My Peacebringer got the "Kaolin Legacy of Earth" badge doing that mission... (he also got the badges he was supposed to get)
I thought it was a villain badge...
None of my other Alts got that badge.
Also... he has a "Lanista" badge but I never even once fought a gladiator battle.
[/ QUOTE ]
Lanista is bugged to hell. I was doing glads with a buddy on an alt. It was his first gladiator match. To say I got owned would be being nice. Not only did I get the 'win' credit I got lanista. Needless to say he was ticket because it muffed up his perfect record on his main lol. But yeah something is screwey with Lanista.
Not sure what requirements are for the Kaolin. A couple of my toons got him as I logged on so assuming he's tied to another badge they might have already had or a kill count they had met.
[/ QUOTE ]
The Kaolin badge should be tied to the "Have 25 badges" Badge. (it's still early for me, but might be tied to the 10 badges badge).
Lanista is tied to your first Glad match win. Doesn't have to be rated.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah but it says you have WON your first glad match. I didn't win. I lost. I lost badly. I lost every glad I had... none of his were dead. There was no questioning who won. So it must be tied to your first glad match period and is bugged or the text for the badge is wrong.
HOWEVER... besides that... *I* got the rating for it. Again... I lost. I lost bad. I had 0 glads he had all of his left.
My theory: Lanist is bugged. Instead of awarding on your first win it awards after your first match. Lanista it tied to WINNING. Bug kicks in, awards Lanista, Lanista tells the system you won. If this is even remotely possible I don't know but would explain how I got the cred for winning. -

I gotta admit though that is sorta shady, adding the gladiator after the badge isn't available anymore.
I have Toy Collector on my villain an hero mains so I have no reason to complain about it being handed out but yeah I'm not a fan of all this secret badge stuff then telling people about rewards that were unknown for the most part and/or broken at the time...

I'm a huge badge collector but other things kept me away from getting Toy Collector. Had I know I'd have done some rescheduling or stayed up an extra hour or two every night until I got it. After all... what's "one" badge? ::
-
Well not that anyone is commenting on my Veluta posts but there's definately an issue there that needs to be resolved and I'd like to keep everyone updated.
We got the second ghost badge (at level 21) and she won't talk to us.
I'm going to take my roomies alt (who's only 3) and get him both badges with my (now) 23. He'll go to her every time he levels.
If the email I was sent is right she won't talk to him until he's 10. If that's the case (he'll have both badges) we'll have to see what she does.
If she send him on the Phil (copy of files) arc then she's broken. Her first arc doesn't trigger. If she gives him both then the FIRST arc requires the SECOND badge and vice versa. If she talks to him at 5 then either she's ONLY open for the arcs at 5 and then 10 or there's something else screwy there altogether.
Keep ya' updated. -
Okay two ideas for you guys to toss around:
New power pool:
(Note on availability to keep it 'fair'. It does not unlock until level 14. However, if you've hit 50 any new toons you take can take it at 1 or 6 as normal akin to the Kheldians. Also it wouldn't have the prerequsite component like the other pools. So you could take the 4th power first if you want.)
Power Pool Travel
-Super Jump
-Super Speed
-Teleport
-Fly
There... now in one pool you've got access to the entire string of travel powers. It's not entirely unreasonable to think a super hero might specialize in 'warping' the universe around them. Look at */grav/* toons.
Any of the travel powers could work in their favor:
Super Speed:
-They modify the gravity around their body so they are 'falling' forward instead of being pulled down.
Super Jump:
-They reduce the gravity around their body to something akin to the moon allowing them to super-jump.
Fly:
-They manipulate the gravity around their body to fly through the air.
Teleport:
-They create a 'personal' wormhole. (Theoretically 'real' wormholes are created when two blackholes collide. They then 'pull' the space between them as they move away from each other creating the 'hole' in space.)
Magic origic:
Nuff said, it's magic.
A seperate pool containing all the travel powers would let someone take any/all of the TP's without having to take other pools.
The second idea: stacking.
If I opt to take SS and Fly, let the SS speed affect my flight speed. I know this wouldn't allow for complete stacking (IE: Flight and SJ are kinda' exclusive) but it would allow people to take the vert/safety of fly with the speed of SS. It would balance itself by the fact that you'd need to take *4* powers to have high-speed flight.
Thoughts? -

Hello Point of Balance,
Thank you for taking the time to write in to PlayNC Support. Regarding your Veluta issue, unfortunately both of her storyarcs are the set at the same threat level and it appears that you have already progressed beyond these tasks. So unfortunately you will not be offered this second group of missions. If you have any other questions or comments please feel free to contact us again.

