    Vigilance is fab

Yeah I really like the idea of Blast secondary effects getting stronger somehow. Not sure about tying it to the amount of Blasting you are doing but not sure what else should trigger it.

That said none of the Heroes have the bar style inherents. Maybe it could be a fury-like bar but what would fuel it. Not sure about Blasts, its a bit samey as a Dominator or Brute. Whenever your team get hit? Bit unfair to Dark & Forcefield. Whenever you heal? Poor TA.

I suppose whenever you blast or when the team health drops is fair. Sorta makes sense, when the health drops your blast secondary effects & debuffs get stronger.

Then the temptation is to blast with your stronger debuffs rather than heal / defend though.

I just read the post u made on another thread, and wanted to ask if it was bad, so thanx for reading my mind

    [/ QUOTE ]
I've been [censored] about it all day

I'd take it anyway but beware, its now basically useless on outside missions where the spawns are closely packed.

Real pain. I was having so much fun doing PAs, Snowstorm, Freezing Rain and then TPing to the other side of them with Hurricane on and dropping Thunderstorm, catching them in between and pushing them back onto the FR & Spectral Terror.

Did it during the week, hidden spawn around the corner gets some of the pushback thanks to the extra range. I get lots of aggro & die because I'm too slow (or lag hits) to get Hibernate up.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
... question about the use of storm with illusion - is hurricane worth getting for a purely PvE troller? The resaon Im asking is that the combination of freezing rain and flash / clap holds pretty much everyone...

    Also, Little Timmy?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Hurricane is wonky at the moment, the pushback is way too much. i7 they seem to have doubled it without warning. So rather than "brush the edges of it against mobs to debuff" its now "mobs miles away get pushed back, aggroed and attack with no accuracy debuff". Squish.

It will be worth it if they reverse this. Otherwise its too likely to get you killed or annoy the rest of your team.

And yes, little Timmy is a genius name

I love Empathys. No more End troubles and I can go semi-nuts and wade in without worrying too much.

[/ QUOTE ]Funny, that's the reason I love kins

    [/ QUOTE ]
Me too. But we're trying to cheer up the Empaths here MaX.

Actually the reason is the heals. With a Kinetic I've to make sure I'm close to the main melee or *shudder* heal myself. With an empath I can stand whereever and let them worry about keeping my sorry [censored] standing.

    Vigilance is fab

Well I don't like the "reward bad things happening" aspect of Vigiance or Defiance.

Anyone got an idea for a more neutral or positive version. Could defenders be allowed to get "mini-criticals" on heals or buffs / debuffs, that occasionally you get a more powerful effect. The only issue with that is someone spamming Speed Boost to get a Critical. Make it so that the repeat castings only reset the expiration, not the magnitude and that cancels that.

Could be playing into the AOE debuff sets though. Maybe AOE debuffs should get less value from the "crit"

Sounds flexible to me Unthing, without having to rewrite massive chunks of code for dynamic buff/debuff strengths too.

    Make it so!

    [ QUOTE ]
I think its the worst inherent power ever. I never used to run out of end and i still dont.

Strikes me a better one would have been to increase the recharge speed of a defenders powers as his teammates health falls.

Froma n empath point of view, i never had anyone die cus i ran out of end. I have had people die because i cant spam powers fast enough tho...

    [/ QUOTE ]
From an Empath PoV the recharge may be important. But for a Kinetics who is probably already hypercharged? Or a FF who has already put the shields up?

Not easy this designing inherents lark is it
  9. Carnifax

    Vigilance is fab

Couldn't de/buffs be calculated dynamically on some sort of "tick" basis?

So rather than just calculate it and apply, calculate the it except for the AT mod and every second or so recheck and modify the values. Ingame it sort of makes sense. We've all seen Forcefield girl throw extra will into strengthening someones shield.

Could be a massive amount of work though. May not be, depending on how it currently works.
  10. Carnifax

    Vigilance is fab

I agree it does sort of fit with the comic book image of Jean Grey giving the last ounce of will to save the day. Or the girl in the Incredibles throwing up a shield just in time. But in-game isn't quite the same.

