  2. Gotta agree with this. My level 21 Warshade was teamed with a Stormie recently and it was amazing. I alternated between being a Dwarf with a number of capped resistances and a Mired-up Nova who was two shotting spawns thanks to Miring myself and then firing into Freezing Rain. Talk about a power multiplier.

I think Freezing Rain has got to be up there as one of my favourite powers in the entire game.

My first character was an Illusion/Stormie and I'll never forget what someone said to them some time in the mid-30s about 4 years ago.

"Wow!! Storm is a real box of tricks!!"

Storm in a small room is one of the funniest things in the entire game IMO.

    I agree with the lizard.

The Powers team has been tied up on this Incarnate stuff long enough, set them free so we can have more proliferation.

I've never seen anyone doing these event. Ever. This probably explains why.

  8. Well I managed to get in on attempt 4, after trying 4 different variants of the "Girlfriends name" question and hoping I actually added it correctly 6 years ago.

So immediately the first thing I decided to do was get the system to email me those Serial Codes which aren't already in my Email logs (ie all the retail boxes) so if/when I do lock my system I can at least jump through the hoops like a good little doggie and retrieve my account.

Oh look. You can't do that!

As I've said before. This is an inane system dreamt up by someone with little idea of actually how to go about implementing a system like this and ensuring the transition doesn't cause undue hardship on the paying customer or lock valid accounts simply because someone can't remember the questions they filled in 6 years ago.

Hopefully the aforementioned designer(s) will be read the riot act, as this is no way to go about implementing and introducing such a system to a long standing customer base (and this is said as someone who designs E-commerce systems for a living).
  9. As a former eu player now playing us side which support am I meant to contact? And am i expect to provide every serial code across the board? Actually given that it was 5 years and 2 houses ago I don't even have my Eu serial codes.

    This is inane.

Edit : And yes. I'm locked out, because apparently I don't know my girlfriends name. Way to go NcSoft web team. Just when I thought you couldn't get more useless.

Idiotic. You can't decide 5 years after the event that certain personal questions which had no meaning are suddenly critical to access your account.

I have to repeat this for emphasis. This was a poorly thought out and quickly implemented idea that should NEVER have happened in the first place.
Have to agree here. This is inane.

Does anyone consider "what is your mothers maiden name" a secure question in this century?

My Ip address tends to change every few weeks, I've no control over that. 3G devices (like say iPads and laptops connected to 3G dongles) tend to give different addresses per connection.

^This. A lot of placables use a pseudopet with a PBAOE Toggle to fire off their attacks. In those cases the PROC will check every against everything in the AOE 10 seconds. Things like Rains, Bonfire and some mez patches do this.

However with some placeables the pseudopet fires off attacks instead and Lightning Storm falls into this bracket (along with things like Volcanic Gasses, although that's even slightly more complex as the Gas patch spawns Vent pets which fire off single target hold attacks every 6 seconds or so). This means it fires off with every attack.

Then you've got things like Spectral Terror which has a PBAOE fear and a direct fear attack. So it's got a chance of firing off with every single fear *and* every 10 seconds from the pbaoe.

So really it's down to how the power is coded and whether the effect is a PBAOE Aura type toggle or if the pseudopet involved is attacking directly.

I may try an Incarnate Trial or two, but if it's as laggy as I suspect it will be, it's not the sort of thing I'll be doing often. I'm also not a big fan of TF's so while I may try the new 20-40 TF's, again it won't be something I'll be doing often.

How exactly do you know the NDA has hidden nothing? I mean whatever required a physical NDA may not be part of this overview for some reason.

I also completely disagree with the idea that NCSoft / Paragon Studios would see a Server List merge as being them admitting the game is dying. More likely is that the infrastructure challenges facing such a merge are the sort of challenge which the Powers That Be haven't given the green light to solving.

It is. The main issue is the fact that the Global Names system is split into two regions.

Frankly this raid stuff, I think is massively detrimental to the game, why are the devs trying to be more like the market leader, instead of focusing on what made the game unique on the market?

I mean the AE, pretty cool but it has been done before, and the same effect can be had in 'market leader' with the right add ons.

