Lemme be the first to say - we need a PvP zone where such rules are implemented.
So many greens and BF's get popped in pvp it's beyond silly...

    but: Good Fight. Good Night.

Tyty, i'd be happy to duel you anyday... :P @darque fox if you wanna try one of my toons on for size.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    What servers are you on?
Most likely I'll get slaughtered, but that doesn't mean I won't try...would be nice to test out my fella 1v1 w/ ya (even though he's built for duo purposes - which is why I can/do make comments regarding pill popping)

Don't hate the player, hate the game. I know it sounds cheesy but it's true. Mez's are an "I win button" most of the time if you can get yours off before they get theirs off (Assuming you don't have status protection, like most ATs). Are you supposed to accept defeat every time you get held/disoriented? That sounds less like honor and more like stupidity.

I hate that all my "squishy" toons have to rely on an inspiration to be effective in PvP, but it isn't my fault, it's the game's...

I mean, just look at that fight against the Warshade. Aside from going into Dwarf Form (and not every AT has a dwarf form) did that Warshade have ANY chance whatsoever against an EM Brute without using Inspirations? Hell no. Inspirations are there as a balancing factor. It sucks, I know, but it's what we're stuck with.

    [/ QUOTE ]

1v1, yes, you're right. W/o insp's, the game is unbalanced. But, obviously, if there was a focus on teaming in such a pvp zone, then the "support" AT's could counter-act that necessity in having BF's/Greens (although, just as it already is, the squishies will still be Target No. 1 every time...)...The problem becomes that since insp's are available, an entire AT on each side becomes, effectively, 99% worthless (Trollers and Doms). Without the ability to "control" anything, what purpose do they serve in such zones? (It's similar to the argument vs. Hami right now - if he can still shoot a friggin' laser beam outta his..."pore"...while he is "held", doesn't it become a contradiction of the power?)

[Ed: Answer? They can sit in their repulsion bubbles pushing everyone else away and...um...er....uh...okay, that's about all they can do...)

I remember Mountains of Yserbius, off the Sierra network. Truly a dungeon crawl. THAT is old school (unless you are goign back to pong, which I had and also played ).

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was "Shadow of Yserbius", along with its "sequel", "Fates of Twinion". I had to get the single-player version of it to avoid the monthly dues since, for me, it was the only real worthwhile thing they had on The Sierra Network/ImagiNation Network. Sure, it was horrible solo, but I was hooked...eh...

How do these changes increase the risk getting a HO requires, for all those people who pop into the hive when their friends tell them he is held?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Because Hami can't be held now?

...or is it because he has a Friggin' Laser Beam on his "head"? That he can use while he is "held"?

Honestly, I feel sorry for the trollers...if they can no longer "control" the fight (as their name dictates), what use -if any- will they have now in Hami raids (aside from the /emp's for extra heal spams)???
  6. Geez, you hop in the forums just looking for the best Hover/Fly bind and next thing you know you're spending 2 hours reading this thread (btw, I *still* don't know how I came across this...). Anyways, my additions:

    DON'T:
--> TP ppl into drones in pvp - you're not getting any credit for the kill, and you just make it obvious that you don't know how to build/use your toon (we know Fire tanks have been nerfed all to the point of almost being worthless, but is this really all they're good for now? - and, yes, my friend got hit by one 3 times one nite)
--> think that just because you have a full end bar (because you aren't doing anything) that it means the rest of us are ready for the next mob (when our next 3 attacks = toggles dropped from lack of end)
--> join an sg/vg looking for a handout, to promptly quit the group 3 seconds later
--> kill the held/mezzed foe in the group. We held him for a reason: to keep him *out* of the fight so there's fewer ppl attacking us. Kill the *threats*, not the paperweight.
--> ask to join an *active* sg if you only play a couple hours over the weekend. The group is looking for ppl who will contribute to the group's growth, not to use as fillers.
--> make an sg/vg prior to using spell-checker. I don't know how many ppl I've wanted to feel sorry for because they were in "Satan's Vengince" or "Deth's (whatever)", but I couldn't because I realized that those same ppl were obviously dumb enough to join and stay in the sg/vg. How do you honestly expect to be taken seriously? (If it's misspelled for a reason, then by all means go ahead. But if it's strictly because some other group already took the proper spelling, then come up with new idea - this goes back to Grim_Fandango's post)
--> use Caps Lock. For anything. Anywhere. Please.
--> say "teh", or "pwnz". I know the Dev's went so far as to make a badge named "Pwnz" in CoH, but they also violated this thread by making a CoV mish where you find "\B4nKbUsTah\"... Just because somebody mistyped one day doesn't make it any cooler than the 10-year old's 1337-speak...