I went to Veluta at 9 with PIRATE, said come back at 10. We did, did phil arc (had to do it twice), got souvie for that but she won't talk to us now for other arc for that souvie.
[/ QUOTE ]
So what this is saying is that if you level doing one story arc (which we got TWO levels off of it the FIRST time, not counting the second time we had to run it to actually get the souvie) then you bonk yourself right out of range for the other arc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Did you try going back to her since they switched her to a lvl 10-15 contact?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, this was about a week ago. In fact their response implies that she is NOT a level 10-15 contact. Since you can only get the missions at one level (in our case we were 10) then she can't possibly be 10-15.
[/ QUOTE ]
She's lvl 10-15 now I am doing her first arc with my dominator.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not according to my email she's not. The email from support clearly said she gives both arcs AT THE SAME LEVEL. We were ten implying she's a level 10 contact.
She was SUPPOSEDLY a 10-15 when we first talked to her. And unless the PIECE OF SPIRIT WORLD or whatever arc requires the 100-kill badge then something is wrong with is since she wouldn't talk to us at 9 with pirate and gave us the supposed second arc at 10.
Also considering we had to do the arc twice says she's broken ANYWAY. -

As my post says above...
We had pirate, went to her at 9, she refused to talk to us. Went back at 10, completed Phil arc and nothing. She restared us on that arc, had to re-do like 3 of the missions and voila we get the File's souvineer.
Now she won't talk to us at all for the other arc.
What's the deal? Maybe you need the second badge for the first arc and the first badge for the second arc? -
[ QUOTE ]
You forgot that not only did Leroy die he took the whole raid group with him.
But back to Defiance, okay some of have provided numbers. But I would still say that instead of getting yourself do to less than to 50% health so you can have a chance at one shotting a mob, why don't you just kill the mob quickly and not take any damage.
I have found that doing the latter will keep you playing longer and will not cause you a possible death.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes obviously that's the best way to play but then that would make our inherint useless.
It's not about being able to 1-shot mobs. It's about having an inherint unique to blaster that's useFUL.
Heck I'd even love to see (but know this is way out of bounds for what they'd probably do) something like fury. However being solely damage based (and NOT linked to health.) The more damage you take the higher the bar builds (and depletes just as rapidly as fury.)
The depletion speed would help keep it under control and since it's damage based (and not attack attempt/dealt based) it'd require us to be taking damage and thus endangering our lives to use it.
"I stand up to you in defiance of the damage you are inflicting to me!" or something appropriately corny. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well, I for one thing find the "skill" useless MOST of the time because about the time I start getting it to where it's giving me some useful output, I am already dead.
Personally, I always thought it should scale exactly proportional to the HP bar, as the hp bar goes down, the defiance bar should go up. (i.e. each one pass the other exactly at 50%, etc)
I have never lived long enough for it to actually really help a group because I am SO squishy, I just get dropped or stunned and then dropped before I can get a cast off to notice any dmg output increase.
My perspective has always been increased damage as my health fades so I can "increase my output" and try to save a dying group, but alas, this just isn't the case, I just die along with them and if I am really lucky, I might get a shot off that has useful damage. I am better off just dying and letting a rad person use me for fallout.
Speaking of quirks that never get looked at, how come when I fight something that does the "earthquake" power thing, I kill the NPC but the earthquake continues to grief me for 15 seconds, but yet I cast blizzard and as soon as I die blizzard stops. In case the devs missed it, Blizzard is NOT a toggle, it's a cast and as soon as I die, it's already snowing, so it should run its cycle, regardless.
Just put that as a note in your hip pocket of things that'll never get fixed...
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah what you're saying makes sense. I get what they're thinking in CONCEPT. I know what their mining has shown... however in MY reality... defiance doesn't make enough of a difference (with enough health remaining to use it) to make a difference.
When my health is low enough where my shots are really making a difference... I either die or have to take a pill. I take a pill and wham my health shoots up enough to take the bite out of defiance.
I'm not saying they need to make an EXTREME change... but defiance doesn't help until you're on the rail... (great in concept bad in implemenation.) I think the scaling should be altered a bit so that it kicks in higher.
If at that point a blaster wants to walk the line (where one pill can keep him alive and in business with defiance but still relatively low on health) then that should be their choice. Right now the only choice is (usually) death or a pill and drained defiance. -
[ QUOTE ]
There's bugs like this with defiance. Sometimes it give you no buff at all when you're damaged, and gives you a buff when you're at full health.
It's still not coded to be 100% right.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, whenever I entered Talos (on Triumph if it matters) for a while I'd be at like 1% defiance with full health, but only in Talos. Haven't played that guy in a while since he's 50 and 'shelved' for now but I should check it. -
[ QUOTE ]
Goodness people. You do realize this is a game right? I've been claiming for years that flight was too slow, especially when I discovered a buddy of mine with SR and no travel power went faster than I did with 6 SO fly. But cut them some slack please. You have made your points, they are looking into it, and if they feel something needs to be changed, it will be.
This is reminding me of all those anti-ED posts that people made. Goodness...