The character creator? If they are going to slow down on adding options to it, or making all the options paid for, then the 'former studio' of this game will catch up with their options, and slightly better layering options.

The league finder? 'Market Leader' did it over a year ago, the latest competing game launched with one in place.

Multi-party fights? Been done since the beginning of the genre.

    ------------------------------------

This game used to be very alt friendly, but now it is becoming like a generic 'fantasy' MMORPG, choose one toon as your main and do your dailies and weeklies to gear up, don't bother rolling an alt because you'll progress at half speed.
Actually a lot of this stuff reminds of the MMO based on the IP which the market leader originally ripped off back in the 90s, as do things like the in-zone Praetorian events.

The problem with that approach was that in that other game a lot of those Events were basically always empty and unused, especially in lower population servers.

Just like the Praetorian Zone Events are now basically (about 3 months after they came out).

That's possibly the biggest challenge for these Trials, for every Rikti Mothership there's a Cathedral of Pain.

^This basically. The exact same principle works for Hami-Os (you can get them relatively quickly running the relevant TFs / Raid or you can grind Inf and/or a-merits to earn them), PvP IOs, Rare Recipes in general and a lot of the temp powers like Shivians and Nukes.

Hell some of the badges and accolades you have to do specific arcs and take down specific EB level nasties to get them.

Your appraisal of endurance cost is probably close to what I'd see, as you didn't list Mud Pots but did list Tough and Weave, which should come up to close the same number.

Interestingly, though, I think the problem isn't JUST Stone Armour, but also Stone Melee, because its running cost is quite very high. It's a set with relatively strong, expensive attacks which nevertheless have pretty fast animations, adding up to a LOT of cost.

I finally got my *** in gear and finished my interactive spreadsheet, so I've gotten some more interesting numbers.

I went with Common Inventions (the ones you can buy from the University racks), as well as Stamina, Superior Conditioning and Physical Perfection, and with all Stone Armour toggles and a gull Stone Melee attack chain, that still wasn't acceptable unless I multi-slotted powers for endurance, which I don't want to do for lack of slots. However, with even just the Common Alpha Cardiac, that was turned around into actually a pretty decent cost, I'm surprised to say. Better than my benchmark by a fair bit.

So I guess the solution is to dump all of my resources into endurance management and overengineer this guy, at the cost of some raw performance and conceptual fun. Oh, well. You can't always get what you want, but if you try hard enough, you might just get what you need.
How exactly have you slotted your Stone Melee attacks?

I've found in the past if you're sticking to SO / Common IOs then you're better off skimping on Damage slotting in favour End Reduction and letting Fury pick up the slack. Getting Acc, End Reduction, Recharge and then Damage was the best way I found of slotting them. This also means Build Up becomes more important to you as well in terms of adding spike damage every 45 seconds.

So 4 slots I'd personally do one of each rather than 1 acc, 3 damage. That helps to mitegate Stone Melees two main problems, huge End costs and a slow attack chain (Air Superiority helps with the chain too though).

Of course with my Stone/Fire I ended up going with the most efficient slotting path, but you're allergic to that so I'm not going to even mention it (oh wait..)

Confirmation for one, and a clear tease that the other will work outside the trials at some point.

This would be brilliant, if it's in i20. If not then we're back to jam tomorrow, which annoys me. I don't particularly want to wait until i21 in August/September to get it.

The Looking For Group / Turnstile system is only working for the two Incarnate Trials (BAF & Lambda) of Issue 20. Individuals as well as teams or whole Leagues can enter the turnstile to join an iTrial. When they finally do enter the iTrial, they will be grouped together in one League.

Leagues can be formed anytime, even outside an iTrial. Leagues will work for Cathedral of Pain Trials or Lord Winter's Realm in an instanced mission; or out in open zones for the Hami Raid; Mothership Raid; PvP Zone battles, costume contests, zone invasions (Rikti, Zombies, deadly apocalypse); or zone events (Steel fires, Sky trolls, new Praetorian zone events).
It's the turnstyle system I want, and have wanted for a long, long time.
