Quote:Well, not to sound rude in my reply, but I'm correct in my post. Rank means nothing. You can test this yourself if you'd like.I am not 100% sure, but I think this is inaccurate. I was fairly sure that rank of enemy WAS a determining factor in where an enemy was placed on one's threat list... and that the ones on the bottom dropped off first. Of course, that is not the ONLY factor, so in practice it may not work that way. Of course, I could be totally full of it.
Grab any map you wish, change difficulty so that you are fighting bosses then proceed to grab agro on 1 or 2 groups depending on your team size. Then once you have agro cap, go to another group, then stand there and wait for the previous 17 to come to you. Punch one of the Minions, or LT thats are just standing there doing nothing. You will see that you will gain their agro and one of the previous you had agroed will walk away from you. Then punch another standing there and watch it repeat itself.
What most people may be seeing including yourself is a damage aura actually hitting one of the bosses thus making you think that the Boss take priority over the lower ranked enemies in that group. -
Quote:It's no different then someone power leveling a character. Someone such as myself who power levels my next alt, doesn't play the low weaker levels anyway. Honestly, I could care less if this feature was added, no matter how I look at things, I will just power level my specific AT and powersets I want, no need for paying to do a power respec for "me"Because it would be HIGHLY gameable.
Example:
A Stone tank is one of the hardest things in the game to kill after it hits level 32 and gets Granite Armor. The price the powerset as a whole pays for that is being relatively weak until it gets to that point.
Now, if you could level that tank as a WP/DM, which levels very quickly, you could skip past the weak levels of Stone Armor and jump right in at level 34, when you can have fully slotted Granite Armor.
You've just bypassed the weaker early levels, which is that powerset's price for being so powerful later.
Or you could solo level a Mind/Kin controller (which solos fairly well), and then respec into Fire/Kin after Fulcrum Shift becomes available.
Or level a /Regen scrapper (which is strong in the early game) and respec into SR or Shield (which are endgame powerhouses)
Or a Claws/WP brute being respecced into an SS/Fire brute for level 50 fire ambush farming.
Basically, it comes down to the fact that all of the powersets in the game are balanced that way. If that set is extremely powerful in the late game, it struggles in the early game. If you could switch your powersets after leveling, you could get the good (late game power) without the bad (early game weakness).
So what's the difference if I play a weaker set up to 50 and then do the power respec? I've still played it up. And like I said previously, only allow the power respec at level 50 and to VIPs only. -
Actually it doesn't matter whether it's a Minion, LT or boss, when you have the agro cap of 17 following you, and you hit any other target, that particular enemy will grab agro on you and you will lose one of the previously agroed enemies.
Now, if you can defeat the first 17 mobs fast enough, you can then cause a agro chain as I like to call it, meaning if you agro more than the 17 you can agro, and pull them into another group and throw off a taunt, then go around a corner and defeat the first 17 fast, then the next group that you taunted will come at you as well. Because your taunt has a pretty long duration, and by defeating the first 17 the taunt effect is still lingering allowing the second group to come to you.
Ambushes work differently. If you trigger the ambush, the ambush will stay on you as long as you don't die. Meaning if you trigger 4 ambushes and the first 17 come at you, when you defeat them the next 17 will come and so on. And you don't have to taunt a single one of them. -
Quote:I've never seen that happen either and I do a lot of farming.I've never seen that happen, and I actually have experience showing the opposite. Aggroing 17 rikti monkeys and then running into a new spawn, no reaction from any mob of the new group until I punch or taunt one of them, at which point one rikti monkey will back away to his spawn point.

You and I both. Then again, it may not be as bad once all the trials are out. And hopefully with the new upcoming Incrnate missions tht were mentioned will reward us in some way.

Quote:Don't be upset, not everyone can play the game as much as some. But I feel your pain, a friend of mine can't afford to play as much either and he barely has enough to get maybe 1-2 pieces when it goes live.Good for you. I only get to play 1 or 2 nights a week now, and half the time I'm on too late to catch the trial crowd.
It would be nice if they made just the iTrials cross server, but I know that's not on the horizon anytime soon. But something we may see eventually. -
Quote:With the new Paragon Reward system coming with i21, you can get the reveal power which will solve your issueExploration and History badges made account-wide or something along those lines.
an option to REMOVE THAT DAMN FOG OF WAR ON MY MINIMAP.
OH GOD GET IT OFF PLEASE...
or make it account-wide.
I'm already spending a good amount of time in this game, please don't make me run around a zone for some 'quality of life' stuff. ESPECIALLY if it's that damn fog of war!
I swear, if that tutorial map was used more than twice throughout the game... I'd have to explore it too...
Other than that, eh, badges, costumes, allow the vet badges and rewards to be purchasable only, and I mean ONLY, when an account would have normally been eligible for it had the Veteran Reward system been in place (aka you pay for 9 month, you can get the 9 month rewards. You don't, well you don't get them!). Hell, I'd like to see those rewarded as they are now, but eh, you greedy people wouldn't like that!
