  1. After two days of trying to simply find a group of people to play with that weren't running alert missions to get to the level cap over night (exaggeration, but not by much), I've decided to stop pursuing Champions Online.

I waded through two whole days of solo play (to level 18) hoping the writing would stop being so Saturday morning cartoon childish, but it didn't. The game's combat system is different, but not really any better or worse than CoX for the most part, I find. Gear is 100% necessary to be successful and a very needless addition to the game. The road to level 15 is incredibly boring and dull (I went through four characters trying to find one I liked the best -- you can't go to the desert or Canada until 15 now so it's West Side 'til then) and from the complaints I've been reading the game's scope of content only draws narrower as I move further into the game. I can't necessarily knock it for that because City of Heroes had a big problem there too for a long time, however, the story writing & telling combined with the enemy groups I've faced really made me doubt that more of what is already there would even be the right answer.

After hitting level 18 with my Mind support character, I decided to try and find a group or even another player to team up with. Wasn't happening, didn't happen, and will never happen now since I've given up on the game and it's inhabitants. While there may be players who claim they're welcoming with open arms, I certainly couldn't find them. The few times I had interactions in zone chat I was met with completely unwarranted hostility for even mentioning that I was a refugee from CoX looking for some people to group up with. Granted, I was later told by someone in /tell that it's best to just level up by myself and group later...meh.

I hope you folks find a game to inject yourselves into and I especially hope that the community can find a welcoming or familiar place to shift a majority of itself to, but this one just will never be it for me.

Favorite part of the game: character creator
Biggest disappointment: writing that strives for a campy feeling but shoots right by and into childish

p.s. Blocking is the most unnecessary and dull game mechanic I've ever had the displeasure of having a run in with.
  2. Aye, I did use Driver Sweeper and used safe mode to ensure every bit of driver residue was gone before installing new ones.

Below Multi Display/Mixed-GPU acceleration (which I do have set to single display, since I have a single display) in the 3D settings I do not have a Power Management option. I do, however, have an option for Threaded Optimization which was set to 'Auto' and now to 'Off'

    Image of the actual error.

It'll happen on a seemingly random basis. I can expect it to happen on certain mission maps, though. This one in particular is happening in a sewer map (which is the first that spurred me to make this thread) but I also have it happen on EVERY Council underground base map.

It's happening so often that it's really impeding on my ability to even play since I can't even estimate when it's going to happen other than if I go into a mission. As of right now, I've not had it happen in any of the overworld zones.

If you can't view the image:

"The NVIDIA OpenGL driver lost connection with the display driver due to exceeding the Windows Time-Out limit and is unable to continue.
    The application must close.

blah blah blah unhelpful link for help?"

I've tried the following so far:
    Reinstall of the game
Rollback drivers (all the way back to drivers that are one and half years old! and various version hops all the way back to the most current)
    Tweaked my TdrDelay
    Switched to Single Display Performance

    Absolutely no change so far.

    100KB Limit

Okay, I've removed ALL custom characters. Using just the council as the enemies on my two maps I'm at 80%. How do you explain that one?

I've removed the boss encounter from the first mission and removed the two collections. The second mission doesn't even have ANY objectives as of yet.

    100KB Limit

So the solution is to use characters already present in the world? Meh. If that's the case I'm pretty much done with the architect deal until something gets changed.

This is basically just a random mission generator. Same old faces with new objectives.

I was ready to creative elaborate arcs with backgrounds following the timeline. Guess that pretty much just got shot in the foot, eh?

Not like most people playing are interested in rich or even decent stories anyway. Just looking at the terminal its pretty evident: people only want to beat up big packs of monsters.

I'll try to reduce all I can but being on my second mission in my five part arc, I really don't see this happening.

    100KB Limit

I'll have to use all three of my mission slots just to finish my arc. Then the problem arises that I won't get nearly as much exposure because of them being broken into three fragments.

Maybe add an increase in size to the ticket vendor?

    100KB Limit

Are there any plans to increase this? I'm finding that already on my second mission in my arc that I'm having to cut back. My plans of a five part arc are pretty much shattered now.

I thought the file size pertained to only one mission, not the entire arc. I have to say that I'm sort of disappointed that my creativity is actually hindering me.