Basically I ignore it anyway and just assume I have no inherent It'd be nice to have something a little more obvious maybe. Not too sure what though

    Vigilance is fab

Is it good to be "rewarding" you for doing badly though. And is the "reward" worth it?

I know its not as simple as that but it is quite a negative thing compared to every other inherent bar the Blaster one. Most others are either always on or reward you for being good at your job, Domination, Containment, Scourge, Fury are "your doing well" rewards. Criticals, Punch-voke, Suprmancy are more neutral but help you you your job better all the time. Only the poor Defenders & Blasters get rewarded for getting the stuffing kicked out of them or their mates. A semi-decent team and you won't even evoke them.
  12. Carnifax

    Vigilance is fab

Pah. What is the Vigilence you speak of. Soloth has always got the blue stuff dripping from his ears anyway.

    If he had ears.

Personally I think its an unbalanced power. For Kinetics its completely useless as with poor Sol. Empaths aren't usually overladen with End issues either. And FF are "precombat" orientated so End may not be an issue here either.

Why doesn't it alter the defender index value for heals, buff & debuffs? Thats the AT multiplier defenders have for heals & buffs / debuffs.

Also needs other members of the team to remember that healers can't heal through walls and around corners and can't be in more than one place at a time. Doing damage is a team effort, so is staying alive

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Tell me about it

I'm sick and tired of telling people not to run away when an enemy so much as looks at them funny. Trying to actually get them to run closer to an enemy (I'm a kinetics defender) is simply futile

I can't count the number of times an energy blaster has cried at me for not healing him, even after I explain about how his really pretty knockback powers are knocking enemies out of healing range...

    [/ QUOTE ]
Even worse. A crazed Storm Defender who opened combat with Tornado whilst fighting +3s with no tank on the team. And would then run away when his health dropped.

My Kinetics lasted 1 mish, only because I hate running out on missions if I can help it.

I love Empathys. No more End troubles and I can go semi-nuts and wade in without worrying too much.
  14. Nice. Well written and a decent lenght. Didn't feel rushed or anything.

And a "To be Continued too." Excellent. Go the green eyed rad-bots.
  15. Aaah. Pink bulges everywhere. My eyes. My eyes.

I did have the pleasure of teaming with a great old-time Deviant Pinky, Buff Love, yesterday.

So I'm pink innoculated at the mo
  16. I'm a recent convert to the Church of Deceive. Its a great power. Cast on Carni illusionist. Laugh as she Flashes her mates (oo-er). Cast on a Tsoo Sorcerer. He heals you. Double-cast on a scary looking boss (Caliban for example). He starts squishing his mate, you can wade in with his alpha suddenly on your side.

Also Spectral Terror is a must have in my opinion. It ends up being your main control power.

    Theres a lovely build here

My must haves are Blind, 5/6 slotted ASAP, Spectral Wounds, Decieve, only needs a few accuracy really, PAs, 6 slotted (1 acc, 2 damage, 3 recharge is good), Spectral Terror (only needs a few slots, Fear Duration & accuracy) & Phant (5 slots, 3 dmg, 2 acc).

For Storm my favs are Snow Storm (2/3 slows) closest thing you have to an immobilse and superb vs flying enemies like the Croatoa Witches. Freezing Rain (2/3 recharge, 2 defense debuff). Steamy Mist (1 end red, 2/3 Dmg Resist). Hurricane, although its pretty severly borked at the moment, the pushback is way too far, it was doubled in i7 without explaination (3 acc debuff, 2/3 End Red). Thunderstorm (3 damage, maybe a range. End Red)

Travel power is up to you but yes Hasten helps & SS & Steamy Mist do stack into a decent invis.

    First Epic Power

Sorry. Area of Effect. Damage over time.

Like the way Rain of Fire does "ticks" of low damage rapidly over a wide area for about 10 seconds.

The problem is keeping enemies in it as they'll try to scatter out.

Great, thats exactly what i needed thank you. I do like the sound of the ice invulnerability thing i must admit.

The fire ball does look fun but must remember im an "assisting hero" not a fighting hero.. so should protect myself.

