Interesting-it seems like those who got the CE from EB Games have all 7, but those who got it from Gamestop have problems.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I picked my CE box up from the EBGames store today and came home a happy camper with with everything as advertised. Looks like Gamestop got a bad batch.

Glad to see Loki acknowledging the situation and looking into it promptly. That's not the optimal situation for affected players, but it's a sign of good faith effort to make good on this.

It'll be interesting when Best Buy gets around to releasing all their copies.

As for the supposed "emphasis" on PvP - I think you'll see that it's just ONE part of City of Villains. It has PvE content levels 1 to 50.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ... 1 to 50? At launch?

What about the SG Vaults you once mentioned as a possibility in the meantime? A place for SGs to vault enhancements and such. I believe you mentioned access from City Hall, at the time. There were boards before these that, afaik, can't be searched that lead up to the launch of COH, too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Per the dialogue I had with Lord_Recluse a few months ago, I added this statement in the section on bases in 'The Last CoV Primer':

    [ QUOTE ]
The devs are still being cagey about when or if supergroups will be able to pool Influence, Inspirations, and Enhancements. Perhaps because of the Hammidon Enhancement issue still up in tha air? We'll have to wait and see.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Months ago, I point blank asked him about whether the Vault base improvement was just for 'Items of Power' and he replied that, "There are plans for Influence and Enhancements, but they are different from the Item of Power vaults."

So people who buy CoV are not necessarily getting a leg up on things as far as that highly-anticipated QoL feature. The devs have continued to be cagey about pooling Inspirations/Enhancements/Inf and have gotten no impression that there's something secret waiting in the wings this year.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
By doing this and repeatedly talking about bases being something to fight over peole automatically assumed that since the games were seperate that CoH would get all this content that CoV was getting and you only had to get CoV if you wanted to play a villain not play with all the new toys and features too.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I think that the dev team has been pretty clear in interviews and articles that there was going to be at least a period of exclusivity to certain features, including bases.

I think my 'L' is going out. This is the third post I've had to correct for L's dropping out.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
    Got links/articles/dialogs/screenies to prove that?

I've been a forumwhore here for a very LONG time and never once heard anyone mention that bases were A) a definite or B) Would be a free CoH feature if they were.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I agree on this part. Perhaps some think of this as something akin to Clinton asking about the definition of "is", but there was no promise. There were comments that the dev team wanted bases, that they they were working on them, but never were bases promised to be free or freely available.

Do I wish they were promised? Yes. Do I wish they were free to people completely uninterested in CoV? Sure. If it's that much of a deal financially or because of 'principles', then wait 6-12 months when it when CoV will likely be discounted to a price in line with a traditional standard expansion. In the meantime, you can enjoy the many gameplay additions that are freely bleeding into CoH already and for the next few months.

The price for the box is fixed at this point, however. Only the retailers can lower it now. If people want to argue about a hypothetical fee increase, you only have a few more days as well. October 5th is the big news day for CoV.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Wasn't it in the Prima Guide or something? I recall my SG talking about it back in the early days of CoH beta.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I tisn't in the Prima guide, but having bases has been something that the players have wanted and the devs have wanted to do since beta. The early design notes for the Faultline Dam Supergroup Trial are in the Prima guide.

  9. There has been no mention in print about character slots as of yet.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
The part that I have not heard explained yet is what if they are under the same account. As they are two stand-alone programs, I don't see why you couldn't have two people playing two stand-alone products under the same account. Will this be possible when City of Villains is released, or will I have to choose between having content that is unlocked by having the two games on the same account and a (supposedly) cheaper monthly fee, or being able to have one of us play CoV while the other plays CoH?

    [/ QUOTE ]
You will have to choose, as far as I can tell.

    [ QUOTE ]
The preorder contains a fourteen day trial. Do current CoH owners get fourteen free days?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I just tried one of the trial codes that came with my pre-order box and it will not work to extend the billing date. Looks like they are only usable to to set up new accounts.

    [ QUOTE ]
~ Villains will get cloaks, right? CLOAKS!

    [/ QUOTE ]
If you mean capes like in CoH, then yes. If you mean Batman-like or Spawn-esque trains of cloth, then no. Traditional cloaks and trenchcoats are still just a glimmer in some Cryptic coder's eye at this point.

For those of you keeping score at home, the link is here.

And, yeah, it tells me everything I needed to know. I'm not arguing whether or not the information is out there. But when I asked support about it, I never once got told this.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    I think that's a fair criticism.

