Quote:You did not participate in my last event. No rules got changed at the last moment. There were participants that suggested some changes to make the event shorter. They were all then given the opportunity to vote on whether they wanted to makes changes or not. Of course you don't know what the **** you are talking about because you did not even participate.sure... give the money to run them.. I would.. we did one last week
. All have to say last event you done been a mess. Rules gettign change at last moment
If you don't like how I run my events do not participate. Ever. Seriously. -
or you could just run them mr mayor of Champions.....
Being the shoe apparently fit you I hope you will decide to wear it..... -
YOu would be the finger that partially pl'd my MM for my test team. :-)
Which is actually a sweet memory to me. I still giggle when I remember what you told me when we started the first farm map. "Stay at the door, I am not dealing with your ******* pets aggro'n ****".
Even when needing to desperately get that toon leveled for an upcoming match standing at the door and not playing was like pulling my fingernails out one by one. -
Quote:I gather you assume I pl'd all of those 50's? Nope. I have 2 lvl 50's that were "partially" pl'd for my test pvp teams because I had no choice and needed them quick for a match. The other 21 lvl 50's were played through content, badges, the whole nine yards. I work from home and used to play CoX about 12-15 hours a day while working. Did that for about the first 3 years of my gameplay and yeah 50's accumlate quickly with no effort at trying to level them quickly, especially being I love large teams on invincible. NOt for the xp but for a challenge. I can also count the number of times I have been on a farm on one hand. In fact I can count speed run tf's I have done on about 2 hands. I don't like farming for rep, loot, badges, or anything else. I like to play the game. Not everyone with a load of 50's has them from pl'n. I love content and will take that over quick xp any day of the week.
No offense to you, or anyone else that has this many 50's already, but this kind of thinking is exactly why I'm in no hurry to PL to 50 on every toon I make. -
Quote:No sets I am interested in. I have every lvl 50 I find remotely interesting. Exactly why can I not EXPECT new content for lvl 50's? If lvl 50's were not meant to be played then why would there be the content that already exists or the fact that to earn a purple recipe you have to be fighting lvl 50 baddies. Personally I think it is fair for me to EXPECT new content whether it be for a lvl 50 or any other level. Also they didn't just hand a crapload of new features for a new creation, giving existing powers and allowing them to just be used for different AT's doesn't change the fact that they already existed and I have already played them. IE. Rad blast on a blaster is the same as it was on a defender, same animations, same attacks, just more damage.Seriously. You could be play other games, they don't even have enough content to satisfy their EXISTING leveling process . They had to make mission repeatable to fill in the gap.(cough Champions Online cough).
THERE IS NO GAP IN THIS GAME.
Everything has an end, it is a fact of life as well as in game. So once you have reached fifty, why would you EXPECT them to create more content for "finished" characters. So you want entertainment for the next year, roll a new toon. It's not like they didn't just hand you a crapload of new features for this new creation.
Anyways my post wasn't meant to be a ***** post, was just basically saying give lvl 50's some love please. -
-
I have done every one of my contacts, not like they keep giving you more once the arc is over. I have done the scanner missions a gazillion times. Boring. I have done all the Tfs a gazillion times, also most of those qualify under the "exemption" part that I am not wanting to always do which is why I asked for more +50 content.
After 23 level 50's and the ONLY new content for 50's that was added in the last 4 years being ITF, STF, LGTF, RWZ missions and paper missions.....yeah my pot of stuff to do that is interesting is empty. Sadly I15 allows me to turn all my powers pink now so I will spend all of an hour doing all of my toons and yeah well then what? (BTW I am totally disappointed that the power customization that I am totally not excited about didn't have any bright colors like the hot pink)
I still love the game. However I pretty much have every lvl 50 I am interested in having. So give me something to play? :-) -
Well I wasn't on long last night, but firsts thing I did was pick some random toon and went to the tailor and made all her animations pink. Not because I cared about the ability to do that but because well I was bored.
Then I went to the character build screen with thoughts of making a new toon out of the new choices but nothing tickled me.
Then I set a map to 8 with +5's and got trained wrecked because of the retarded build I made while dilusional on my fire/kin.
Then I logged out. Beyond the fact that hopefully the new team settings will invigorate the market some and keep all the AE noobs from bugging me as much there isn't anything much in this issue that intrigues me.
New content/zones/tf's/powersets please?
P.s. Devs, every 50 that I have that I enjoy playing has no content left to play except for exempting down type stuff. Bah. More +50 content plz? -

I will decide the elimination strategy at the event based on how many teams we have to make it competitive yet not too long of an event.
