I am no numbercruncher and can only rely on what I experience in-game. With 2 accu and 3 tohit I seem to be missing only the occasional laserburst/hlb. As to the 4xdam slotting - yes, that will change when I start getting SO'ed up. As of now - the extra dam with DOs is worth the current slotting (am fighting max +2's at the moment)

Whoa mate, I am _not_ waving the flag for a nerf here
I've spent my time with blasters in CoH, and it's quite refreshing not dying every mission or being outranged by a crey pistol in the 35+ game
Heck, even a lvl 12 troll boss in Hollows throw those rocks 40% longer than my blast...
High consistency - yes. Huge initial damage - yes, but in the post-32 game (we get kinda like an alpha strike when all minions have be upgraded max and let loose on an unsuspecting crowd) only. 3 drones + 2 prot bots + 1 assault bot unleashing carnage is something I look forward to.
And in regards to the "differentiate xp-gain calculation". What I meant that there are too many things to calculate if the minions were to be dragged into the loop, causing more stress on the servers - hence more lag. -
[ QUOTE ]
then of course a reduction in xp-gain caused by "AbM" (arrest by minions) would be preferable
That implies there's actually another way for Masterminds to defeat mobs...
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, actually no. We still defeat mobs as quick as before, but with some sort of code implemented will give us less xp pr "arrest". The side-effect here is that we'd be shunned from certain types of teams, i.e. teams not wanting to have fun and only looks at ways to maximize the xp-pr-minute/hour ratio (which is OK by me, 'cause I'm not in this game to get to a certain level faster than anyone else). We'd still level ok-ish but not as fast as some think we do now.
edit: just thought about way to circumvent this one - order minions to whop, then put in passive mode when just a sliver health left and finish off said mob with a puny force bolt / whatever
Unless they figure out at way to grant xp based on damageoutput and diffentiate between minions and MM and other potential members in team. Not doable, because these calculations would surely kill the server -
ahhh.... sorry about that LN
I failed to see your posting in context.
If they decide to do something, which in all honesty I don't think is needed, and we get a choice between loosing pets/powers or a wee bit of xp - then of course a reduction in xp-gain caused by "AbM" (arrest by minions) would be preferable. Not that I would applaud such a change - I would instead throw rotten tomatoes and eggs in Cryptics general direction, and argue for hours on end on which bird is the fastest one. (spot the reference? no prices awarded tho) -
getting 5 minions up and running including 2xbubbles on each bot drains 1 full bar of end. I then pop 1 blue, and trigger assault + tactics + dispersion bubble. Before I have to bubble up again I have regained enough end to remain comfortable. It is only when using Force Bolt repeatedly that I occasionally have to pop a blue. So no health/stamina for me. Nor will I get hasten - as it's not needed.
I've dropped to 2 accu and 4 dam in drones, since drones spawn 2 lvls below me I need that 1 extra accuracy - and the rest is managed by tactics with 3 tohit. Assault gets 1 endred, and dispersion bubble gets 3 def-buff + 1 end red.
Slotting might change a wee bit once I hit 32 and get Upgrade. Currently stomping my way up to 26 and assault bot -
I choose neither. As I've said - a properly slotted MM (regardless of type) should and will tear through mobs like hot knife through butter. And why shouldn't that AT do just that? It is frantic as heck, the risk is proportional to the gain and it is refreshing to be able to order a small army of minions around.
If the xp-gain is nerfed it goes against the very concept of a Master Mind. "Hey, you master-mind there! I see you have very good control over your minions, therefore I must remove a percentage of your reward..." It's like being taxed, and almost noone likes taxes. -

aye, Fluct is _the_ guide to have when visiting any of the hospitals. Which floor is the best, which nurses to avoid etc etc. -
nah, me is not native English speaking and I had no problem spotting the "humour" in the original post. Of course - I got brains the size of northern Europe

replying to myself here, cue start of true psychosis
Decided to go for recall friend at 24 instead, recommendedI am usually the first to leg it when things go awry and scatter back to a safe position. Then I TP others (then on brink of death) to me, and heal them. Meanwhile (my minions are wiped at this point) I start bringing them back up, just in case some baddies follow (aggrorange is insane in some mishes....). Then I send out my minons to stop the followers, giving my team enough time to rez/heal/whatever.

very much made up, no dev with more that 2 braincells would be this honest

I'll bring Boltmeister in with my puny hold and some decent damage output, just as long as some people are kept out of the Hive during the entire thing. There gotta be a way to have some GMs (clive, max et all) online during the start to make sure griefers/idiots don't mess up the effort of 100s of Heroes (like insta-kicking on request and putting a 5 hr ban on their accounts?)
Tried 2 raids - both failed due to morons aggroing and not following simple instructions. Just a wee warning to the griefers - when I get hold of your IP-adress I am going to make it disappear into a black hole. Here's 20 yrs of phreaking/hacking saluting all morons, saying "bring it on, and I'll make you pay dearly"
edit: and oh, why not try the "no-hold-strategy"? A triangle setup with some TPs on constant active duty will bypass the hold-spam-lag-fest. Don't have the link to this stragey here, but look on the US boards and you'll find it. Theoretically it would mean that 3 (maybe 4) groups of heroes can whop Hami good. Expect lotsa deaths, but no insta-wipe if we loose Hami with the hold-strategy at 50% and 20% Hami-health. -

I think the suggestion to reduce the XP gained from the pet kills is a good idea.
[/ QUOTE ]
I hope you meant this in jest, my good mate
[ QUOTE ]
Look at my pets, yeah they're so... no they all died, why? Five yellow mobs and a red boss wiped out the entire team including me. I have no defenses or attacks but my pets, if I lose them or their power I become useless and I can just imagine the queues of people wanting to team with me then.
[/ QUOTE ]
I try to see this statement in context with the one above, and I think there is a major leap in perspective here that I don't get. First you like the idea of lowering xp when pet kills, then you state the obvious that without pets an MM is worthless (well, not entirely - with "proper" secondaries an MM is still usefull in a team, but solo? heck no).
Granted - properly slotted (if you have enough infamy that is) an MM is very good in PvE. Multiple proper slotted MMs in a team -> xp jackpot machine.
It requires quite different slotting to be effective in PvP, and PvP is not a viable option until atleast lvl 26, maybe not until lvl 32.
replay to all: So the whole discussion about nerfing MMs - don't. Don't even go there. It _is_ a whole different AT, and if one does not like MMs - don't play one. AoEs from bosses will wipe my minions in seconds if I don't pay carefull attention, and I must confess that I haven't been this busy playing an AT since the "snipe-run-hide-pop greens-blast-bolt-run/hide-snipe" playstyle with my blaster in CoH -
Yeah, me been thinking about standard ED-slotting too, but if I do 4xdam and 1 or 2 accu I hope to make up for the extra 10% in accu by 3-slotting tactics with tohit buffs. Currently with DOs it's at +34.5%, essentially the same as 1 or 2 accu in any power. With 4xdam in prot and drones I am at +80%. The disorient in assault will only come into play after the Upgrade at 32.
Am at lvl 24 right now, cpl bars from 25 and can't wait to get assault bot -
havent seen this myself, and once we had a 6 man team of MMs at lvl 22 on a similar map. No problem, although a bit crowded at times
