    Fixed.

Currently listening to Ghost in the Shell O.S.T. 2 by Yoko Kanno

    [/ QUOTE ]

Still turning up as thumbnails for me. Even with cache-clearing and suchlike.

    Yoko Kanno is awesome.
  2. - The official forums used to have a "star" system not just for threads, but also for users.

    - The winner of the first anniversary Heroes Choice Awards for Player With Best Board Avatar, Pilcrow, was told to change that avatar due to its depiction of Jesus Christ edited onto a tapdancing scene.
  3. There's an Arachnos mission relatively early on, where the mission intro text box says something about alarms "blair"-ing.

And yes, the Merc "Saftey" thing also bugs me to no end. (Not to mention that they use far too many exclamation marks than can be considered healthy.)

I can't belive States responded to a post called "For the kitties, nyo!".

    [/ QUOTE ]

When I checked the dev digest, this was the first thing I thought of.

    Nyaa~

(If you think Dejiko's cute, wait till you see Puchiko.)

EDIT: This is not the title edit you are looking for.

I do not think such a thing is possible..

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hm. Transparent background, maybe? Not sure if that's possible.

DevCon, a Red Rook encircled twice. DevCon built the Arenas, and their logo was then used by the Gamester during the Winter 05 event. They currently have an office or complex in Cap au Diable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thank you. Yes, that's the one I mean.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
The ingame construction company, CAGE, uses the Cryptic Sutdios logo, which is a factory, not a castle. Still works, kind of, though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not that one. It was around during construction of either the Arenas or the Universities, I forget.

It's the same one used by the Gamester, which caused a fair bit of speculation on the forums.
  8. Personally I'd suggest the rook symbol used for whatever the construction company in-game is called (I remember it was some injoke or reference to Cryptic), and also used for the Gamester Winter event this year.

EDIT: That, or Gormenghast, seeing as there's at least one reference to it in an NPC civilian line in-game.
  9. *desperately tries to remember if he's met Decimator, Destroyer and Destructor in a mission*

Please, if you disagree with someone - state your opinion and leave it at that. No need to bash people for their thoughts/ideas. Some people want X - others don't. Agree to disagree. Thanks.

It always surprises me that whenever Cuppa (or some other redname mod) posts something like this, not one page later, the flaming and insulting starts up again.

    Always.

I refuse to have my faith in the innate decency of human nature shattered, but it is sometimes so very, very trying.

Never felt that this was the case, as Manticore actually does seem to be a "Follow the Rules" kind of guy, most of the time. He only breaks the rules only when his deep personal convictions get in the way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oddly, I never got that impression. From his info (which is, admittedly, ambiguous), I thought that he was the loner who does things His Way. The comics portrayals certainly don't help.

    Comic #10

    [ QUOTE ]
Y'know, the one where the impulsive, doesn't-follow-the-rules member of the superhero team is publicly kicked out by the straight-arrow leader. The fallen hero ends up associating with a villain organization and even joining it in an apparent attempt at betrayal. Then, at some climactic moment, his true allegiance is revealed and we find that the whole scenario was a ruse to have the hero infitrate the villain's operation to to thwart the evildoer's plan.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was actually guessing that this is it.

Then again, I could just be thinking about the Waid run, issue 2. Not identical, but has the same feel of "Manticore's gone bad!"

Of course, I've been wrong before.
  13. Nothing so weighty as an actual historical quote, but a couple of quotes I've seen in-game:

"What is the average airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?"
"Well, that depends on how many Flight SOs it has slotted."

"Why are these D&D geeks trying to prevent my righteous villain from confiscating a dangerous magical book?"
"Because you're the darkness, and they're attacking you."

The Santa hat didn't disappear, did it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, but I don't think new characters made after the event can access the Santa hats.

    Same for the togas. Probably.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Yep. Before a new issue hits, it's all doom and complaints. After a new issue hits, it's all doom and complaints. Welcome to the doom and complaints. See ya when it's doom and complaint time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not really the Doom And Complaints that gets me.

