    TLDR

Basic definition of soldier - a person engaged in military service

I spent just a few years in the military and never felt a rivalry with any of my brothers/sisters in arms, especially once I realized one branch could not execute its mission effectively without the other. I think the appropriate answer is that the Marines specifically feel very strongly about this point (we've all seen the sexy commercials...fancy unforms, the few & the proud etc...got it, understand the strong sense of pride in the Corps). Honestly though, I have never seen navy personnel get riled about about being called a soldier and responding with, "Im not a soldier, Im a Seaman!".

You have to realize that many civilians dont see the difference and that the term soldier is often applied across the board with no disrespect intended. A good example would be me sitting in a bar awhile back when a woman mentioned that her daughter (in the AF) would be home soon and a guy nearby raised his beer up and said, "I love our soldiers".

Military groups with a strong "sense of self" and unit esprit de corps often seem to buy the hype theyre sold about being the best and fall into the mindset. When I was jumping out of airplanes, alot of the paratroopers I served with thought they were better than their "dirty leg" counterparts that werent Airborne. Its funny when you think about it in the most basic of terms and realize that somebody went to a school...learned how to jump out of a perfectly good airplane and then considered themselves a step above those that havent attended the school. The funny part is once you're a civlilian again...none of that or military affiliation really means much to anyone except to the individual.

God bless you if you served and God bless all of our "soldiers"

It would be fairly trivial in a single player game but in a massively multiplayer online game, however, there are a lot more considerations than just ease of coding.
I agree that its a lot more complicated of a thing than the way I put it, your post is right. I was kidding more than anything else and Im always grateful for new stuff, complete with bugs or not.

No derail intended, but why is that?

Also, I have rad Troller and used the empty jarhead option to say that he is something like a nuclear reactor "core" type. I havent figured out the full bio yet.

Gotcha...I had considered a KM/DA Scrapper at 1 point to basically stun everything. I had noticed that CS from KM was doing like 600 dmg in PvP (like twice the damage of Stalkers AS without the disadvantages) and wasn't sure if the mechanic crossed over to PvE or not, but figured the stuns would be fun as well to use PvE side.

Use the moving tails concept, add a bunch of mini moving tails on the head and design the tips with snake heads....done!

Once they were stopped, the prospect of making extraneous noise when they know there was at least one herd around became a bit more dangerous.

Silly? Yes. It was naive to think there wouldn't be traffic jams on there, especially when they passed a massive one on the way out of Atlanta.
Consider the episode in season 1 when after they escape the city and all drive back to camp in the truck and Mustang. I think the car alarm was sounding off the whole time and then the camp is attacked by 5 million zombies (fuzzy about this part as I dont fully remember it...little help please). Is it a stretch to assume the zombies were attracted by the noise and just kept piling up and walking until they came across our guys? I mean I wouldnt even talk unless I needed to, Id make everyone learn sign language just not to make noise while running their mouths lol.

In this new episode, it could have been the zombies were heading in a diffferent direction until they heard the motorcycle and then began making their way toward the sound (or not). Its the first thing I thought of...but I tend to overanalyze things.

Either way, it doesn't take away from how much I enjoy the show, but I thought to myself that I wouldnt take any risks that werent worth taking if it was me and my family in that situation.

An additional point of contention...if T-Dog (lol, great name for a black guy I suppose) was bleeding like animal, how come the zombies didnt "sense it/smell it" or whatever it is they do?

Agreed, but I guess they wanted him to look cool so to hell with zombie attraction. Im sure at least a small population of the ladies watching the show probably get gushy for an independent, good ol southern boy that can hunt and track and refuses to ride in a car with everyone else b/c he's the lone wolf/independent, man's man type. It doesn't matter that the end of the world has arrived...40 years later and Easy Rider is still making an impact. Got to give people options for sex symbols on the show

    lol good times.

This character has always been interesting to me and I feel underutilized. Maybe there has been a placement issue b/c hes partially a Supes clone, but his backstory is really different enough to flesh him out. And yeah, I enjoy the concept that has been used in the Young Justice cartoon recently to portray him...seems right on the money.

I bought Street Justice on day one, and I'm still looking forward to both of the upcoming melee sets.

It's just an odd situation in my eyes when we've had information about five new powersets (Time, Beam, Street Justice, Titan Weapons, Staff Melee) and over half of them fall into the same category. You might say it's illegitimate to look for a trend in only five powersets, but when I consider that Going Rogue had four brand new powersets then nothing for a year, five powersets seems a lot more significant to me.

