IIRC Foreshadow and Mirror Spirit are the Korean contingent and had quite a successful run in the comics (and Foreshadow at least if found on one of the Vet Reward Comicbook Covers) when there were Korean Servers.
Foreshadow is now the Hollows Trainer and Mirror Spirit is in Faultline - both put there by War Witch during revamps.
[/ QUOTE ]
you also get to fight them, well at least Mirror Spirit for certain, in end game villain arcs. -
'I remember children'
Tomb attempted to copy Healer Kids actions, but the wall proves too tall, with a grunt the 'fairy body builder' lifts her onto his shoulders.
'Feeding flocks of pigeons'
A quick glance for the overly large clockwork construct, another for the freakshow raid.
Hmmm criminal scum, a cowardly and superstitious lot! she mumbled
'I remember sunshine'
Alley oop! with a quick kick of her legs she spring boarded from the body builders shoulder and over the wall, her graceful landing only slightly marred by the way she had to turn around and tug on her cape, until it freed itself from the wall
'And you were mine'
Confidently she strolled out into the street.
Hey! she called out to the gang members
What, hey you kinda look... have we met? one of the mohawked individuals, asked before screaming and clutching at his leg as he fell writhing to the floor
' Bang Bang!'
I shot you down! she said proudly, white teeth glinting through the gun smoke.
A second bark from her machine guns, and another freakshow ganger went down screaming.
'Bang Bang!'
You hit the ground! said around the magazine as she pulled it free with her teeth, reloading as the injured freakshow members were dragged inside the shop.
'Well the band were playing
And the booze began to flow
But the sound came over on the police car radio
Down at Precinct 49
Having a tear-gas of a time
Sergeant Baker got a call from the governor of the county jail'
Answering fire broke the rest of the shops window, the little girl scurried across the floor, diving behind a dumpster.
I could do with some help here! she yelled loudly, as the dumpster started to rock from the gang members shots.
'Load up, load up, load up with rubber bullets'
I don't have any rubber bullets dammit! she spat, before poking her gun round the corner and spraying blindly
' Oh.... okay then' -
' Kill it, its tricksy and sneaky and needs to be killed!'
Tomb shook Healer Kids hand in a very vigorous and over the top way, the large man just sighed and shook his head.
Sure we can count on each other, though like a calculator might be better. Okay Charles lead the way! dashing into the alleyways.... she turned and dashed back
Okay where are these clockwork guys? You know people had better start calling us the dungeon masters, because this Paladin is going to fall, loose all its spells and the player is going to rage quit the group! -
'Impudent whelp, don't you know the face of your better? I the mighty Tomb stand before you, maybe if you crawl on your knees like a dog and [Radio Edit], then maybe I won't [Radio Edit] '
The little girl covered her mouth and hissed Can't say that!
' oh yeah the warrants and stuff, be the hero just make something up'
Striking a dramatic guns akimbo pose the little girl introduced her self
I'm Gun Pixie, a machine gun sprite, the big fellow is a fairy body builder! she gestured at the large man, who grunted in acknowledgment, his face a wry expression of tolerance.
' Watch your brains he's totally sizing them up, brain eating ET son of a [mutter mutter] '
Any idea what's going on?, its like a Jonas Brothers concert out there, with all the screaming and mayhem and people dying! she asked holstering her guns -
' Tap dancing Jesus Christ!!'
Tomb peered from around the corner where a large hulking winged lizard, was scaring away the local riff raff
What the hell is that? she muttered in amazement
' Alligator man from mars? Or maybe a Venusian lizard here for the mysterious Plan X!'
Wonder what its here for? she muttered popping her head round the corner
'Evidently, all this is its work, WWSD?
Wut? she asked confused
The large man just watched the little girl, truthfully he'd become used too and a little jaded by her mood swings and self conversations.
'What Would Statesman Do?'
Ah right!
With a loud yell of DIE ALIEN DIE! the black clad little girl dived from around the corner, sub machine guns barking as she sprayed hot earthling justice in the general direction of Healer Kid -
The low volume jazz track provided a counter point to the mumbling of the coffee shop patrons, students for the most part, with the odd retired couple or young professional dotted amongst the clientèle. At one of the tables sat an oddly assorted trio, a nervous man dressed in a clean cut white suite, perspiring despite the air conditioning, a large man with thick beard and muscles that hinted at assisted body building and a little blond girl dressed in black denim, nursing a cup of tea.
'Judging by his nerves, he suspects we know about the amounts he's been siphoning for his own accounts' raising the cup to her mouth for a fake sip the girl gives the perspiring man a small smile as she mentally assessed him 'Of course he doesn't know he hasn't passed the limit yet'
Listen To the nervous man was cut off mid word, by a growl from the larger man.
Wiping his face with a napkin he started again.
Listen Sarah, I know the F.D.A haven't classed any of this stuff as narcotics yet, but well some of the local capes don't care, lost a few of my pushers recently, some guy put them in the hospital he watched the tea drinking child as if terrified of her.
' Listen not the treacherous tongue, the false snake in white' shaking her head, she cleared her throat, before speaking
Arrange for this cape to run into a few dealers, when they aren't carrying anything illegal on them at all. Preferably some new faces, have them press charges, should get the cape off your back for a few months at least. she said, placing her tea on the table
'Itchy, itchy itchy fingers and thumbs, terror now, something wicked this way comes' the girl looked round, just as there was a loud bang, the coffee shop window shattered, rising to her feet the girl joined the panicked rush to the streets, accompanied by the larger of the two men.
Panic filled the girls sight, mayhem as people rushed away from a cloud of green gas, falling and clawing their way forward, or lying still and twitching as they breathed it in.
'Oh the grass has become clouds, maybe the cloud will be grass, topsy turvy its the revolution come brave comrades!'
Boss! BOSS! the bearded man shook the girl, until her eyes became focused.
The girl looked round, some where a baby was crying from an upturned walker, a passer by scooped it up, brave even in this time of terror.
'Suffer ze children?'
My things Ghoul, we've got an interesting opportunity here
He passed a bag to her, thick material covered in many zips, from it she pulled a long flowing cloak and a metallic mask, clipping the mask to her face she dramatically spun the cloak as she put it on, pulling the hood up, she walked into the chaotic streets.
'But aren't we all gods children?' -
Collectors edition please!

