Ok so this meeting is tonight. Can we get the vent info you will be doing this on so we are not scurrying around at the last minute trying to get it?
Quote:There is atleast one more captain that has not posted in this thread so I count 6 serious captains and I am pretty sure those 6 can keep their teams active throughout the league. I'm rather shocked but extremely happy with the response to this. If only the Devs would lend a hand and give us some free server transfers things would be perfect. Since no one has said a time or date yet lets shoot for Wednesday the 12th at 9pm for the meeting. We will post a free agent thread after that and get things rolling. Id like to have a "showcase" prior to the draft so that free agents can show their level of skill (Something along the lines of a few kickballs). -

wtf would I lie for? We have 4 solid committed and another half dozen in mind to approach and hopefully can get 2 more from that. If not then its all about fun anyways and I wont cry about picking up the other 2 from draft.
-
Has a decision been made on the vent date?
-
Assuming this takes off soon I have a team started as well.
-
I need a team!
lolkat ur bad.
Beat ya to it.... -

Just a thought Dex. Maybe there are people interested in or at least willing to Captain but don't have 4-8 people they feel are decent they can get for their core group. Maybe start discussing giving some type of pick order priority for teams that form but don't have the core roster filled before hand?

I tend to disagree. In 2 years he has never admitted his changes were not good, no matter what kind of hard facts were tossed at him. Chances were he would never admit it if for no other reason but pride.
Not that I have any high hopes for positive change but I do believe its more likely for the dude with no pride about the screw up changing it than the guy who would have to admit he was wrong doing it now over 2 years later.
Quote:As stated before, he's passed it off to Synapse, Black Scorpion, and to a certain degree Positron.
When the lead designer posts in Castle's goodbye thread and basically says "Yeah see ya Floyd, now I gotta figure out these power spreadsheets cause I haven't the ******* clue what's going on", that doesn't sit well with me.
Point is, Castle was the one to botch PvP and was probably the only one to un botch it. -
Some one tell Pops I got stuck with work crap and I am not sure I am going to make it to tank for him. :-(

Don't forget gold titles are handed out tomorrow night!
Quote:Ok here is the prize info and Psoma if you can pass it on to your guys who might not frequent the forums I would appreciate it.
- Gold titles will be handed out Wednesday 12/15/10 @ 9pm EST. I have to dig through my mailbox to see what title was approved. No you don't get to pick it, I have to get approval on these in advance before the event even starts.
- Forum titles. You may pick your own individually as long as they are within reason and within forum guidelines. Mod8 says he would like to keep them relevant to the event. Ie. While we all know we pl to get pvp toons a title about pl'n isn't exactly relevant. Lets keep it pvp related and in good taste. Each member needs to send me their choices for title. Send your top 3 choices in order of preference. These must be received by me here on the forums no later than 12/19/10 or else you will just get some generic title instead.
- Costume codes. Send me a p.m. here on the blueboards with your global name in the subject. Inside please give me a real life email address and I will email them all out as soon as I get them.

I would agree there are lots of people doing things for the wrong reason and I often find myself also thinking some people are more about the title and attention than actually doing good stuff for good people. That being said though I don't think that is a reason to not have an organized committee.
One of the suggestions I made when I filled out the survey was to have it open to every one, and every member be equal and have equal votes.
Every server has people running events with no committee or titles. It can be done, and has been done. That doesn't mean that Champion can't have some thing even better. An organization that is actually about the Champion Community, running events, and helping people run their events.
There are so many people with great ideas but no desire to run events. So many people wanting to run events but lacking in creativity to actually come up with them. So many people with deep pockets wanting to fund events but not wanting to run them. Having a website and a committee that actually put all of that together and made good stuff happen would be great.
Force's points in this post are valid though, some people are and will want to do it for recognition. That is part of life in all aspects and not just in a video game. That doesn't mean that things such as committees shouldn't exist, it just means the committee should be set up in such a way that those bottomfeeders don't have a foodsupply of attention to make them feel famous.
**On a side note there is nothing wrong with people wanting to feel appreciated for what they do. Lets not confuse wanting appreciation with being attention whores.
Quote:PERC aside we already have an unofficial "core" group of folks on Champion who run events for the community as well as help out as much as they possibly can.
They don't have titles. They don't have a specific group. And in general aren't looking for fame and glory when they go about it.
Which is as it should be. In my own humble opinion on the matter, forming a group or committee as is being discussed here seems to simply give names, titles and the much needed glory that it would seem some people need in the community. Which isn't the way it should be. The people who should be forming up a group to help the community are the very people who think that the group to begin with isn't necessary.
And while it may not be even remotely your intent or follow in your thought process it seems a note worthy topic.
Yes, lets form up a committee and give ourselves titles so that we can be known and respected while the rest of the people who do just as much to help the community don't ask for anything or want anything aside from people enjoying themselves and bettering themselves in CoX.
Now I'm not accusing anyone directly of being guilty of this, however it most certainly springs to mind. -

Lol. Dress like a badge was not a PERC cross-server event. It wasn't created by any one but an actual member of the Champion community who just so happened to be a PERC rep. If the event was not ran across all the servers that means it was a Champion event created by a Champion rep which is the case for most of the events you guys have seen. Huge events like Mr. & Mrs. that were ran across all 11 servers are the events that you can be negative about and possibly not be insulting someone on Champion who actually put time and effort in to trying to entertain you to have it not appreciated. That would account for maybe 20% of the PERC events you have seen ran in the last few years on Champion. The other 80% were events Champion organizers came up with for Champion.
There are some reps that are upset by their treatment in PERC, they quit. You guys showing your support of them by making comments that are negative about the organization made up of lots of wonderful people trying to provide you with events is lame. Especially when 80% of the events you have seen on Champion were created by Champion people for Champion people. Even the other 20% were ran by Champion people for Champion people whether they came up with the concept or not.
Encouraging people on their quest of moving forward is great. Doing so with negativity towards people who volunteered their time shows a lack of character.
Quote:After much editing: Good luck w/ picking up the pieces and starting over w/ Champion at heart. PERC, in my humble opinion was and has been a complete waste of time. I hope as do many Championites I know to see events better structured and more friendly to those who don't want to dress like a badge among other things. Let's get together and kick some a** as a server for once instead of gathering and boosting our names.
I do wish ya'll the best of luck and I very much hope there are some planned events in the future that I have at least the slightest wish to attend unlike our past PERC events. -

Quote:What are our options with titles...like individual choices vs team, and forum vs in-game? Like, can I say I want my forum title to be "PvP Got Pooped On" while my in-game could be "Don't ask me how I got a gold title?"...but Lib's forum title could be "dUmb actually won something" and his in-game title could be "Ask me for a PL!" or whatever? -
Yeah I was going to wait to get finalized scores for the other ranking teams but they dont seem too concerned about that so yeah gratz to dUmb for winning the League. I will get with Mod8 later today to get the prizes rolling.

Ty for the support and great showing guys!
Winners of the costume codes are Flafatron, Budweiser and Nanu. I will get them sent out on Monday, I don't do paperwork on weekends. :-) -
Title says it all.
I have 3 costume codes that I found with the lint in my pocket I will be giving out randomly during the matches based on whatever random factors my brain thinks of. Ie. Random kill shots, random clutch Ap's, random deaths that amuse me etc. -
Happy Birthday Bitter!
Wishing you lots of reach-arounds in the coming year.
