I would start by getting a half bottle of vodka, mixing it with whatever took my fancy that night and heading out to my favourite club where I would then simply be so drunk I'd talk to people.

But you're in America, I am sure there are lots of people local to you who are interested in similar things you are. YOu just need to take that first step. The rest should be relatively easy.

Of course this is coming from someone who's become increasingly reclusive as of late, but I'm old, I'm allowed to, dammit.
