What damage type?
[/ QUOTE ]
Pansy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm. Is that Toxic damage, like Thorns, then?
[/ QUOTE ]
No one has +Res to Pansy. -

At higher levels Brutes get the power to summon Synapse and throw him at enemies as a range attack.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's an awesome epic pool.
Are there also powers to use Synapse as a shield, a doorstop, and a baseball bat? -
[ QUOTE ]
Note: Brutes really don't need to slot up a lot of damage. SMASH takes care of it. TO's should be acc, maybe a end redux or two to keep you going without resting, and keeping that end meter, and more importantly that fury meter up.
0.0 fury makes baby jebus cry.
[/ QUOTE ]
Three damage SOs means doing 200-400% base damage.
Zero damage SOs means doing 100-300% base damage.
Just saying. -
[ QUOTE ]
My advice, don't use your armors. Your attacks are your damage mitigation. Toggle defenses just drain your endurance, which means you have to rest more, which means you have lower fury, which means you do less damage, which means you get hit more by enemies.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is dangerous advice. The toggles don't drain all that much endurance to begin with, and the S/L toggles mean you're taking about 3/4 the damage without them. You can rely on dropped inspirations to keep you fighting, and sometimes shut off a toggle to get end back. Overall, however, my experience doesn't really support turning off the toggles, as I find that having low health can be worse at times than low end. And, there is nothing wrong with letting fury go down occasionally so you can be certain of surviving the next fight. -
[ QUOTE ]
Granted my Brute is only level 8, but currently he chomps down inspirations, has to use his self-heal every third battle or so, and in general isn't very effective in solo.
This is daunting me from playing the AT, so does it get better? All I hear about is how great Brutes are for Solo and I'm just not seeing it yet.
Discouraged and looking for answers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Please post your build, 'cause my SS/Inv soloed two elite bosses earlier. In each case, three lucks and one respite.
Also, post your normal tactics. -

Fire/Dark
Cliche "demon from the void" concept, but I like it. I'll roll with it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Dark/Fire, the other demon build.
Fire Aura doesn't obscure your costume so much as Dark Armor.
[/ QUOTE ]
Dark doesn't obscure it so much either, except with Cloak of Darkness.
Also, the graphics will be toned down at some point in the future, 'cause Dark is way too particle-intensive for the new graphic engine. -
Last night, I saw a Brute run straight out of Breakout, go to Nerva, and run the respec trial SOLO!!!!!one!

Do you really think they stand to lose more customers by opening the servers than not?
[/ QUOTE ]
You haven't established that they're losing any appreciable number of customers by opening the servers on Monday.
Or perhaps I should say, you haven't established that Cryptic is losing customers for launching an MMORPG in exactly the same way everyone else does it. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm gonna take a big risk here and guess you're not in marketing. When you have Blizzard dominating the MMO player base, and you find yourself in a situation where you're losing customers, the correct response is not "Here's a tissue". Its "how can we compansate so our majority of new customers aren't burned".
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the problem is that you're presenting the following argument:
1. I picked my game up on Friday
2. ...
3. Cryptic loses customers!
We're missing a really good reason as to why this is likely to happen. Are you assuming a legion of slavering fans who a) don't understand how head start works, and b) bought the game on Friday? -

Unless only certain stores were affected and they're only going to honor requests for people who bought their CEs at those stores?
[/ QUOTE ]
That's likely a concern. "Me too" syndrome can get expensive. Requiring a receipt also enables them to better track down how the problem occurred, as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, and now I have both my pre-order receipt (paid in full) and my sales receipt (picked up game), so I should be fine. -

I had no problem superspeeding into a hurricane and slaming Bone Smasher on the stormies, which usually disoriented them, allowing me to placate and then AS.
Usually you can get in and land a hit before being pushed away, so if you have a mezzing attack rush in and employ it, then placate and AS. AS doesn't always have to be your opening strike.
[/ QUOTE ]
I tried this several times in Siren's Call, and it failed every time. I simply was not able to get close enough to a storm defender to hit them.
[/ QUOTE ]
and you shouldn't be able to! At all!!!
I can't believe they did this *weeping*

I wonder what I should do, because my friend has (had?) my receipt..

If you have a valid code to activate your account, do you really need the receipt?

/em Coughs nervously while suggesting Ms Forum Cartel herself check out CuppaJo's post in the Announcements section...
Uh, I mean, WHAT Forum Cartel?!
[/ QUOTE ]
Damnit.
I'll have to contact Gamestop and see if it's possible to get one, as the only receipt in my bag was from Barnes & Noble for Web of Arachnos.
I do have my pre-order receipt, showing the product paid in full, though... -

Very disappointed. =( Anyone else have this problem ? any way someone can fix this travashamockery of packaging?
I want mah Ghost Widow!
[/ QUOTE ]
I just learned of this recently myself... we'll fix it. Keep an eye out for news on how- we're still trying to figure out what happened.

