A "cabal"? Since when is a group of players (even a hypothetical group) a "cabal"?

This is really making me laugh. You're totally going out of your way to make some huge deal out of this. I guess if it bothers you that much that someone out there is doing something with some common salvage that you'd bust my hump just for noticing it, well... yeah, I think you need to find yourself a better hobby then. Sakes.

Seriously, you've totally gone off the deep end. You should chill the frak out. God forbid I come in here and ask a question, for crying out loud.

Why do you think otherwise? Explain your logic.
I think you have me confused with someone else. I didn't even notice the prices or demand for this bit of salvage until this Saturday (as I said in my original post! hello?). So I'm just trying to guess at why it's happening. So I don't know, ask whoever is doing it!

So, yeah. You need your eyes examined. ;P

Riiiiiiight, whatever you say man! But I think you better lay off the sauce a little bit.

I don't think you'll find anyone in the Market forums which would consider that price particularly expensive. It is a great price for lowbies who can sell 3 or 4 of those and fund DOs / low level generic IOs. But I don't think that price point would cause anyone to balk at buying them.

Crazy range is when you start seeing Boresights sell for 5M apiece.
Yeah I was pretty sure whoever that complainer was, he was just overreacting. 100k is nothing to me.

I'm getting the feeling someone (or maybe a group?) are trying to bring in inf on their lowbies to start them out with, say, 50 or 100 million or so. That's just a total guess though.

EDIT: Also you happened to remind me what I was doing on Saturday in Talos Island in the first place. I was buying bronze rolls with the 9999 tickets I had and then crafting them to sell them. I've been totally following your example.

What about the demand for them? I think it was something like 12,000 bidding, which seems a little ridiculous to me.

I've never noticed this or the prices at all before though, since I never used this as a niche!
  6. I think it was this Saturday that I was on my Rogue MM in Talos Island on Virtue, doing something or other, when I heard this other player shout in Broadcast about how Alchemical Silver is going for crazy prices on the market. I believe he said something to the effect that all the marketeers must be going insane or something. As I happened to have one in my inventory, I just mailed it him to try to be helpful.

But I was curious! So I went to the Wentworths in Talos to check it out. Sure enough, Alchemical Silver was going for something like between 50k and 100k apiece! And the demand for them was through the freaking roof, like someone was afraid they were going to go out of style.

I think someone is on to something.

Maybe I should get in on it?
  7. Well for what it's worth (as I have a five year old system with a 7800 GS), I've always found that my GPU gets very hot whenever I play CoH (I prefer to not play when the GPU is idling much above 50c, as at that temp, it means that in most instanced maps it will go as high as 60c, and in certain maps as high as 65c). What I've done to help that problem is to:

    * 1: Put a lot of fans in my case; there are 5; two exhausts in the rear, two intakes on the side and one intake on the front.

    * 2: Throttle the max FPS of the game to 30.

You mean the one that's way more faithful to the original story that Roald Dahl wrote? The one that was considered a box office hit compared to that gross derivation of the original story made in 1971 that was initially considered a box office flop and which Dahl was very disappointed with and hated the changes so much that he refused to allow the sequel book to be made into a movie? The one where, when Tim Burton went to visit the author's former house to get an idea of what the guy was like and immediately recognized it as Charlie Bucket's house, Liccy Dahl declared that, finally, somebody got it! That version?

No big deal, but you're coming in here virtually doing what you're accusing others of doing, but to an unnamed group of "they" who you claim are being unfair to the OP.
Well then you're not part of that group then, are you? So what's your problem?

I'm not going to give a specific list of names because:
    * a) People can read the thread for themselves.
    * b) I'm pretty sure outing anyone specifically like that is frowned upon by the mods

I'm just here to mention that what I've seen so far has been entirely unfair to the OP, who really just wanted to understand why. Instead he got a bunch of people with chips on their shoulders. I entirely don't expect anyone else here to either agree with me be persuaded by me. In fact, I'm pretty sure they'll just start hating me too!

I'm just trying to place the truth where it belongs.

Heroes don't do that sort of thing to be popular.

