This. Seriously. Nothing takes the joy out of tanking than a team that doesn't know how to let the tank lead and herd. Why the **** do I have to type "herding to here" 50 times in a mission?

Tanks by no means are needed for a team to do well, but if you happen to have one let them do their jobs and by the 10th herd the team should know its a herding tank and what their style is and don't mess it up.

    <3 Elkie

So a friend sends me a tell laughing at me being in a farm he just did. Had to go see myself. I have seen myself in a few close friends/Sg members AE missions, but I think this one flattered me the most.

While I am flattered Elkie, turn down the boob slider and its CriticalKat, fantasize about me spelled correctly please.

Not funny, but so very funny all at once.

I am picturing one of our Sg fake nem hunts in PI. Team engages against some lvl 50's and I set a level 15 mish and get some epic lulz. *evil grin*
  4. I love when my SG members slide all their junk salvage to me during hami raids. So kind of them. :-)

We meet in Oroboros. Order will be random. Difficulty will be invincible, no temp powers.

Yes, but that is a good thing.
    • It offers a range of challenges for those of us seeking it.
    • Will make it where the only people that are getting pl'd pretty much are the people that already have multiple toons to pl themselves and are forced to actually play the game to pl.
    • Hopefully that will help the purple market as well. Perhaps those farming for the sake of just farming will go back to regular PI maps now that they can do so there just as easy.

  9. I see so many great things in that post personally. The whole lvl 1's getting in to RWZ and other hazard zones is full of win. Also the 20% to xp for the lower levels is boiling over in awesomesauce.

While I don't powerlevel and find the broadcasting etc annoying as hell, the idea of everything being limited to +1 level of xp doesnt sound great to me. Well I guess on invincible you could get +4 levels of xp sidekicked. That is dependent on the team being able to handle invincible though. Call me greedy but I like occassionally getting +2 or 3 levels of xp when teaming.

I think I am ok with sacrificing that occassional boost in xp for the broadcast spams and irritating tells to end. Plus everyone in the SG being able to team together regardless of level sounds great. Its a pain in the *** as a team leader to make sure you have proper levels of sk/exemplar when building teams.

Auto heal I can agree with 100%. However call me insensitive but I don't have lag issues at all, so why should or would I think to turn off my other toggles while shopping? SJ, SS, stealth and acro are always on. If I am playing something with shields, they will be on.

I do turn off things like hotfeet, not because of lag but because running through a zone with an aoe or pbaoe power on is just retarded.

A few weeks ago someone rudely messaged me and "told" me to turn off my frackin super speed that I was lagging them out. I kindly turned on every toggle I had and told them to rudely go /wrists for not having a decent computer and connection. Normally my reaction if asked nicely would have been much more helpful.

TLDR version....realize that a HUGE percentage of people that play this game are playing on highend pc's with awesome connections and are not intentionally trying to lag anyone out.

I've heard that this person excepted that happenstance when they created the character.
I've heard that this person doesn't hold it against others who expect a Master Mind to have pets.

Now, I may have heard wrong, but all that seems perfectly reasonable to me. People get to make characters as they see fit. If someone wants to create a non-standard character, then there's nothing wrong with that. However, they should understand that others may not wish to participate in their experiment. They should not expect others to follow or understand their vision.

See? Everyone is a little right and a little wrong, as usual. Play how you want, and don't expect others to lay the same way. Applicable in both directions simultaneously.
    This.

When playing my pvp emp with no rez I kindly mention as much when people ask me to play it. If they are cool with it, then so am I. If not, Oohh well, NEXT!

Having the right to build toons the way you want is cool. Realize the teams you might join should also have the right to not have to play with you when you are not able to do the functions that they were expecting based on your AT.

Feel like you shouldn't have been asked to switch, or get kicked, or have cynical comments beating you over the head, then let team leaders know before joining teams about your quirky special builds. A few seconds of courtesy can stop all kinds of issues in their tracks.

**On a side note a rad fender with no debuffs being looked at as a rad blaster...not so much. Defender damage is no where near what a blaster can offer. The concept of it I can understand, though personally I wouldn't build it. Such a build does however deserve a courtesy to the team leader to be mentioned in advance IMHO.

Since that kind of relates to the argum--err, discussion...I know where Myrmydon is coming from...when I invite a character of a particular powerset, I have a few powers in mind that I expect them to have. If they get to the zone and I notice that they don't, I usually check their Veteran badges. If it's a new player, I try to politely suggest the "good" powers and tell them why; if it's a long-time veteran, I assume that they had a reason to not take those powers.
    [/quote]

Yeah, while I totally understand BA's point I must partially agree with expecting certain builds to have certain powers. A rad, I would expect to have all 3 of their rad debuffs and to have A.M.. An emp I would expect to have all or atleast most of the empath powers. A kin I would expect to have SB and fulcrum(omg don't get me started on all the farm builds).

