The point I was trying to make was that Twilight Grasp and Transusion are both heals but the two corrupters I teamed with hadn't slotted them up. I do know that healing isn't the be all and end all of being a defender or corrupter. Captain Cathode himself has never had Radiant Aura as I want him to go debuff/buff crazy. We all know Healing = Buffing, Buffing = Debuffing, Debuffing = VICTORY!
I don't run around spamming "HEAL PLZ" during my mishes but I was sort of hoping for some form of team support when I invited two corrupters to join us. Guess I'll have to increase the slotting on Spirit Tree... -
There seem to be two schools of Corrupting.
School One seem to be the "Defender" class corrupter - those who take their secondary powers more than their primary
School Two is the "Blaster" school where the primary powesr take priority.
I keep bumping into "blaster" type corrupters who basically can't help other team mates with any form of beff/debuff/heal. Yesterday I was teaming with 2 Corrupters (A Dark/Dark and an NRG/Kin) and the second one complained that we needed a healer. We had both Twilight Grasp and Transfusion but neither of the corrupters had slotted them. I wanted to turn around and say "you're a corrupter you're supposed to be the healer" which is too much of a gross over simplification.
So which is better "Blaster" type or "Defender" type corrupters?
My Dark/Dark is definitely more a "Defender" -
Honourable United doe it's Task Forces on Tuesdays because "Task Force Tuesday" sounds cool. Tonight we're doing Positron.
-
We have a few people with that pack (although I don't)
Last time I checked Vidiot didn't have the Croatoa Plaque listed. -
Date: 12th May
Time: 8 pm
Location: Boomtown
An event that I'm running for my Honourable United but anyone else who wants to come is more than welcome. The concept is we gather a group together and find all the plaques/exploration badges within a couple of zones. I'm suggesting we start at the "top" of the map and work are way down till we're bored stiff. We should have a couple of heroes with fly and recal friend so it shouldn't be too hard.
I've created routes through each zone so that the route takes us through each zone with a minimum amount of effort. It's a nice tour through the sceneic highways and byways of Paragon City finishing up in the City Hall. Each tour leaves us near the entrance to the next zone -The Galaxy Tour leaves us near(ish) the station and the Atlas tour is a spiral into the centre of the map. The only plaque I don't have info for is CroatoaMystery1 as the plaque isn't listed on the site I looked at - it may take a little more finding
Route:
Boomtown (4 Exploration Badges, 5 Plaques)
Steel Canyon (4 Exploration Badges, 4 Plaques)
Perez Park (5 Exploration Badges, 5 Plaques)
Galaxy City (5 Exploration Badges, 5 Plaques)
Atlas Park (6 Exploration Badges, 7 Plaques)
The full details and route is available here -
I created a video for the Radio One "One Big Weekend" Miming Competition.
The challenge was to create a video of you and your friends miming to one of the bands playing at the "One Big Weekend" Music Festival. I created a video of myself (Plug In Baby), Shingi (Time Is Running Out) and Dark Elf (Micro Cuts) dancing around in Pocket D together with action shots from the game.
The final results are here.
This was pretty much my first go of using Fraps, the CoH demo recorder and Microsoft Movie maker all in one go, and I only took a weekend to do it. -
I can't claim tis as my idea but what milage do you think an Electric Mellee/Rock Armour Brute would get. This was Sally Storms idea:
[ QUOTE ]
Stone Armour / Electric Melee
High end cost / Replenishes end
Which in itself isn't a great thing, BUT BUT BUT
Check out the last power of the Electric Melee set:
*ahem* and I quote:
The devs wrote:
Lightning Rod: You can polarize your body and become a living Lightning Rod. This power calls forth a massive lightning bolt from the sky to strike you. You can ride this bolt and instantly Teleport a short distances. You rematerialize in a massive bolt of electricity, dealing massive damage and knocking down all nearby foes. You must target the ground to activate this power. Damage from the lightning bolt is superior but is not affected by your Fury. (Damage: Superior, Recharge: Slow)
Now combine that with the awesome protection of Granite. You have an attack built-in to a teleport! Not only that, it's an AOE....I mean come ON, it's like taking a very muscley kheldian dwarf in and stomping until your feet are a bloody mess.

Sort of a long story...I live in Dundee where Radio One is holding it's "Big Weekend" music festival. The only way left to get myself tickets short of scalping them is to enter their competition to win them. The competition is to make a video of yourself miming to one of the artists playing at the festival. Full details are here
My idea is to try to make the video inside City of Heroes. This is where you can help me I want to try to populate Pocket D with Heroes/Villains themed on the band Muse.
If you can spare me the time, effort and spare slot then make a Muse themed toon and turn up at Pocket D this Saturday 6th May between 10 am - 12 Noon.
I put a list of suggested toon names on my SGs forum here
If I win I promise to where a T-Shirt stating Unions greatness throughout the whole event... -
Tenerebrous Tentacles is an Immobalise not a Hold (mores the pity!)
You can go here to look at what your powers do and what other players think about them) -
Specifically Bubblers are vulnerable to ranged attacks that drop toggles....as a radiation/electric defender I DON'T HAVE ANY! Toggle dropping is something that happens to me rather than something I do to other people.
-
I think by that point Team Everyone Else had decided that we didn't stand a chance....we didn't - as pointed out you need a specific set of powers to counter the bubblers in the PDs which we just plain didn't have.
-
BLIMEY!
OK lets get the spelling right once Congratulations for Columna who won the tournament in stirling fassion. The Spine/Rege scrapper spined their way to the top of a 16 strong field.

