  1. You know, even before I entered them in Final Fight, I thought that my team's theme song in that thread would most certainly be "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen! All three of them have certain parts to play in the song, which is probably easy to guess.
  2. Not bad! Have you ever considered joining up in the roleplaying forums?
  3. ((Bad Toy! Don't make scary death robots!!!!!

But really, very nice story, a great read! Nice detail on the bots, I could really see them in my head!

I did, however, have a part I enjoyed particularly!

Possibly the best explanation of any type of movement I have ever seen!

No, no, the Catcher in the Rye just sucked, period. You didn't need for it to have parallels between your character and its main character to despise it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I love you!

Glad you argue, Pyrria, and yes, I realize that Billyboy is NOTHING like Holden is deep down. I mean, Billyboy is desperate for attention from everybody, while Holden just hates everyone because he's the world's most bitter nonconformist. But they both do the same kind of crazy things! Maybe Billyboy doesn't go as crazily psycotic when he does his weird stuff.

Okay, my head is kind of cleared, I'm glad you guys don't agree with me!
  5. As for parents, my characters are pretty mixed.

Billyboy has both parents, and they've never had trouble in their lives, so it seems. They're a perfect couple and spoiled him rotten because he's their only child.

Another hero, the Champion, had his parents both killed when he was an infant and was raised in an orphanage by (cliche) nuns! He never knew his parents, but his anger at their killer is one of the things that drives him. Well, he really is angry at everything, but if his parents hadn't been killed, then he really would never have been put in his predicament.

I haven't thought much about the home life of Maestro. Maybe I should think on that.

As for Jaredman, he was raised by his mother, because his father was killed when he was young. He still remembers him, but not well. It's a risk in Arcadia, he was just unlucky to lose a family member, but it just makes him more sure of his cause.

Dr. Phillis was raised by his father, because his mother died in childbirth. How could that happen, you ask? Well, anyone in SH101 will find out later! No telling my secrets! Let's just say, it isn't the guilt that makes him a villain, but it did have an impact on him for another reason.

Evil Jaredman has no parents, but he calls Dr. Phillis "Pops" because he created him.

Cyba's parents raised her and her sister, but they both died after she had left the house. In bad fashion, I can tell you that much. Nobody likes being attacked by vampires.
  6. Huh, something just struck me that I find extremely weird and disturbing!

Alright, so I've just read The Catcher in the Rye for my american studies honors seminar class, and I absolutely hated it. The main character, I think, is a psycopathic maniac who needs to be shot. He's the most unlikeable character IN THE WHOLE WORLD, and I really can't stand reading the stupid book. It made me so mad the whole time I was reading it, because he constantly criticized everyone and did really, really dumb things.

But now that I think about it....

Billyboy is, in a way, very similar to Holden Caufield! He's annoying, loud, and has these wild impulses that come out of nowhere. He's unlikable a lot of the time, and he gets mad at people easily and can be a huge jerk. Now that I think about it, maybe I'm angry at The Catcher in the Rye for stealing my hero....
  7. Hah, well, if we're trying to get back to trivia....

For those of you in Final Fight, Evil Jaredman was created with a strand of the fourteen year old Jaredman's DNA, but he didn't come out young. Dr. Phillis created him as an adult so he would have more developed powers, and also because he hates teenagers with a passion. So, Evil Jaredman is an adult, while Jaredman is still a just a teenager. Crazy, huh?

Oh, and Evil Jaredman didn't found the Radioactivists, he simply fell into a chemical silo, his DNA structure got messed with because he's a clone and therefore unstable, and he went and murdered the leader of the gang, which was already under the rule of black-skinned radioactive anarchists.

Also, while Jaredman is a devout Christian with the belief that he was given his powers as a blessing to help people, Evil Jaredman is just as well versed in the Bible, but strives to become the Antichrist instead of a warrior of God. I think you can guess his favorite book of the Bible, aside from the end of it.

Maestro is only alive thanks to the intervention of a red cap trickster known as the Rascal King, who guided him through the Underthere when he first received his powers and solved the many puzzles and traps along the way. He also helped a lot in the fights, but he was also a huge detriment due to his obsessive need to pull pranks, which are often extremely dangerous.

I haven't RPed anywhere with the Champion yet! I need a place for my angsty hero!
  8. Billyboy has parents! Really nice parents, in fact! How do you think he ended up being the spoiled brat he is, by living in a broken home?
  9. Yes, yes, Sepiroth is prettier than Kefka the clown, and more than likely more powerful, but I'm just saying there was so much more to Kefka!
  10. Kefka is by far my favorite Final Fantasy villain! He was the greatest ever! I actually argued his case with a friend for near an hour once, citing how he actually beat the heroes in his first plans, unlike pansy Sepiroth, and how he was much more involved in the taking over of the world, which was ultimately way more evil than just blowing it up and killing everyone, like just about every other Final Fantasy baddie seems to want to do!