Thank you. Ghost Widow is the one I wanted most.
I'm sure you'll hear that a lot. -

Bug. We neglected to give Stalkers and Brutes the immunity to the Range Debuff that Scrappers and Tankers get. I fixed it internally yesterday...it'll hopefully make it to you folks "Soon(tm)"
[/ QUOTE ]
Honestly, I have never been able to hit a player with hurricane up with a scrapper or tanker...
[/ QUOTE ]
Incidentally, I was posting purely about PVE. I only know some of the situation regarding Hurricane's interactions in PVP. I was talking about fighting Tsoo and Banished Pantheon, and I don't understand relating that specifically to PVP. -

You know this was put in pre ED when a fully slotted hurricane made it impossible for the melee types to cap on a controller or defender with hurricane on. Since this is no longer the case and since you have to touch the affected indivduals with the hurricane to debuff them, could this "fix" get removed? It isn't necessary anymore
[/ QUOTE ]
This fix was made because two Hurricanes meant that melee characters could not attack at all. It happened in issue 2, before PVP was close to being implemented in the arena or CoV.
That has not changed.
Also, in PvP, Hurricanes continue to debuff for 10 seconds after you're in it, which makes it even easier to debuff melee ATs to zero range than it is in PVE, where the debuff only lasts while you're in the hurricane.
So, anyway, I don't see any reason to remove the fix. -

While in beta, I noticed that Tsoo sorcerers were debuffing my Brute's range, which is something Scrappers and Tankers are not vulnerable to. I bugged it and PM'd Jonyu about it, but I don't know if the matter got any attention. PlasmaStream tried as well, and found that hurricane debuffed Stalker range.
when CoV is live, can people watch for this?
[/ QUOTE ]
Unless it got screwed up again (in the initial release of CoH, it was, makeing killing a pair of Scorcerers solo pragmatically IMPOSSIBLE for any melee class...what, between not being able to attack them, and their inscessent healing of one another and all), NO melee attack should be effected by the range debuff.
[/ QUOTE ]
It did, per Castle. I was looking for it in beta (and bugged it when I found it) because I knew it was not defined by attack type, but by the AT making the attack...which is why blaster melee is debuffed, and scrapper ranged is not. -

Hey,
I also rolled up a Stormie for fun in the Bloody Bay event. "Boltz." First time I've played with Hurricane.
Holy Moley! Linked with Superspeed, I was zipping about scattering villains like bingo-balls. Eventually someone in the horde would use a ranged Mez on me and blow me away, true.
If anybody knows how to turn off that toggle as a melee AT, I'd sure like to know.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's easy.
Ask your Controller friend to hold the stormy. Even though the stormy will probably hit a break free as soon as the word "Held" appears in the status bar, it takes a bit of time for Hurricane to recharge.
More seriously, I dunno. If you have Stone Melee, Fault is a ranged disorient. -

I just walked into the hurrican and AS.
[/ QUOTE ]
Even if you overcame the repel aspect, wouldn't AS be interrupted?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, if so...it never did in Beta PvP events. Maybe once the repel effect cannot hit you, you are safe from it?
[/ QUOTE ]
I was never able to overcome the repel effect, and was unable to AS storm defenders or controllers. I did try, too, with Energy Aura and Ninjitsu. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well i noticed that with my claw/nin stalker, hurrican was a pain....I could not get in and AS them. Now with my other buildI just walked into the hurrican and AS. So really no problem. There is ALWAYS a way around everything. As far as debuffing....I wouold think that it would debuff a Cor due to its a hybrid, so not really going to follow the rules of tank/scraps.....I could be wrong though.
[/ QUOTE ]
The reason that the range debuff does not work on Tankers and Scrappers is because they are melee ATs and most of their powers have a range of 5 feet. Two hurricanes meant you could never attack at all. The same reasons exist for Brutes and Stalkers. -

For both beta events, I set my graphics settings to minimum (except for textures, because I hate the low and medium quality textures). I experienced very little lag - usually, it was just powers appearing recharged when the server thought they weren't (and at that, usually bean bag and not any of my other powers).

OK - here's the most likely outcome...
If you own both games, you get all options - the new CoV sets will be accessible for your heroes.

Via les Faultine Trial!
afterall, they want good/evil to obvious on sight (cause that always works in the movies) in the PvP zones.

'lookit 'em skulls on that sucker! It must be a Villian! It's Coming right for us!'