Due to popular demand I'm changing the rules to allow Travel Powers!. Don't say I don't do anything for you!
-
To clarify the rules of my event:
No Kheldians (of any level)
Level 50 characters welcome as long as they are not Kheldians (seeing as you've got to have a lvl 50 character to have a kheldian I don't think I'm restricting anybody)
In terms of why I restrict travel powers... I've been in areana events where travel powers have been used by players to "prevent losing" rather than to "aid winning" which I persoanlly don't like. Whilst there are certain temp powers that can be bought in the arena that nullify travel powers I've prefered to have a "level playing field".... it's a judgement call really. But seeing as this seems to be unpopular I'll try this weeks tournament WITH travel powers.
I'v played against the PDs when they did have travel powers on - it was painful so they're not going to get any sympathy from me. -
There ARE PvP Arena events organised on Defiant
I normally run them every fortnight and advertise it on the Main board and on my SGs board and all my SGs Coalitions boards too. Turnout is somewhat variable but if you want Arena PvP then turn up Galaxy City Arena 22nd April 2.30pm
The only rules I have are "no travel powers", "limit stealth" for the tournament and "no Kheldians" (lvl 50s are welcome though) -
Time for another one of my fortnightly Arena PvP sessions. Hopefully most people know the drill by now. We meet up at the arena and hold a tournament for the bragging rights of being able to say you won.
The tournament will be held on 22nd April at Galaxy City Arena at 2.30pm
THe full details are available from Honourable Uniteds website here. Please make sure you've read and uderstood the rules and are familliar with the arena interface before signing up -
I suggest taking SJ instead of SS. I would take the added knockback/hold resistance from combat jumping/acrobatics rather tham faster power recycling that you get from hasten.
I skipped Skewer and got Impale instead. Spirit Tree is OK for me at the moment but no better than OK. Seeing as their seems to be a shortage of Corrupters whenever I play having some sort of healing can be quite useful - but the recharge time is high and the healing not that great. -
Time for another one of my fortnightly Arena events. This time it's named after Honourable Uniteds most PvP savvy member our very own "Vegematic" (he slices, he dices, he peels!) SinghMC.
Pretty much everyone is invited but spaces are limited to 32 (after that my head explodes) and our priority system is:
1. People in HU
2. People that are coalated with HU
3. People that HU like
4. Bridger
5. Everyone else
The event will take place on 8th of April at 2.30pm in Galaxy City Arena (Emerald section).
You can help this event run smoothly by.
1. Reading the Tournament Rules and understanding them
2. Having taken part in and hosted at least one match in the arena already, so that you are familliar with arena interface.
3. Keeping still and quiet - the organisation for this is soley done by me and a piece of paper so it takes a little while for me to tell everyone everything. Like I said bear with me. -

Im pretty sure Honourable united (SG) has a lvl50 radiation/electric, so you can cross that one out. Cant remember his name tho

It's me -
Captain Cathode
Radiation / Electic / Electric
Defender -
I held off buying CoV until I got Captain Cathode all the way to lvl 50.
Now I bought it every time I try to make a Villain I immediately think of the most stupid concepts for my Villains. Maybe it was my influence from the likes of reading Spiderman comics with villains like The Enforcers, Stiltman and Paste Pot Pete but I can't for the life of me come up with a "serious" villain.
So far I've created:
Brussel Sprout - A mutant vegetable who is of course a Plant/Thorn Dominator. He also claims to be the EU ambassador to the Rogue Islands and is spreading pro Europe propogada through the archipeligo. He must have been crossbred with a spring onion as he has developed the ability to leap great distances
Twiglet - another evil foodstuff this time a magical marmite monster bent on spreading chaos and terror. With powers like "Twiglet Grasp" and "Howling Twiglet" this Dark/Dark Corrupter is ready to prove once and for all that Twiglets ARE evil.
I've got a Brute planned who basically put on a fancy dress costume, got hit on the head and now believes he genuinely is a Rhino ... named "Rhinos R Us" (although M##vel might not like that one)
So what do you think works as a better villain a "serious" villain genuinely bent on world domination/mass murder/robbing or "stupid" villain who basically shows the world that evil = dumb. -
I think I might have to ban Storm/* Defenders and */Storm Controllers in the arena they seem way too powerful (seeing as scrappers and controllers seem to be more likely to progress and scrapppers seem very weak against Storm)...
-
I just started playing a plant/plant dominator named Brussel Sprout (lets face it you knew Sprouts were evil this guys just living proof).
I've taken so far
Plant Control
Strangler (Holds are better than immobs)
Roots (group immob is useful)
Seeds of Confusion (confuse is more useful than sleep in my opinion)
Thorn Assault
Thorny Darts
Fling Thorns
Leaping Pool
Combat Jumping
This seems to suit my style of play as I'm not too comfortable taking a dominator into mellee range. Check out a site like gameamp for more details on theprosand cons of the various powers. -
Midnight Gale prevailed to win the tournament well done you! Sanity Inc should be proud.