Ah, yes, I've said time and time again that FF6 should be remade for a next gen system, it was just that good to me. It would look AWESOME now, considering all the cool things they would be able to actually make nice looking! And Kefka is just such a great bad guy... he makes the game! He's so easy to hate, but there's more than just a sense of him being the bad guy that does it.

Yeah, I love villains, especially good ones. Pretty-boy Sepiroth ain't got nothing on Kefka. At least Kefka's got two wings....
  11. Lol, well, Billyboy is a bit of a personification of the side of me that was so confused during middle school and early high school. He's basically based on what I thought was cool when I was younger, and he's a huge follower. He's basically a huge character flaw. He'll do whatever makes people like him because he's that desperate, he's arrogant and stuck up, and he's willing to change himself if it makes him look better to the other popular people. Of course, we haven't seen a lot of that at Golden Eagle yet, but don't doubt that it's bound to happen. He tends to take others opinions instead of his own when it comes to peers, because he doesn't want to disagree if it would mean his reputation. All in all, he's someone that I really wouldn't like, but is a lot of fun to right about and develop.

Dr. Phillis is based on me as well, but he's the most biased parts of me. There are times when I've been so angry I just take a standpoint that is way too radical, and my evil genius represents that. I just use to show frustration at the world, and being sick of doing things the "right" way all the time. He's good stress relief to write about, actually.
  12. Wow, these sketches are wicked good, Quake! You've got another fan here! You've got one of the styles I admire! Hope you don't mind me throwing out a request here!

The character is Billyboy, and he's a sixteen year old hero, and extremely show offy. He's arrogant and rude, and a perfect tanker because he wrote the book on making fun of the bad guys, so he tends to draw a lot of attention to himself. He's a young punk with a runner's physique and a mean streak a mile wide.

    Billyboy Close up

    Full view

Thanks so much for this in advance! I can't wait to see him done, your work is really great!
  13. If irony were cookies, Dr. Phillis would more than likely have weaponized them by now.
  14. Maestro is based on one of my good friends who once told me he played a bard in D&D. He read a few of my comics, which had heroes based on my friends, and pleaded for me to make one based on him. I created Maestro, the lute slinging bard, and eventually came to like him so much that I made him an entire background in my Arcadia storyline.

Dr. Phillis' robots are humanoid and have faces because he believes it makes them far more intimidating. Their AIs are also based on this principle. If someone if fighting a robot that acts so human, they'll be unnerved, and won't know what to expect in tactics.

Dr. Phillis' favorite author is Ralph Waldo Emerson, as anyone in Superhero 101 will see soon enough.

Evil Jaredman once tried to free Charles Manson. He failed miserably. He also attempts almost anything metal music tells him to do, no matter how stupid or illogical.

Scaku can only talk to his father on the chaos plane, but his father can punish him from anywhere.
  15. Ah, do I have the perfect villainess for this one!

    Number one, baby!

YeaY! Reel Big Fish! I haven't heard these guys in forever! =p

Yay, another fan! Hermod introduced me to RBF with "Turn the Radio Off", a theme I've taken on for Dr. Phillis and one that inspired a wonderful music video in my head about Radio Free Opportunity! I love the guys so much, so many of their songs fit my characters!
  17. Okay, so I know Supervillain 101 isn't working anymore, but I do have a theme for it that I always thought fit it perfectly. All the infighting, the hatred, the private battles and arguments led me to this one song as the greatest and most fitting theme that could be for SV101! Ah, it makes me miss the RP, it's just too bad it had to go by the wayside due to lack of GM! Amos had so much more to tell....

As I was saying, the definate theme to Supervillain 101 is:

"We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful" by Reel Big Fish

Edit: Heh, I just looked a few pages back and noticed that Khel mentioned that "Hero" sounds like a Billyboy song, and I've totally got to agree! I love the first lines, it sounds just like him, and the crazy fast paced guitar fits him perfect.
  18. Lol, I've got way too much to tell, so I'll spare the lengthy stuff and make this actual tidbits.

My first super hero I ever created was Jaredman, who was based off of my best friend and starred in several five frame comics I made in my middle school assignment books.

Billyboy became Jaredman's sidekick in seventh grade when I wanted to throw in a character based off me. His powers were similar to Jaredman's, which were super generic, but he was also insanely popular and could fire dark attacks through his sunglasses.

Podo is based off a figure in a miniatures game called Mage Knight. Podo is the weakest figure in the game, starting off without being able to attack and dying after taking three hits.

The original antagonists of my Jaredman comics were the minions of Games Workshop.

Dr. Phillis was originally created to be someone I could blame my computer's terrible spyware problems on. He was a personification of the things I hated on the computer, and he somehow evolved into a character with a deep storyline.

Journey Man exists only because I threw on a bunch of random things and went to a super hero costume party two weeks ago, then gave myself a name and a backstory as quickly as I could. I ended up liking him and made him into a character, and now he's in A Simple Game.

The original city of Billyboy's origin was going to be Fort Wayne, Indiana, which is where I live, but after realizing how boring that would be I created an entirely new city.