Did I mention costumes, auras, unmatched accessories, NPC costumes, that witch hat, more costumes, animations and much more?
Well, I wouldn't pay loads for them, or double my subscription, but I'd surely spend my points on those. -
I've had this problem too several times. I think it's a glitch in the zoning that is causing this. I notice it alot when I am running my farm map and I know the mobs I fight don't have any slows. I fight Nemesis and sometimes fire demons and neither have any slows that would cause my domination to drop.
So it's not just you who is seeing this. -
Quote:I have enough on my main to get all of it and with plenty astrals and e merits to spareYou don't have to use just one character to buy everything.
Ascension for 10 Astral Merits x 7 items. 70 Astral Merits total or 10 Astral Merits from 7 characters.
Radiance for 6 Empyrean Merits x 6 items. 36 Empyrean Merits total or 6 Empyrean Merits from 6 characters.
Emotes for 10 Astral Merits x 4 items. 40 Astral Merits total or 10 Astral Merits from 4 characters.
Emblems 1 Astral Merits x 15 items. 15 Astral Merits total or 1 Astral Merit from 15 characters.
Costume Change Emotes for 3 Empyrean Merits x 5 items. 15 Empyrean Merits total or 3 Empyrean Merits from 5 characters.
Auras for 10 Astral Merits x 8 items. 80 Astral Merits total or 10 Astral Merits from 8 characters.
Path Auras for 3 Empyrean Merits x 6 items. Empyrean Merits total or 3 Empyrean Merits from 6 characters.
All these items are GLOBAL unlocks, so it doesn't matter if you use one or 50 characters to unlock them. -
Well, thanks to whoever received or found this info. But for those who woud like to read here is the quote...
Quote:So by purchasing a subscription it seems you get Reward Tokens which can be used in the new reward system. And by purchasing Paragon Points you earn Reward Tokens. So putting the subscription aside, just by purchasing Paragon Points earning the bonus Reward Tokens allows you to unlock the rewards thus giving you the badges,On a similar note in the future should you chose to continue the yearly sub, you will be allocated ALL of your Paragon Reward Tokens to spend up front for the year instead of having to wait for monthly rewards as the current veteran rewards program works.
So yes, you can indirectly purchase the Veteran Badges, but you can't just buy them from the Paragon Market. And I'm totally fine with this. I'm not upset nor depressed about it. I actually like the idea that you can do this, now people can get caught up if they so chose and can get what perks they want by unlocking the badge. Now unless you can get the perk without unlocking the badge then that's even better -
Quote:Well, I guess that answers our question. From the initial post announcing Freedom
So, you get Reward Tokens over time for subscribing and Reward Tokens for buying PP. Also, if you subscribe for a year (and pay up front), you'll get all 12 reward tokens right away, without having to wait.
So, Reward Tokens seem to be directly linked to the amount of money you have put into the game. (i.e. Vet rewards where the time element is removed) So, it seems the old vet rewards will be indirectly buyable.
Thanks for the quote linking to that information Dr_Darkspeed. -
Quote:You know, we've heard this story many times before and we managed to all get along and do our thing. They moaned about this about people asking for Power leveling teams in PI, we got along, then many missions that were bugged giving large amounts of XP, people were forming Power Leveling teams, and yet we managed to get along. Then came the AE and we've been Power leveling since day 1 and yet we all still managed to get along and play the game. But that is the prime concern.
level 50s running around with no clue how to play their characters well will be excluded by the playerbase when ti comes to end-game content, especially the harder stuff.
People that get excluded will become frustrated with the game and stop playing, so the Devs get less money.
Now it won't just be individuals that have paid for this aswell that get excluded, but new players whos general game knowledge was quite low will also get excluded if they underperform because people will think they have paid for this.
Quote:Eventually a level of elitism evolves whereby people only trust playing with people they have been playing with a while. The playerbase and endgame become stagnant, more people leave and the game deterioates.
If not for some of these so called Elitism Groups a lot of the end game would be stagnant. I hate to pat my group on the back, but if not for y group Pinnacle wouldn't be doing Hami Raids every 2 weeks. We set the pace for how the Lambda and BAF trials our run on our server. So in a sense group such as mine are very liked and welcomed to many servers, and other people appreciate tight close groups like ours.
The point is I see power leveling on a daily basis and yet none of this comes to mind at all. It may be true to an extent, but it's not the main reason why this wouldn't happen, far from it to be honest. And besides, if this feature was only available to subbed players on characters that are only level 50 is would solve the little problem you mentioned. -
Ok on the second day of uStream there was a very short segment that mentioned they will not be selling badges. So that answers the question of will the store sell badges directly. And the answer was no.
Now the only question left is... If you can't use the points to buy badges directly, which was already established. I would have to say the badges can be awarded through the Tiered / Tree System. Which would mean using Reward Tokens. Now depending on how these Tokens are obtained will answer the question if we can still in a indirect way buying them.
