Thanks! I shall call your advice awesome.

*giggle* Great, thank you.

I've been hankering to fool with weapon customization, and since I find tankers more to my taste than scrappers....
Axes include some neat models, I see. What's good with /axe? Shield seems an obvious option. Would invulnerability work with it?
Please propagandize, and if you have suggestions on leveling builds, I'll welcome those too. -
Quote:Oh, yeah, I know what I can make popping in on Virtue in busy evening hours and just doing a task force or two, or anything like that. Thank you for the spec!Technically, I took a ten million influence gift from one of my other characters when starting. But I had more than ten million influence from maybe the mid 20s on, so this is basically affordable for what you'll likely earn while you level. Since you can earn millions per hour on a level 50, saving up while leveling isn't necessary - you're better off blowing it on stuff you can use.

I just noticed Fury Flechette's thread with electric/shield and fire/shield builds, so I'll confine myself to asking about cheap broadsword/shield builds here.
-
This is partly me just curious, and partly me fishing for some Mids or other help.
I see a lot of talk about the potential of shields secondary, and I'm curious about trying a fire/shield scrapper sometime. But I am not rich, to put it mildly, and in any event I like taking my time to explore stuff as I level up, since I'm still new to the game.
What does a leveling build for fire/shield (or broadsword/shield, the other I've thought of most often because I like a bunch of the unlockable options) look like - something that can work with SOs? Or is it just the case that shields aren't really to mess with until I have more influence up front? -
Fantastic, thank you! I don't quite know what I want to fool with next in a tanker, but this looks like it'd be fun to play.
ETA: Amusingly enough...I haven't mentioned this anywhere, but I'd been actually thinking this morning "It's been a while since I took super jumping out for a spin. What would be good powers with that?" -
I'd be definitely interested in an SO-oriented invulnerability/energy build, actually. Thank you very much in advance.

Up until now I've had no problem running CoH and having it sit idle in the background while I do other things in the foreground on my Mac Mini (10.6.3, 4 Gb of RAM, 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo). I knew Ultra Mode wouldn't be for me - this is a unit with the embedded graphics co-processor - but I saw I could fool around with a few options anyway, and did...
And got lag on everything else running. Really bad lag. Typed input appeared at , sometimes, a character per second or less, and I type around 100 words per minute. Thank goodness for generous type-ahead buffers. But even so, it was awful.
So I undid all the changes and restarted, but the problem persists with exactly the graphic settings that worked fine yesterday. The game itself remains very playable and comfortable, but everything else suffers horribly.
Anyone else run into this, and/or have suggestions? -

This is a request not for numbers so much as for some narrative.
I've been poking at Kheldians lately. My tri-form Peacebringer is a delight, and reminds me in good ways of leveling up a druid in World of Warcraft - the nova and dwarf toolkits aren't huge, but they're really solid. I absolutely loved being able to jump in at the end of a Synapse task force and tank the last three missions, after connection troubles got our tank. My tri-form Warshade isn't to 20 yet, but I can already love her nova performance, and stealthing Midnighter arc missions was pure love for me, and I'm looking forward to her dwarf form as well.
But I like my generalists/multi-purpose characters, and I also like my specialists! So, what's interesting and cool about human-form-only Kheldians? I've looked at threads about them, but since I don't "read" Mids stats well, I don't have any clear idea of what it is people are actually doing with them. Can they focus on ranged attacks and be useful? (I'm better at ranged, and have more fun at it, overall.) Do they solo effectively, or do they help out with teams more? (I've been hankering after someone to help stealth/speed missions, but I found out about that feature already.) What's neat about them, and what's to be cautious with? -
I'm curious if this works the other way - would I end up filled with regret later if I just did human/nova?
-
I've been dabbling on and off all night (joys of insomnia). Archery/energy is a lot of fun, but energy/energy is a special craziness.
-
Thanks, I was about to follow up with a question about secondaries.
-
Okay, that's a solid consensus, it looks like: /energy secondary makes whatever primary do its ranged thing better?
-
I do a mix of solo and group play - more solo than team at the moment - and I'm happiest when I can stay back, out of melee range, and unload at things that can't poke me. What do y'all suggest for power combos that do nice fun blaster damage while keeping me out of melee as much as possible?
(I realize that the blueside answer for most thoroughly ranged play is "controllers". They're fun too. But I'm curious about ranged blasting at the moment.) -
44 here, and one of the things I love is hearing the routine of life mixed in with play - parents tending kids, grown adults dealing with parents and other relatives, the whole deal. Very enjoyable.
-
Mental manipulation for me. It won't set the world on fire in terms of performance but it's very comfortable for me in play.
-
Perpetually allocating a big chunk of mental and emotional energy for defensive stuff is a waste, in terms of the information exchanges possible between (in this case) folks gathered to play a game, and also morally stupid, in that it rewards bullying rather than make it seem like something to be ashamed of. The original poster has it right in this case - best not to do it in the first place, but next best to go "oops" and make an effort to express some regrets, and hopefully not do it again quite that way soon.
-
Is there a way to do this in the Mac client? To, for instance, copy a URL? I couldn't find a way, but am prepared to believe I'm missing it.

I've been enjoying learning the ropes of villain-side with soloing characters, but I'm often happiest with more supporting roles - say, a nice strong corruptor or dominator. But dang is it hard to find any info on villain groups actually recruiting, as opposed to ones that were a year ago, or two, or three....
Are there any villain groups that would like to recruit a sociopathic accidental magician? I'm really craving some good mature roleplaying, to work around with the fun possibilities of unleashed power without responsibility. -
Quote:That's just what I was hoping to hear - the good part.I have a MA/SD at 37 or so and the addition of Shield Charge is worth the price of admission alone. A second AoE and a Superior damage attack to boot. It's just not nearly as easy to soft cap as MA/SR
I can deal with the rest. Thank you!
