  1. I apologize in advance for the long message:

Chowder is the 2nd of my COH friends who has died in the past 4 months. Between those who are ill, service members who are deployed, or those who are in firmed, I can see how COH is more than just a game. It is a way to make friends and provide a mental escape from a hard reality. A place to connect with others in situations where they may be physically unable.

I never knew that Chowder's name was Matt. I don't think it would have mattered. All I knew is that I liked him. He was a fun, clever, selfless player who everyone enjoyed seeing and having on their team...or sharing a barb on the Pink Channel.

And though we will miss "Chowder," my heart goes out to those who knew Matt Sowder. Because if he was even a fraction of the person that "Chowder" was, he was truly a special person and their loss is profound.

RIP Chowder. You will be missed!

    Blu

    P.S.
I am sorry that wont' be able to make the wake as I will be on an airplane at that time, but I do plan on taking a personal moment with you guys.
  2. I have a Rad/Kin that is 5 years old; my name sake - Bludgeon. Needless to say, Big Daddy Blu he has seen a number of respecs. After all this time I came to the conclusion that the best way to play him was raw speed.

He is maxed with two things: Ranged Def and +Rech! Why? Because nothing gets near him; he doesn't need melee res/def. He hovers. He siphons speed. If they get close, Cosmic Burst is always up. Why? Because of all the +Rech. Offensively, the attack chain is brutally fast and he has his sidekick: the "Crack Widow."

I selected Soul Mastery from the Patron pool specifically to get the Fortunata pet. Because of the hyper recharge philosophy, there is only a 20 sec window when she is Not available. Which gives me constant Psi damage that gets a healthy dose of SB, FS, and SP. Transfusion keeps her ticking while her KBs keep Blu from harm.

    NET:
    1. Dump kick, jump kick, boxing, flurry, tough, weave inertial reduction!!! <ICK>
    2. RECHARGE, RECHARGE, RECHARGE...hasten, siphon speed, Spiritual, sets.....SPEED!
    3. Get a pet. Buff your Pet. Let it kill stuff!
    4. Keep your victims at range..bounce in and out for heals and endurance
    5. Skip Electron Haze and Irradiate....they are slow, the damage is weak, and your attack chain can be so fast that your best attacks will always be ready.
    6. Learn to use soft controls: Air Superiority, Cosmic Burst, Siphon Speed, etc
    7. I question the use of tactics given the -Def in neutron bolt and x-ray beam. Seems like a wasted slot

Good luck with your build...I hope this alternate perspective helps.

    Corruptor duos

I would build one of the toons for risk mitigation such as ice or dark. Take the second build and go for maximum damage Fire/Kin or Psy/Kin. The issues that need to be addressed are that corruptors are squishy and don't deal the damage of other ATs.

My solution for Corruptors has always been ranged def or control. For example, I have an Ice/Kin. Ice for risk mitigation/Kin for damage. The best combo that I have found is a Fire/Dark. Mine is so heavily loaded with Ranged Def (32%) and Debuffs that I can regularly solo elite bosses. It gives me a lot of flexibility in how I address an infestation of Longbow or an overly heroic hero; pests...all of them.

    ATTACK EXAMPLES

Boss Attack Pattern 1: Lead with darkest night, follow with fear (it won't freeze the boss, but the -ToHit will land). Next drop the tar patch/Rain of Fire and start bombing....Now you can laugh at their feeble attempts to reach you for melee and their constant errant ranged attacks.

Mob Attack Pattern 1: Select the victim to the furthest rear position of the mob and attach Darkest Night. Now the poor schmuck is an aggro magnet. Run him through a couple of mobs as a Judas Goat. Lead them to a corner or doorway, Drop Tar Patch, and wait around the corner. Once they are all in the patch hit them with Fearsome Stare so they stop shooting at you and causing problems (mitigation). Hit Aim and Oppressive Gloom.....NOW go for Rain of Fire and watch them wiggle and melt. You can regularly kill group of 5 - 15.

And don't forget the unpredictable debuffs that your Dark Servant will throw into the mix.......hehehehe.

I hope this gives you some ideas. Good luck with your "Dastardly Duo!"

    Build Help

    <DISCLAIMER/RANT>
These are my OPINIONS and only my OPINIONS. I reserve the right to be wrong, ignorant, stupid, myopic, and any other adjective that someone may wish to use to describe my suggestions.

The review is the product of my experience, preferences, mood, and possibly what I ate for breakfast this morning. If you do not like it, please don't take offense as I am willing to accept your views for what they are....YOUR VIEWS.
    </DISCLAIMER/RANT>

    Snapshot Review:

    1. You have selected some extremely expensive sets that will be hard to obtain. Ragnarok, Luck of the Gambler, and Apocalypse will take hundreds of Millions, if not Billions, to obtain. Get ready to spend a lot of time earning to get these sets. In the mean time what are you going to do? Consider downgrading your sets and replace them over time as the cash comes in.

    2. You are a squsihy! You need some kind of soft control. (More on that later)

    3. I would not use Acorbatics.....The Endurance/Benefit is very poor for a Corruptor. You are better off picking up the M30 Grenade. We will improve status protection later.

    4. For Corruptors, I like to use set slotting to obtain status protection . Consider slotting Buckshot and Slug , and M30 with Kinetic Crash. It's cheap and you just picked up (3) Mag3 KB protection and improved your soft control with a heavy KB capability on your fast recharge powers. Though you reduce your damage, you have dramatically increased your soft control and reduced your endurance burn.

    5. The Fighting Pool is an incremental improvement for toons that already have Resistance and Defense. It is not a substitute. My experience is that it is fairly useless on a squishy (Yes I have tried it ). Consider replacing it with the Flight Pool. The flight pool gives you the opportunity for a fast activating soft control (Air Superiority) and a status assist in hover. Both are far more useful to a squishy.

    6. Same issue with the Leadership pool. It is meant to be an incremental improvement to groups, not individuals. Once again, believe me because I tried it on my Corr ;P. You could use the powers and slots elsewhere. Consider using the Concealment Pool as a replacement.

    6. I would take Burst and slot it for Debuff. Since it doesn't do much damage, use it to reduce the capabilities of your victim and get some set bonuses. Shield Breaker and Touch of Lady Grey have large bonuses, and are both cheap and plentiful.

    7. Way too many slots given to something Combat Jumping. The net effect of (6) slotting it with THE MOST EXPENSIVE defense set is a whopping 3.3% increase in defense. Apply the slots elsewhere. Think of combat jumping as a nice place to put specialty enhancements such as: Gift of the Ancient - Run Speed and/or Kismet - Accuracy and/or Luck of the Gamber - Recharge and/or Karma - KB Protection.

    8. Lastly (Because I said Snapshot) is consider the places where you have (3) slotted a power with the same enh. For example, (3) slotting Hasten provides an improvement over (2) slotting of only 13 seconds....is it worth a slot? The same is true for Accelerate Metabolism. There are several powers that need additional slotting, but they have been taken up in areas where they are only providing benefit in diminishing returns.

I hope that you find these suggestions helpful. And Welcome Back!!!
