Quote:This sounds like you might think I was suggesting it was OK because I (now) understand it. I don't. I was just providing details on what, exactly is wrong with it.
Ahh the post's tone sounded like you were there, smoking jacket on, glass of wine in hand, remarking how the peasents simply need to know... -
Quote:I don't understand how YOU think it works.
After running Remiel's arc you could slot the Alpha all the way to tier 4 purely through random Shard drops and the Notice of the Well from the Weekly Strike Target. Indeed, I DID on at least 6 of my toons.
Yes but they said it would take ages, it does not do so. You get the slavage for the Alpha slots from doing Task Forces (to my knowledge not locked to premium players), it takes a maximum of free weeks unless you are a villain/rogue in which case it takes two weeks. -
Quote:It looks like the problem is that the "collision box" for the SWAT officers is offset not vertically, but horizontally. It's out in front of them. If you use the over-the-shoulder view that many of us do use, this causes us to need to click lower because that's how being in front projects when we look down on it at an angle.
The only way to get the hand to work on their chest or head is to lower the camera angle so that you're looking straight at them. Using "first person" mode should work too.
Which as the thread stated... is a bit much for a new to the game player to know. -

Quote:Don't you have to click on the door in the tram to enter it? Don't you want to click on the portal in Ouro to leave it? Don't you have to click on doors in pocket D to enter/leave there?
I'm not seeing the issue here, as basically all modes of transportation between zones require clicking something.. Why should hazard zones be any different?
The hollows, you have to click on a police man's crotch to get out. Even though the 'doors' are wide open. Some how crotch clicking doesn't seem an obvious way of traveling between zones. -

Quote:No, the only bull poop is your baseless assertion. I'm a professional, with a spouse, two kids, two dogs, a mortgage and a good credit score. I have never played any game 15 hours a day, even in college. When Issue 20 launched, I had one character in T3 in each slot in about a week of playing 2-4 trials a day. About 1.5-2 hours of play. Casual play after work.
You got lucky with the random number generator.
Not everyone is so lucky, how long do you think it would take if you kept getting the ten thread reward? -
Quote:Believe me, I've tried that. It's not impossible to do... But getting a boss class Void Slaying standing right next to the EB is not nice!!
The end result generally is that, sure it's doable solo with a PB, but don't be expecting to do it QUICKLY...
Four purples before attacking, switch to squidy form, hit the boss, and move back over the lava, enemy chases you into the lava, and dies :P
If they are going to be silly and make us level 20, we can be silly and deep fry the boss in lava. -

Quote:I know I said I wouldn't, but I ran it 2 more times on my PB today, just to give it another chance.. The first time there were few Voids and I had little trouble, the second time there were even more voids than the original run through and I was squid paté.
Void spawning could do with some tweaking in here...
Fill trays with purples and speed run it? -
Quote:That system would be terrible. You're not 'forced' to 'grind' anything. It takes maybe a couple of days of play per slot, about a week to get rares in each slot.
Actually I sort of like the system he suggested, just make the trials give much more incarnate exp than normal mobs do, and it'd be golden.
Complete the dungeon to access the random number generated loot, is so fantasy mmo. -
-
It's quick and easy with the right character/friends, not sure what to think about getting one reward per week, no matter how many of the 7 parts you do mechanic though.
-
You do people from the EU could not purchase from Gamestop/Amazon right? We had to get it directly from NCsoft, so yeah if some one can get the archived page for the EU store, from March 2010 (the 2nd specificly) that would show what it was I bought.

Found posts with quotes from devs, trying to find the dev quotes.

Woah, that thread derails into a talk about DC, shame that was a not so good mmo. -
Quote:Can you get that to go back to 2010?Here's a data point to add:
Internet Archive Going Rogue page
No mention of the Incarnate system. Praetoria, alignment system, new starting experience, new powersets new costume sets, new badges, addition to the Mission Architect system, two characters slots all made the list, but no Incarnate system.
It only seems to do it for 7-feb-2011 -
At pax Positron said that the first level of the incarnate system would be included with Going Rogue, it wasn't till 7-12-2010 that they said it had been removed, the expansion had been available to pre-purchase much longer than that.
I'm hunting to see if I can find any archived advertisments from before that announcement. -
Quote:You seem to be unable to grasp the concept that the devs aren't the Marketing Department and what they say isn't Marketing.
Furthermore there was no lack of communication on the devs part. You yourself acknowledged that the devs told us they had changed their minds and pulled the first incarnate level before GR launched. So you new it wasn't a part of the paid expansion.
This is nothing more than another example of how some players only pay attention to what they want and dismiss/ignore the rest, then complaining when it bites them in the butt.
They didn't say anything about removing alpha until just before open beta, you know quite along time after many people, including myself had already pre-purchased it.
Not pre-ordered it, pre-purchased it, paid for it, bought it from Paragon. At the time of purchase, all information about the product said that Alpha slot was included. -
Quote:I bought a DVD box of a series I like, and it came with the first few episodes of the next season as a bonus extra. I didn't feel entitled to the entirety of the next season just because I got a sneak peek.
Personally I've never said None subscribers should get access to the entire of the Incarnate system, just the Alpha slot which was originally marketed as part of GR.
That they later delayed said slot doesn't matter, as they had already started selling GR with the information that the Alpha slot, the first level of incarnates would be included.
Maybe I just expect better from Paragon than them to announce "You keep everything you've bought" with a disclaimer 'except this, because we decided that you hadn't actually bought it, even though it was part of GR when we sold it you lol'
Perhaps I'm just a little worn out with Paragon Studios, since they seem to have lost whatever it was that made them a 'good' company.
Lack of communication, 'suck it down' subscriber approach to development, and of course a massive increase in the 'two tiers' of customer service (aka **** you EU), maybe my spectacles got switched to rose tinted ones but I remember them being better than this. -

Since YOU seem to be ignoring this post, I thought it would be worthwhile to quote it. Arcanaville IS a reliable source, though also not a dev, granted.
Second video link he posts, 6:40ish seconds in, going rogue comes with one incarnate level (alpha), with more to come in Issue 19.
That's straight from the dev's themselves, that they later changed their mind, doesn't matter people bought going rogue based on that presentation. -
Quote:That makes no difference
Going Rogue Pre Purchase was announced March 02, 2010. It included the Alpha Slot
In July the Alpha Slot got moved back because of the beta tests
One of our Favourite Posters from the boards, Golden Girl stated...Almost certainly - it's one of the big selling features of GR.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...2&postcount=21
and check this video :
At 6.34 Positron himself states that the first Incarnate Level is included in GR...
Since people seem to be ignoring this post, it seems worthwhile to quote it. -
Quote:lucky me, i have a copy of the gr box, read the whole thing, its not on there. can you post a shot of the advertisement where incarnate content is specified as included please?
I'll look to see if it's still archived on the forums or not. You have to remember for many players (aka anyone not in the USA) online purchase through the NCSoft store was the only possible method of purchase. -
Quote:How many character slots would I get if I reverted to premium? Would I get all the character slots I currently have? No? OH NO THEY ARE NOT GIVING ME SOMETHING I PAID FOR. Whatever. It's been pretty clear all along.
Actually you would keep all the slots you've paid for.
Unlike Alpha slot access, which advertised as part GR but only removed just before the expansion launched, a long time after people had already bought it. -
Quote:No.
There is an Arby's near my home town, but it is too far to walk. You HAVE to have a car to go to Arby's. However, that does not mean that by buying a car you are buying Arby's.
You were buying a prerequisite for that access; getting a prerequisite for something isn't the same as getting that thing.
Except when it is advertised as including it.
