Quote:Completely disagree on the NWN front, in terms of campaign they made a much better job of it than Bioware did with the first, I much prefer the second in terms of both campaign and the mechanics they used.Oh, I don't know Obsidian managed a pretty good job at it. But they bungled Kotor as well. So I guess they have a special gift.
Of course they did do their usual trick of releasing beta software but once patched up it got better (and The Witcher did exactly the same thing, the initial release of that was appallingly buggy and chuggy using the same(ish) engine).
Agreed on KOTOR 2 though. That was really disappointing.
One thing I do love about Obsidian is that they like party based RPGs and their sequels are often more party friendly than the original.

Quote:As Bass says, holy crap! Excellent look, especially with the colours you've used. For a bit of an experiment, I tried to see what the cool new bio plasma aura would do when put on top of fire shields. So I have a greenish aura, a blueish fire shield, a purpleish plasma shield... it combines nicely to give me that "strange radioactive shimmer" my meteor-infected scrapper, Meteor-Strike, was looking for. And yes, that and the Omega pieces finally gave me the excuse to try out one of those spine/fire scrappers I keep hearing so much about...
Quote:I had made an Ent-ish character just a week or so ago...
And finished him with the Cape and Aura over the weekend.
May re-roll as a Plant/Thorns Dominator and go Blueside, as I messed around with some power customization and was liking the results.
Loving all the piccies here in fact and the ideas used. -
Quote:Absolutely. Dark Blast has been crying out for a bit of Castle tweaking ever since the changes to Dark Melee. This is just as relevant and maybe more so to Corruptors but does anyone else think that Dark Blast life drain should get a damage boost like dark melée siphon life did? The change to Siphon life basically changed DM from a so so set to one of the most popular and made it a lot more playable.
I think the same thing will happen if the Devs made a similar change to drain life. In it's present state, unless your other set does not have a self heal like storm, any other set like dark it's basically redundant and skipped. If they upped the damage then I think it will be more widely taken and make the set overall more useable. To be honest dark blast could do with a 3rd high damaging blast to have a viable single target attach chain to make it inline with other blast sets.
What does everyone else think?
Wouldn't even need too much, make this change and maybe make the PvE version of Torrent do knockdown instead of knockback and you're done. -
Quote:That's been the case for years though, they've never been any good at that e-commerce stuff and their web platforms have always been weak.Well I'm less bothered about the referral credit but let's face it the whole system is borked and it becomes pointlessly over complex.
My friend is still ticked off because she's had so many problems buying 2 items, the game itself and then a booster.
I notice that the thread by The Ocho is like six weeks old now... and surely accepting money should be a business' first priority, so that's an exceedingly poor show that it's not been fixed. It tells me that NCSoft generally have a huge problem with their web process and procedure. -

This is true. The implementation in question is more likely designed to provide (a) An easier way for new, inexperienced people to get into the game and (b) a carrot for more experienced F2Pers to upgrade and remove that barrier and build any way they like.

Quote:I'm actually ambivalent about it. So many of the options suffer from being monochrome (all of the auras, obviously, but also the Impervium cape) and those wrenches are even worse looking than I had first thought, which is a shame because it's a great looking cape. You're right. So who else is happy with the new Booster pack?
Do like some of the options but a lot of them are "Yeah, that's nice, but if only they had tweaked it to work like this instead". -
Quote:You're aware that Defense Buffs have a ED maximum of about 60% compared to the normal 100% for things like Ranged Damage? So very terribly wrong. I think.
I've reviewed all the builds on here, and yes, I am aiming for a farmer simply because I want to be in the IN crowd. I'm cool like that.
Let me start by stating, I am the world's WORST with mids. I have tried and tried and simply cannot put it together like some of you and I am in tremendous awe of any of you who do so.
Having said that, it looks like all the S/L capping is coming from a combination of Tough, Weave, Stone Armor. In most of those cases they are built with the same IOs. Red Fortune and Reactive Armor. Having followed those guides and thinking "Ah hah, I am cool now!" I have gotten my face literally melted.
So I opened up Combat Attributes in game, and I find it says I have 25%...
This struck me as odd because I was under the impression that these would net me around 35-45%. I have to get my son up, so I haven't got the time to set it up in Mids for you, but I'd be happy to later if needed. But I have 5 slots in each using those two IO sets.
What did I miss? Can anyone tell me? Is it just the way it displays in game?
*Edit - correction it is listing as 10%.
So if you've a power which grants 20% defense and you slot it with 3 Defense SOs you'll be at around 32%, not 40% like you might be expecting, they grant 20% of the defense figure per SO rather than 33%. -
Quote:just because i go to farms dose not mean i can't play. who ever heared a level 1 beat a red name? (not in team but soloing it Red name Vs. level 1 char) as level 38 i use a tornado skill to hurl a red name into the corner and use my pets to attack tell me that isnt skills or how to play thats better than dying now is it? Better than being sent to a hospital or have no revives on you. i picked tornado for the heck of it but when i came and hit the idea to how to kill a red name i used that skill and my pets to do the attacks wile i have endurance to keep the tornado on. And fly, now fly is vary useful in mercy island to get over those giant walls now is it? better than running far out to find a door huh? and the missions you go to is so close to the walls its not easy going to point a to point b by foot. Thats when fly comes in to help you.
What the hell does all this even mean, and what does it have to do with respecs?
It's like some sort of stream of conscious gibberish. Fly for Mercy Isle? Endurance needed to keep Tornado running? Killing "red names"?
I'm beyond perplexed and now wallowing in a pool of complete incomprehension. -
Well, for the next 2-3 weeks anyway. After that you'll have 2 more TFs and the Alpha slot stuff to play with

