leach my mez protection from you. If i dont use my "mez attact" to steal your mez protection I dont have mez protection.

steal endo and health via trans's etc, etc.

Pointing out thematically that energy armor and "kinetics" are the same thing isnt "kinetic armor".
So... if I attack an enemy that lacks mez protection I get held all the time? I attack an enemy that lacks DR I have none?

    Good luck with that.
  3. I have no idea what the devs have planned for this incarnate system. The more I consider it, the more I just smirk.

However it turns out, Bill Z Bubba will continue to be min/maxed to hell and back and continue leaving a path destruction where ever he does roam.

Power creep took over this game a while back and I see no change in course. I fully expect that come 2 months after I-19 goes live, I'll be able to drop Bill into an aggro cap of +4/x8 arachnos and go have a cigarette.

But it was kinetic ARMOR peeps were clamoring for not kinetic MELEE!
As Umbral pointed out, we already have it with Energy Aura.

  7. Wow, she's hot.

No, I haven't met a real life version of my character. Devils don't exist.

Figured someone would eventually post what I had planned to.

I see no reason for them to change the level 50 unlock. It's not like it's difficult to hit 50.

However, I don't actually give a damn that they'll be doing it anyway.

My main was 50 when Kheldians hit live. My peacebringer hit 50 a few months later. It was awful. Kept him for a really long time. He's deleted now. My warshade still exists and is fun on teams, but I rarely play him. My only VEAT will probably get deleted at some point.

The epic archetypes aren't epic in any way. The stories sure as hell aren't epic. As a soloist, the powersets aren't epic.

So, yea... anyone getting overly bent out of shape about the devs letting them unlock at 20 instead of 50 really needs a readjustment in what they determine is important in life.

EDIT: Wow necroposting got me good.

    EDIT2:

The chime sound after EVERY attack actually gives me a migraine, its at just the wrong pitch, stacks and goes on for too long.
I replaced that sound with silence last time I tried to enjoy a PB. It helped a lot. But not enough to get past the overall *BLAH* of the archetype.

I doubt we will get a much more flexible system to pull IOs out without having them bound to an individual character.
I can't believe that the old mindset of "character locking" has any place in today's game.

At one point there were no respecifications at all, correct?

Then the hero side trial was added, and the story explanation was that being irradiated in the core altered your abilities. (Let's just ignore the fact that this turned EVERY hero that used it into a science origin character.)

Villain side shows up and they needed some kind of sister arc over there, so you go fight some magical plant based AV, which alters your powers. (sigh... thus making EVERY villain that used it into a magic origin character.)

Then IOs show up and we all start slapping them into our builds. ORIGIN BE DAMNED! Now Bill Z Bubba, Arch-Devil of Hell is jamming all sorts of tech gadgets, serums, cybernetics, etc, etc into his body.

But I can't yank them back out? I can't replace them on the fly in the same way I shoved them in there?

So, story-wise, the whole respec process is, for lack of a better word, fooey.

In my opinion, it's time to toss the old mindset out the same window that "1 hero = 3 minions" got tossed through.

This is a prime example of choice 2 in my last post.
  11. Sarrate,

I can't seem to agree that allowing the removal of all enhancements from a build to either store or sell would be anything but a good thing.

I'm not groking the whole "saturating the market" thing. As you state, I can do it now, but it costs me three respecs and the horrific waste of time that this is.

Instead, it would cost me one respec and waste far less time.

If this is possible now, why isn't the market saturated?

Granted, as always, I'm looking at it through my admittedly narrow field of vision. I have TWO characters with lots of setIOs. At best, my change would let be dump out all the basic IOs I have on character C and give them to character D.

What this would do would be to lower the demand on the market. Demand goes down, prices go down, newer, poorer players can start affording some of the better stuff.

Seem like a win/win to me.
  12. As usual, I find myself without a side to join... The devs are very guilty of allowing items to hit live that were brought up in beta that SHOULD have been corrected before going live.

    Stating otherwise is a lie.

However, having seen the devs admit things like "we didn't think it would turn out as badly as it did" or "we didn't have time to get that change in" or "I was out of the loop, had I been in the loop, this wouldn't have happened" shows that they know crap happens, people fark up, things get fixed later.

So we're left with three choices:

    Be a rabid fanboy that sticks up for the devs all the time;

    Be a trolling negative nelly that ignores everything the devs have done correctly and constantly harp on the few things they've done wrong or are *perceived* to have done wrong;

Or sit back and realize that **** happens, deal with it and if you can't, there's the door.