Also keep in mind States' argument from day one against buffing fly was its vertical ability/control. While superjump has vertical it isn't quite as refined as fly. :\ -

Hello Point of Balance,
Thank you for contacting the PlayNC Support Team. We have received other reports describing the issue you have reported. We are currently investigating this matter; please be sure to review any upcoming patch notes for further updates.
The current workaround for this issue is to complete all storyarcs assigned by Veluta Lunata. This does mean that your character will most likely be completing the mission twice. However, a successful completion of all mini-arcs associated to this contact will properly award the souvenir associated to this story.
We appreciate your patience as we work towards the permanent resolution of this matter.

Going to PM Cuppa about it, bug it and do a support ticket on it in game. -

The point I was trying to make was ...
[/ QUOTE ] I think the point that the other person was trying to make was that it's one thing to be able to one-shot me, but it's quite another thing to be able to do that and get away so easily and consistently. In other words give them one or the other but not both. In your example you talk about Druids as if to say, that's what Druids do too...but WoW isn't combining that escapability with the ability to one-shot squishies (or scrappers given rages).
WoW's mechanics are way different than CoH. Mez powers/protection are totally different and people don't have the travel powers like we do in CoH. In addition, the PvP zones aren't level limited like in CoH so someone with inviso can still be seen by higher levels who may be in the area and who can also one-shot them before they get away.
The point being is it's not really fair to compare WoW and CoH without looking at the entire picture of the how and why WoW does it the way they do.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fine let me put this in simple english:
WoW: Me druid, I got your flag and you lack the ability to stop me then you kill me as fast as you can or accept you screwed up by letting me get away.
CoH/V: Me stalker, I got your butt and you lack the ability to stop me then you kill me as fast as you can or accept you screwed up by letting me get away.
Is my point clearer now? You accept what you can/can't do (as in WoW you can't hold/immob etc a druid) and change your strategy for it. Adapt your strategy for the situation.
You got a stalker you can't slow/immob then you hit him with overwhelming damage as fast as you can and hope it's enough.
[/ QUOTE ]No...your'e missing the pont. "Capturing the flag" is not a product of specific powers. There is nothing special about "capturing the flag." EVERY toon can capture the flag in WOW, even if they can't get away. EVERY toon cannot one-shot squishies in CoH.
The poster you responded is pointing that out: the combination of two special abilities. You don't recognize that. Your analogy fails for that reason.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was 1) referring to team enviornment (not 1v1) and 2) simply stating that if you can't do the norm (hold/immob/slow) then you've got to adjust and if nothing else use overwhelming force, period.
Now I'm sorry you feel the need to sit here and nit-pick my analogy instead of actually contributing to the thread but that's your choice. -

