On the other hand, if you have them, there's no reason not to use them before taking on an ITF or trial. Recipe drops are still low enough that there's not always a noticeable difference in the odds, but thread/shard drops are pretty steadily better with them, as is inf gain.
The only trouble I have is REMEMBERING them, really. -
I'll be watching this with interest. I have a level 50 TO I've been thinking of selling.
-
They already compromised way more than they wanted to by making ATOs available outside of the Super Packs at all. I kind of doubt this will happen.
-
Well, consider that there's two primary endgames to City right now: Incarnate stuff and rolling a new character. Non-VIPs can't participate in Incarnate stuff, so the logical thing is to offer them either the VIP package or stuff that aids in rolling new characters.
It is an interesting distinction, though. -

Quote:Exactly. And heck, since your normal gameplay doesn't involve using them normally, then there's no need to 'save them for an emergency'. Just pop one or two every so often and enjoy the high until they're gone, then go back to your normal play. All I got to say, what the heck am I supposed to do with all these temps and inspiration I never use!?!

Quote:Have to agree.Vigilante->Villain missions
Rogue->Hero missions
Not cool, developers.
I love the Villain->Rogue missions. They're clever and interesting. Rogue->Hero, though, feels far too forced, and the missions themselves are some of the worst escort missions I've ever had the unpleasantness to endure. -

Quote:Yeah, but to continue the analogy, but the time that porterhouse comes around I've already had a 5-course dinner. I'm stuffed. I'm ready to pay the check and go.Funny part is the only hero morality one at high level i like is one good spider. unusual suspects is a dumb mission that reuses an overused trope, has wonky flow and just feels dumb and is really stupid on repeat. one good spider is the kind of mision i play he game for, I'm willing to wait for a porterhouse steak, rather than wolf down a cheeseburger in 3 mins.
I suppose it's possible to leave the morality until the next day, since it doesn't count against your tips, but why wait? Especially if you need that A-merit for something now. -
Save Panther 541 is one of the best tip missions there is. I don't get being confused about it either: the instructions when you get into the mission are pretty straightforward. Talk to the base commander and fight off the ambushes. That's it.
The only mission I actively avoid is One Good Spider. It's not that it's a bad mission; it's actually pretty epic and well done. It very much captures the heroic sense of swooping into Grandville, flipping over Arachnos's table, and escaping with the rescued ally.
But it's long, especially after already running through 5 previous tips. It's got a ton of objectives you must complete in order, and it's just tiring when I'm ready to move on to other stuff. It's a lot easier to go step on level 20 enemies until one coughs up The Unusual Suspect, which is quick and simple. -

Quote:Check under the Collections tab in-game. There should be an entry for unlockable costume sets, and the Elemental Order set should be in there.Probably a stupid question but...
Is there a way to see if you received the entire costume set? I know I got a few pieces but cannot find them in the costume creator or on a checklist anywhere...
Caveat: I haven't looked myself, so I don't know the details firsthand, but that's where the rednames say it should be. -
I'm debating whether or not to dig up the old super pack threads in a couple months just to laugh at the people who were certain, certain that the cheapest ATO wouldn't go for less than a billion. It probably wouldn't be very gentlemanly.

Quote:And MMOs.Dude, I am not saying you should walk on egg shells, I am just saying call a spade a spade. Those who may have a gambling addiction may be overly drawn by super packs, CCGs, and Hero Clix.
In other words, given that we're here talking about it, it's a little late to be worrying about such things. -
Yes. All costume pieces and the pet are account-wide, and every other item you get gets put into your Character Items mail tab, so any of your characters can claim them at any time (although you can only claim each item once, not once per character).
-
You need to differentiate between the legal definition of gambling and the social definition, as Snow Globe has been hammering on. Socially, sure, the super packs are a mild form of gambling. Legally, they don't count as gambling. They fall in the same category as M:tG cards and those little toy vending machines.

Quote:No? I am saying what you quoted me as saying. You are saying there would be no complaints if say your local Mc Donalds, started serving alchol?
Personally, I would not have a problem with the local McD's selling alcohol as long as they were scrupulous in carding minors, just as the local convenience store is. Seriously, why can I walk into the Chevron and pick up a case of Bud but can't get a bottle from the McDonald's that's right next to it? Does that make sense to you?
Also, you are aware that McD's in some countries do serve alcohol, right? -
Quote:Why must we be concerned with what is morally and ethically superior in our entertainment? On the other hand, it's good business practice because it appeals directly to the deepest impulses of a person's psyche. If someone really wants that wolf or all those costume pieces, they have to keep paying. But I'm old-fashioned in the sense that I don't believe that whatever is good for the bottom line is the right thing to do.
Alcohol is seen as a vice by many people. It's a vector for addiction. It can cause brain damage if consumed in large enough quantities, and drunk driving is a very real danger.
Yet somehow 95% of the world manages to survive while imbibing fermented plant juice. It's a relaxant that gives a nice buzz and provides enjoyment when used in moderation. And most people can cope with moderation.
Same with gambling. Same with games. People with addictive personalities latch onto them. They do have the potential to harm, in that a person's mental chemistry may be poorly wired for handling such things. But taken in moderation, they're fun. Most people enjoy them, despite the complete lack of other contribution to society they provide.
And because they're entertainment, they are not necessities. Folks with moral qualms about indulging are free to avoid them. I don't require my entertainment to be a paragon of virtue, merely not so repulsive I can't enjoy it. -
As far as I'm concerned, if someone has such a problem with addiction that even this mild form of gambling presents an issue, they really shouldn't be anywhere near MMOs at all and should be seeking help. They will have already lost their job, home, and family due to attempting to farm purples. "Just one more spawn..."

Quote:If you believe all this (I do), and further that you believe it's a bad thing that should be avoided (I don't), why are you on an MMO to begin with? MMOs exist because of intermittent rewards.Exactly. That's how powerful intermittent rewards are. Even people who are against gambling in general will often succumb to the siren call of maybe getting something cool.
I can't stress this enough: intermittent rewards are the crack cocaine of your subconscious.
Just because they CAN do it doesn't mean they SHOULD do it. -
Quote:Not everyone is happier. That's apparent from this thread alone. But a lot of people are happier. More are happier than not.I'm... unhappy with this. I know other people have brought up the "gender equality" card and already been beaten down for it because "everyone is happier this way."
Quote:The part where it's not fair to those of us with a stable of predominantly male characters, and my $5 only buys my favorite characters 1 costume when it'll buy someone else 2, and we paid for the exact same thing...?
I dunno, man. It doesn't quite track. -
Quote:Even if your last sentence wasn't a distortion, at least going by the forum response this change is far more desired than not. This right here is what I was afraid of, and specifically arguing AGAINST in those damned "Gender Equality" threads.
As I feared "Gender Equality" did in fact just turn out to mean "Everything for females."
You can never please everyone, especially if the options are exclusive to each other and each has its supporters.
