The day Status Crow comes back and the server drops.
Nefarious!
(Infinity is down, for anyone who hasn't noticed.) -
Welcome back, Crow! Did you bring Da Troll with you, by chance?
-
She's had a baby or two and is gone. Maybe free will draw her back, but I'm not sure. I'll ask her husband (Bolt Crank) on the PS3 friend's list if they plan on visiting.
-
So... They're not up yet, are they?
I can log in and accept the new EULA now, which is further than I could get before. I can even get to the server listing, and I can see Exalted, but there is this weird issue where the server scroll bar won't let me scroll down to it. I can grab it and scroll it down, but as soon as I release the button it snaps back up. I got this message on a couple of the usual servers: Account is not allowed on this server. reason: Public access to this server has been disabled.
So. Hopefully that's just a part of the update process... -
What are you going to do today?
I'm working from home, so I've already got the update applied.
Whenever it goes Live, I'm going to do as many of these as I can:
* Create some sort of Time character. I haven't decided if I'm going Corrupter or Controller.
* Go through the new GC-destruction starting experience.
* I think there is a low-level Sewer Trial now? Do that.
* Browse around this Paragon Market thing.
* Figure out what the new stuff is. I'm not clear on where First Ward actually is or what level range it encompasses.
* Get in a new Underground Trial thing. I'll form one up midday if anyone is up for a fair bit of bumbling. -
Not that I remember, Mish. Maybe? At least some of them... Lost and Mags were the only ones PvP-centric, really.
Iron, I think his full global name was greygizm0, but I could be wrong. -
This is where we pine for days long gone, name-dropping players who didn't have the attachment issues to this game that the rest of us do, and thus were able to move on without looking back every other Tuesday.
Also, if they come back, this will serve to make them feel guilty and never consider leaving us again! It's a win-win!
So, who do you miss? Let's get all weepy together I miss:
Tjin (I think that was her name)
Sanctuary Lost (Who am I going to talk to about bad emo music now?!)
KnightShayd
Bolt Crank and Operator47 (they're a package)
Status Crow (Now there was a villain!)
Da Troll
gizmo
PMM (in-game, I could talk to him whenever)
Knox (so angry)
Strongstar (the two of them are/were in my Fantasy league, but still, in-game)
heaven help me, I even miss little 'ol Mags. -
When did CoH Faces get so... overtly creepy?

I just hope I know a day in advance; I'm going to try to fandangle working from home that day... For purely professional reasons, of course.

