Also having Mind as my primary means I eat up endurance quite fast I guess.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Interesting, I would have thought that mind is one of the end-cheapest sets, but I havent got anything high-lvl yet.

    [/ QUOTE ]One word, telekinesis.

I play Mind/Psi dominator (and loving it btw). I originally planned to put Stamina in before I realised how good Drain Psyche is. Its a great power but you can't slot it for accuracy and it does tend to miss alot.

I find that when teaming my endurance doesn't drop too much, mainly because I can pause just a little between mobs to grab endurance back. But when soloing I was finding without Stamina (even using Drain Psyche) that I was getting worn out in the middle of boss battles, so I've taken Stamina now just for a little insurance, but so far its unslotted.

I imagine by the time I'm hitting the higher levels and using more of my secondary blasts (some End heavy things there), that I will really appreciate having stamina.

    Taunt on a Brute

    I consider Taunt a must with all my brutes. It has 3 purposes as far as I see;

    a) Generates quick fury with fast recharge and little endurance use
    b) Pulls mobs onto you so that you can gain fury faster
    c) Pulls mobs off your team even if its just a few. (Very effective for stalkers in the team)

dominators are so cool i think they are really powerfull i avent got one but i av seen them i think.

are dominators like blasters if so then i av seen them and they are so cool

    [/ QUOTE ]

A Dominator is more closely related to a Controller; it's Corrupters that are the Blaster types.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I dunno, I don't like to draw too many comparisons between CoH and CoV Archetypes. Personally I would say that Dominators are more of a cross between a Controller and a Blapper. They can do some awesome damage as well as controlling the field. They really don't quite match up to any one AT in CoH.

    Fire/Empath

i like controllers they are not very powerfull at a low lvl but come lvl 20 they really are powerfull with there pets they are so cool

    [/ QUOTE ]

    1) Have you seen a mind controller? I can out-damage most blasters at level 12, and solo better than most scrappers at level 12 too.

    2) Controllers get pets at level 32, not level 20. I certainly don't rely on my pets for damage (but then I'm a gravity/empathy...), and even if I did I wouldn't say it's the be-all and end-all of being a controller.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Here here!

Being a controller is about controlling the fight more so than controlling pets (thats what Masterminds do). And if you want to do lots of damage you're probably looking at the wrong AT, thats not where a Controller's talents really lie.

    Fire/Empath

    [ QUOTE ]
There are plenty of secondaries that are great for teams, but also help with soloing a lot more than Empathy does. Empathy is a team-focused set, where as a Controller is a character whose attention should be primarily on the mobs. With my Fire/ I went for Rad, the debuffs help me 1) hit the mobs more easily with control powers 2) reduce the ammount of damage coming from affected mobs drastically 3)stop me from being a buff-bot like kinetics and empathy would: the debuffs do the same thing, without having to cast powers on every team member between fights.

Also, the Rad set contains an awesome aoe hold (EM Pulse), best I've seen so far, together with choking cloud to boost crowd control options.

As far as I can see apart from giving you unlimited end, Empathy doesnt help your Controlling at all. I can imagine Fortitude and Clear Mind are great for the Imps however. By all means take Empathy if you really want to, It seems to me Kin or Rad meshes with the Fire Set a bit better.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As GV got the original idea for this build off me, I'll take a bit of credit. Needless to say I love this same Fire/Rad build. It allows you to focus entirely on the mobs (with the exception of your AoE Heal and AoE Accelerate Metabolism, both of which effect you).

If you go fire control then Rad is my personal secondary of choice. Also Choking Cloud is in my opinion the best hold in the game.
  6. I play a Fire Controller in CoH, so I know a fair bit about your primary.

    - Char is an excellent hold both for damage and duration.
    - Fire Cages+Flashfire combo gives you effectively a 2nd AoE Hold.
    - Bonfire can be good when used to protect a particular area, the knockback is pretty high.
    - Smoke is debateable and I had it for a while, helps if you wanna slip unnoticed but the Accuracy debuff is pretty minimal.
    - Fire Imps are great, you'll need to learn to control them and get them to attack the same target but they have great damage when focusing on one enemy.
    - Cinder is just a standard AoE Hold, recharge is pretty slow unless you have Hasten (I have Accelerate Metabolism too).

Can't really give you much advice on the fire assault set as I've never really played a fire blaster or fire tank.
  7. And thats exactly how it should be. Controller pets are "summoned". They are nameless entities that are entirely generic they posses very limited intelligence and basically just follow and kill.

Mastermind henchmen are different, they are at least semi-intelligent individuals who work for you. They are effectively the same minions each time you call them. They follow orders and can be used much more tactically.

    Ice/ice troubles

    [ QUOTE ]
I have an Ice/Ice dominator and I have found that my powers are so slow to recharge and that they use so much endurance that at lvl 5 i have still never used the dominator power. yet with my mind control/psionics dominator i am using it every 15 mins or so....

Do you think this is a bug type thing or something i will just have to live with and pile enhancements on?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've played both these builds. With a Mind/Psy I was hitting domination almost quicker than it recharged and took me just about 1 whole bar of endurance, fighting fairly constantly (running between mobs etc).

Ice/Ice I agree is a little slower, I've found that I usually hit towards the end of reasonable mission, or if I fight a bit before I enter a short mission I can still hit Domination by the end ready for the boss.

In answer, I don't think there is any real issue with the speed of the set. Perhaps it is something to do with the powers you've chosen. For example, the single target immobilise recharges much quicker than say, the Ice Sword (and also costs a lot less endurance)

I dont care, I want my pet to hold things for me so I can hit them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ahhh see thats where you're confused... YOU hold things so your PET can hit them.