    I'll stick with choice three.

Since locking powers/sets/etc from being changed isn't an option, what do you think a good idea to make respeccing easier would be?
Burn and rebuild the respec system from scratch with completely new interface. Allow both the current "all powers then all slots" mode or "true level up" mode.

Allow removal and storage of all enhancements during respec. Note: Available enhancements slots = number of slots in build.

Allow transfer of enhancements between builds. (Move not copy)
  14. TGH got it. When you look at taskmanager, CHV no longer has focus. You'll have to seek elsewhere for the cause of your performance woes.

    I'd start with the following:
    Upgrade all drivers
    Defrag all drives
Verify all items in the registry currentversion/run keys that are starting at startup should be. Kill those that shouldn't be.
Same goes for items it startup directories for local user and all users
    Sweep for spyware

I personally think it would be worth it...knowing, that the time I put into this character, grinding and all that fun stuff to get my character where I want it to be, that it will never be changed.
That sounds boring as hell to me.

I've been playing since Sep of 04. My first character is <-----that guy over there and he still gets a lot of my gameplay. I would love it if we were granted unlimited respecs at 50. Why? Cuz I've used them all up. ALL of them.

Why? Partly due to changes forced upon me. ED, the GDN, the claws revamp part 1, the claws revamp part 2, the addition of IOs and again when new IOs are delivered.

It's also partly due my min/maxing attitude. The recent BotZ change will force me to respec again. Goody. Castle's already stated we're getting a freespec for it.

Change must occur in an MMO. If it doesn't, it will become stagnant, boring and die.

The devs know this. Your request will never come to pass.
  16. Because the devs are not gods of perfection and foresight with infinite amounts of time to consider all possible ramifications of every change made to the game.

Do you have any idea how many powers are in this game? How many variables might affect each power? How changing an animation on one power might affect the overall feel and performance of a set?

If you got your wish, and the devs stopped working on everything to put every bit of their bandwidth into powers/enhancements balance, we wouldn't see a new issue until sometime around 2013. And they'd end up laying off at least 75% of their employees that have absolutely nothing to do with powers balance because they'd be sitting around with their thumbs up their backsides not allowed to work on anything because of this mandate to push a balance issue.

No new powersets. No new content. No new events. Nothing. Nada.

In other words, your request is a colossal waste of resources.
  17. I think you'll get about as much traction on that request as a request to dedicate a whole issue to fixing performance issues in open zones.

    Meaning: None at all.

Game balance is an ongoing process. It will never be "finished."
  18. Quote:
Why wait -this- long to make a change in it? Hasn't BoTZ been around for at least two issues? Plenty of time to see that "oops. Silly overpowered bonuses. Let's fix that." Instead of waiting all this time to "fix" it.
He answered this in the OP:

    Quote:
This was mentioned by players way back when the set was first introduced, but at the time it was felt that the situation would be manageable. Time, however has proven that to be wrong and, as a result, we have had to take this step.
  19. Quote:
Players in the beta have pointed out that this change ought to result in the cost of the recipes being reduced, and that is something we are considering. It has also been pointed out that this change should necessitate a freespec be granted with I17, which we will be doing.
    Good.
  20. Not cheap. Going purely off memory, I think I paid 250mil. Granted, my memory sucks.
  21. Quote:
I understand all that. That's your main. I've done the same with my main character in tweaking to get it just right. Mids can't tell you everything about how a character will perform. I was commenting on the fact that he shouldn't need that many respecs on every single character.
Understood and agreed. Bill Z is the only character I have in that boat. However, my warshade isn't too far behind.
  22. Ok... all of the sudden the forums are broken again. Hitting save on a post edit does nothing.

Anyhoo, I've been using Mids since it was released.

    Dechs,

My main's last respec was with a recipe I had to buy off the market.

He has used all the trial respecs.
He has used every vet respec on a 57 month vet rewards account.
He has used every freebie respec.

The devs change this game all the time and usually those changes are cause for character respecs.

To the OP, I find 10 bucks of real money for a respec to be ridiculous. I will NEVER make that purchase. 10 bucks for 10 respecs, I might.
  24. As far as I'm aware, my brother (Green Dwarf on Pinnacle) was a co-founder of the super group H.O.P.E. at go-live.

The group is now dead with Bill Z Bubba as the current super leader. By dead, I mean it's me and a few my fellow forum tech heads using it for storage and teleportation.