**I had stated after my last event that I would not be running arena tourney events any more because of a couple peoples inability to show good sportsmanship and be drama-free. NO drama will be tolerated. If running events can't be fun then that is a problem to me. Only attend if you are there to compete fairly and have a good time. -
Quote:Yeah well first they would have to add some new content because hard taskforces in this game do not exist.I think it was a early case of swine flu when dev's decided to make changes. Who wanted slow and retarded pvping? If the dev's wanted to please the new comer pvper they should made a zone for beginners. Real simple! and for the market there should be cap or better oppertunities to gain purples or rare recipe.. maybe earning a purple for completing a hard taskforce or for gain certain accomplisments.

Quote:Exactly, and well said.Well, most of this thread has been tl;dr, but I can say this in relation to whether we've realized the potential of the new PvP or not. If McDonald's suddenly started putting Vegemite on their Big Mac, would you tell the people who thought it was disgusting the same thing? Sure, some people like Vegemite (supposedly) but does that make it a valid thing to say that people just haven't gotten used to it being on the burger? Of course not, people would demand the original back and McDonald's would probably admit they made a mistake (and possibly still offer the Vegemite burger as a separate item if it actually sold at all).
I think some of the changes they made are very necessary. As an OPTION. In a new pvp'r zone. PVP didn't have to be trainwrecked across the board. Offer it as an option for the beginner. Just like they have a tutorial zone for pve, they should have made the same thing for pvp. -
Quote:They didn't convince themselves, the Dev's convinced them. It wasn't like a normal beta experience where people are randomly invited such as yourself. The teams were approached by the Dev's specifically to help them. Special invites for the purpose of helping them. I thought I made that clear in my post, apparently not, so hope its clear now.
Heh, that explains the bitterness no doubt.
So if I understand correctly, the arena folks and all the cookie cutter builds and FoTM ness went to closed beta, (which I was also in btw) and convinced themselves that they would know what changes needed to be made for ALL pvpers , right?
Quote:I am to believe that the plans and changes that you all proposed would have made PvP for ALL better, and not just better for the elite pvpers? I'm sorry but based of the egos I've encountered in-game and based on the attitudes and reactions after I13 by this group of know-it-alls, I find this very hard to believe.
Quote:I'm more convinced now than I was before that I13 isn't broken at all. It appears or at least sounds like people just quit because they didn't get their way. It's understandable... but quite petty IMO. Especially since now those who didn't quit can only gripe about how I13 isn't I12. Everyone was for the change until the change happened and didn't include all the changes that were bulletpointed on some proposed list. Why didn't it include ANY of those changes????? Were they really great ideas? Are you sure? Common sense has the answer I believe... even if one's ego won't allow it to be revealed. I believe the other part to this is that the changes did include some propsed by casual and not so casual PvPers right? Ouch! I feel the pain but seriously, this was almost 3 issuses ago?
Quote:You want me to be convinced that because I've PvPed for the last 3 years probably 90% of the time... because I PvP more than the Devs, that I would know better about what changes should be made to make PvP better for you and every other PvPer? Perhaps only those who arena know best? Maybe not, maybe only the really really good PvPers know whats best for all of us?
Quote:If I'm not being clear I'll say this. It's a matter of perspective. I believe Castle and the others have a much bigger window to look out of than we do. One that sees the present and the future of CoX. It's one thing to believe you can offer help and provide feedback better than the next guy... it's a completely other thing to believe you actually know better than the folks behind the game. Seriously? Yeah I was serious.
Quote:From what you posted It just seems like a group of PvPers went to closed beta thinking they would get whatever they wanted because the Devs were finally ready to show some love to PvP... Only to realize that they were just there as fillers for the Devs collect data and what not. Yeah If I set my self up like that I'd be bitter too... shame .[/
I wasn't lied to or used. In fact eventhough I don't like the new pvp I have put forth a huge effort to support it and help it grow. However all these months later I can sit up and see that the pvp crowd didnt come back, there are very few new pvprs, very little pvp, and being this is a business that wants to promote pvp that its a bad business decision to not just admit the changes are wrong. If the goal was to get more pvprs, and the changes failed to do that then time to go back to the drawing board. You say its the pvprs with the ego issues, personally I think the same rings true for the devs. Rather than admit the plan phailed, they just keep letting pvp die even more. -
Quote:Please tell me you are kidding????I think it's more likely that we got it wrong.... than they did. I'm sure to you and many others however, that's not the case... beacuse the people who play the game are always much more knowledgeable about what needs to be done than the people that design it right??
Let me take a crack at this.
The Dev's don't pvp. Admittingly. Not to say they don't do an occassional, casual match by any means, but they are not by any means hardcore pvpr's. Hell I wouldn't even say they are pvpr's because IMHO unless you actually practice at pvp, pvp with some regularity and design your toons with atleast a semblance of a pvp build then you are just a pve'r that occassionally trys pvp.
How in the world can the 17 year old kid that has never done anything more than microwave a hot pocket tell a goumet chef how to cook?