Quote:Claws also gets the best benefit from the Gaussian "Chance for Build-up" in Follow-up since FU gets spammed so much (especially compared to other +ToHit/Damage powers).I advocate Dev in blaster attacks, in no small part because Dev has fantastic set bonuses for blasters. But Decimation is really good for people who only have one ranged attack that recharges fast, and wants to be spammed. I believe both Claws and Kinetic Melee fit this bill.
Only drawback I see with Decimation in Kinetic Melees Focused Blast is that it has nearly twice the animation time as Claws Focus, so is less fluid to fit into an attack chain. Focus in Claws is so quick and does such nice damage that it's basically a ranged attack you use regardless of range.
Villain meleers might be better off sticking it into the Patron single target blasts instead, especially if they are using Mu or Soul.
For a Fort Dominate seems an excellent place to put both the Decimation and either Devastation or Lockdown in (or maybe stick Lockdown in Dominate and stick the Dev proc into either Subdue, TK Blast or Gloom). I'm going PROC shopping later methinks (or get one of my Hero types to spend some A-Merits and Gleemail the proceeds).
Psi Tornado is an excellent place for the Forced Feedback PROC as well.
Devastation would also seem to be an excellent option for Jolting Chains. -
Quote:Yes, that is how Auctions typically work.well i can't pay 300million thats to much. they can eather take my 100,000 infamy and give me the item or they can forget it and not have what i am bidding for.
So run a Respec Trial instead surely? Am I missing something here? Is there some reason you cannot run the respec trial and save yourself 300 million? (or wait 2 levels / 2-3 weeks and run the Patron Arc / wait for i19) -
Quote:You're aware that for the last 3 months the Hero and Villain markets are one and the same, right? That 300 million is the same both sides. If its the respec recipe thats in black market ppl are bidding those in millions i cant buy a respec in millions it wont happen in 100 years. Where do i do the three respec trials? if i cant bit 300million over a respec recipe.
If you're level 38 then you can earn one at 40 simply by running the Patron Pool arc instead.
Or wait 2-3 weeks for i19 to come out, there will be freespecs coming with that due to the Fitness Pool changes. -
Erm, what?
Villains have MORE options for getting a respec.
1) Do the Trial. Terra Volta in the case of heroes, the Thorn Tree for villains
2) Buy a Respec IO from the markets
3) Buy a Respec from the NCSoft Store for Real monies
4) Wait for i19 and use that.
Villains also have :
5) Do the Patron Arc of any Patron from 40 onwards. You can only do this once and it unlocks the Patron Pool Powers and grants you a respec.
In some cases once you have the respec you need to go to a a contact to initiate it, Jack Wolfe in Galaxy for one, Arbitar Lupin in Nerva, beside the level up Arbitar), or Arbiter Sawyer in Port Oakes.

Quote:This is my theory as well.My theory is that it revolves around praetoria. They introduce this great new area that only includes the levels people power through because they are so unpleasant. With inherent fitness, you can stop and smell the roses in praetoria.
However I do think they missed the boat in a major way by not introducing the change with i18. It's not like the pre-20 Endurance Grind wasn't known about until Praetoria was introduced. -
If your credit card is refusing to process try using the Paypal method, their system actually works.

I dislike you all.
At least for the next few hours until I can get home and play with them.
Edit : Just tried to buy it and got
"We're sorry, but we are unable to accept your order at this time. Please try again later or tomorrow. If you continue to have problems, you may wish to visit one of our retail partners."
Do NCSoft dislike money or something? -
Quote:Bugs are insects. Specifically they are things like aphids and shield bugs, winged insects with piercing mouthpieces which they tend to use to pierce plant stems to feed. No, spiders are not bugs, they are insects.
Or is that the other way around?
Insects and Spiders (along with things like crabs and shrimp) are all arthropods, that is invertebrates with a hard exoskeleton but insects and spiders aren't any more closely related than that. -
Quote:Yeah, my wife mentioned this idea to me last week actually. I don't get it really. I'd just knock the clocks forward one final time next March and then never move them again.

Ye gods no. The fact we've 6 months of nice long bright evenings is one of the few good things about living over here.
Even with a 3 month old who doesn't seem to want to understand the concept, no matter how often I explain it to him, and has been insisting on waking at 6am this week I'd hate to lose my BST (I'd be happy to move to BST all year round though). -
Quote:I wouldn't expect it to be standardized (for good reason) but I would expect it to be fairly non-existent in regions closer to the equator. It's actually a lot more silly than that. Check this map out to see how semi-random it seems to be.
You'd think something like this would be standardized around the world. Well, you'd be wrong.
So why the heck do Mexico and Egypt do it? -
Quote:No, UTC stays the same whereever you are (UTC is basically GMT with a less imperialist name*scratches head as to the logic in this*
So one half of the earth stays the same while the other half "stops" for an hour?). However the locally adjusted time may differ in whatever way the inhabitants have decided upon.
It was 1:00am local time twice last Sunday morning here. But UTC/GMT didn't budge (the first time it was 1am local time it was actually midnight UTC). -

I'm glad those Antimatter Clockwork didn't end up getting their wooded area buildings. By the look of them they'd be getting constantly attacked by Ewoks.