Hmmm in answer to 1) The group wouldn't be a traditional group in the same sense as LoRDs was, there wouldn't be a power struggle because it's just a collection of like minds wanting to spread chaos and anarchy, probably swap some tech specs, make sure the dates don't clash...that sort of thing. Every villain involved is free to do as they please while the organisation provides backup for any plans. Like when Ed hired Soren and Wild Red to bust him out of jail, it was a paid job and they did it.
[/ QUOTE ]
The rest of it sounded like a good idea, this bit, is where I question the integrity of this plan :P Not every villain is an anarchic chaos-worshiper. My villain for example absolutely detests chaos, and pretty much worships order, because he has a fragile mind and chaos causes him to lose control of this fragile mind. Which is why one of his main objectives - other than kill the Lost and other psychics - is to seal all of this universe from all other dimensions which currently causes such a large amount of chaos that Beyond Reach simply can't stand it.

Then he wouldn't fit in with those guys, maybe even work against them.
Not every Superhero is an Xman. -

+ finding a minion that delivers lieutnant experience and filling a map with those IS an exploit).
[/ QUOTE ]
They deliver that because if they aren't hit in time they summon a portal (which gives no reward) which then summons a bunch of reinforcements (which also give no reward) hence them getting their exp buffed, because frankly on something with out a good AoE output their risk is much higher than a minion. -

2) Lower the XP and particularly the Inf from the MA. It's fake fighting, and in that world any hero who boasted 'I've defeated a virtual Lord Recluse' would be laughed out of Pocket D. Why do you get full influence for beating up holograms? Do someone explain that to me. Risk/reward? Rubbish.
[/ QUOTE ]
Err, that's an argument from realism, which is generally a hint that you're chasing down a blind alley. In terms of gameplay, they're the same. The risks are in principle the same. All that's necessary is to get the rewards straight.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, in practice, LR dropped into an MA mission'll be just as tough as the real thing unless on Heroic, I think. Same risk.
Not sure who made the suggestion, but the suggestion that'd fit most thematically is that for XP, you can only get so many bars worth from MA. It'd reduce powerlevelling, and represents that while virtual training does lead to some self-improvement, it'll only get you so far and you'll need field experience as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Paragon have already 'biged up' the MA's ability to allow a player to play from 1-50 on player created content alone.
Removing that ability would be a PR disaster. -

[ QUOTE ]
And how successful would the game be if no players played it? If everyone disagreed with the devs who would be right then?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm sure people played CoX before farming existed for it lolsorry, had to be said, no offence intended, just being a cheeky monkey!
[/ QUOTE ]
Farming has always existed for CoX.
How else would you get SO's back in the day? -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
How about a simple system where the MA missions don't award a player XP every 5th level, until the next level is attained, but Inf is still earned, so you have to experience some "real" content if you do 5 consecutive levels in the MA system?
[/ QUOTE ]
Or blocks of 5 levels - you can get 5 levels max from MA missions, then no XP until you've gotten 5 levels from non-MA misisons.
That'd give you 25 levels max via the MA, but as you'd also need 25 non-MA levels, and they'd be increasingly high levels as you swiched between the 5 on/5off sequence, that'd funnel the players out of the starting zone AE buildings, and into the others.
For example, you do your first 5 levels in the Atlas MA, and then you need 5 normal levels next, so that'd move people into Kings Row or the Hollows.
Once they'd gotten their 5 normal levels there, they could return to the AE for their next 5, which could be back in Atlas, or in Kings Row, and as they progressed, they'd be less and less likely to return to the lower zone AE buildings, because it'd be easier for them just to use the AE buliding in whatever zone they'd been working on their latest 5 normal misison levels in.
[/ QUOTE ]to me this sound like a nightmare i got to do these miss then these and back to them. what if i don't want to do this any more CoX stories as i know most of them or that i don't like what player come up with? to me thiis sounds tooo limited in choices and not the thing Ma was meant to be brought in for >.>
[/ QUOTE ]
It would also be against Paragons boast that players could level 1-50 entirely on player made content. -
Anything that can be done without breaking mobs A.I I say isn't an exploit.
Otherwise we'd be open to stuff like breaking Roms line of sight so he doesn't rez multiple times, an exploit rather than a tactic. -
Please Avatea, use what ever power you to have to shut Positron up, its clear he has limited at best PR skills and he seems to nark everyone off every time he gives a statement.
Please Avatea spill coffee on his hands when he's writing these statements or something. -