While I don't agree that a player should be berated for not meeting those expectations, to be quite honest after I have invited that person to my team/tf and they don't have the main contributing powers to their sets that I was looking for, I am annoyed. If they are a new player, I might send them a private tell and suggest it would help their teams a whole lot if they got the powers. If they are a vet I will probably be on my vent server grumbling about it.

Lets be honest, when we invite a tank to our teams we are expecting them to be able to perform their duties and have the powers necessary to do so. Same thing with a blaster, rad, kin, emp etc. A blaster with all pool powers and only a couple of attacks isn't blasting a whole lot of anything and putting out the damage the team needs them to. Rads with no toggles are not debuffing which is the main purpose of that build. You get the point.

Attacking people. Bad idea. Perhaps if a player has an excentric build because they have a concept going on or want to play their toons differently should perhaps let team leaders know before joining teams and atleast give them the option to find someone else who can provide what the team needs. I have had many people notify me when I am putting a team together that they don't have the heal other powers on empathy because they solo alot, or they don't have sb because its a farm build or they don't have their buffs on a therm because they solo all the time, etc. 99% of the time I will still invite them to my team, and be very appreciative of them letting me know.

In all fairness though, sometimes a team is in need of something specific to help them succeed. Sometimes when you put a team together those random people volunteering in BMT happen to be all the right stuff to make a balanced team. Other times when there is only a spot or 2 left on the team certain things are needed to make sure we succeed.

Annoying "AE farm vs. 'Regular Missions'" people.

I was on my new stalker yesterday and asked for an AE team in broadcast. I run papers to get the mayhems for Invader accolade then run AE farms in-between until I get to levels where my attack chain is filled out enough to easily do Arcs. (only my MMs don't need to wait on fuller attack chains)

So in broadcast Pwnunoobs told me that I need to stop asking for AE and get out and "experience the game". Apparently doing virtual missions as opposed to "real" missions wasn't teaching me the game well enough.

Because obviously there is such a huge difference between clicking on the AE console and then doing a mission vs. clicking on a virtual contact and then doing a mission......

Doing all regular missions is fine and doing all AE is fine.

Pretending like you aren't learning the game because you do some AE is ridiculous.

I have played with people that almost never do AE and it didn't make them suck any less or have any better of an understanding of powers.

Some people don't learn how to be retarded, they were just born that way.

Epilogue: Right after Pwnunoobs told me I needed to leave the AE building and "experience the game" I saw him zone into the very same building on his SoA and proceeded to join the AE team I was on before seeing me on it and then suddenly quitting.

    LOLZ@ Hypocrites

I think a lot of people come in and do a lot of AE because they are new to the game, it is easy to navigate and may have been the selling point for them getting the game in the first place.

New players always take a while to get up to speed and that isn't necessarily the fault of AE.

I'm pretty sure there have been major SG leaders on this server that had an understanding of powers like I have an understanding of Martian dialects and that was long before AE.

It is not anyones place to tell anyone else how to play on their 15 bucks, especially not if they are doing the same thing.

With that being said I will disagree that you can learn the game just by doing AE. You can indeed learn your powersets just in AE, however there are lots of badges that actually give you things that are needed to round out your toon properly that are not offered in AE. Accolades!

While you may do other things in the game besides AE, there are many newer players that are not. They are pl'n toons to 50 in a matter of a couple of days or less and haven't a freaking clue how to play them. Fine, that is their perogative. However those same players are the quickest ones to ask to get on a tf. Yes its frustrating that they are lvl 50 and don't even understand basic attack chains and don't have powers that they NEED in their build such as stamina. However that isn't the issue. The real issue is as veteran players when we kindly try to offer some suggestions to them they are dickheads about it. Then turn around the very next day and want to join the tf/team you are attempting to put together again.

I have found myself not paying any attention to globals I do not recognize as being in the game for a while when I am putting together tf's lately to avoid the AE noobs. That is sad to me because I used to embrace teaming with new players and used to get joy out of offering some mentoring, maybe dropping some influence on them or just chatting it up a bit.

Why would that bother you just out of curiosity? If they had a team partially put together with a few spots left and needed specifics for those few spots.....

While I don't think every team needs a tank or emp etc....I think every team needs an equal balance of damage/aggro control/heals/buffs. While I personally don't want to turn anyone down for a team to play the toon they want to play...I also am not going to jeopardize something failing or taking entirely too long because the team isn't atleast half-*** put together right.

If I am putting together a tf and have 6 blasters and a stalker, no the last spot is not going to an MM, sorry. Unless they are by chance the villain version of empathy. (crap I can't ever remember the name of that set, sorry.)

Point is if a team needs certain AT's to make it a successful team then everyone should be willing to play whatever is needed to get the job done. If no one has what is needed then its not wrong for the team leader to try to hold out for what they think is needed.

As if success is dependent on any particular AT on a team, blah.

Just throw your global in to the pot. Once you know who your partner is you can quickly switch to what you need to then.

On Champion which is by no means a heavily populated server. Playing on a very good computer. Lag should seriously not be this bad for me. Especially being Champion is still all green even on double xp weekend. I want my damn badge.

    Plzkkthxbye.