The only thing abuot ice epic, is it too similar to my storm power set anyway? i.e. ice storm?

    Thanks

    Vicki

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well I think Ice Storm is AOE DoT, like Rain of Fire really, with a slow aspect too. Snow Storm should stop the scattering & Freezing rain will trip them up and add to the damage indirectly via the Resist debuff.

    Thats the plan anyway.
  19. I thought it was great in the first few weeks. The atmosphere was fantastic & the fights were fun. Nicely orgainised and no-one took it too seriously. all good clean fun.

But the World Cup, DayStar and i7 had a huge impact. I've missed the last two matches despite being one of two or three people in arena last Thurs & the Thurs before. It was just bad timing in both cases really.

I'd say don't have it when something big is on & have it in the Autumn or the winter so hols & daystar don't have an impact. And avoid any time around a new Issue release as its almost guarenteed to bork a lot of people for a month or so afterwards.

Have a "Fight Night" set and stick to, post the matches well in advance (a couple of days).

For Subs if someone doesn't show they should lose a life automatically. If someone arranges with the team that they won't be there and is able to provide their own agreed sub the subs result is what the missing person gets.

A Round Robin format might be fun too. Not sure if the logistics would work but a few section mini-leagues where you fight with and against everyone in your minigroup with 3 pts per win might be an interesting alternative format as people don't get eliminated in dribs and drabs.

But my critisims aside I want to repeat I've loved the matches I've made it too and am sorry I missed the one last night. Fair play to you guys for doing it.

I'm down to one life now. No more mistimings. Now its serious

    First Epic Power

    Nice build

Illusion doesn't go too well with fire as the only AOE Containment power you have is Flash & thats slow to recharge. So you don't have the AOE Immob & Fireball that makes fire so good for other Controllers. The Consume at 47 would be nice though.

Primal goes well, Power Boost is supposed to be great and the single target blast is like your Phants so it looks right. Plus a shield too.

I went with Ice for the "safe resting" of Hibernate & Snow Storm, Freezing Rain & Ice Storm fun at 47. Hib is useful since things like Hurricane seem to stay up. So if a cornered boss is getting digs in you can Hib up and let your myraid of droppable thingies (Spectral Terror, Freezing Rain, PAs, Phant, Thunderstorm, Tornado) do the fighting while you recover health & End. I'm taking the single target blast too.
  21. The thing about Spectral Terror is that is keeps casting. Its an AOE Fear followed by Single Target ones being cast from the screechy thing. So its great for "fire and forget". Dump at over an area and it'll keep fearing targets randomly within its range. It also recharges quickly for repositioning, only one can exist at a time but the "old" fear effect will still be on its previous targets.

Basically its like sleep in that if you attack them they break out and do one attack back. After that they go back into Fear and won't attack unless hit again. I think theres a small -acc effect too.

The bad thing about it is it doesn't trigger Containment. But its great for just plonking down to soft-control an area while you do something else.
  22. I agree with Radiant that Choking Cloud is fab in PvE. It needs 6 slotting for full usefulness though, 3 End Reduc & 3 Hold Duration and Bobs your aunties live-in lover.

RI works well with it as it lowers Defense. You can't add accuracys to Choking Cloud.

    Thursday is fight-night isn't it?

I'm running Eden from 19:30 tonight. But 7 would be alright?

I was on on Thurs for most of the night and on a fair chunk of the weekend but didn't get any tells on this.

I would be able to show at 19:00 tonight and get it done nice and quickly?
  25. Yes thats tonight. I'm supposed to be orginising this so away I go.

The Forgotten Warriors are doing a Eden Trial Run tonight at 19:30 BST (the time in Ireland and the UK). I'm not 100% on numbers at the mo. There are 3 of us definately and I think maybe 2/3 more. So I've left those slots booked for the moment but theres a pretty high chance at least one will open up.

I also believe theres some dumb "can't start the trial if you are over level 41" bug with this so someone 39-41 would really be great as I actually levelled last week somehow when I wasn't paying attention.

The trial is timed to 4:00 hours. The No Future site seems down at the moment but it may come back today.

    Team so far.