I have a problem with people go into full-drama mode about the box copy lying to them, but it does seem a little bewildering that in the digital information age that support hasn't updated all its response scripts and there aren't more formal announcements. I don't have access to the behind-the-scenes action, though, and I've got researcher habits left over from my college days, so I guess other indutrious folk and I will continue to offer what dribs and drabs we have.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
There has been talk about "datamining" for determination of begining Prestige for existing SGs. Is anyone able to point where a Red Name has said this?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm pretty sure the devs aren't datamining except for recent statistical data. SG mode datatmining sounds like it would be at least as laborious as datamining for TF badges, and Positron has signalled that they aren't doing that anymore.
  13. The game will already be on your hard drive as part of your pre-order entry into beta. You will not need to install from the discs on launch day. You will only need the retail serial code that comes inside the retail box on launch day to play.
  14. Something is wrong with your link. Here's what I think you were trying to link:

    Regarding the other issues you've raised in this thread regarding the genders of the helmets and associated issues... although there will be a period of exclusivity for these items, we do plan to make them available to our community eventually. So if you can't get your hands on a particular costume piece right now, we will announce at a later date how you can acquire all the helmets. {Alexa 08/12/05}

    [/ QUOTE ]
If it's anything like the CoH dvd goodies, it means that they plan to offer a $20 repackaging of CoV goodies next summer.
  15. I just picked up my CoV pre-order. It doesn't say it provides beta access now.
  16. It's conceivable for the pre-order box to take a week to get you.

If it's been a couple of weeks, you should contact your retailer's customer service and if they can't tell you a rough date for delivery, you should consider cancelling your order. You can then give it one more try with that retailer in case the order just was glitched up (it happens sometimes), or you can pick a different retailer who is more reliable with ordering.

The pre-order boxes are out there at all the advertised retailers at this point.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
And now...ohhhhh...now they are offering a chance to get closed beta access TO ALL OF US!!! That's just a rip! I paid for the pre-order so that I could GET access to the beta. But now, people who didn't even pre-order have a chance to win access.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This is like the third or fourth "sign up a buddy, win a chance at CoV beta" promotion in the last year. Where have you been?

Once again, you will get beta access just as the CoH pre-orderers got beta access. It's just gonna probably be in the last month when the game is more solid, the feature list is locked down, and the beta servers have more convenient hours. You are still getting a premium.
  18. You obviously don't have a lot of experience with MMOG launches. The servers were rock-solid by lunch on launch day with no further outages. Please let the class know of other major MMOG launches that went smoother than that. We're all waiting with baited breath.

You can quibble about CoH concerning a variety of aspects, but the game's launch day was a new benchmark.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
OK, i've had my preorder disc for a week now, and because of some wierd issue with the disk on my home system, actually had to 'register' the serial # on my work laptop.

All went fine, and then i was advised that I'd see the activation in my email in 'just a few days.'

Have yet to see it (all ncsoft mail gets filtered to its own folder, so as to pre-empt my mail provider's spamblocker features).

    [/ QUOTE ]
If you used the pre-order registration serial to 'UPGRADE' as opposed to 'Add game', evidently you will not get a confirmation email. It's a mistake in the registration info. As long as the subscription line for CoH on your PlayNC Account page shows that Cov has been added to it, everything is kosher.

Once again, upgrading your account was the correct thing to do, but the registration info text about a confirmation email seems to be incorrect.

    MASSIVE EDIT:
They must've changed the pre-order registration page from what you folks read because there is no mention now of sending you a confirmation email that you have uprgraded correctly - only that they will email you when you have been invited into beta. This is officially a non-issue now.
  20. Hard to say. In CoH Beta, the testing population went from about 10-15K to over 50K in 3 weeks at the end, just before having an enviably smooth launch.
  21. The in-game helmets are available via the pre-order. There is no indication thus far that CoV CE has any in-game perks associated with it.
  22. There has been no launch day formally announced. Retailers are speculating on likely dates, so don't expect any logic to it.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Does this happen every time an update is released?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Pretty much. This game has been ruined by devs with people and guilds quitting since early beta. Some days the drama is funny, and sometimes it's just bewildering.

Don't be afraid to use the 'ignore this user' option on people's prfile page that you can access by clicking on their name.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
If I was to preorder copies from all the locations, can I upgrade my account with all the preorder codes like we could upgrade our account with the CoH Collectors set thereby getting ALL the spiffy helmets?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm sure if we could, the company would have promoted that like NCSoft did with Guild Wars. The previous CoH pre-order perks did not combine, so I think it is same to assume that the CoV ones won't either. I'd like to get all the spiffy helmets, too, but oh well. I believe Alexa mentioned that they may provide an 'all-helmets' serial code sometime next year.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
    I would like to know,
are the bonus items included if COV is reserved instore or are they included via pre-order? Are the items avialable to Canadians like myself?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'll try and throw you a bone, Demon_Soldier.

<ul type="square">[*]I know that the bonus disk inside the pre-order box has the pre-order serial code that unlocks the in-game item.[*]I know that the retail box comes the physical doodads, (the Collector's Edition comes with 7 HeroClix figurines). The serial code inside the retail box DOES NOT unlock the in-game item.[*]I know that there is a difference from pre-ordering CoV and merely reserving a copy of CoV at a brick-and-mortar store for Launch Day, so if you pre-order from a physical store, you better walk away with a pre-order disc at this point or else they likely sold you the wrong product. Some retail outlets have not received their pre-order boxes yet, and some hourly wage employees are not intellectually curious, so you might call a store first to make sure they have what you want before you make the trip.[*]I have NO idea about the nuances of getting CoV in Canada.[/list]