It's the condescension. It's the anger. It's the sense that I Am Right And You Are Wrong. It's the inability to see another person's point of view. It's the posts that insult and flame and troll and belittle other people, the nastiness that results when discussion turns to attacking.

It's the sort of thing that makes me wonder why I'm on this forum. It's the sort of thing that makes me wonder why I'm playing this game, why I'm playing any game that has me interacting with other people who can act like this towards their fellow players. It's the sort of thing that makes me wonder if I should just give up and cancel.

I keep hearing that it's worse in other MMOG forums, and CoH/V has it good. But with attacks like these, it's not good enough.
  16. Right then, looks like it's time for me to take a break from the forums again.

    and NO NERFS!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I really doubt nerfs would be included in the press release.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Notice it says SOME information, not all, or most, but some.

Before we (players that are almost exclusively coh players ) get up in arms about not much added to coh, we should wait for the rest of the information to be released.

    [/ QUOTE ]

For one thing, the defense changes (which Statesman said would be coming in I7) aren't listed. (Nor should they be for something like this, I think.) Until someone pointed it out to me, I completely forgot about it.

Also, New Costume Options are mentioned. Not sure if they mean the CoV costumes for those who play both CoV and CoH, or brand new ones regardless.

I wonder how much Dark Armor will change for Stalkers. My guess is that will replace Cloak of Darkness, though I hope they have Immobilization resistance in on of the shields still. I hope they keep Dark Regeneration. I might as well stop playing my MA/Ninjitsu one and wait to see if I want to reroll her.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was wondering the same thing. On the one hand, CoD and Hide stacking stealth would be a bit overpowered, at least at first glance.

On the other hand, there are some other powers that would also make sense if dropped (Death Shroud, for example). And there's obviously the Immob protection issue as well. (Unless they say "bugger this" and take out CoD anyway, and tell players to get Combat Jumping if they want Immob protect.)

    Issue 3.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was Issue 2, 100% sure.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm going to have to go with I2 as well. I joined during I2 (the last few weeks of it, at least), and I remember thinking on my first character that this game was so awesome because they had an actual hero (albeit NPC) in Outbreak giving me missions.

Of course, memory can play funny tricks.

    Your Opinion

I get some odd looks when I tell people that I'm playing a MMOG.

This is mainly due to the whole subscription thing, paying money every month in addition to the initial game cost. I can't really reason that away with "but it's saving me money on games I don't need to buy for entertainment", since I don't buy a lot of games anyway. (Also, these people tend to be the sort who don't really see the point in paying for games, when they could pirate them for free.)

In the end, I usually just tell them that I enjoy it, and it's my money and I'll spend it how I like. This has the unfortunate effect of making them attempt to convince me every single time the subject comes up that I'm wasting my money, and here's how to get some real games, entirely free, don't worry about legality...

My friends are great people, but with some holes in their morals, I think.

Ohmtown. He was a great assistant.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ohmtown was awesome.

I also assumed that the Jenkins thread was based on the Jenkins in the tutorial (and beyond). It surprised me that not only did Jenkins not get "severely reprimanded" for his screwup in the Zig Breakout, he actually got promoted.

Arachnos is a very strange organization.

    10) "High" - Lighthouse Family

    Thank you, Creative Zen Xtra.
  24. When I did the "break villains out of the Zig" mission on my Mastermind (after doing it on my Brute a long time ago), I realized that Jenkins was apparently a Wolf Spider Huntsman.

Has he always been a Huntsman? I don't really remember this the first time round, largely because Jenkins was, well, Jenkins, and he rushed in and aggroed and died within two minutes.

I was wondering how the heck Jenkins made Huntsman, and then he Web Grenaded the prison doors and proved that some things never change.
  25. See what happens when you nerf mez resistance?

I am curious about something, though: who's the guy who sent all those zombies and laid the trap in the first place?
