempt from the reward tree structure? Why, out of all the levels, should that one allow people to cherry-pick their rewards from the tree?
But this is just my opinion.
The incentive for all people, no matter where they are on their Reward Tree progress, is Incarnate content and several other things. People who do not have the full Tree filled have more to lose when dropping to Premium than people who have all slots filled. -
Quote:What do people do now when they have filled all T9VIP slots?Okay. So, why should Paragon break their reward system to allow VIP players to cherry-pick high tier rewards in that one case? Why does tier nine get the exception, when all other tiers on the tree don't? I don't understand why you feel that tier nine is different in principle to all the other tiers.
Assuming that the costume rewards were opened to all VIPs, what do you feel would be a suitable replacement for tier nine for VIPs? Because if you remove the current tier nine VIP, that means people who have topped out their reward progress get nothing but the repeatable rewards, all of which can be picked up at the store. Or do you feel that it's entirely unnecessary to have any kind of special reward incentive for VIP subscribers who have topped out the tree?
At least if you are able to pick them while not having the Reward Tree filled, you can start filling your reward tree.
People who have the Reward Tree filled will still have the same problem with their tokens in my suggested revamp, as they have now.. what to do with all those left over tokens?