Farming was never punished before and its been around since release, so they cant just say : " Oh well we decided its forbidden now and therefore we delete all chars that ever farmed, be it swarms in Creys Folly 4 years in the past, the hero freak map or certain villain maps.
[/ QUOTE ]
But there's farming, and then there's farming - and I think people hititng 50 in less than a day crosses the line of what the devs are prepared to allow.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's exactly it, and that's why this whole thread and its ongoing comedy of outrage has been such hilarious reading all night.
It's obviously an abuse of the MA to use it to level character to 50 in a matter of hours. How, in any reality, can that be seen as the way it was supposed to be used, or the game supposed to be played?
The issue here isn't farming, it's the systematic abuse of a system that was supposed to be a flagship feature of CoX. Instead, that abuse has made the whole game a laughing stock. And people defend that abuse? Not only defend it but refuse to take any kind of responsibility for taking part in it, even to the point of saying things along the lines of "the devs made me do it, it's not my fault!"
[/ QUOTE ]
Pretty sure you could level in hours before MA.
[/ QUOTE ]
Way to miss the point.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not really, since another flag ship of the CoX game, is the sidekick system which has always allowed 1-50 in a day.
[/ QUOTE ]
So why do you think Positron is coming down hard on MA abuse if there's nothing wrong with it?
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think he will.
Think it'll just be a threat, the games not in a healthy enough state for a mass ban. -

Ok... heres the idea, alot of people are kinda impatient when it comes to veteran rewards, so what if you can purchase your next one and thus eliminating the 3 months waiting time.
Although this will only gain you its content, not the badge or the actual playing time until the 3 months has come
of course it would be cheap, maybe the same cost as the 30 day jet pack? i dunno, either way, we get our stuff with no wait, NC gets some money, its a win/win right?
[/ QUOTE ]
How about veteran accounts go on time paid for, rather than time paid for that's expired?
Say you just got 6 months vet, paying for an additional 3 months would get you the 9 months vet, without having to wait 3 additional months. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Obviously since you now can get all your new shiny powers in a day, you can't appreciate how this might offend the people who spent 6 months getting their chars to the level cap.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not about offending i don't think. it's just... shortchanging the game.
I think the devs had the Power building side of the game pretty much right (in one sense) on day one. I never agreed with global nerfs or Ed firstly commercially speaking and secondly because they took away somethin that made this game unique, yet eminently playable.
They could have balanced up not down and in fact, given the power levels you can now attain, i question if balance was ever the reason for Ed and GN.
My point is, I think, that to fully power up was (barring fairly rare at the time power leveling)you played the game.
You went through the arcs, you developed your character as your on line persona as opposed to a model you are playing to get to 50 as fast as you can.
It was just purer then.
The overall nature seemed to be calmer and more friendly.
Farming was rare because the necessity to farm was much less so.
If you play that way now, look how far behind another player who joined the same day as you you are.
Or someone in your SG.
And you dont want that so you join the bandwagon too.
I can't believe that many standard MMO players thinks that's desirable, and I'm sorry the developers encouraged these kind of "long ball" tactics.
It was just, in my view, a much better gaming experience.
I know it's just my view but I dont see how they can expect longevity in this game when you can get your alts to 50 in a few days and using what is the most labourious and repetitous methods I can imagine.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why play through the pretty boring early level stuff?
The arcs that send you through umpteen loading screens, just to talk to some guy the opposite end of the city?
It's not like you could even use the learning to play excuse any way, as post SO's most power set combos play quite differently than when on DOs and TOs -
It is fun to skip the sucky bit pre SOs
-
Tomb/Sarah is always looking for way to expand her business.
Battle Unit Omega would be interested if it involved ideals relevant to the interests of the TLF..... or killing lots of magic users.
Baron Eternity would be there if free drinks and women to hit on were available. -
Just fix the "exploits", which they've done (will once patch goes lives), by lowering comms officers exp and making sure every attack set has a range component for the mobs.
So people want to farm, they were doing so before the MA anyway. -