There was more I was going to add until seeing other ppl post it (tp'ing the lvl 30 toon because he/she didn't take a travel power, explicit comments about female toons played by -yup, you guessed it - another guy, etc.), so I guess that's all to my list of gripes.

Last thing I wanna say is that Zapgrrl's comment about Marilyn Manson, Eminem, etc. was funnier than s***...roflmao with that one...

    Badge Questions

so what's the word on villains getting CapBuster from the Pocket D mission? It seems Snaptooth counts for that, but not the other Redcaps? I don't want to kill Snaptooth 333 times.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is a bug that is making the CapBuster badge tracker show up for Villains. We are tracking this down.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Posi, before a *lot* of ppl waste a *lot* of time, can you confirm one way or the other as to whether or not Villains will/should be able to earn/keep the Cap Buster badge?

If we arent supposed to get it, then get rid of it now, before the jobless players have a chance to get it and the rest of us are left bending over. Otherwise, please fix it so all red caps count. Or at least assure us that you'll datamine down the road...

(All I know is that if I end up resetting a mish 333 times over the next 2 weeks - because I'm a sad little badge b*st*rd - for *nothing*, then NCSoft will have 1 less customer...)

    Badges

If you have Excel, I recommend downloading the badge_checklist.xls on the website (Vidiotmaps.com). Some information about bugged badges is listed in the file (so you don't pull out your hair trying to find out why you aren't getting some specific badge), whereas the website itself was not as up-to-date (last I checked, anyways).

    stupid badge

If you haven't done so yet, you may need to zone in order to receive it, similar to the "Spend 5 hours in a PvP zone" badges. Granted, they don't have progress bars like the Lackey'ing badge, but a number of badges are bugged at the moment, and it may be the issue with what you are trying to accomplish.
  10. I'm seriously shocked that *so* many people are complaining about the lack of infamy... I know I'm going to rephrase a bit here, but how do you folks think CoH was at its release? The only reason it has such an abundant economy is because it's been around for a year and a half. And just how many level 50's does it have now? Given that at roughly level 35, heroes start to actually earn "profits" (gaining more influence than they spend), it's no surprise that they are "disgustingly rich". And as has been stated prior, w/o CC's, handouts, and dumping on alts, CoH is also a struggle in terms of affording enhancements. Fine, so maybe it isn't *as* bad as in CoV, but you always have options. For those who are so frightened of out-leveling contacts, and those who have such a huge issue w/ debt not accruing(sp?) until level 10, one obvious answer for you: Malefactor (and btw, I find it sad that, as far as I can remember, this solution wasn't offered until the 10th page of this thread). By exemping down, so long as you're out of debt, it's *all* infamy. Fine, so you'll *temporarily* lose some of the latest powers you just obtained, but if it's so that you're able to afford SO's for those powers, is the trade-off not worth it? I firmly believe that, in about 6 months (tops), CoV will start having its own CC's and whatnot. As soon as we have a plethora of 40's (assuming the 40+ content isn't out by then, although, even then, the 40+'s will still be earning "profits"), the CoV economy will *begin* to rival that of CoH (I say "begin" only because CoH has such a head-start). I will say that I agree that heists should give more infamy (as a Villain, would I not be greedy and pocket some of that which I stole?), but otherwise things are just as they probably should be (maybe a few tweaks wouldn't hurt). Bottom line, imo, is that this is what you get for playing the game at its release.

On a side note, how about revamping the Prestige system since, even though the trade-off isn't quite worth it, heroes have a severe advantage over villains in that the horde of influence they've earned can be converted over (either give us more or reduce the prices of the necessities)?
(and yes, I know this comment belongs elsewhere, but it does have its relevance in regards to the struggling villains' financial standings)