The only people in RL who know about my stories are my father, my brother, and the guy I based Jaredman off of.
  19. Lol, that is awesome! These are really great, wonderful work!

I hope you don't mind me quoting Style! "The best offense is a grand entrance", that's just so me.
  20. By Shinji! It was a lot of fun RPing with you! You'll be dearly missed!
  21. ((OOC: The camera doesn't flash much, he tries his best not to effect the goings-on in any fashion, and flashes would definantly ruin a lot of the reality by drawing attention to Journey Man.))

The Journey Man shrugged. "Sorry, it's my duty as a member of the press to report the happenings and goings on fo the city, but if you'd really like to be left out, I could blur you and omit your name." he explained without really seeming at all concerned. "No need to get angry, buddy, I'm just doing my civil duty here."
  22. The Journey Man had somehow managed to snap some fantastic photos of the fall, but was feeling dazed as he got up again, taking pictues of the agitated heroes. Best part about a digital camera this nice: it could take thousands.

He examined the riddle, snapping some clear pictures of that as well before sitting back and watching as the heroes thought everything out. He took a small notebook and pen out of his pocket, writing down their suggestions.

"Maybe," the photojournalist piped up, "The door is locked from the inside, or the key is in the room." he suggested.

"Or maybe he had a very long straw." he mused to himself with a smile.
  23. The Journey Man nodded at the suggestion to keep going, he needed more action shots anyway. This story wasn't even worth printing at the rate things were going, and he hoped things heated up soon. He might have left if it weren't for the feeling in his gut. Something was going to happen, he just knew it, and he was going to see it.

He followed Cali, standing behind her as she let loose her sonic assault. In a fluid motion, he pulled a spray canister out of his pocket, one that looked like it might be some kind of spraypaint or cologne, but had a ring around it that seemed to be labeled with different markings. He turned the ring until it clicked into the right place and shook the can vigorously before stepping to the side and letting loose at the gangers.

A spray of misty green vapor surged forward from the canister, surrounding the Hellions and setting to work right away. The chemical weapon blurred their vision and set them off balance, which was always a plus when dealing with heroes who want more than a clinger-on.

The Journey Man adjusted the ring once again, shaking the can even harder before pointing it back at his allies and spraying them as well. Except, this time, instead of a biological weapon meant to harm, the vapor stimulated the heroes' senses, making them quicker and more aware. He took a moment to spray himself as well, taking care to get him armpits as well.

"Show me the money." he suggested as he grabbed his camera and got ready to document a serious beating.
  24. “Put the camera away?” The Journey Man asked, scratching his red bandana. “Why would I want to do that when the heroes are about to charge in?”

As the heroes set off in their different directions, the eager photojournalist raced after the only one he could actually follow: Hermod. As the only hero who was hoofing it, he became the primary target for land bound camera work. The Journey Man bounced behind him excitedly, keeping himself as far out of the action as possible while still managing to get great shots of Hermod’s work. The flashes had ceased, and the dull clicking of the camera couldn’t even be heard over the sound of burning building and combat.

Of course, one couldn’t get the best shots when they were all taken from behind. While the hero was busy fighting off one of the unlucky gangers, the Journey Man zipped around them and ran ahead, running backwards as he took pictures. He was sweating badly. It was one of those times he gave himself a mental pat on the head for buying the expensive lens.

He felt his back hit a wall, so he turned and ran on ahead through a side passage, leading himself through a corridor and a staircase. He shouldered open the door and rushed up as quickly as he could, following the sounds of intense combat. It sounded like the other heroes may not have gone too far up in the building, a big plus for him!

He ran up to the fourth floor, hoping he was right, and burst through once again, only to find himself facing a Hellion that seemed to be fleeing from something. They both stopped in their tracks and stared at one another for a brief period of silence.

“Are you one they missed?” The Journey Man asked, breaking the awkwardness.

The Hellion came forward, a crowbar in his hand ready to come down and take the photojournalist out.

“Say cheese, then!” the reporter smiled as he lifted his camera, snapping a picture. Except, unlike the other shots, this time the camera let out a blinding flash that assaulted the sight of the Hellion, robbing him of his sight momentarily, which was long enough for the Journey Man to duck out of the way and kick out behind himself, sending the ganger on a long tumble down the stairs.

“It’s so good to meet interesting new people.” The photojournalist smiled to himself as he ran farther onto the floor, finally reaching the group of heroes.

“Hold your fire, I’m with the independent press!” he explained loudly as he ran into the room, lifted his camera, and began taking pictures like a madman. “Just pretend I’m not here!”
  25. "A valiant trio of heroes arrives on the unexpected tragedy, only to discover that there may be more to this unfortunate incident than meets the eye!" the Journey Man said as he began snapping pictures of the three, moving around them. "Keep talking, just ignore the camera, nobody likes a hero who looks at the camera unless they're striking a flashy pose. I want to see how the events play out here. I'll follow whoever goes in first, I've got to see all of this."