Now I will agree some changes needed to be made to pvp. FOTM's were a problem. Only to a point though, because there was a counter to EVERY FOTM that ever hit the stage. Thing was too many people were not smart enough to know what that counter was. Anyways, yes changes needed to be made. Here is where the problem comes in that most are not aware of unless they were a test pvp'r.
The Dev's included us in the closed beta. Specifically invited the test pvp crowd to closed beta to help them iron out what changes needed to be made. We went to closed beta with an open mind that there would be changes we wouldn't like but appreciative of the fact that they were willing to partner with us to get these changes done right. A lot of very good pvp'rs spent days/weeks testing all this stuff. On test all the time, testing. Providing feedback. An occassional non-pvp'r Dev was seen standing in the arena, not in a match mind you, but just in the building itself. Pvp'rs tested. Tested some more. Gave feedback. Gave thoughts and ideas. In fact I believe it was Mac that came up with a proposal of changes and gave it to the Dev's that would solve every single problem that they were trying to solve without actually wrecking pvp. **Just found out it was NOT Mac, apparently I got my names mixed up.
I13 came out with not so much as one single suggested change by the pvp crew. Not one.
So basically the people that don't pvp made pvp changes and ignored those that do pvp, and you think that is ok?
I normally don't whine about the changes because it is what it is. It is their game to change how they want to. However had to post this being your statement is just wrong. Very wrong. Of course people who actually pvp would know more about how to design or change pvp compared to people who don't pvp.
For example. The dev's solution to melee not being able to compete fairly was to suppress everyone to slow them down so the tank/scrapper would be able to catch them. Same thing could have been achieved by only suppressing someone when they were attacked specifically by a melee attack. YOu get punched, you are slowed down and can't run away as fast for a few seconds so the tank/scrapper has time to get in another attack. Seems fair to me? It was suggested by the pvpr's, but instead everyone is suppressed all the time which sucks. Just one example of many. -
Quote:Amen.
I hate to say it I actually miss Elf's 600 Point crit shark attack. I miss Althaea's AS for 1500. I miss the repel and KB of Brynn's hurricane. I miss break free actually breaking me free. I miss getting detoggled by Shinobi's Rad/Psi when I ran out of insps. I miss Kickn' Cowgirl nervous on vent for her first 2v2. I miss Kat's test emp 'Rapin' Face'. I miss Wombicus, Haunt, Hush, Ego, Psyrene, B, and Evo from my test team. I miss Oz playing Red Cross Woman before Thermal was cool. I miss War Council even though they wrecked me every day. I miss my Aim + Build Up + Blaze for 850. I miss when slows actually slowed, debuffs actually debuffed, and buffs actually buffed. I miss when you walked into arena/zone with what you made not what the devs thought you needed. I miss when every match started with glhf/all in and ended with gg/gf.
*sigh* good times.
To sum it up I miss the people and the adrenalyn rush.
I know when I first started out on test with PCJL and we would be practicing against other teams or preppin for a match my heart would be pounding. I had to actually worry about how I played my toon. I had to worry about actually healing and buffing. As I got better and moved on to other teams and learned more it was even more of an adrenalyn rush. Now I don't have to worry about anything, nothing is a challenge. In fact on my emp the only challenge there is for me is to count heals and spread them out so heal decay doesn't get my teammates killed. Now instead of healing a teammate that is taking spike damage I have to wait until they are almost dead to heal them. WTF?
What is really missing out of the new pvp is the pre-match preparation. The adrenalyn rush of seeing what the other team was bringing and then switching builds to counteract what they were bringing. Force field bubbler meant we were switching to bring a therm in. Omg they are bringing 3 psi blasters, lets bring in an extra emp. Ok who are we caging?
Now all of that is pointless because no AT does anything spectacular anymore. We used to worry about specific players. Now the only thing to worry about is who will get lucky enough to push buttons the fastest or have the most uber build.
Sadly I joined the PVPEC to help build up pvp again, but there is really no point to me. While I can feel good when a new pvp'r trys out the new pvp and likes it I can't help but just shake my head in sadness that they will never know what its like to be one of the "great ones", because no such thing exists anymore.
Yanno, most of all I miss the people that were considered the "greats". A lot of non-pvpr's think some of those people were just pvp ******* because they may have been a little rough around the edges. In truth though, for those that pvp'd with them, they truly were great. Helpful, willing to share their knowlege and just good laughs. AJax, UW, Reaver, M3z, Brynn, Johnnie, Dusk, and so many more from the test crowd, the list is just too long. -
I think its all about how you play the game.
If you want to give every toon you make some fantastic build, and you PL and harvest season for a 50 happens all the time then I can see where its impossible to keep up with Io'n a toon.
Without pl'n, and casually playing the game an hour or two a night it takes quite some time to get a toon to 50. If you play the market for 15 minutes at the end of each night you play, and play the toon casually you should have enough stockpiled by time that toon hits 50 to have a decent build.