Anyway it just makes me think of Druids in WoW.
[/ QUOTE ] Just out of curiosity, can Druids one shot squishies and two shot scrapper types in WoW?
[/ QUOTE ]
If they can they're better than me. (Well maybe if I was in Warsong Gulch at a 9 level gap above a squishy I might be able to...)
The point I was trying to make was RE them running. It's just good strategy for what they are. Standing and fighting a group of heroes would just be stupid unless they had major team support. -
[ QUOTE ]
I have one MAJOR complaint with stalkers.I was in Sirens with a team of 2 controllers 1 blaster and a scrapper.Im an earth troller so im standing in every single acc debuff i can lay down, then as expected a stalker goes for the AS i have tactics and IR running i nvr saw him and he one shots me with 3 AoE's running around him.Thats no biggie the problem was even with a grav troller tagging him NO ONE could stop him from running away NO ONE.
So back to the team i go another stalker AS's me through my debuffs AGAIN one shots me and again no one can stop him from running.I couldnt care less if he kills one of us,BUT my problem is i think i have managed to actually kill a stalker without them running TWICE thats pretty lame if u ask me.People say get a team well i did and he killed me and ran and no one ever got im and thats with me having tactics and IR goggles on and i nvr saw it(Im guessing a crap load of grant invis, which no one even bothers to mention).
[/ QUOTE ]
I hear ya' but can't blame to guy for not being stupid. A stalker is NOT a scrapper or tank. He doesn't carry their defenses. A stalker has two strengths: Assassin striking and the ability to divert aggro away. I'd be lying if I said I knew how placate works (never got a stalker that high) but it's either limited AoE (since the stalker I kept beating to hell never managed to placate me as I was hovering above and at a bit of range) or single target only.
So assuming it's AoE you know you don't want to stay grouped because he can AS, placate the group and run and be hidden or gone by the time you can target him. If it's single target only then something went wrong with being able to stop him. (Maybe he dropped a couple break-frees or whatever or had his defenses and resistances boosted with insps.) I guess I got it 'easy' because Dark Nova has pretty decent range and while the stalker I was getting was managing to increase the gap between us it wasn't far enough fast enough to escape me. My last shot fired right before he got out of my range on several occassions.
However, frustrating as it is... running was his only chance. One on one he was no match for a Dark Nova and his only chance was to try and run out of range or where he could hide again.
Anyway it just makes me think of Druids in WoW. If you're not familiar with them or the game, they're one of the hardest classes to hold. They suck (to be against) in Capture the Flag because once they have your flag you can't stop them... you can only hope to kill them before they're out of range. Reason: Druids can shape-shift and an 'inherint' of shape-shifting is shaking off any slow or immob affects. Grab your flag, shift to cat form, whack my speed and run for the door. Get slowed, shift back to elf form and immedietly shift to travel form (as I'm outside by this time[can only go travel form outdoors]). Held, swift-shift out/back into travel form and the hold is neutralized. You aren't stopping me. You're only hitting me with overwhelming damage and dropping me before I get away or you're watching me enter my base with your flag. Gotta' treat stalkers the same way. The second they reveal themselves if you can you've got to target them and lay waste to them. If you let them get away you've gotta' accept they're going to come back and with a vengeance. -
[ QUOTE ]
In Beta I read all the threads saying Stalkers were overpowered in PVP. Now that I have played a Stalker in Bloody Bay extensively, I can say that Stalkers are only invincible when they bottom-feed. If I search far and wide for that lone defender plinking away at some turrets for their mission, sure I kill them with no risk. On the other hand, when I engage in team battles, I have to be very careful to even get a kill. Often times I am killed trying to escape after a kill.
I expect the good Stalkers will get relatively few kills with relatively few deaths. The bad ones will get impatient and die a lot. In short, Stalkers are balanced in PVE and PVP.
They are perhaps the best solo AT in PVP and the worst in groups.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's basically what it comes down to. I hate the 'concept' of Stalkers but...
In BB it was a group of us goodies fighting a group of badies right at their base door. They couldn't even get into the PvP zone without us there ready to beat the crap out of them.
I was using my WS and thought I was safe in DNova hovering over the fight blasting things. Well... apparently this one stalker opted to take the fly pool and the next thing I know I'm out of form plummeting face first into the ground. So now I know there's a stalker out there and that he can fly or hover.
Well I get back to the fight and hover way way above the fight for a few and keep moving around. Sure enough after a minute I see the stalker suddenly appear behind the tank.
Target and open fire. He was dead before he could get near anything in the base that would have stopped me and saved him.
Point being: It sucked not knowing if/when/where I was going to get slammed by a stalker. Once he revealed himself and his little fly 'trick' I knew what to look for made his life miserable after that. He killed me once, AS'ed me twice (he managed to get me a second time but I lived) and I killed him like 10 times. He also didn't get in anymore kills for the rest of the battle. (Though that was mostly his bad trying to keep taking out the tank.)
So... the way I see it is people hate stalkers because stalkers can neutralize someone outright. No one wants that. No one wants to run around fearing being one-shotted or reduced to 1 hp and then killed off by a meager second shot.
However, once that stalker is exposed he's done.
Anyway that's how I see it (as far as team PvP'ing goes.)
One on one stalkers have a definate advantage if you're not geared with any or enough +perception but if you live and can target him... well Stalkers aren't tanks or scrappers in the defense dept.

There is NO badge for defeating enemies in the tutorial. The ONLY badge attainable in the tutorial map is the exploration badge.
Now that being said, I rolled up my character last night, got him to level 6 and saw someone with the Tutorial badge and went "Doh! I forgot to get it!"

That's okay Posi. I've only done about 1000000000000 alts, all of which have gotten Isolater JUST IN CASE they end up being kept (I often delete them after a couple weeks) so like... I know what I'm doing right.
Anyway I ding 50 yesterday... make a WS. Having fun. Decide to try a PB... I'm so excited about a level 1 travel power my brain takes a vacation, do my mission and run right back to Coyote without having gotten the badge. D'oh!
Worst thing is he sent me to Galaxy City. At least I could fly to the tram! lol