All I'm really asking is whether I missed any information, or whether they're focusing more on the melee ATs. It does make business sense to focus on the most popular ATs, and the point that melee sets reach more ATs than any other type (besides their defense counterparts) is legitimate. If you have limited resources it's clearly the easiest option to make the most people happy. It's just that you can't assume that X new powersets will make everyone happy regardless of their type.
Sorry if I jumped the gun and "got all up on you" in your thread.

Even the moment when Carl yanked the bundle and the body slumped down towards him seemed incredibly similar. I don't know if the people making this show was trying to copy that Conan scene on purpose, but if they weren't they had a major case of unconscious copy-catism on their hands.

Same concept Id say...its why I placed evil in quotation marks. Many dictators and conquering societies of the past did "bad" things for what they considered the greater good. History is written by the victorious, but many times these personalities and societies are viewed as "evil".

I havent read much of the cannon on Emperor Cole, but I think he also goes by the name Tyrant as a possible example.

He was in a creek bed, with one of the walkers coming down with him, and the other one standing on the bank still. He didn't need more separation than that when he finally took them down.

Still, it leaves plenty of mysteries out there, and I like the direction they're going with the zombies not being totally mindless and doing some "weird" things that will hopefully be explained.

The only thing I didn't really buy was them finding dead, but not reanimated, bodies in cars that were fine. I get that you'll have a few deaths from an accident, but who just sits in a car and waits to die? Wouldn't most people get out and walk, or try to maneuver their cars around the wreck? Or is there a possibility of some sort of zombie-virus-related reasons behind it?
    I agree with you overall.

I think the non-zombie dead bodies simply serve the purpose of a visual/suspense device for the TV show (its not as creepy seeing empty vehicles as much as dead bodies littering the area). While watching the kid reach into the truck, it plants in your head the question of whether the body is really a "sleeping" zombie thats about to bite a hole in this character since the adults are too silly to keep an eye on their children.

Obviously comic and TV show have some real differences, but if I remember correctly, in the comic ALL dead bodies reanimated...the virus was just a vehicle. If someone was bitten and untreated (chopping off the limb), the general infection killed the victim and then the virus caused reanimation at some point therafter. A poster probably already said all this at some point, but I havent read most posts so far in the thread.

  16. I JUST started playing a Dark/ Defender in the last few months and am a big, fat fan. I paired mine with /Rad to compliment the multiple debuffs Dark/ already brings to the table (also havent played Rad within the last few years). I went Dark Mastery and its currently sitting at 62% +recharge and at 30% defense to all except Psi, 24%. I pop a small purple and jump into melee, not much touches me in addition to Darkest Night doing its job.

Solo it does great damage, especially with Aim/Soul Drain combo...teamed it does great with debuffs and a monster AOE heal. Im not sure why it took me so long to play a Dark/ but it was a fun ride and still is at this point for TFs.

/Rad allows for the addition of a slew of procs like damage and Achilles' Heel: Chance for Resistance Debuff IO. I havent done Dark Blast in awhile, but sure you could add some items to beef up your damage output.
  17. Great story and I wish for everyone to have such a great experience through gaming.

Now I wonder how many threads will pop up of guys/gals who are already married and met the "new" love of their life in game and what the stats are for spousal divorces at the hand of CoX (have only heard of women taking off b/c of dudes too focused on Call of Duty so far).

I'd rather just use a bit of "Hollywood suspension of disbelief" and just assume the Zombie virus in this show is not spread just by getting zombie blood on exposed skin.
Yeah, my post was a slight counterpoint of Caemgen's thought about it being feasible for survivors to wear protective suits and goggles. I think you and I are saying the same thing even though you don't need any real training to wear an NBC suit...its as simple as putting on extra large sweats.

We know zombie fluids dont infect with exposure to the skin...reference the episode where they had zombie intestines hanging around their necks etc.
In my original post, I said the concern was zombie fluid landing in my mouth and eyes while stabbing the face off of one six inches away.

Real world concerns VS Hollywood imagination I suppose...

Agreed and hollywood is hollywood...I was just saying the screaming and zombie fluids just seemed to jump out at me

Fanservice beat me to the the reponse about protective suits/goggles etc. Anyone here in the military knows about mandatory NBC training (chemical gear/protective mask); we used to try and make it not so tedious by doing an hour at a time geared up but playing sports. You realize how quickly you can overheat, masks fogging etc to know its not an easy deal.

Gotta be safe, but I cant imagine running from zombies in Georgia (105 degrees easily?) with anything more than a couple of layers of anything, but I probably would.
