  3. The Animal Pack comes out tomorrow, and we know you've all been chomping at the bit (that's a horse-related pun, see?) to get your hands on all the new costume options. But what's that, you say? You want MORE chances to win a free Animal Pack booster? You got it, courtesy of PC Gamer!

PC Gamer has 20 Animal Pack codes up for grabs that they'll be giving away tomorrow at 10 AM PST, February 23rd. To enter to win a code, visit their site and post a comment with what animal YOU think would make the scariest villain, and what their signature attack, pose, and catchphrase would be. PC Gamer will pick their favorite entries and e-mail the codes Wednesday morning!

Head over to PC Gamer now and start brainstorming those animal villains, but don't mole over it too long! (Yeah, that was pretty bad. Please just bear with the terrible puns for one more day.)

You can also discuss the giveaway on the forums here.

No, the date of the rewards is still the same. We're just giving players an extra two weeks to sign up and get them!
  10. We announced last week that the Seven Years of Super Rewards loyalty program would begin on February 1, and end on April 18. But then we thought, "Hey, what good are rewards if everyone can't get a shot at them?" So because some of you might not have seen Tuesday's announcement or received our City of Heroes newsletter, we've set up a grace period of two weeks--which means the loyalty program will officially start on FEBRUARY 14, 2011. Players who keep an unbroken subscription from February 14 (12:01 a.m. EST / 5:01 a.m. GMT) to April 18 (11:59 p.m. EST / 4:59 a.m. GMT) will now earn the Seven Years of Super Rewards...rewards!

So be sure to have an active subscription from February 14th, and enjoy the rewards come April 28th!

I'm hard-pressed to think of a single instance where an 80s cartoon property was rebooted and it wasn't handled with care--and, dare I say it, sometimes came out a lot better than the source material. The people who reboot these shows, thus far, obviously have a lot of love for these series and have done right by them.

I say, give 'em more. Reboot Centurions. Reboot Bravestarr. Reboot Bionic Six. Reboot M.A.S.K. Reboot Jem--well okay, no, don't reboot Jem. It's too fantastically 80s and it should be left preserved in all its glitz and glam awesomeness.

MTV: Another thing everyone's asking about is the characters we don't see in the new image. What's up with Snarf, or WilyKit and WilyKat? Will we see them soon?

SPAULDING: Yeah, you'll see them. We're going to slowly reveal that stuff. Rest assured, they're in there, and they look great. They're redesigned in a little different way, though, and you'll see what I mean when it comes time to reveal them.
It makes it sound as if Wilykit and Wilykat are going to look different than the rest of the Thunderians--if they even are Thunderians.

I'm also eager to see how Studio 4c does MUMM-RA, THE EVERRRRRRRRRR LIVIIIIIIIIING.
  14. Man, and I thought I had it rough on calorie-counting to get in shape.

With regards to the movie itself, I'm actually intrigued about the plot. Wolverine's had a long history with Japan, and this is something that (as far as I'm aware) hasn't been touched on in the movies. I'm curious who the love interest is going to be. Could be Mariko. Or Itsu. Or Atsuko.
  15. As City of Heroes enters its 7th year, we'd like to remind you all that players who continue their subscriptions from today, February 1st, 2011 (12:01 a.m. EST / 5:01 a.m. GMT / 6:01 CET), up to April 18th, 2011 (11:59 p.m. EST / 4:59 a.m. GMT / 5:59 CET), will receive our Seven Years of Super Rewards bonuses, which includes the Seven Stars chest emblem, "The Constant" badge, a Loyalty emote, and the Vanguard Booster Pack, which will unlock all the Vanguard costume pieces account-wide on all of your characters, and grants the Vanguard costume change emote and a unique, non-combat pet.

We at Paragon would like to thank you all for your continued loyalty in helping make City of Heroes the most "super" MMO. For those of you who subscribe through April, enjoy the rewards--you've earned them!

  16. Convention time is fast approaching, so we're kicking off 2011 with a return to PAX East in Boston, Massachusetts! Last year was our first foray into the East Coast convention scene, and we had such a great time we couldn't wait to come back. This year once again, we’re planning a panel, prizes, and the chance to hang out with representatives of the developer and community teams from Paragon Studios.

Here's what we have in store:

To start things off, we wanted to let you know that Friday, March 11 at 10:30 AM, Paragon's own Matt "Positron" Miller will be on a Newsarama panel entitled, "Game Comics: Lifting the Curse," where Matt and other panelists will discuss what the pitfalls of video game-based comic books currently are, how to make them better, and what the future of this subgenre could be.

Then, on Friday night, we'll be hosting a combined NCsoft Meet and Greet with Aion and Guild Wars. There will plenty of fun and socializing, not to mention an awesome raffle where fantastic prizes will be up for grabs…if you have the right ticket, of course!

    Here are the exact details:

What:=red> NCsoft PAX East Meet and Greet

Because this event free to our players, please keep in mind admission will be granted to the capacity of the venue.

As anyone who’s attended one of our events before knows, Meet and Greets just wouldn’t be the same without giveaways, so City of Heroes players who attend the event will be rewarded with their choice of one of the following costume powers:

          • Meat Doctor Costume Inherent Power
          • Rikti Mentalist Costume Inherent Power
          • Praetorian Police Costume Inherent Power

Last but certainly not least, CoH will be throwing a panel stacked with members of our Dev Team on the Saturday of PAX East weekend, so if you’re considering whether or not to attend the convention based on our participation, go ahead and buy your tickets! Here is the info we currently have to share about the panel session (more specifics coming soon!):

  18. I'm really going to miss Wizard's ToyFare magazine. Although I admittedly haven't read the publication in awhile, I have fond memories of sitting cross-legged in the magazine aisle of my local bookstore, giggling like an idiot at the toy-related humor.

    So long, Mego Spidey comics.

  20. XP is good. Double XP is even better! Starting today at 9:00 AM PST (12:00 PM EST / 5:00 PM GMT / 6:00 PM CET), all heroes, villains, rogues and vigilantes will receive double the experience, double the influence, and double the prestige, for the entire weekend! That's right, from today until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2011 (Monday, January 31 at 2:59 AM EST / 7:59 AM GMT / 8:59 AM CET), you'll receive double the rewards for defeating enemies, completing missions, and collecting badges that give XP!

With double the experience, now is the perfect time to level towards 50, try out some new builds, and--for those of you with severe alt-itis--buff up some of those characters you've had on the backburner.

So what are you waiting for? Hop in game and start reaping double the rewards!