Or atleast that is my method. I save my good recipe rolls that I use in builds, and sell the rest while leveling. I casually flip some stuff at the market, which I just started doing when Ping started writing his guides. Before I started actually flipping at the market I was able to still have enough for a decent build by time each toon hit 50.
So yeah if you are getting a new lvl 50 every couple weeks or days instead of every few months, it might be tough.
If you level your toon up at a regular rate, plan ahead on your build so you know what to save or sell and use all aspects of the game at your disposal, ie. the market and base storage it really isnt that hard to keep up with the Jones's. -
Quote:Yeah I didnt agree with him on the market part of his post either. As someone who is patient and as someone who makes money off of those who are impatient I like the prices right where they are. :-)While i totally agree with the PvP portion of Elfs post i dont agree with the market part. Its easy to get IOs on a toon as long as you dont use the BUY IT NAO!!! option. The last five bids are usually very misleading. Patience is the key to IOing out your toons. Just remember that you can also sell at the high prices that you complain about buying at. Lots of good advice in the market section of the forums.

I must be an oddball because I can think of many, many, many times of putting a team together and specifically requesting people to play a drk or storm. Yes everyone loves a good kin, but tohit debuffs and control by chaos are definitely sets that are very effective on many teams.
As far as people not wanting a stormy on the team, I can only surmise its because the particular individual didn't know how to play their stormy on a team. A good stormy or drk can play the roles of both tank and troller all in one and keep a team fairly safe to boot.. -
Quote:Well I only played Wow a week, well not even, maybe 10 hours tops. I specifically remember when I did play it ...looting dead bodies, having a lot of country terrain, killing stuff at a farm, walking very slow and far. I remember the power trays being very similar to Aion. I remember looting different armor or weapons from kills and not being able to use them without training for them. I remember the whole Mages, warriors, scouts type of characters. I also remember not having a lot of character customization available. Unless I am not understanding how to make my character it was the similar in Aion, not as bad as WOW though. There is a lot more I could list but I will just say its similar in playstyle to me. Of course I am talking about 10 hours of Wow and comparing it to about 5 hours/5 levels of Aion so far. So I could be off with my first impressions.Just wondering, what makes it that much like WoW? Control scheme and such, or is it just that they're both "sword and sorcery" style MMOs. I ask because I haven't had a chance to try Aion, and I've been looking forward to trying it for a little while, but if its that similar to WoW it may dissuade me.
I didn't like WOW at all, and I enjoyed Aion. So I wouldn't let it being similar keep you from trying it. -
Aion is a LOT like WOW. I mean...alot. I only tried Wow for like a week and couldn't stand it but I have a very vivid memory of it. However the graphics in Aion, the OMG WEATHER is so cool that it was actually very enjoyable to play the other night when I tried it.
What I absolutely did not like about it is levels 1-5 (which is what me and a friend achieved) had absolutely no incentive for teaming. (Hopefully at some point that will change because without teamage there is no point in playing an MMORPG to me.) There was nothing we did that couldn't have just as easily, been done solo. The instant duels / pvp was kick *** though.
Just like CO, Aion could not possibly replace COH for me, but was a refreshing change for a few hours. -
Just checked GP. 3 of us in this thread are from the same SG and in checking our calendar the only night without an event posted we need to attend is Thursday night unfortunately. NOt sure how that works for anyone else.

Quote:I have used Mcafee's for years with absolutely no problems. I have it on all 4 of my pc's. I don't feel strongly one way or another about it, I use it because its familiar and simple.
I never realized people felt that strongly about McAfee one way or the other.
I have heard many people say it sucks or say its basically a virus. I think its all about what you do as an individual online. I am not a big web surfer, I have a few trusted sites such as my bank, companies I pay bills with, amazon.com etc that I use. I send/receive a lot of emails, and use messenger alot for work stuff. My work sites which are of course secure sites. So for someone like me who isn't out discovering each and every dark and scary crack and crevice of the internet daily...it works. People that are more aggressive on the internet, might need something else.
While I have never had a bad experience with Mcafees , I did have a horrible experience with Norton's. It seemingly threads itself through your entire system and was taking my computer hostage. Some people might like it, though. Personally I found it to be restrictive and too "secure", even when toning down the settings. -
Quote:So basically the koolest kids club gets to decide who gets to drink their koolaid, essentially?I think if the person who is giving bad rep to you has way less rep than you do, it comes out as a grey dot. Likewise, if someone with 10 green dots gives a person with one green dot good rep, it counts for more than if someone with one or two greens gave good rep to the same person.
Blah.
I shall just take all the koolkids hostage. For every day that I do not get a new green dot I will put out a minimum of 10 of my extremely long, opinionated and anal posts that you guys adore so much.
/Me RP'n as if I really care.