They've made you into a pariah, now. They wouldn't listen to you even if you tried to argue that water was wet.

It's just so ludicrous, especially when I saw another thread somewhere on this board where someone else was getting hammered for doing what almost everyone else in this thread has been doing to you. So yeah, they're rather inconsistent too. It tells me this is more about who is popular than anything else, and they'll manufacture a reason to hate if one isn't there. That sort of thing really grates on me.

That others have said this board is so wonderful for being friendly always makes me laugh. It might be "less petty and hateful" but that's not really the same thing now, is it? Haha.

And then ends in what the preferable alternative is - yes, "preferable" for who? Just how did he come to that conclusion. Ah, his lordship.

    So yeah, like seriously.
You have got to be kidding me.

You really must be seeing an entirely different reply than I am, then.

This sounds more like you're just annoyed that someone is daring to disagree with your opinion more than anything else.

OK, I have to ask. Exactly where has he actually said anything like this? I've read this entire thread and I didn't see him trying to lord his opinion over anyone else. What I have seen is a whole bunch of others instantly foaming at the mouth because he didn't simply blindly accept their initial reactions and instead had to the audacity to ask for reasons why they felt the way they did. Like, seriously?

I don't really care about that "other" game, and just because it might have been implemented badly there doesn't necessarily mean it would be here.
  13. I'd give +rep to Johnny Butane right now for trying to use logic and reason while being essentially dogpiled by an unruly mob who loves their ad hominems, slippery slopes and strawmen (you know I had to throw that word into this thread, muhaha). That has to be somewhere between very brave and foolhardy.

Just remember that just because you do or don't have a problem with something doesn't mean everyone else is foolish for being otherwise. That goes for both sides of this "argument".

I think that would be rather awesome.

I can really deal with the rest of the respec process just fine, but what it does to the power trays is awful >.<
I always take a screenshot of the UI and save it, just before I enter a respec. When I'm done respeccing, I can just refer back to the image of how my trays looked before, to get my layout to look that way again.

Oh yeah, it was also VERY difficult to un-break that once it was done; Meaning getting the entrance to you base to work right was difficult if not impossible... so unfortunately <or fortunately if you see it that way> no decorating doorways.
I'm wondering why the base entrance was allowed to be moved inside a doorway in the first place. It would make more sense to me to have doorways only allow decorative items.

Though it looks like doorways take their properties from the rooms they connect, at least as far as wall and floor styles are concerned; it seems like they are one half of the two room types they link together. I suppose that would have to be reprogrammed so that doorways have their own properties entirely, which means setting the styles, lighting and colors for each individual doorway. If that is what it would take to allow decorative items to be placed in them, I for one would be fine with that!
  18. I'm suddenly trying to imagine someone who buys a subscription to an MMO, but only to participate in their forums, and they never actually install the game on their computer.
  19. I kind of thought that perhaps they could, while in the process of prettying up the old Paragon City zones, also give some love to the area surrounding the war walls. By that I mean not just placing more realistic looking buildings and landscapes out there, but actually expand the zones beyond the walls so that their borders are right up against adjacent maps, so that they'd be congruent with what the city map shows.

Heroes should be able to fly over the walls, and they should be able to see the neighboring zones and their war walls from a distance. It never made sense that heroes wouldn't be needed in those spaces between the war walls, anyway.
  20. I can totally tell that you don't play Sim City 4 or Cities XL. At least not the way I play them.

I'll agree with you that the war walls are impressive (edit: or at least, they used to be; they also need a facelift!).

I'll disagree with you that Praetoria is boring. It is wholeheartedly not boring. It is exciting and wonderful. I want Paragon City to be given such a facelift, with a lot more unique buildings!
  21. I remember this happening to me once. At the time, my base was using the basic generator. I just deleted it and placed a new one, and that worked. I don't know if that would work here though!

  23. It's my intention to turn my dual pistols blaster into a Vigilante. In her background I made her an ex-cop who had to turn in her badge after too many instances of use of excessive force. She turned right around and signed up as a hero. I wanted her to be the "Dirty Harry" type, and I figured making her a Vigilante would be just perfect!