For example...- Are we awarded reward tokens each month for being a ViP? If not, how do we get them?
- Can you convert Paragon Points to Reward Tokens?
- Can Tokens be bought directly?
- Do you have to buy (X) amount of Paragon Points to earn a Reward Token?
- Do you have to spend (X) amount of Paragon Points to earn the Reward Tokens.
If questions 2-5 yields a yes answer then that'll tell us we can in fact buy the Vet badges in a indirect way. Meaning if I dump enough money into the new Paragon Market, I could in a indirect way purchase all of the Vet badges on a new account. -
Quote:Yeah, since they are building a new Paragon market, it would be nice if they add a shopping cart to the system. It be nice to purchase more than 1 thing per day.Of course you don't need to unlock everything. Do you think I ever used Fairy or Cherub wings on my characters? Or anything at all from the Animal Pack?
I just want everything unlocked, even if I'm not going to use it. Which is why NCsoft will get a lot more money from me -- unless they decide to put the same dumb IP block they have in the NCsoft store in the ingame store. -
Quote:Wow you beat me to it.Is the Positron quote w/ context. My read on it is pretty much only speculation at this point, I can see arguments made pretty easily for either indirect purchase of the badge or maintaining the status quo. My personally perception is that they'll either be directly purchasable or indirectly purchasable.
I would still appreciate a timestamp for a ustream claim though.
But I will agree with that statement. As you see my statement above was pretty much what you think -
Quote:Way to be a jerk. You aren't even the O.P., so why does what you prefer matter?
I wasn't being a jerk, but I could see how that could come across as being snippy. It wasn't intended that way at all. But thanks for the vote of confidence.
Quote:fact, i think it was said several times during ustream chats and i think somewhere in that massive discussion thread (pretty sure posi was the one who said it in the thread)
I've yet to see a redname say yes, you can or no you can't. It's all speculation, just like I speculate that you will be able to buy them either directly or indirectly with the Paragon Points and or the Reward Tokens. But from what I've gathered is, no one has the answer to this as of yet. So I will sit here and wait for that answer from a redname.
But please, if you can provide a direct link to a redname stating you can not directly or indirectly purchase these badges, please provide me and everyone else the link. I think many of us would like to know. -

Honestly, why would I pay 5, 10 ,15 or 20 dollars or more for this when I can simply power level a new character with the power sets I want in less then a day?
I see no need for it, but I could understand maybe someone with a main badge hunter that don't want to lose their badges and whatnot in order to switch to another power set because they don't like their current primary or secondary.
I would like in on one of my mains, so I wouldn't mind it, but I could do without. -

Quote:They're all global with the exception of the Ascension Armor Set which is global and limited to only your level 50 toons.
Global pieces disappear from the menu when you purchase them.
What is not global is the early-unlock for capes and auras so that they would be accessible at level 1 on an alt instead of levels 20 and 30.
Quote:Not global:- An 18 threads Voucher redeemable on one character.
- A Incarnate Shard redeemable on one character.
- An Empyrean Merit -> 1 Astral Merit conversion. (Seriously Devs, what the heck are you thinking for this one?)
- Four Incarnate Threads redeemable on one character.
- An Astral->Reward Merit conversion.
- Incarnate Unlock redeemable on one character.
- Cape Unlock redeemable on one character.
- Auras Unlock redeemable on one character.
- Super Inspirations for current character.
- All Set IO (Standard/Purple/PVPIO) Recipes.
I've logged on test and bought a few things and yes, they did get removed from the list. Which is great. As I planned on using multiple characters to buy what was available and i was not wanting to buy things twice, so that works out. -
Quote:So is it safe to say all costume pieces are global and will be removed once I purchase one of the pieces. So we know what is global and what isn't?Yes, for global unlocks, the item gets removed from the list after you buy it. You will then get certificate. The first time you select a certificate you can ask for a refund. If you claim the certificate, then the option to refund the item isn't available any more. On subsequent characters if you accidentally delete the certificate before claiming it, it will re-appear in the certificate list to be claimed.
-
For those who have purchased these on Test, can you answer if when you make a purchase, does that item you purchased get removed from the list? That way you know you've unlocked it?
I could see this being a pain if you're playing multiple characters and buying things from multiple characters. -
Quote:This and the ability to buy the Passport badge. Or finally tie the badge to a server transfer purchase w/ Passport badge and sell it a bit more than a standard server transfer.Badges. In particular, I hope Celebrant is made buyable to accounts that are old enough. I started playing in May 2005 but none of my characters have that badge.
Example:
Server Transfer - 100 Paragon Points
Server Transfer w/ Passport badge - 250 Paragon Points
Something like that, of course with different values to the devs liking. -
I never said I was upset about it.
But I guess we'll find out for sure when it goes live. All of this is all speculation until we get a for sure statement on all of it. I'm just guessing from what I've read that youcan, but I may be wrong. So we shall see.