What is this Task Force?
I've seen only a little about it. IIRC, it starts in Independence Port, has something to do with the Sky Raiders, and it seems to be unpopular.
I looked it up on the Wiki and had no recollection of it. When was it introduced? What are your opinions about it? -
Oh, also, I did meet Hopper, however so briefly.
He has Dallas Mavericks season tickets (lucky mf'er), and I bought a few pairs off of him. We met in a McDonald's parking lot. It was all very seedy. -
Oh, I did go on the Beta for the first time last night. I'd had the bug about the Beta not recognizing my account as active, but it was finally fixed.
Unfortunately, I didn't have a character on there, so I just created one. The new sets weren't available (didn't have me as a Premium user, or whatever, I guess), so I just created something kind of new and tried out the tutorial. I thought it was really cool, but realized I'd rather experience it "for real" when i21 was live, so I logged out. -
... Did I kill it? YAY!
Regardless of any extraneous downtime, I do hope whatever issue is now fixed; Infinity had been bogged down with terrible lag over the past week. -
Quote:Yes, but I don't have the same stock of for sale items on every server, nor the Influence reserves on every server.Trials (which you mention later) I get - but you *are* aware the market is global? Just as a side note? I know I run into people *still* that don't. No, it wouldn't have helped with your standing bids. Just pointing out there's not an "Infinity" market, etc. in case that's why you're phrasing it that way.
I was asking about your particular gaming because I was curious if you took your own advice. Since you have a 50 on another server (unless Victory is your home; maybe I misunderstood), it seems to me like it's typical for you to play on multiple servers. For those of us who don't, it's a bit of a drastic change, wouldn't you agree?
Quote:There was a thread in Announcements within minutes of the server failure.
I don't think we deserve any compensation, though it's not unprecedented as far as I remember. I was just one of the unfortunate few who had a lot of time available to play yesterday, and was unable to do so. -
I'll jump back in.
I was working from home yesterday. I took a break and popped onto CoH to check the markets around 9 a.m., "Oh no, server downtime, I forgot. Oh well."
I tried again at lunch around Noon (Central, btw), and they had extended maintenance. "Shucks," I said.
I worked until I was done with the day at 4 p.m. I tried to log on... Still down. "Well, maybe the forums have some answers... Nothing in Announcements, let me check this giant thread in General, maybe it has a Dev response... Nope, just a lot of arguing."
So I went about my evening. I had dinner with my wife, I watched some Futurama, I went to the gym... Then I try to log back onto Infinity at around 8 p.m. STILL. DOWN.
I see the argument about "just play an alt." When I first started playing the game back at launch, I didn't have a home server and I had a lot of ideas for character creation, so I just made 'em wherever the hell seemed to fit (Magic characters on Infinity, particularly heroic characters on Virtue or Freedom or Justice, strong-sounding Tankers on Protector, etc.). But, eventually I found a good group of people on Infinity and it became my home server, where I could ask for some help and have someone willing to respond, where it was relatively easy to form my own teams for complex missions, and where I knew the proclivities of the player base.
So, I took your suggestion and I logged into a character on Virtue, one that was made, oh, 2100 days ago. I turned my LFT flag on and ran a solo mission... I stood around in Broadcast talking about how odd it was that some servers were still down. I started getting lag, and no one had invited me to a team, so I quit to try my home server again. No luck.
I think there is a disconnect here in communication. In MMOs, most people don't play the entire MMO. For instance, I don't play City of Heroes/Villains/Praetorians ALL THE TIME ALWAYS. Currently, I play City of Heroes, on the Infinity server, as a level 50 Blaster named Mercury Avenger. I have the ability to do otherwise, but should it be on me to have to do so if that's not what is particularly enjoyable for me?
No. Should I complain? Sure, why not. These are forums, that's the majority of communication that happens here.
Why should Clouded, Samuel Tow, et al, be lambasted for speaking their minds? This particular instance devolved into both sides slinging things they shouldn't, but originally, I think the defense of the downtime was really short-sighted.
I would be interested in knowing what character(s) and what server(s) Hyperstrike, Techbot Alpha, Memphis Bill, et al, played last night. My inclination would be to believe that they weren't in the pool of those who were forced to look elsewhere for entertainment, so what does it matter to them? How many level 4's were you guys playing last night?
As for me, my intention was to check the Market on Infinity during the day. I couldn't do that then. Later, my intention became to run some trials. On Infinity, they don't really get going until 6 p.m., and they run pretty late, but I have work to sleep and prepare for, so I certainly don't stick around for long.
So, Mercury Avenger, on the Infinity server, wanted to run a BAF, Lambda, and Keyes (if anyone was bold enough to organize it), between 7 and 10 p.m. I couldn't do that, so I just went to sleep.
So, that's a window of 13 hours in which I tried to login to City of Heroes and was unsuccesful. Yay Paragon Studios. You win? -
Hey Darque, I wondered if that was you. I did the /getglobalname stalking of Toxic Haven, saw it was wyld and assumed as much. Hi!
-
Any update?
I tried, off and on, to get on Infinity from about 9 a.m. (Central) to 10 p.m. Central. I got on long enough to do one mission before I was kicked off. Pretty ridiculous. -
So is it just me or is everything back down again?
I was hoping I would get the tiniest moment of game time in today, but that doesn't look to be in the cards.
ETA: Can't get into Infinity or Freedom. Can get on Virtue. -
Also, D.O., I think you're kind of reading into T.G. a bit. You mentioned your own malaise recently; maybe you're seeing in her what you're experiencing yourself?
Now, I read it when it released, so it's been awhile, but IIRC, I got a more hopeful conclusion to the book. She meets people like her, which helps to establish that her chosen role in life isn't completely absurd. Her success saving the people in the burning house validates her midnight patrols for the past few years (because isn't saving one life worth it to a hero?).
I don't know. The only thing I know is that Hickman wrote a good comic that can be something different to everyone. -
Yaaaaayyyyyy T.G. Yaaaaaayyyyyyy Hickman!
Is that Top Cow contest concluded yet? -
Sorry I didn't make it. Completely slipped my mind, and I didn't up going to sleep shortly thereafter.

I've been gone for a while, apologies for what I'm sure is a question that has been asked a multitude of times, BUT...
What are the power choices from 41-49 looking like these days? What Epic pools do Brutes have access to? Those of the Tanker, or Scrapper?
I'm in the process of getting my Stone Melee/Willpower Brute updated (he still has non-Inherent Fitness), and I was wondering what I should do for those power choices. Currently he doesn't have any APP or PPP, opting instead for Tough/Weave, but he'll be gaining three additional power choices, so I might as well, right?
And if I am to go with an APP, at what point can I respec and select from the APPs? Do I have to go full Hero, or can I be in the median Rogue stage?
Thanks.
